Back in Nov. of 2007 I purchased a set of Dunlop 195/65R15 tires for my 2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 1.8 T. They were replacing the Michelin tires that originally came with the car. That being said, i was in for a headache beyond imaginable.
First, i purchased the tires through a licensed reseller for Town Faire Tire because he's a local shop owner and I happen to know him. That being said, Town Fair supplied the tires and installation. Now, within 6 days of them being installed one went flat. It was a puncture and they took care of this with no issues. i was happy with the service. Within 2 weeks, all 4 tires began leaking air. At first it was only about 5 lb.s of pressure every 2 weeks. I figured because it was getting colder that it was somewhat normal. I brought them back, had them checked, no leaks, nothing. OK, I drive away thinking it was just a fluke. They had resealed the tires and everything was good. Within 2 months, the tires began leaking again. This time 5lbs. every week, all 4 tires. Since this point I've been back to them 4 times for repairs on all 4 tires. We're on #3 replacement of the valve stems and resealing teh tires. They are now telling me they want to charge me $4 a tire to check them! Are you serious? For tires that have NEVER been right, they now want me to pay for services that they say they provide free of charge? I'm a customer and my information and account number reside with them so why would I be charged? After getting lip from the manager already I really don't have faith this will end well for me. I know it's going to come down to going to regional level and higher to hav ethi sresolved. Even the reseller is on my side and screaming at them and they don't seem to want to budge.
This past tuesday I brough the car to my dealership where i have all the actual maintenance and such done for the car itself and they pointed out a wonderful fact for me. 2 of the tires are 205/65R15 tires and NOT 195/65R14 tires! My original order slip states 4 195/65R15 Dunlop tires.. so they didn't even give me what i ordered.
So, stay away at all costs.. go to Costco, Nu Tread or whoever you have in the area. I would have paid the $800 dealer cost had i known it would have saved me the aggravation that $220 price difference means.
They are the worst customer oriented business I have ever dealt with in my life. No one gets 6 strikes before they should make good on a product, but how can you force an organization that even ignores its own rules?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I know you shouldnt have to, but you should always check your tires to make sure you got what you payed for. From my experience working with TFT, the sales staff wasnt really the best, while the Manager/Asst. Manager (both work sales) are usually good at their jobs, the rest are usually so-so, though in different ways. Sometimes the techs can catch errors made by the sales staff (ive done so several times, from the small errors in size like your problem, to a mixup where a salesman gave us tires with a max of 35PSI for a Dually requiring 80PSI in the rears), its not always possible.
