I was booked on a flight, (ref # 465vbo, ticket # [protected]) scheduled to depart sydney ns enroute to toronto with a connection to edmonton. The flight was delayed from 14:35 until after 21:00 when we finally got off the ground.
Of course myself and others missed our connections. The air canada employee who assisted us at the service desk advised that we would be entitled to delay compensation in the amount of $700 cad and gave us the pamphlet as well as meal and hotel vouchers as we were forced to spend the night in toronto and fly out the next day.
Then my baggage got lost and was missing for three days.
I claimed the delay compensation and was denied with the claim even though it was within air canada control it was a safety issue. The fact that there was no plane available in sydney is a scheduling and inventory issue. Not having enough planes to provide service if they break is not exactly a safety issue.
That is just a loop hole of language in order to get out of paying compensation to people who were very inconvenienced. But clearly in paragraph 4 it indicates that "or required for safety" still entitles passengers to the "standards of treatment.
I expect the matter to be reviewed and I expect to be compensated according to the appr.
Sincerly,
Robert todd ralph
Desired outcome: Delay Compensation 700 CAD
