$45 to send a 10 pound Christmas box to Canada ( 14 small items totaling $200 value) which I thought yay not too bad...until I got the notice that UPS was charging me an extra $65 "customs brokerage charge"
No mention of this extra cost at the time of shipping!
So basically someone in UPS earned $65 to enter the details of my meager package into a computer.
Multiple calls to "customer service" did nothing.
I was condescendingly told to review UPS.com by one representative "Amber" who claimed she was "not allowed" to divulge her employee #
Employees like this give unions a terrible reputation...
Pointedly told that if I wanted my $200 parcel that only contained gifts for my children to actually get where I sent it, I had to pay every cent of every arbitrary EXTRA charge. I say EXTRA charge because I spent half an hour doing everything our local UPS shop told me to do without ever taking a second to mention the possiblility/probability of being charged for "customs brokerage" which you really DON'T need to get a package over the border.

I am AMAZED in these competitive times a company operates this way from the bottom up. I will use ANY other shipping service and tell anyone who will listen that UPS is a disgusting company!
In almost 60 years I have never had such horrible service and a company with no concern for customers.
