Security at Domestic check in
November 27, 2023 flew London to Toronto, at arrival I had to go thru security again to go towards Ottawa. I was told that the Marmalade and the jam were liquids and that I would have to go back to check in and pay to have my bag checked or leave them behind. These were purchased for my elderly parents and I was so sad to leave them behind. Why were these ok to travel UK to Canada but not Toronto to Ottawa? Why are jams considered liquids?
Desired outcome: I want them back, I want an explanation.

Wheelchair assistance
I would like to complain on a wheelchair assistant that dealt with me on Saturday Nov 18. I was on a flight back from Guyana, Flight number BW606. Landing at 8:30 PM. I am a senior, 80 years old using wheelchair assistance. The assistant dealt with me inappropriately, demanding money for services he provided. “I helped you, you help me” he said, meaning he would not leave without payment. He peered into my purse when I said I had no small change or bills, and informed me that I had $20 that he was happy to take. Please take the appropriate steps to instruct wheelchair assistants to not demand tips from vulnerable people they are serving.
US security and customs
We were going to San Diego on Sept 23 , 2023. We arrived at Pearson airport on our flight from Fredericton AC 1525 around 705 but didn’t have a gate to go to so had to just park at the far end of the airport and wait for a bus to take us back to the airport. This took about 15 mins total. This was our first delay. Next when we got to the F gate it was very...

Poor passenger service
As much as I love Canada and traveling there, I must avoid ever arriving at or departing from Toronto. The staffing is so inadequate that it causes delays and causes passengers to miss connecting flights. Lines of hundreds of passengers awaiting luggage screening and customs clearance produce unnecessary delays and discomfort.
I arrived in Toronto from Halifax and had plenty of time to board my next flight. However, the overwhelming number of passengers and the low number of security screeners caused me to miss my next flight and stay in Canada an extra day .
I will avoid Toronto, and probably avoid Air Canada, as much as possible.
Desired outcome: Hire and train additional screeners and have them available when large numbers of passengers are expected.
Baggage lost at possibly security check
Our parents Mr. Sikander Singh Tonsa and Mrs. harjinder Kaur Tonsa, lost their bag(female purse) probably during security check of their flight AC042, supposed to depart at 7:30 pm (5th January) . Bag of gold jewellery
I am a 66 year old woman / insulin dependant and take a lot of medicines - I was about to board the Emirates flight to Dubai on November 30, 2023 - there was a security check and they opened my cabin baggage and searched my personal handbag in which I had my gold - the lady kept searching in my bag and took out all my cosmetics - creams - perfume etc - she then said I cannot take them even though they were tiny bottles and under 100 ml - she handed me a ridiculously small plastic bag and told me that I should fill it with my stuff - anything that did not fit / she took away! She even wanted to take away my medicines - but I eventually got some back - the lady kept looking around all the time and I was asked to put away stuff into my bags and leave to board the flight - later on - I realized that mr gold was missing from my hand bag - it was too late for any action and I want the authorities to check the cameras and hold the security person responsible
Desired outcome: I want my gold back
luggage searches in security
On Tuesday November 1 I travelled club class with Air Transat on their flight TS 206 to Manchester. I arrived at the airport at about 19.15 and so checked in on the early side. On arrival at Manchester next morning I noticed that the lock on my larger case had been opened and later that day found that my camera was missing. The camera was a Panasonic Lumix model number DMC-T27. I presume that it was removed and not replaced during a security search. I would very much appreciate if could investigate as the camera contained a large number of irreplaceable photos taken on holiday in the Niagara region

Security
Young East Indian girl sitting in booth outside at arrival by Gate 15. She was in a uniform. I had been waiting on a Shuttle for over 45 mins and walked over to get her assistance. I looked at her through the glass and she just looked back. I put my hands up in the air to ask her for her assistance and she simply shrugged her shoulders and put her arms up in the air as I did. She had a silly look in her face as if to say WHAT? I walked away in disgust. As I did show she called out. I continued to walk. Terrible unprofessional attitude. This was today at 615PM
Desired outcome: Have her at least spoken to and a document put in her file. What a way to land to try and get assistance. She left a terrible impact.
Held hostage at the airport
I have a friend whom had to stay a few days at the Pearson airport after landing there and realized he need an ETA. So had to stay there until it came through. Once it did he had to then pay for Covid test again which is fine. Then to find out he had to pay to stay there because he couldn’t leave. The bill was high and he was out of money because he had lost his credit card that he travelled with. Getting help from friends he still didn’t have enough. And had to stay longer each day the bill gets higher and higher and they refuse to just give him a bill that he can pay from home when he contacts his bank. It has been 2 weeks now and he is still there and they will not let him leave. How does one ever get out of this situation when you are out of money and no one to help you. Something needs to be done here. 2 weeks of having hardly any food, sleeping in airport chairs. No shower or anything that is so inhumane.
Desired outcome: That he can be given a bill for staying there against his will that he can pay once he gets in touch with his bank. So that he may finally leave the airport and go home. So he can then deal with this and pay the bill.
Security
On Monday August 8th I left Pearson for Nashville on business (booking ref 28UZIN).
I was just doing carry on and when I checked in on line it told be I would have to get my boarding pass at the airport. Going through security I was flagged to be checked. Once that was finished, I met the person I was traveling with at the Air Canada lounge. I paid $38.00 to enter [protected]) and they reprinted my boarding pass at the same time.
When it came time for myself to check through to board, they directed me to another person as there was an issue with my boarding pass. By the time she was able to look at my pass, everyone had been on the plane for about 20 mins or so.
The person looked at my pass and asked me where my stamp was. I had no idea what she was talking about. I mentioned that in the lounge they reprinted my pass, so she called up to the lounge to ask them to go through the garbage to look at my original pass. They did find it and there wasn't a stamp on it. At this point the plane has been sitting waiting for me for about 30 to 35 minutes. The lady then tells me that is I run very fast back up to security and gets them to stamp the boarding pass, she will hold the plane. I'm 62 years old with two bad knees, I wasn't going to run anywhere, this was not my fault.
I have not idea how I would just go through U.S. customs to get to security so they can stamp my pass anyways. I was pretty hot by this point so I told the lady I was not going to get on the plane. So I walked away to cool down and the plane left without. After I cooled down, I went back over and asked it there was a later flight, there was at 5 PM, so I re-booked onto it. I paid for the upgrade [protected]) to business to make sure I did get a seat.
I missed an important dinner with a client because of this and I can't put into terms of dollars right now, down the road it could be in the thousands in lost revenue.

YYZ Metered Disembarkation
We had and lay over at Toronto this week. After landing and arrival at the gate, we were informed that we would be subject to a "metered disembarkation" from the aircraft. They would only allow 50 people to leave the plane every 5 minutes, at best. This was after a very long international flight. We were held captive, against our will, on an aircraft for an additional hour and a half due to this idiotic bureaucratic decision. The flight attendants said this was a requirement from Pearson airport due to not wanting to have too many people waiting at the customs and border patrol areas of the airport. At no point was there any direction provided to passengers with connections to disembark first since those passengers would not be going through Canada border patrol. After we did finally leave the aircraft and made our way to our new gate the departing flights were nearly all delayed by about 2 hours, almost certainly due to this stupidity and passengers unable to make connections because they were trapped on other aircraft for hours and hours. One of the Air Canada flight attendants even commented to me that this metered disembarkation sometimes could take two or three plus hours. In my opinion this is completely criminal behavior. The airport is plenty large enough for a few thousand more passengers. And the airlines I would think would want their aircraft not to be held captive in this way either. Very very sad and completely avoidable if there is any sanity in the management team at Pearson airport. I am not holding my breath it is among the worst managed airports in the world. It is a nice facility no question about that but this treatment of passengers is horrible.
Desired outcome: Review the stupid policies that are holding passengers captive on aircraft several hours after arrival causing delays and missed connections, and not to mention medical concerns for affected passengers.
Terminal 3 not fit for purpose
Arrived this morning at approx 4am, 2hr 55mins before departure on Flair to Nashville.
The chaos was ridiculous. The line to the security gate was approx 200yds long and took an hour to get through. Still had over an hour and a half before the flight after finally clearing the detectors etc.
Then... beware the utterly inadequate and pointless U.S. immigration line... another hour and a half in Disneyland-like lines!
The gate was closed when I finally arrived at the desk (at the farthest possible gate available), thankfully they took pity and let me on. Several others followed in the next 10mins.
The problem was not a lack of staff, it was just too few (12) kiosks.
The whole terminal is simply not fit to process the number of travellers at all. There were a large proportion of passengers in the immigration line that had - or were about-to - miss their planes and connections, due to the utterly disgraceful situation.
Most had got there three hours before and still missed flights by 30mins or more.
Everyone agreed that we will not return to Toronto anytime soon as a direct result of this rubbish terminal.
Desired outcome: Stop the US immigration part in it's entirety. Toronto is losing revenue from this place I can guarantee it. Next time I'm driving.
Toronto Pearson TSA flagging bags without reason
On June 21, 2022 my family and I had a connecting flight with a layover in Toronto Pearson. Even though we would not be leaving the airport in Canada we still had to go through security and customs. All of our bags were subjected to additional screening with no reason provided which delayed us even further. There was only one agent processing U.S.A. citizens at customs and had our flight not been delayed we would have missed our flight. We were told by Air Canada that we would not have to go through security or customs in Canada. It took over two hours to go through security and customs and this was on what I would consider a slow day. Avoid this airport if possible and especially if you have a tight International connection.
Desired outcome: More security officers need to be hired and reasons need to be given for additional bag screening. Passengers should be made aware of security and customs for connecting flights.
On 10/30/23 I ended my vacation in Cairo, Egypt having to stay overnight in Zurich, Switzerland for my connecting flight to Toronto. I unpacked my suitcase to find that my lighter was stolen and replaced with a racist lighter with KKK written on the lighter. I don’t know why someone would why someone would do something so awful! The only thing I can think of is maybe the origin of my flight or my address of the city in which 10 black people was murdered in Buffalo, New York. Who ever did the thought it was a joke, it a horrible joke! This person must have a lot of hatred to do something like this! I do know if that happened in Toronto or Zurich, but I know I really do think it’s funny!
TSA Security Check between International and US
June 13, 2022
Absolutely worst experience- super macho International to USA security check. Had bought unopened Icelandic salt in 2 packages- low and behold spices need to be under 3.4 oz, so super macho TSA worker is like, where are you going? As if which state I’m going to determines how much salt I can bring back. Then he changes his mind and states it needs to be under 3.4 oz regardless and I am welcome to dump half of one of them out (exposing sealed salt- there’s a quality TSA agent.) Mind you, these are sealed packages for a Father’s Day present that I specifically did not want crushed by TSA agents in my checked bag. Visibly in tears, he relayed, I dump half or it’s gone. I hope this tool enjoys his Icelandic salt; never flying through Toronto again.
Desired outcome: None- he confiscated my unopened Father’s Day Icelandic salt
Delta check in
On December 18 2021 we were supposed to board flight dl4661 to Detroit at 6:20 am. We arrived over 3 hours earlier and missed our plane due to huge lines and absolute chaos. We checked in at home, got boarding passes at home and yet we had to stay in line to get boarding passes again, then we stood in huge line to drop our bags, then huge line to enter security. The flight left without us.
Desired outcome: Add stuff so people are not so miserable using Pearson
line management for online check in / baggage drop
I am a passenger. I have been waiting for a long time in a line only to find out it is not for online check in. No staff at this airport is directing passengers. Very poorly managed service. I am yet to see a SINGLE etihad airways staff member telling me where to go. Very disappointed. I would call the etihad airways staff lazy if I could find them but I guess I'll just call them non existent at Pearson International Airport.
valet parking
November 24 I arrived at pearson airport and asked the attendant if I had the right place for valet parking. He said that depends. I showed him a coupon my travel agent had given me for valet parking for $69/week. He said yes and I left him my car and keys and signed the paperwork. When I returned December 3 to retrieve my car I was told the bill was $280 and that my coupon was not accept by that lot. It was kind of a surprise to get that kind of a bill after being told by the attendant it was being accepted and I had the right place. I feel like I have been lied to and deceived just to make buck. Very unprofessional in my eyes for a company that should be held in hi standards.
accessible washrooms in the maple leaf room
On our recent business trip to Europe on September 24, 2018. I was a little shocked that the MapleLeaf Lounge in Terminal 1 at Pearson Toronto is poorly accessible for persons in a wheelchair. My wife who uses an electric scooter to navigate around had much difficulty in the Ladies bathroom. The airport should be provide a family washroom where the caregiver and the disabled person can comfortable move around. This was a little awkward for my to be in the ladies bathroom to help her. This was not the case in Toronto. But in Vienna, Austria which we flew to had no issues.
