I called Window World in Chattanooga, Tn. to have 13 windows replaced. The salesman came out and went through his sales pitch. I ordered the windows and approx 3 weeks later they called and said that they were in and they were ready to install. The appointment was set for 9:00 am the next day. The installers showed up at 10:30am and after a brief time of working approx 15 minutes they (2 of them) looked at me and said "lunch time" . They went out to their truck and ate their lunch and restarted working at 11:30am. Now granted they did clean up after themselfs, but they left the windows not sealed and you could see through the wall between the window and the frame. The installers said that they would be back the next day to finish the job. A week passes still no sign of the installers, but there was a lady (stephanie) from the office that called me and starting asking how my install went. I explained that the windows were not installed correctly, she says "well the installer says that the job is completed"
so I made another appiontment, the installer never showed and no phone call. Three days go by I called the office and spoke with STEPHANIE told her that the installer didn't show, so she called him on the other line, he told her that he would be by the next day to finish the job up. The next day still no show, again no call. I call the office at 4:30pm; Stephanie wasn't in so I asked to speak with the manager, was told no. So I asked to speak with a supervisior, was told no. I said how'd bout customer service, the lady said I'm customer service. I ok then why hasn't the installer been at my house to finish the job? She said what job, and what da ya want anyway? You can't wait till tomarra to speak with someone? I said to her this isn't anyway to speak with a customer, and for her to put someone on the phone thats above her. Still she refused, she said this is my job to answer the phone, but it ain't my job to let you speak with someone.
Then she hangs up on me. I call back, she hangs up on me again.
Once more I call back, guess what she hangs up on me again.
The next day I call back and she answers the phone, I ask to speak with the owner, she replies "who is it?" I tell her that it isn't any of her business who this is, put the owner on the phone.
The owner (KIM) gets on the phone and i procede to explain to her my problems with her company. Kim stops me and says "I allready know to whole story, so you don't have to tell me anything" "I've aready yelled at the installer for not showing up when he's suppose to"
I said really what about your girl that hung up on me yesterday? she repied "I've told my girls if they have an irrate customer to hang up on them"
I said to her all of this could have been avoided if her installer would have shown up and done his job right to begin with. she said "I'll have the other owner (ERIC) come by it the morning and finish the job up, he'll be there at 9am"
The next morning the installer showed up and spent about 15 min inside my house and said "well it's done" and left
I noticed the exterior trim wasn't done that I paid for.
So I called the office back and spoke with KIM again, told her the problem again. She said "well we'll just have to call you back when we have time"
2 weeks go by another girl from the office calls and asks how is everthing, I tell her that the job isn't complete she tells me that the owner (ERIC) will be by on thursday 4/26/12 to complete the trim at 12pm
So today thursday 4/26/12 this guy shows up at 12:30pm not ERIC he agrees that the job isn't complete so he calls ERIC and tells him this. I get on the phone with ERIC and he proceds to tell me that he will reschedule the installer to finish the job at another date and time I said no, my appointment was for today at 12pm. The guy that they sent to the house didn't have any idea what was going on or what has transpired. I said to ERIC that when I spoke with his wife (KIM) the last time she told me that she would have you here the next day, he said that he didn't know anything about that.
The guy left no work was done.
ERIC called me at 1pm stating that I didn't pay for trim, I told yes I did according to my contract, he said "well I'm reading your contract and it doesn't say anything about trim:" I said to him this is a breech of contract he said "no it isn't you just havn't gave us enough time to complete the work" I said it doesn't take 4 weeks to do this; he said "your right it takes about 6 to 8 weeks for completion, but you still havn't paid for the trim but I'm willing to make you a deal on the trim" I refused to make a deal for someting that I've aready paid for.
I asked if he treats all his customers this way; he replied "ONLY THE [censored]ES LIKE YOU" I told him that only thing that i want is what I paid for, nothing else and I'm tired of being lied to.
He refused and then he said that "YOU STILL OWE ME MONEY" I said how's that you been aready paid, I have the receipts to show that's the bill has been paid. He replied again "*** if we could have a civil conversation, we've could have better relations"
I called the main corporate office and spoke with someone concerning these problems, he said that they didn't control the stores on how that they do business, the only thing that they do is advertising for them.
So buyer beware I would think twice before you jump into this company, I have no problems with the windows, but as you can tell there is mulitple problems with the empoyees and owners.
Since my original post I've had more problems and Window World will not go away...
Approx 1 year after this issue I had a phone call from the accountant from Window World she requested me to fax her my credit card statement showing when I paid the bill because (KIM) at Window World said that she didn't receive the payment. After I faxed my proof to the accountant, the accountant called me back and asked me "what did she do with the money?" I replied "I don't care, but she's got it"
I thought that was it, but I was wrong...
Another year goes by and Bamm I get a nice certified letter from an attorney that (KIM) has hired to sue me for non payment. I go down to the attorney's office with my proof of payment, and it was dismissed no questions asked, and the attorney right in front of me called (KIM) and told her the reason for dismissal.
End of story right? Wrong...
Friday 08/30/13 I had a phone call from a dept collector from OH. trying to collect for Window World, I explained to him that the bill was paid and also told him about the accountant and attorney, he said that he has seen this before and for me to e-mail him all the proof, so I e-mailed him my credit card statement, attorney letter and the original bill that's says the bill is paid in full.

office manager
I ordered 20 windows from the salesman and was happy with him and the product and cost and description of installations. What a mistake I made.
When I signed the contract I asked about the 3 day cancellation policy that was not on the contract and he said it did not apply to windows because they were "custom made", right, just like the 60 other houses in my development built the exact same way.
My wife decided to cancel because we found out that they in fact DID NOT make the windows. The rep lied and said they were the largest window manufacturer in US. They are made my Allside (AMI) and probably say this because they do so much volume. They make NOTHING. They are a sales and marketing organization and nothing more with a cheap window who pay their reps and installers practically nothing but promise to keep them busy.
I called Mr. Eric Peabody in Woburn who stated he was the GM of the store. Easily one of the most arrogant ### I have ever spoken too. He explained that the are "so good" they get no cancellations ever and that is why they do not include a notice of cancellation with their paperwork.
Well, the MA Attorney General did not agree and is starting an investigation as her office said this was not the first problem she had heard of them.
I will wait it out but they will NEVER step foot on my property again. I will get my money back and wrote a letter to corporate explaining that Eric Peabody should be fired. End of story6fdc

Bill post your bill of sale since he said you did not order windows
i had 5 windows installed and a new front door installed and also a storm door installled . the products took way too long to get and the installers were rushed to get all done in 1 day only one experienced installer and one siding guy installer who did not know what he was doing at all but sales person measured windows wrong to so they did a rush job on all windows and doors doors were wrong too not what i order but found out after old door was removed too late to fix on a sunday? the whole experience is awful and a on going fight to get straightened out . still trying to get right will file with attorney general and bbb and good house keeping as well will never call on this company again for anything . a horrible night mare that is still goiing on to date! go some place else do not listen to their lies and promises
My name is Eric Peabody, GM of Window Word of Boston. I have never had a telephone conversation with the individual who posted this complaint. Furthermore, I have no record of this individual placing an order with our company. To clarify, Window World of Boston does in fact provide all consumer's with the right to cancel an order within three business days of the contract date. The company clearly discloses this fact in uppercase bold print on it's contract. Also, the company discloses it's cancelation policy on it's A plus rated Better Business Bureau profile. Window World prides itself on a pressure free, no haggle approach of doing business.
Window World is America's largest replacement window company. This can be verified by several third party industry publications. Window World sells and installs over 1 Million quality replacement windows per year. This equates to over 130 thousand individual installs annually. Window World strives every day to deliver the very best service and products to it's valued customers. I can be reached at [protected] and would be happy to discuss any issues or concerns an existing or potential customer may have.
is this blackmail
*update*
Dictionary.com defines blackmail as a verb: to force or coerce into a particular action, statement, etc.
I just received a certified letter from Window World stating they deem it necessary to rescind the lifetime warranty on my windows due to a “hostile environment”. They continue to say “the position can be resolved if (you) retract unflattering comments and several untrue statements that were posted online to several social media sites; Window World will reconsider this decision to fully warranty the windows installed if this is done but we must have verification of the retraction from each site.”
First, no statement I have published has been untrue. Also I must confess I find this very confusing. How hostile can an environment be if it will be deemed no-longer-hostile by virtue of my retracting online reviews? My confusion is further compounded by the fact that the letter was cc’d to Kannon Conway, Harris Shelton PLLC. Rescinding my warranty and in the same breath offering to reinstate it if I retract statements posted online seems to fall squarely under the coercion into a particular action or statement thing.
Did they really blackmail me and cc their lawyers the proof or am I missing something?

My experience with Window World is a nightmare that just won't end. The first installation crew started ripping out three windows but only installed one before they decided they weren't going to finish the job. They packed up and left the other two in worse shape than they were to begin with, complete with busted out panes, and wood shims laying in my yard. It took Window World five days to send a second crew to install the remaining 15 windows. After they left I noticed daylight breaching the interior of my home around one of the windows. I called them back out to seal it until they could finish the wrap, which was being pushed out another 3 weeks because of the wrong color being ordered. They refused to seal the window and insisted it was weatherproof when it obviously was not.
Even after the third crew and a total of 10 trips to install, I still have remaining issues. They installed some wrap off level. It is crooked on the front of my house and they are now refusing to come back to fix it. From the owner's own words he is not going to spend any more money on this. I contacted corporate and spoke with David, Manager of Customer Relations and he was no more help than the Memphis owner. I was told that Kelly is an independent franchise owner and while he would be happy to mediate his hands were tied and all decisions were ultimately Kelly's to make.
I could add much more about unprofessionalism, shattered glass littering my home left uncleaned, and on and on, but suffice to say Window World apparently views 10 trips to install windows something to brag about, because they brag about how they've done everything I've asked to try to make us happy. Everything, that is, except get it right and not waste my time.

i wish i would have found your review before i ended up in the same mess as you . some body needs to put a stop to rip off companies like this i work too hard for my money to just throw it away at shoody windows and doors and installers
improper installation
I purchased a Front Window with two side "slides". The instaler came in with cheap pine board and I called them on it. He promptly went to get the proper Oak which was ordered for the boarders and installed the Window. Behold, later the window did not fit on the right side. It would not slide far enough to the left to lock. My home is not secure(window wise) and I cannot get the warranty dept. to work w/me despite I have a claim. I have sent in the proper paperwork. After 45days(what they say they need to process) I phoned. Excuses are "repair person is not in will call tomorrow" = no call. I call back in 2 days(friday) "they wont be in until monday, sorry, whats your # will have them call you then"...No call I wait and call tuesday, They are not here, will have them call you tommorow"...
This went on for a couple of weeks and is STILL going on. I am going to have to call them again this morning(thursday) and explain this all over again.
I sent all was needed, forms, pictures with descriptions and all receipts. They just dont care! BBB credited? Not in my experience.

Window World of Jacksonville "says" lifetime warranty. I have called for almost a year and keep being told that the they will be coming out to replace the window. Well, no such luck. They even said the window was in. Finally, I gave up and called the corporate headquarters and they said they would call and I should get a call back that day. From 11/26/12 to 12/4/12. Still no call. I called corporate back again on 12/4/12 and the person over complaints for franchises, says that he spoke with MIchael (that same person that has given me the run around) and he said he would call you that day. Well he had not and it was 12/4/12. Owner is supposed to get back with me in one hour (which, he is also one that came out previously and nothing ever got done). Of course, Michael is saying he has tried calling and get no response from me.? If that is the case why would "I" be the one having to follow up with corporate to get my window replaced (like their warranty guarantees)! Sad and disgusting how such slacking people can keep their jobs! Guess he will have to run the company in the ground until something is done. I would NOT recommend Window World in Jacksonville, FL but I do like the windows manufactured by Alside. If this cannot get resolved, I guess they will be my next contact as well as the BBB.

After you notified Window World Corporate of this issue the Columbia franchise was contacted. The franchise owner advised every effort is being made with the manufacturer to have your windows shipped as expeditiously as possible.
Your continued patience, and efforts to work directly with the Columbia franchise, is greatly appreciated.

reused to issue refund of deposit
I purchased and moved into a “not so new home” on August 2nd this year. I am a senior on social security disability and on a limited income, but I had a little money left over from the sale of my small home in another city so I decided to put it into more energy efficient windows that would help conserve energy.
I contacted Window World in Dallas for a free estimate. I was duly impressed and ordered the windows I could afford. I gave the salesman $1301 for the deposit, and was to pay the additional half of $1301 upon installation in about 6 weeks. The window contract indicated that I could cancel the contract anytime up till midnight of the following third day. The contract was signed on August 6th which gave me until midnight August 9th which was a Thursday.
That Thursday evening about 8 pm I received a call that there was a death in the family and was asked to help with funeral expenses. Of course I agreed. I immediately called my sales person, Marty Cummings, who did not answer and I left a message on his cell phone that I wished to cancel the order. I was within my allowed cancellation time frame. I also tried calling the office location in Grand Prairie, TX but they were closed. I got a call back from Marty Cummings the following day, August 10 and was told that since the cancellation was not received until the 10th that I was not able to cancel the contract. I reminded him that the contract stated I could cancel up till midnight of the third day. He argued that the cancellation had to “be received” by midnight the third day. I argued that it was received by his cell phone in time or he wouldn’t be responding to my call and it was not my fault that he did not answer his phone or check his email at 8PM.
Now, since I can’t afford the payment of the additional $1301, Window World is sitting on $1301 deposit from me for doing nothing. When I cancelled my deposit check of $1301 had not been cashed and the windows had not been started. When Marty returned my call the 10th, I mentioned that and he indicated that it was being sent to Baton Rouge that day so the check itself was still in hand in Dallas. It would have been easy to cancel. Later on the 10th, I got a call back from his office in Grand Prairie. I explained the situation and was told by a lady that she would check with a supervisor and get back to me. She never did. I left for the funeral making sure all parties at Window World had my cell number to reach me.
Window World offered to let me make payments and then have the windows put in, which now I don’t need because I have to sell the house for financial reasons. Aside from the fact that I can’t afford to give them another $1301 even if it’s in payments, I will be long gone from this house before the windows are paid for. I don’t know why a big company like Window World who advertises themselves as a “Company who Cares” would treat a disabled senior this way.
I cancelled verbally and in writing before the cancellation period expired. It is not my fault they don’t check email or voice mail after 8pm. If that’s a problem, they need to change their policy to end of business day, not midnight.
I have tried and tried to be patient and communicate with them. Emails have bounced back as undeliverable, I have sent postal mail and left messages. Time to contact the BBB.

Window world came by June 4th, 2012 and gave us a good price.perhaps we should Havel been suspicious. They promised our windows would be installed in four to six weeks. When August 1st came we called. They said "oh, your windows are here but we lost your phone number." we had given them both of our cell numbers and our home phone, so not true. They said the.y would come on Wednesday, called and canceled, okay Thursday, called and cancelled. Set an appointment for Saturday between 11-1. Showed up at 2:20, no phone call. Installed the windows, putting a piece of wood between the brick and window, no insulation, no caulk, did the entire thing from inside so no sealing from the outside. Put some cheap looking trim over the gaps and did a sloppy job of caulking. Spend some more money and hire someone reputable who does good w, ork!

Took almost 5 months to get the installation done -- after a 2 month delay that they did not communicate to me. The workers did a horrible job on one door -- we had to hire another company to re-hang the door. The installers were late the day of the installation, and their front office staffed refused to answer my questions. Very dissatisfied.
incomplete/poor installation and follow up
Salesperson made an unauthorized change on the order, and submitted to the non decision maker for payment--which they were given. Upon having to call Window world out for several poor installed and crooked windows, they agreed to fix the wrongly ordered windows at cost. We understood how the mistake could have occurred. It takes 3 weeks to get windows when ordered new--AT THE MOST.
Nearly 5 months later, we got tired of being lied to about how they'd be there the next week. Oh, but before they would have agreed to order those replacement parts, they required payment on the original incomplete project. In our contract, we clearly had some dry rot wood to be replaced that never was. Unfortunately, we give them an absolute F for communication, F for honesty, F for workmanship, F for followup, and would not recommend them to anyone. Of course, once I decided to look them up in BBB to file a report since they would not return my calls, I found they already had a F rating. Surprise surprise. I let my experience be known on Angies List and BBB. I refuse to let the liars on my property again.

bad service
We ordered windows from Window World several years ago. When the salesperson initially came to take our order he never quoted a price for the cost of the stucco after the put the windows in. we signed the quote he gave us agreed on the price and he would call us for set up time when the windows came in. Windows scheduled for installation and they completed the job after several weeks of canceling on us.. YES, I said several weeks of canceling on us. They FINALLY finished the Job and gave us the bill to pay, which was a lot more than what we had been told or agreed on. the installer said he would have his boss/ the owner call us when he got back to the shop. Never heard from him. I left several messages and dd not get a call back, I got a bill though for the amount that we did not agree on. I had to go to the store and wait for the owner to show up and discuss the bill with him. He was rude and his wife was too. they finally agreed to give me the cost of what I had signed and agreed on, this isn't the end... Two years later I called because on of the screens was broken on the window and needed a replacement. They sent a guy out from Window World to take measurements and he said he would order the screen and it would be in in two weeks. Charge was $50, okay I agreed. Now problem I said. Two weeks comes and they bring the screen to install and it doesn't fit, too small. He takes measurements again and two weeks later it still doesn't fit... LET me tell you, this went on from November of 2010 until August of 2011! They owners wife hung up on me, and they avoided my calls for months! The installer that came the last time to fit the screen on the window didn't even tell us he was at our house. He just showed up put the screen on and left, and it still doesn't fit right! the customer service at Window World in Albuquerque, NM is the worst!

I just recently bought windows from Window World in November of 2013. Upon meeting with thier sales rep I asked for egress windows per local code for the bedrooms and he assured me the windows he ordered would be fine. Due to how busy Window world was I had a loacal contractor install the windows once they were manufactured. 4 out of 14 windows had to be reframed due to poor measurements and they also miscounted the number of windows shorting us one window.
After having a home inspection we were anable to receive a certificate of ocupancy due to the bedroom windows being to small. Windows Worlds response when I called them was we are sorry we can't help you. I do beleive they make a great window but there customer services is horrible
shady business practices
Here's a new one...This company hires convicted felons to come into your home and sell you their products and then pays them under the table so their income isn't reported to state or federal agencies. Thus, they don't have to pay taxes, domestic support obligations or restitution they owe. Not a company I would ever trust to do business with. What do you think?

Sounds like a post from an angry ex wife who wants more alimony. You've basically accused this company of illegal activity. If you can't back it up with facts, I hope the company sues your ###.
window world disaster
On june 28th 2012 @ 2:24 pm I ordered 4 windows from a sales person named william l stoutenger jr. The next morning at 9am I called window world @ [protected]. & william to tell them to not make one of the windows on the invoice. William said it was too late & he had just faxed the order over to yuma (Where they make the windows) & could not stop the order.. We had a disagreement as the order was just faxed & why could’nt he just make a call to yuma & remove the window. He said its to late * & once the invoice order was faxed he could not change it.!
So now I am stuck with a company I do not trust & a window I have to pay for & not use, william said also that to change the order from the original to revise it to exclude the window would be too much paper work!
Now I have to deal with them all the way thru the whole process of the new windows, & also I called william 4 times on his cell phone to reach him with questions. & he ignored me on all 4 calls. I will never refer anyone to these crooks. & they owe me $219.00 for the window I don’t want. I did not & was not told there was a 3 day cancellation policy or I would have cancelled the whole order & gone elsewhere.
complaints
I doubt any of these people complaining about Window World are real. They are one of three companies in the country to have the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. They've received the Consumers Choice Award for 6 years in a row. They're highly rated and recommended by Angie's List. They're the largest window replacement company in the country. Be careful about what you read online people. The facts speak for themselves.
You have got to be kidding me! Why would anybody make that kind of complaint if it wasn't for real?
Secondly, We hired a "local" contractor to replace a double window, that he said he "could" do, but he arrived with a representative
from, you guessed it Window World; and, like everybody else we thought they were a "good" company until we started reading the
complaints. Unfortunately we put $400.00 down on the double window, via check, but after reading the complaints and the long delay
getting the window that was started back in March of this year, we decided to "cancel" but Window World said we could NOT as we
signed a contract, which we do not have a copy of, so we told them we may have to "buy" the window but you will NEVER get to
install it! That is where we stand as of today.
Well, MY complaint is real. We ordered the windows, and they came and installed them...but they were the wrong windows. They finally fixed that and late fall of last year I noticed I couldn't lock my bedroom window. This is after approximately 1 year since installed. It took weeks for someone to come and look at it after being promised someone would be here almost every week..the lied. Finally, someone came and said that ALL the locks were wrong on our windows and had to be replaced. Still waiting...after 2 months for the replacement locks...while we have air leaks IN THE WINTER in each window to the point the water runs down. Window World sucks!
We are still in the process of getting our windows installed and it is a nightmare. After you sign it is impossible to get people to call you back. We agreed to purchase 14 windows under the understanding that the sills "frames" would be replaced since we discussed with the salesman that they were rotting and this was the main reason for replacement since all our windows were wood. we were reassured that would all be done on installtion. the crew showed up and started to install windows in rotted frames. We called and the salesman was mean and nasty and explained it would be an additional $240 a window to do this. He did not mention this when we ordered. They agreed to fix the windows that were rotten for free after we threaten to call a lawyer and the BBB. They installed all the windows and caulked the inside, but did not finish the outsides at all on any of the windows and there are 3 still to be completed. The sales rep told us on the phone someone would be out in a couple of days to finish. We have been calling and people would not call us back until my husband threatened to come to their office and then they called to set up to finish the installtion in another week and 1/2. in the mean time it is getting cold and has rained so wonder how that is working for my windows!
Sir, I think these people are for real because I am, and I to have experienced some of these very issues. Everything from 2 different sales people telling us various and different installation protocols to installers that showed up dirty, looked like a road gang from the 60's, never cared for my home or belongings, and the leader of the crew yelling on the phone to his GF about how much the lawyer was charging to get him off. Installation as others had pointed out was done from the inside, insulation around the window was crap at best, trim work and caulk could have been completed by a High School shop class much better, and clean up was almost non-existant. Confirmation by the office manager further more proved that they are un-licensed sub-contractors, paid peice meal, and more than likely are non-tax paying individuals. Just because someone slaps a seal on something doesnt mean they dont have a percentage of failed products and services. It only suck when your part of that percentage.
labor charge
At this time I have no complaints of the product however the labor charge to install the windows is excessive in cost and work done is severely lacking. I walked the salesman around the to the windows and asked specifically if he saw any problems with the trim. As it works out the installation crew doesn't trim, they only remove it. The interior trim is reused if it doesn't break during removal otherwise they want more money to complete the job. As it worked out the two man crew was here for about 2 hours, their charge was $410 and I was left with buying new trim and finishing the job. Also be wary of the caulking the use. They said it was paintable but in fact it is common silicon that is not.

late summer of 2011 we found out that window world's installation is very poor. the salesman would have had the installers replace the new windows in rotten wood. i had bought and prepped pvc sills, but the installer had to use their cheap crappy pine 2x6's and wanted $60.00 a piece. they just smeared silicone to the interior woodwork and new windows, which every time i open or go by a window it angers me. i had to seal around and under every window on the outside... we tried to contact the company, but no one would reply.
customer service
I dont know how this company has an A with the BBB. Its customer service is Horrible!!! They have a big communication problem between the office and their installers. Their installers are too busy doing other jobs and when they are called, it takes up to a month before they call you back. And the manager in the Memphis location office doesnt even care. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! STAY AWAY!!!

We purchased several windows. Our large picture window came without a wind rating sticker. Installer said it blew off in transit. Said they would pick another up at office and mail it to us. We have to have this to complete inspection process which would have allowed us to receive 2011 rebate from power company and reduction on insurance. Here we still sit...

We showed up at their showroom with our window measurements. Ordered windows and left a 50% deposit. They never contacted us, saying they couldn't get a hold of us. I am home during the day and have an answering machine. We kept calling. Six weeks later we were told they they don't make those windows with our measurements. We go back over and ask for a credit to our credit card, but never got it. Finally, our credit card company took care of the problem. Horrible business practices and sleazy salesman.
We went with another company and are happy with our new windows.
Without knowing who you are we cannot follow up on your situation except to say that, we have never failed to refund a customer deposit even in cases where the customer was truly at fault. It’s just not our business philosophy. If there was a delay because your windows were oversized and couldn't be made we would have known that immediately and would have offered an alternative. Please call our operations manager at the store for more information. After this incident is researched it is possible you would be given a cash credit for any undue delays.
