pricing
I have always dealt with the Window World offices/franchises in PA & NY. Always very satisfied with their products, services, pricing and installation.
I wanted to get a replacement window for my daughter while I was visiting in Idaho and was shocked at the difference in price from the national advertisements and what this franchise charged.
Window World has always prided themselves on offering the installed price of their windows starting at only $189 total for window and installation. I have taken upgrades from that in the past to the next window at $209 total for a plain double hung window.
The Boise (Garden City), Idaho franchise starts with their lowest priced window at $225 and does not even show the $189 window on their order sheets! They also add a $100 charge for installation and other extras that brought the total for the one window (which fit into their maximum measurements for a $189 window - less than 48" x 72" - to $415...
My feeling is that there should be some readily apparent disclaimer on the Window World website when I ask for the local franchise and they supply me with this or any other local dealer that does not adhere to the national pricing or products ...
Very disappointed and this has definitely soured me on this company...
poor quality window, customer service
We bought a house and put down a 1/2 deposit on the windows. Then my husband lost his job and we couldn't afford the other half. We asked that half the windows be installed and as soon as he got back to work we would pay the balance and have the other windows installed. The owner of WINDOW WORLD OF EVANSVILLE INDIANA held ALL my windows hostage and refused to install any until it was paid if full! I told him I would sue him and he laughed and asked me if I wanted any good lawyer referrals! My sister in law finally paid the other half and the windows of poor quality were installed. The installers took all the storm windows I had and kept them and told me I didn't need them and they would interfere with the new windows I just bought. Well, the windows I bought only keep out the rain and I have had plastic sheets on my windows ever since! When I aasked where my storm windows were I got absolutely no reply, and obviously did not get them back. Why did they take them and where did they go? They were all in good condition without cracks or missing panes of glass. I wouldn't recommend WINDOW WORLD OF EVANSVILLE INDIANA on my worst enemies! Customer service is nonexistent and the manager is a bully.
Thank you for your post. the owner did the same to me. He is a bully. After waiting close to a year for windows, while they had my money, they cancelled the contract because their sales rep had “way underpriced the windows” to me and it was too much of a risk to their crew because it was 3 stories. They could have turned the job down right away but instead their rep told me to lock it in right away because prices were going up 18%. Now, a year later, I have to pay the price for their bad business practices
Windows let moisture through seals and you get black mold on every window they install and cleaning them is a job since they will no longer stay up without using some type of prop.
bad work done by drunks
Ripped off by drunk installers. They destroyed my front door jamb. Installed a door with short gasket. Trim work doesn't match. 4 sets of installers. Door still not fixed. Trim work on front porch doesn't match. Was told it's supposed to be that way. I know better. I've built homes. Don't let these people on your property. I don't like liars. Get someone local with a goo reputation! Siding job was a bad joke.
poor customer service and installation crew
I will never never refer this company to anyone. Also when there is a customer referral that person never gets their check. Currently two months and no check. Customer service horrible and the installation crew careless. Left messages never call back unless I can caught someone at the office. Apparently the owner doesn't give a crap about anything. Time for him to go. Rip-off.
warranty
I bought a condo in Newburyport where Window World Boston (out of Woburn, MA) installed the windows. Since I wasn't aware and, apparently neither were the previous owners, that the warranty needed to be transferred to me within 30 days of closing, the windows are no longer covered under their “lifetime” warranty. So, ok but I have a broken pane of glass and am willing to pay for it to be replaced. So far I can't get them to fix the window. They don't call back as promised. I was told that the owner (Eric) would call me. Didn't call. I called back and left voice mail with the Service Manager (Gayle, I believe), no call back. The warranty situation feels like a "clever" business practice and they provide very poor support of their product as far as I can tell. The service manager recently asked me to see if I could get the factory to repair the window under a factory warranty knowing full well that they'd ask for the paperwork to prove that I was the original purchaser of the windows or that the warranty had been transferred to me within the 30 days. This seems to be a stalling tactic. I’m writing this complaint in hopes that buyers will be cautious when doing business with this company. It will cost me a few hundred dollars to get the window repaired but by posting this, they may lose thousands in business and don’t seem overly concerned about the reputational damage it will cause to the company. Notice on their website they have plenty of testimonials regarding sales and installation but only one video regarding the warranty which I could not get to view as it will not work. Also, I don’t think any of the positive testimonials pertain to Window World in Woburn. Some good may also come of this post if someone selling or buying a home, who may have overlooked the window warranty, will remember to transfer the warranty. Buyer of Window World Windows beware. Buyer of a residence with Window World Windows beware.

excessive time to make order correct
I ordered replacement windows and doors on May 23, 2014. Two of the doors were special order doors. The storm I ordered was to have the screen on top to prevent dogs and children from tearing it up. The installation took place in July, which I can understand because of the special order door. I allowed Window World to utilize the dumpster I had in my drive way to discard the old windows, except for the aluminum storm windows, which one of the installers took to recycle for money. I went to check the work and found that my special order storm door had been made incorrectly, the screen was on the bottom where it would be damaged very easily. I told the installer/salesman this and he noted that I was correct, he stated he would get it fixed. Today, 11-14-14 I finally have the correct door, after multiple calls on my part to the company to find out what was going on. They kept telling me with each conversation that they would be in contact with me, but this never happened unless I called them. I even spoke to the manager, who assured me that he would get back to me, I have yet to hear from him! I would never recommend this company to another person based on their service and reliablity.

installation
I had window world come out on 4/18/14, installation was to be in June they never did get out here till Aug. Then never completed the job till Oct. I had window world put in 14 windows. I was charge a EPA Pre 1978 Lead Safe Practice installation fee of $30.00 per window For the Total of $420.00 For witch I feel Rip off Cause they Never did do. The salesmen( David Malus) insisted it is by law. So if it is By law why wasn't it done? When one other guy Came back out to install another window cause it had been ordered wrong and I complained about it he just didn't want to talk about it. I have never had a call or anything From Dave Malus whom sold me the windows to say why they was not on time anything. window world never did fallow up with me. I was always the one that had to call them to ask what was going on with my order. Never could the lady give me a str8 answer. I am very upset at the fact that I feel Riped off. that is money that should be in my pocket.

service and theft
I had WW install 9 windows in my home. They installed 8 of them properly. I was told by the salesman I needed to purchase some wood in order to re-frame my kitchen window due to the width of the new windows. I purchased what was requested and placed it directly in front of the window. When the crew came out not only did they NOT re-frame the window but stated that there was no wood there in the first place. Additionally the install they did on the kitchen window left much to be desired - they filled in the gaps with caulk in some places over an inch thick. For over 4 weeks I tried to get the company do redo the work and when they finally did it was worse that the initial job. Boards out of line - holes in the wood - unacceptable. It still isnt right.
On the second item - one of their workers stole two of my iPads. This was proved by video when they sold it in town. Initially the service manager was helpful but it took over 6 weeks to get anything done - they kept disregarding my attempts to contact them, including email, phone, text etc. Was constantly told they were going to pay me on Friday - I just failed to learn which Friday they meant. This was NOT a good experience - I will never use them again and caution others to beware of workmenahip and honesty.

bogus warranty
Beware of misleading warranty claims by window world. I purchased a home that had newly installed window world windows. They said they came with a lifetime warranty and that it would apply to us. I called and verified this with window world when we first purchased the home and when a lower window was defective and the glass formed cracks in the heat. I was told to just provide the serial number of the window and it would be taken care of. I called back and provided the numbers and was still told it would be covered. I was called today and told it would cost $75 that paperwork has to be filled out within 30 days and was not even though I was not told that two times previously. Do not trust them! For a company not to stand behind their product (It is defective) and then use a fine print out that they did not mention is poor customer service. Please look at more reputable companies.

love door... service not so much!
In July of 2012 I had window world come and replace a sliding glass door. I love my new door, it's awesome...I can't say that for the service I've received.
I called window world in early 2014, because I have a severe draft coming in (which I had to shove towels in my door to stop the cold air from coming in. On March 7, 2014 a technician came to my house stated that I need a weather strip (which was never installed) and told my mother that it would take 5 weeks for the part to come in.
The first week of June I finally called window work to check on the statues of my part. The lady replied "oh it's in I was going to call you today!" Really 3 months later...Give me a break...
So June 20, 2014 the same technician that came on March 7, 2014 came. When I woke up I called my mom at her house to see how everything went with my door. She informed me that my door was NOT fixed. The wrong part had been ordered.
I'm upset so I call window world of Altoona on Friday June 20, 2014 to speak to the owner, left a message with some lady because HE doesn't have voicemail...NOTHING! I call back on Monday June 23, m 2014 spoke with another lady left another message...STILL NOTHING.
I understand that it's 1 sliding glass door and not 10 windows. So if your motto is that "not only do you stand behind your windows you stand on them" I hope they don't break because you'll never get it fixed.

bait and switch - poor service
Salesman came to our house twice to provide an estimate. He gave us his final price, I gave him two separate deposit checks one for a door and another for 5 windows. Three weeks later I had not gotten a start date or design info requested by our HOA. The sales guy told me he would get it. Finally going into our 4th week I called the salesman, no answer...left him a voice mail to call me or I was going to cancel my order. I sent him an email as well. Get this, I get an email telling me he does not have the info I requested but attached is another contract I would need to sign increasing our cost by $230 as he made an error...are you kidding me. You don't return my calls or provide info I need for our HOA...and now almost a month later you want more money and you STILL don't have start date..They cashed my $500 dollar check but I put a stop payment on the $1500 dollar check which cost me $36 dollars...not to mention the salesman broke one of our blinds which I told him don't worry about it just give me a good price so I take the hit for that lesson learn. Bottom line DONT DO BUSINESS WITH WINDOW WORLD IF YOU DO IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT. I am in sales too so I have made it point to tell as many people about this company as I can...DONT DO IT!.
bait and switch
Don't trust this company, I am here to tell you. They came to our home TWICE to measure windows. The second time they gave me a price, I paid the $1500 dollar deposit on an agreed price. Home Homer Association needed some design pictures and I could not get the rep to respond with the exception almost three weeks later I get an email "I will see what I can do". Finally after I threatened to cancel my order the sales guy...get this sends me an email...telling me he is still looking for design work pictures. Then a day later he sends me an email with a new contract as he miscalculated and will need another $230 dollars to move forward. Sounds like a Nigeria email or something...still no pictures or design for Homeowners Association. I am
back at square one as I will find a reputable company to deal with. I urge you to tell your friends about Window World DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM...you will regret it. On another note they tell you there is a life time warranty..if the sales side is this bad you can image what the service side is like. Read the reviews, don't take a chance with this company. They wasted 3 weeks of my time before the bait and switch thing. BTW, cost me $36 dollars to put a "stop payment" on my check. Yes, I am angry and you would be too, the intent here is to save you time and money.. You can bet I am spreading word on this company and you should too. Use common sense read these reviews...you have better chance sending your money to Nigeria.

You can bet I am spreading the word on this company and you should too.
very unprofessional
where to start... first off we had them here to order 8 windows, including a sliding door. When they arrived with our windows 2 of them were not the right size, had to reorder those 2. Then they installed the sliding door, two different panels, one with grids and one clear, (they didn't notice) so we called the company the next day, man came out, said oh my god, we will make it right and get you the correct panel and change it as soon as possible. Well a day or two went by, they came with the new panel, and again.. they brought the clear one, we had ordered the one with all the grids in, so they didn't change it, left it as a mix match. Said our name was on the wrong one. So called the company guy again and he said he'd be out in morning, he came, brought the contact we signed, tried to blame us for ordering the wrong one, i said .. well you are the one that took our order and i showed you the picture of the one we wanted, and you wrote it up, how the hell do we know what the different panels are called, and why do we have 2 diffferent panels installed anyway? Well anyway, he just wanted to blame everyone but himself, he took the order and he's the one that measured the windows wrong that we need to wait on a few more weeks. Anyway, called again the next day to the district manager Tom and he said he would take care of all the mess and get us the correct slider and make everything right with us. Then we were also told we do not pay the final payment until all is finished, and they turned around and charged our Card without our permission, needless to say we had that corrected too, they also left many nails in our driveway the first time they were here. Well a few weeks later now and we still are waiting for the one window that was measured wrong to arrive and hopefully fit, and for the sliding door that we actually wanted to arrive and be installed, we are very unhappy with the whole experience from Window World, no one communicated with each other, and all they do is blame everyone else for all the mistakes, I would not ever recommend them to anyone that wanted to install new windows. They don't clean up their mess either, i had to clean the windows and vacuum my carpets when they left. Its been a nightmare all around, and they will be back in another few weeks- they say anyway- to finish up. Wish us luck.

Told they would be here at ten and no sign of them of phone call stating they will be late they were told they could do it before I had to go to work at 3
The owner of this Window World franchise has been notified. Should further assistance be needed you may call [protected]. Window World Customer Relations
First, tell them that you are going to contact the credit card company and dispute the charge. Then do just that. Tell the bank that you have a contract and the finial payment is not until the work is complete. They should be able to reverse the charge.
defective sliding glass door
window world installed a sliding glass door and had problems from the start .had to call factory replace tract . still dragging and squeeling.they tried to adjust several times. no results. window world refuses to replace to replace the defective window. the salesman says there is nothing wrong and refuses to do anything. thanks window world meets there standards
poor quality and poor workmanship
We had had a good previous experience, so hired them to replace windows and doors in our new home. Some windows okay but every door leaked air, one door hardware broke off after only a few months, and one door was not provided for 6 months and only then after numerous calls. One window installed left big chunks out of the frame, looked like some child had attacked it with a claw hammer. We have had to hire a carpenter to fix the front door and now are going to have to hire someone to fix the second door. This is ridiculous. We spent the better part of $10, 000 and have nothing but trash.
amen i feel you they got me too but i will get them in court
call for 2 days between 8 to 5 no one would answer the phone or call me back. terrible customer service!
window replacement
We contacted window world to replace our Windows. They told us the job would take about 2 to 6 weeks to complete, but they got the wrong Windows the first time and made us wait for months before they completed the job. In the meanwhile, cold air would get in between the walls of our house for months during a cold period in winter.

Window world measured in August, 2015, for replacement windows in our sunroom…..It was
December 2, when they finally sent a contractor (husband & wife team). They got four (of five) windows in but not complete. Today, Dec. 3, 2015, the WW installation contractor came out - the wife could not come, due to some kind of problem, but a wonderful lady, a relative of his, came with him. She was not a window installer. He got the five windows in, but the middle one apparently was measured wrong and on the inside of the room, it had spaces (appeared to be about a third inch) all around the window. It was not in his contract to do any work on the inside of this particular window (but did complete inside trim on the other four windows). All five windows were supposed to be completely installed. My husband had to call window world, who then wanted to speak with the contractor, and he did finally complete the job inside the room. However, the caulking on the outside is lumpy and bumpy and really not acceptable. My husband will be the one to redo the caulking. Also the outside trim appears warped - very unprofessional looking. Clean up was not good, either….Small peices of metal, calk, plastic strips, etc left on the ground. Also, none of the windows, this time, were cleaned, and are streaked and dirty looking. The windows replaced by WW in 2014 were cleaned after the installation. Today, Dec. 3, 2015, inside trim was damaged by the installer on the fifth window.
There was another window (most other windows in the house were replaced by Window World last year (2014) which had a very noticeable gap, which was supposed to be fixed by this contractor. It was not done. I will n e v e r do business with window world again, nor refer them to anyone!
I really regret having to complain about the installer, as he did appear to be a very nice person, but nice doesn't necessarily get a job done!
part replacement
I bought a bow window from Windows World in June 2012 a year later the hardware which controlled the movement of the side panels was defective, the reason I bought the window was because I was promised it had lifetime guarantee, I called the company to send a replacement and 5 months later I am still trying to get the parts.
BAD BUISNESS DEAL!
scheduling
I ordered my window approximately Oct. 9th, and I finally got scheduled for today, December 9th. My appointment was for between 8:30am and 9:30am. I just received a call that they will not be installing because of cold weather. Now I do understand that it is cold, but it has been cold for a week or better. They could have rescheduled me earlier. Now I get rescheduled on December 28th, a Saturday which works, but that is my birthday. Seems as though every time I turn around there is a poor excuse from Window World, and the lady scheduling is such a delight. (That is sarcasm)! What a disappointment it has been! The install better be incredible!
bad installation
We had Window World to replace all of our windows and a patio door in our home. When they came out to install them, the door was too big for the opening where they removed my patio door. The installers cut on my house without my permission and went to a hardware store to get supplies to make the door fit. Years later my floor rotted and had mold on it, because the door had been leaking from the poor installation. It also made the seal break and damaged one of our joist in our house. The floor under the door dropped 2 inches below the door. I informed Window World about this and all I have received is a run around. First of all Window World did the measurements and installed the wrong size door, and did damage to my home. What happened to the lifetime warranty? I would not recommend this company. Now I have a damaged home and they will not do anything about it. This is so wrong .

red neck hillbillies
placed order was told install within 6wks took 10wks door was to small for opening so they shimmed and rigged it to fit now when you walk out my sliding doors to patio you have a 3inch lip to step over, and the installer told me that it would be 2 more wks before I could use door because they forgot to put hardware on door(rollers). So I called owner at window word corbin ky John H. He was total jerk, tried to lay blame on me and told me he wasn't doing nothing to my door so now I have new door that doesn't fit you can't open because no hardware(hope my house don't catch fire only one door to get out). And here is what he told me shut your face and I am going to get a lien agaist yiur proberty..So if you like this kind of busness, these people are for you.Good luck and if I was you just go to lowes you will be better off...
