On Thursday, May 30, 2019 at approximately 10:50am I was checking out. I had filled my cart with all of the bigger mason jars a basket that didn't have a price and a 6 inch ceramic vase that was cracked I was planning on using for a house plant… When I got into the line I asked the gal for a price on the basket. Everything else had tags on it. The vase wa...

Value Village / Savers unethical behavior at 924 queen street east toronto m4m1j5

Bought April 9, 2019, 11.23 am. - exchange attempt on April 14, 2019, at 12: 15 am, Sunday.
Denied exchange of the dress with the subject of tag had been removed from the dress.
There a proper tag, the proper receipt; I had been "interrogated" by 2 African Ladies, they stopped me for about 10 more minutes, make to wait, and keep telling me in my face that my tag had been removed, that we going to check it somewhere. It had been clearly stated where they going to check it. Make me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable, not a single word of concern or apology. Absolutely humiliated, had to tell them, that I do not want to wait for an indefinite time.
I left very disturbed unable to stand for my human rights unable to withstand 2 big women at the counter, who are so hard and tough.
I do have a heart problem and it really upset me and my friend indeed.
We are often donating goods to Value Village, (coupon inclosed).

Please, kindly look into a matter seriously, we have a right to exchange clothes without being humiliating.
We do understand that your stuff personnel is a priority for you, however, we are the customers and donors.

Sincerely,

June Tenzin

Value Village / Savers service

I was embarrassed and kicked out of the store today because tags were missing on some clothes I had tried on about 30 minutes earlier. The store manager told me it was "improper shopping" and that I couldn't make any purchases! These tags were not removed by me at all! And I had handed them directly to this women, Lisa Laforest, once I was done trying them on. I fell attacked for no known reason and disgusted by the behaviour I seen today.

Value Village / Savers price of used everything

As I am an avid customer of the Value Village near Danforth and Woodbine in Toronto Ontario Canada I am very disgusted in the price of used clothing and Goods there .today I had to question 3 managers as to why a pair of socks wool mid calf socks would be $6.99 .I find this unbelievable and how is it that a majority of the shoes there now or $17.99 I might as well go into a retail store and get them brand new never been on anybody's feet ever pair of shoes .this is getting out of control with the amount that they are charging for things that are being donated . How about the backpack that is nothing special literally one pocket its may be about $15 at the store or online actually and they're selling it for $19.99 . I have found many many dollar store items including a hat that cost $3.00 new and they are selling the for $6.99 I think these people need to be re-educated on the going price of used items

Value Village / Savers managerial bullying

On numerous occassions myself and other employees have approached our manager as we were instructed to when we have a job related issue.
Unfortunately for the last few months our production supervisor as well as our overall store supervisor have been using mental tactics on longstanding employees to make them feel as if work as continuously never good enough no matter how it's done. It can be a problem one way one day, then several days later if you adjust to the way they instructed you to do it, its still a problem evsn when done in the new format.
Employees are continuously told to "work faster" or outside health/safety restrictions and limitations even when the direct problems are reported.

The blanket response from managers when employees ask for help is "sorry we don't have anyone for that you'll just have to work faster and do it uourself."

They continue to demoralize the team and stand in the upper office almost all day staring down at the production floor taljng about employees but not to the employee with their arms folded over their chests with scowls of disapproval on their faces.

I have witnessed on more than one occassion where the entire back tables sorting team was yelled at by the store manager Elaine and where she directly called the entire team "useless and pathetic".

When you try to approach a manager to discuss your feelings of being demoralized or talked down to its always spun as if they have no accountability in the situation and are blameless.

They can't spend time money and effort into training people to grade clothing or accessoriesband then continuously nitpick at the work criticizing the employee for having an opinion that differs from theirs.

It is causing stress and people to go on medical leaves or just leave mid shift because on more than one occassion a manager has made an employee feel useless and burst into tears.

The bullying meeds to stop and requires immediate followup for this store before they bully more good hardworking Employees into quitting merely because the managers have no ability to talk to their staff never mind to listen and hear them or act in a positive manner to correct situation.

Its gone on far long enough and has already been reported for this store by other employees to the point it wilp next become a labour board matter if the company does not hold their managers accountable and treat Employees with respect.

Value Village / Savers a situation with employee

Hello my name is Paige Anderson I visited the store for my second time in two days last night prior to that I came in and spend $100 on clothing for my daughter and ended up wanting to go back as we were checking out and about to pay they tell me only $37 went through of my roughly $120 order so I call my bank he tells me the funds are available but only 37 went through, they refuse to believe me and then continue to tell me that nothing had been charged even though they had just told me the $37 of the order did go through. after a while I begin crying and explaining that my daughter and I were supposed to be gone at 3 a.m. for a long road trip vacation we have been planning for months and spent thousands of dollars on. I was supposed to be to PLS by 10 p.m. to register a vehicle and finish packing. after that once I started to cry, I walk to the restroom where my daughter was using the bathroom who is 5 years old, so I didn't get as embarrassed and texted somebody to see if they could come by with cash payment since machine wasn't working and since they would not even let me take the $37 worth of items they said originally went through she continued to tell me if I gave her $70 I could take the 70 worth of clothing and come back for the rest which made absolutely no sense to me and again I explained I was already supposed to be gone I did offer a check and bank statements as well as the 800 number for Johnson Bank that I had spoken to two times in front of them when I came out of the restroom and asked what I'm supposed to do and asked if they would keep the store open while I went to see if I could get cash back like they suggested. again she told me they wouldn't be able to as it was already closed for 3 minutes. I said okay well can I at least take my $37 worth of items and set them outside while I go try to get cash back so I can at least pay for it and won't be out $37 and my trip with my daughter. she then told me that she didn't like my attitude and was trying to help, I told her my attitude? I continued to say that I would be out $2, 000 all over some clothing we really needed as I had already paid for the hotels for our trip which will be very lengthy and am now un sure I will be able to make it on time as we are driving all the way to San Diego with stops in between, just her and I. That hour that we were there was very crucial my plan was to be out of there by 9 at close, and go straight to PLS to register truck and leave with my daughter at 3 a.m. with our clothing and bags that we had just purchased. she then threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave the store, which threw me into shock. I told her, I guess go ahead, I feel like I should be the one calling the cops. she picks up the phone, although immature of me, I said, this is pretty [censor].. and apparently me saying that, made them tell police I couldn't even come back.as what the officer has said they stated .the officer said this is a civil matter and I will have to take it to small claims. I have the complaint number if you would like. I mean absolutely no disrespect and have no idea how that even happened none of it makes sense to me. honestly I'm not sure what to do .I don't know if I can fix our trip or my card or anything. I guess I just, I'm hoping I can get my items and I am praying that they are not put back i will pay whatever :( I'm a 25 year old disabled mother with a bad heart and lupus as well as hypermobility and fibromyalgia I may look young but I am not doing well at all and I struggle with being a single mother on my own with my five-year-old daughter with no help but I'm absolutely in love with being her mom !I do these things for her I plan these trips for her .the fact that she had to go and pick out $120 worth of clothing priced half off at Value Village, so excited for her trip, after all we have been through and faced, she had to watch it be ripped away from her, and the cops come for her mom. my heart is broken I have no idea what to do. I know I'm ranting on and on and on.. but I've been thinking about it for hours and hours of what to say or what to do or who to ask and I'm sorry for this burden I'm just hoping there's a way you could help me. I hope you or someone can view cameras to see that she told the police a lie saying I got violent and started screaming on the top of my lungs . At the end I did yell, as I was walking out because I had called police as well yet she was yelling to the officer that I was leaving and trying to run after I had just asked dispatch if I could wait in my vehicle so my child was safe. Which they said ofcourse and explained they understood and stayed on phone with me collecting info . I hate altercation, I struggle with even going out in public/ social anxiety so i would really love to just resolve this out of court . Please let me know.with all due respect, have a good one .

Value Village / Savers the way I was treated and discrimination.

I was trying on some shorts at the value village today. I had recently had surgery on my hip so I was crying from the pain of trying on the shorts. I had had a bloody nose just before I had come to shop and I had a few spots on my pants. An employee that I hadn't even talked to or Evan seen came up to me and treated me like I was a drug addict thief or something beneath her and said you do have blood on your pants and tried to take my purse because it was big. I said no your not taking my purse. She treated me so rude. I was so embarrassed because she did it in front of a bunch of people. When you are an hour from home its not very easy to run home and change so I had to finish my outing with a few blood specks on my leg. I am so offended that I will never come back to the Marysville Value Village store ever again. I have never touched a drug nor have I ever stolen anything from any store or anyone for that matter. I am very very angry that you allow your employees to treat your customers in such away I would never treat someone like that. She actually was smiling the whole time like she enjoyed the fact I couldn't do anything about it. I decided right then I would never shop at Value Village ever again. I have shopped there once a week for many many years. If I were you I would take a long look at how your employees treat your customers. Iwould have them take a class on the right and wrong way to handle situations like that. She could of took me a side and been a little more discrete because I was humiliated and there was no reason to treat me that way. People shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

Value Village / Savers humiliation by staff and managers on friday october

I am a dis-abled person who was in the store at queen st east in Toronto. I had request for some hel and on two different occasions I was discrimated against, by staff. On one day in particuliar I was in the store too shop like I always do and do not hesitate too spend large amounts of monies in the store. in the past month alone I have personally psent more than 500.00 dollars in that one particuliar store. I usually shop at various stores of Value Village but as of now I will no longer support the establishment any longer. The one staff person which I asked for assistance leftmy buggy at the other end of the store and just left me to fend for myself, oh oh. now one day I was there near the beginning of October making another large purchase of dishes cuttlery and many other items too much to mention the bill that day alone was 160.00 dollars to furnish my new apartment. The cashier was arguing with me the whole time and humiliating me so I asked for the manager and the manager came and asked the cashier to continue to pack up my stuff after she had just yelled at me and was being very agressive with me so I told her that I did not want her touching any of my stuff because I did not want to take any negative energy with me from her on my products which I ws purchasing. Now the other day on Friday October the 18th I was approached by the same staff member and she said too me that I was crazy and I had witnesses with me to vouch for that comment. I asked again too speak with the manager and two managers came out, one black women and a white gentleman that looked hispanic. The two of them approached me and asked me to stop accosting the employees. There was one of their employees standing in the line making her own purchase when I said to her you know that I am a good customer I shop here all the time and as of now I will no longer be shopping here or at any other Value Village ever again, not one red cent. I expect to be treated wityh respect and on that particuliar day I was pulling the large buggy behind me while trying to shop in my scooter being handicapped and dis-abled trying to accomplish 2 tasks at the same time. then was spoken to rudely and disrespectful then escourted out of the store with no purchase at all... are you kidding me this is ahuman rights case and I will be seeking Legal Advice and want an official appology from all the staff involved with this incident with me at the Queen Street East Store in Toronto. I will never shop there ever again and I will tell my friends and family not to shop their either, you will be loosing large amounts of support and monies...

Value Village / Savers unfair business pratices &discriminatory!!! racial profiling!

On Saturday, Nov.6, 2010 around 4:00pm I went to Value Village in Forest Park, GA.30297. I found three items that I liked; a black jacket, a black Guess purse, and a tan and white Dior purse. I went to the cashier to check out and paid for my purchases using my Debit card and then proceeded to exit the store. As soon as I was walking toward the exit doors, I was immediately stopped by a man at the counter next to the cashier where I just checked out. The man (later identified as Store Manager )told me he needed to see my receipt and the items I just purchased which were clearly seen as the cashier put all my items in a clear trash bag. I immediately opened my purse and handed Store Manager my receipts and opened the bag for him to see my items. He immediately looked at the Dior purse and opened it to locate the price tag and after that he informed me that price was incorrect and told me that I must've "switched" the price tag because that particular bag was just put out earlier that day and he knew the price had to be much higher than the price tag included in the purse which was marked at $4.99 and that "sometimes people do that to get a lower price! I told store manager directly I didn't switch any price tag or do anything having to do with changing a price in which he clearly accused me of, and I asked him why did he stop me in particular as I noticed he didn't stop anyone else to check their receipts or merchandise; he ignored me. I then told him I will file a complaint against him for this and the store and he said "that's fine" as if he could careless.Store manager started talking to other employees near him about the purse and price and he even told an employee to go and "Pull the cashier off her register" even though she was still ringing up other customers. After standing and waiting at the register several minutes, Forest Park police come in; obviously he called the police. The officers speak with the Store Manager first then talked to me to get my side of the story, and II explained to the Officers the store manager stopped me on the way out after I clearly paid for ALL my merchandise and he held me at the counter until the police came claiming I switched out the price tag on a$4.99 purse in which I adamantly denied again to both officers. I even told both Officers to please look at the videotape in the store and clearly they will see I did nothing wrong! After waiting another ten minutes or longer, the cop asked me to go outside and informed me there is NO PROOF of ANY WRONGOING, and the so-called videotape is not even enabled to record such, and no complaints or anything is being filed against me, and that this Value Village in Forest Park is known for thefts. The officer then told me the store manager said I'm banned from returning to that particular Value Village and if I did return I would be arrested! This was an absolute embarrassment to me and harassment this should've been handled differently! In the end after the store manager told me rudely he wouldn’t give me a refund after I demanded a refund of all my purchases after he accused me of changing the price on the Dior purse, another employee walked up to me and told me they refunded my purchase and gave me the receipt for such. Bottom line this store manager is an outright RACIST! He discriminated against me being a black woman and was racially profiling me, and even made an accusation that the cashier and me know each other and the cashier had something to do with it(cashier also Black). The store manager should be terminated immediately! I plan to file additional complaints and take extreme legal action from this until I get satisfaction! If anyone else has had similar issues there please feel free to contact me.

The store is value village Richmond, BC. Went there and had to unload all 20 bags of clothes with no help whatsoever from the employee. He even complain why I bring in so many clothes. Then a white lady drives up and he runs, yes runs, with the buggy and unloads her two bags. I do not know if this is racism or not, but value village is not getting any more donations from me, ever. Will just take my clothes out into my backyard and make a big bonfire. At least I will roast have fun and roast marshmallows.

I was told by one of the new managers that I was trespassing being in the store. She stated that two employees witnessed me leaving the store with merchandise and it was also on surveillance video. I thought maybe she was joking or thought I was someone else, because I shop there weekly and spend $20 to $40 dollars each time. i worked there for a short time...
