Dollar Tree

On Tuesday, February 9th 2020. I went to the Dollar General to exchange a few items. I am aware that Dollar Tree's policy on not accepting any refunds only exchanges. I was not aware of strict rules that at this location you couldn't take previous items you had purchased with you while you look for the items you want to make the exchange. Stephanie, the employee, started with insinuating that I was a thief because I did not left my items with her.
She stated that they did not allowed for costumers to have the items they had purchased even if they had proof and had the receipt with them since people can steal items. She called her manager to let her know I was returning items. The manager on duty was rude and told me I couldn't make a return. Which I kindly told her I was only trying to exchange my items.
Stephanie made various demeaning comments while I waited. Once I had enough. I confirmed if her name was Stephanie. She reply with a "Did I hurt your feelings, sweetie", sarcastically. She never apologized for any "miscommunication" her manager and myself had due to her telling her a different story on both issues we had while she ring me up. I hope people would never get to experience this experience because is so horrifying employees feel they are better and can treat people of color like this and get away with it.
