I was told by one of the new managers that I was trespassing being in the store. She stated that two employees witnessed me leaving the store with merchandise and it was also on surveillance video. I thought maybe she was joking or thought I was someone else, because I shop there weekly and spend $20 to $40 dollars each time. i worked there for a short time and most employees know me by name. I was taken back by her comment and kept repeating, your kidding, i did not take anything out of the store that day, the line was too long and i put my items on the nearest shelf. I wanted to see surveillance tape and which employees witnessed me taking merchandise. The manager told me she didnt have to show me the tape and I needed to leave or she would call the police. I left the store, only to return a few minutes later after telling my friend in the parking lot what just happened. I told the manager she was going to have to call the police. that this was wrong.

Value Villages are known for this kind of behavior. They are the dirtiest company on the planet. I have seen them ring up something on an employees register when they go to lunch and then fire them for being short. They have mocked the Fire Inspector and broken laws, to include shutting off a fire alarm, when the firemen are the only ones allowed to do this. They hire illegal aliens and do not check items, to see if they work before putting them on the shelves. I have seen another manager sexually harass an employee, but when it was reported, they made the girl retract her statement. Value Village is a shady establishment and cheats the Kidney foundation out of what they deserve too. I am talking about the NC locations.

Hey, let's ### about their prices now, going SKY HIGH! Since when does VV compete with the like of Ebay and such?! I saw a Max Studio ugly-as-sin tank top for $29, and no, that was NOT a mistake in pricing...they have Lululemon hoodies for $45, leggins at $19.99, crappy t-shirts priced at $9 and up...THEN they have the gall to advertise that if we bring in 2 bags of donations this week, that we will be 'treated' to a free hot dog and drink, plus a percentage of our next purchase...give me a freaking break...just lower the damn prices...they are making a killing off of people, asking for donations, then turning around and pricing the hell out of them and then laughing all the way to the bank! I will never donate to them again, instead I am bringing all my donations to the local church organization of St. Vincent de Paul. They have their clothing priced at 1.99, and I've NEVER seen any clothing item priced more then 5 bucks. AND to boot, most of the workers are volunteers! Very little overhead.

I forgot to add, this Value Village store is in Timmins ON, it's the only one in this city. I inquired about a Lululemon hoodie that appeared to be new and was priced at $39.99. I asked to have the priced reduced by only $5, and they wouldn't but simply claimed that it was new, and the tags were removed in the back before being priced. I used to work at this store for several months, and while there, I saw prices rise and rise and rise, and how they use this system of brands to price their items at a certain percent of what the item would regularly go for.

This is a for-profit organization that relies on donations from the community in which it is located. However, Valu Village has restrictive return policies. I was in the Fairbanks store on Feb 12, 2011. The store was packed and the dressing rooms unavailable. My experience with Valu Village in the past has been the dressing rooms are filthy. I would not let my college bound daughter try on jeans there in mid December. I purchased several items to try on at home - shorts, tees etc for my upcoming vacation. Not much tropical wear in retail stores this time of year, thus my visit to Valu Village. I returned to the store on Feb 16. After peering into a dressing room, I found it clean and tried on more clothes. After making my selections, the check out clerk tells me I need to find $7.70 more stuff. I ask to speak to the manager. Ken, who refused to give me his last name, approached me. He made no effort to explain their restrictive policy nor offer any solutions when I told him I wanted my money back. He wanted to argue and call me a liar when I said the dressing rooms were filthy in the past. I got my money back, but after he shut me off by saying "You made your point lady". He shoved the money at me, said have a nice day and stomped away. Ken was rude, abrasive and a bully. I suppose Valu Village cannot not afford skilled employees.
