overdraft
i have been banking with absa for 5 years now with a business account that has an overdraft of R50, 000.00 . a lady phoned me asking me for the proof of residence after 5 YEARS banking now with absa and have an overdraft account. the lady was so rude she slammed the phone in my hear. this is terrible service from your staff and if this does not get action ed. or nothing gets done by this, i take my business account somewhere else.
provident fund
i was retrenched on the 30th June 2015 [protected] or [protected] I have claimed my contributions made to ABSA and they only paid me half of my contributions and the other half still outstanding. I went to 108 fox street, metropolitan building and with no success, to date no money has been paid. I went to 108 and they informed me that its a data problem and confirmed that my company have paid all the contributions, and when I call again at this number [protected] and spoken to Akhona, who refers me back to 108 fox street again. and I called again on the 11 November 2015 and the other lady who refuse to give me her name dropped the phone into my ears. this is unacceptable. they take our money and lie to us that they are saving it for us and lately they fail to give it back.
insurance
Hi I have received a SMS message from Absa AIPservices, [protected] I am informed that "Failure to respond by calling with in 14 days my car insurance premium will go up by 110%, this is R383+442.40, to almost R900.00, Is this how Absa plans to Rob me? Explain this please Ralisebo ID: [protected] +[protected]
claim not been paid out
Enquirey Number: 36051. I have sent emails upon emails, finally getting to a point of "claim to be paid out" reflecting on the Absa Private Provident Fund system as i was told by a consultant.. A Mr Godfrey Motshwari, requested my ID Document and my marriage certificate and said my money would be paid out to me straight away once my documents have been recieved which i sent and he recieved them, only to be told i should be paid out on the 6/10/2015, to this date still nothing. I have had a on going problem for the last 6 months with the Absa Private Provident, giving me the runaround and hearing story upon story. Now i am back to phone back in 2 weeks time again. What does one have to do to get one's claim paid out to one, hire A lawyer? If i should do this i will send the bill to Absa for payment. I am utterly digusted by the way people have been treated and dealt with trying to get their claims paid out to them. Phone numbers have been given to me and they never get answered or exist. So what are we dealing with here a Scam Company? I have recordings of phone conversations with these people, telling me different stories or giving excuses, or they don't know answers. Does it take so long to do a EFT transfer? So now who lying now who do we belive?
internet banking
To begin with, I've been struggeling for so long just for on line or internet banking to work AT ALL. Now they have 'SURECHECK'! Been trying to change my details on my profile, to load new benificiaries, do WHAT EVER. The so called surecheck never comes through to my cellphone. Payments are late. I can do nothing as ABSA AGAIN launched something that is not working. Being a client for 27 years now, this is without doubt time for a change of bank.
I have the same problem with Absa and sure check now it is my IPhone, they say I should get another phone
funeral policy
Good afternoon!
I had a funeral policy for me and my mom from my check account! My debit orders didn't go of for 2 months! I only received a letter from absa on Thursday, informing me that it's cancelled!
I phoned on Friday to ask them to deduct the whole amount owed on the 28th!
They told me mine is reinstated but my mom had to phone herself!
She tried to phone but was unsuccessful to speak to a consultant she managed to get through on Saturday and they told her that it's been restarted! And 3 months waiting period again!I think it is unfair to have a waiting period and new policy after being a client since 2003!
I phoned after my mom told me that and asked how does it work because I was reinstated and she can't be! Then they told me I have the same waiting period! Nobody told me on Friday about that! I was prepared to pay all the outstanding amounts to get it up to date and the treatment I received is unacceptable!
Please investigate

rude, incompetent financial planner
On Tuesday, 18 August 2015 at 10:38, I received a telephone call from the investment team at ABSA branch (tel no. [protected]) to enquire whether she could meet with me to discuss me taking out investments with ABSA. My business account is held with ABSA [protected]. I informed the lady that unfortunately i invest my funds with me personal bank and if they would please stop phoning me every month. She refused to take NO for an answer so I requested her to tell me what rate of return ABSA was offering me. She replied ABSA will provide me a ROR above inflation(6%-6, 5%). I advised that this was too wide because i could assume I will be receiving a 20% return. She then said she does not know and handed the phone to another lady. New lady states that they can provide me with a 12%-15% return. I informed her that i am not willing to lock my funds. She advised I must purchase unit trusts at a 8%-10% return. I asked the financial planner how can she advise me on these 2 investment options considering the volitality of the markets. SHE BANGED THE PHONE DOWN ON ME. YOU PHONED ME, I DID NOT PHONE YOU. IF YOUR FINANCIAL PLANNERS DO NOT UNDERSTAND INVESTMENTS, ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENTS & FINANCIAL MARKETS HOW ARE THEY OFFERING PRODUCTS TO CLIENTS. ABSA HAS A DISCLAIMER ON THE WEBSITE STATING THAT YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DECISIONS MADE AND ANY LOSSES INCURRED ON ANY INVESTMENT, I BELIEVE DOES NOT PRECLUDE YOU FROM ENSURING THAT THE INFORMATION SUPPLIED IS WELL-INFORMED BASED ON DATA WHICH EXISTS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS INDIVIDUALS IN SOCIETY THAT DO NOT UNDERSTAND FINANCIAL TERMS & ENVIRONMENTS & THEREFORE RELY HEAVILY ON THEIR BANKS ADVISE. I THINK IT IS VERY IRRESPONSIBLE FOR ABSA NOT TO ENSURE THAT THE STAFF EMPLOYED IN INVESTMENTS ARE COMPETENT & HAVE SOME LEVEL OF EMPATHY.
absa credit card
I had a credit card with ABSA in 2001. I was handed over for poor payments. I subsequently paid the amount outstanding. I've applied recently (in 2015) for an ABSA mortage bond. My bortgage bond was approved, subject to me giving proof that the ABSA credit card was settled / paid up. I honestly do not have any of the documentation any longer. How do I go about to get help with this ASAP?
credit card charges
I have had a credit card with Absa for a while now and pay it with a debit card. I never skipped a payment and I always pay a little more than what the payment due is. On 20/06/2015 I noticed extra charges on my credit card and asked Absa on their official website, as well as on the internet banking link to phone me urgently regarding this matter. No one phoned me. I phoned them, I was put on hold for a couple of minutes and eventually dropped the phone. I need some one from Absa to phone me urgently or I will have no choice but to cancel all my accounts with Absa (total of 6 accounts) and move to FNB as most of my friends and family has the past year.
credit card delivery
To whom this may concern
I live abroad and whilst in Durban South I had the chance to renew my ABSA credit card. The person in the bank in Durban assured me the new credit card will be delivered to OR Tambo International a day later as this was express delivery, the reason was that this was the airport of my departure, the date was 18th June 2015. Due to the passing of my mom I had to stay in Durban a little longer than expected thus having to delay my outbound flight from Joburg. I went to collect the card at the airport on the 27th June and NOT to my disbelief but the card was not there. After waiting 20 minutes to try and find where the card was, I was informed the card was infact at Greenstone Mall. No person in Durban including myself even mentioned anything about Greenstone so how it got there is beyond me. To top it all up they expect the customer now to go and collect the card after there mishap. I have since cancelled my card and will be looking to transfer my banking to another bank. I have 2 words for ABSA and the second one is USELESS. ABSA take the advice or not but you seriously have to step up your game if you want to compete international banks.
Regards
Patrick
paying for no benefits
good day I have an absa account for a very long time. I have a platinum account aswell as investment accounts, I also have funeral policies at absa and I had my car insurance through absa. everytime when I ask for a increase on my credit account or a loan or a overdraft facility, I was NEVER helped. all other bank contact me on a daily basis to assist me or ask me to move over to them, but I always decline. why cant absa assist me, I always ensure there is money in my account, I don't go over my credit limit or I don't mess up my account. I pay fees in access of over R600 per month, but never did I complain. can I for a change get assistance for absa? is it worth having a platinum account?
insurance claims
I had lodge an accident claim with Absa idirect on the 17th March 2015 and to date1st April2015 the claim has not been settled.
During this 16 day period I only received 3 calls from their lost adjustor. I had to call in for the rest of the time. Today I was told by the loss adjustor, when I called him, that he has done his job and it's up to the admin to settle. The very same answer when I asked on Thursday 26th Mar 2015 and Monday 30th March 2015. He can not give me any contact details of the people in the admin dept. The repairs on the vehicle is minor R18k. The loss adjustors don't believe it is their job to keep the client informed on the progress of their claims. We just go around hitting brick walls . We are given mangers telephone numbers just go to voice messages, they are also not in the habit of returning calls. Staff of Absa i direct believe that they are doing us a favour.
Our premiums go off like clock work wish that was the same for our claims.
interest over charged
We have been under debt review for the last 5 years, we requested last month from Absa finance for a specified statement, and shockingly we have noticed all the interest that has been charged to this account. Just for the month of December last year an amount of R 48000 was charged, and then again another month R 27000 and then R 17000, and so it goes on...Received another statement today showing Term: 126 months, Outstanding Term: 57 months.
How on earth do you explain that? 10 years and 6 months to pay a car off?
from pillar to post
We are currently trying to reach Absa iDirect for a burst water pipe. We have been struggling for the last hour to get hold of them and everyone just keeps putting us through to different departments. Nobody there knows what to do and if you try to explain the situation they just get rude and immediately put you through to another person or they give you another number to call. This is the most pathetic service we have received ever. Management needs to check up on their call centre staff for competency. Everyone says they can't help me and no one wants to do their work.
still no response??
Good Day, after several complaints on Hellopeter I have had no response on what is being paid out to me and the date! It seems as if someone is being dishonest. I have tried calling and being told they will get back to me or my claim has been processed and will be paid out shortly. It has been 6 weeks since I sent in my paperwork and I am still waiting. Due to privacy reasons if someone wants to get hold of me my email address is [protected]@yahoo.com. I seriously think there is something wrong with the department if you go have a look at how many complain that they don't get their money something is not what it seems.
vehicle account on debt review without my consent
To whom it my concern.
I'm absa bank customer my previous car was financed by absa bank in june 2014 was in car accident and my insurance paid the outstanding balance in full.
Again my new car was financed by absa bank, I went to one of their branches to request for debit order because my banking details have changed I phoned the car and vehicle asset department the gentleman who was helping me over the phone told me that my account is on debt view..
My question was how is that possible it is new account and I have never requested for debt counselling and account new I only had it for only 4 months and have been paying my account.
The gentlemen gave me a number to call absa debt review to find out why and who is debt counsellor, but neever got help I was transferred from one consultant to another.
This is reflecting badly on my credit record as customer who can't handle her debt my requests I would like my name to be removed from absa debt review department and would like to pay my vehicle account via debit order because it is convenient and account will be paid on time, won't wait in long queues.

fica - absa

My organisation opened a bank account back in 2009 at ABSA. We always have been treated well until this month of April 2022. This bank turns good solid clients into very unhappy clients where we will take our business elsewhere in the coming months. For 3 solid days I have been treated like a criminal due to their bad way of dealing with FICA processes. I have been "investigated", cross questioned, had to send documents over and over in which they sent me back my constitution and other where I have been asked to return that same email with my own documents just to cross check me over and over if I am not lying! My committee members and other co management members have been phoned over and over, even asked to whatsup, yes you heard correct...whatsup a ID document of a member back to them which in the first place have been emailed to them already! While the account was blocked twice this month without any notice but in fact only notified me when it was blocked already to FICA. I sat with these FICA people for 3 days neglecting my real job and my own organization and staff whom by the way threatened to strike as they have been waiting for their wages for 3 days. Oh yes the fica block came right at the end of the month! I am sick with the flu but i could not relax for one minute as I run a child centre which children that are my clients had to eat and receive medications but I could not access our funds. This is nonsense!
ABSA is by verre die bank wat die swakste diens lewer vir al wanneer dit by lenings kom. Bel 6 verskillende konsultante en die bestuurder en niemand kan mens help nie.
R3500 was drawn from my account while I had my card with me .Case was opened At ABSA HO and even liase with ABSA CEO dept and they refuse to refund me .I requested video footage and did not receive any feedback from then since Jan 2011.My advice to all consumers is to stay away from ABSA
car finance
We left SA as my husband could not get a job. I phoned Absa Vehicle Finance on numerous occassions advising them of our intentions and asking them what the policy was regarding someone leaving SA due to financial reasons and what I should do with my car. I was passed from pillar to post and nobody could or would help me. I eventually had to leave and surrended my car to Absa Legal. Now, 4 months down the line, despite MANY, MANY emails to anyone who would listen, they are STILL sending me statements (even though they have my car) and are raking on thousands of rands of interest despite me BEGGING them to help me etc. I have emailed the banking ombudsman and no reply. Seriously what does one do. I can be emailed on
Finally made contact with ABSA.
home loan
I'm
a homeowner going through a very bad patch. When I got divorced I took
ownership of the house think I could manage it. Im a single mom with 2 small
children and had almost no support from the fathers. I made an arrangement with
ABSA to pay ex amount which they agreed to. Then I had to place myself under
debt review. My ex husband had a friend at ABSA and as I was trying to get him
to pay child support he got his friend to check my details on my home loan.
When I contacted ABSA in natal they said no records have ever been checked yet
my ex husband could have never have known if I was behind on payment and who signed surety for me and ABSA did not
even contact my ex husband for details of his dealings with this matter. Now
even though I have lawyers as im under debt review ABSA auctioned my house and
my lawyers have contested the action. I was also not notified my house was auctioned
until the woman that bought the house came to my house in front odf my children
and basically said she wants in her house and we must leave, my children were
in tears as now we will be homeless. I'm
getting non stop threats of eviction even though my lawyers have all the
paperwork for the appeal. But now ABSA has no right to hand out my details by
law and then basically bully me. I'm a single mom basically hanging on for dear
life to keep what I have. The woman since then has "left" ABSA and
ABSA says the matter is over and no information was passed on to a 3rd party. I
still pay what they agreed to back then but to my lawyers dealing with the
matter. But how can anyone by law at a bank hand out my details are the banks
above the law. And as I have checked on the internet ABSA seem to have record
of being bullies and doing as they please.
I have asked them to please give me a chance to sell my house as the
house is worth R1 200 000 and they auctioned it for R700 000.00. Im now going to go public about absa as I'm not the only person they have done this too. And forever have the sheriff at my house threatening to have me removed by force. Even though my lawyers have appealed and they may not do this.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
eft transfer missing
I made an instant deposit from Nedbank to Absa on 6 March 2014 in the sum of R3000.00 into an absa autobank account and, to date, the money does not reflect in beneficiaries account and not reversed back into my account. The beneficiary has made enquiries to no avail as Absa state they cannot find this money. It is bizarre, how can the money just disappear? Nedbank have been extremely helpful trying to trace everywhere on their side but cannot do anything without the assistance of Absa. Pls can someone look into this
