Subcontracted asplundh tree trimmers
Alabama hired the company known as Ashplundh Tree Trimming Service (from HELL) to go around and trim around power lines and trees on everyones propery that Alabama Power took a right away on. I have never given my permission for Alabama Power Company to take 30 feet of my property for their right of way. I have 3 acres of woods and several kinds of wild animals such as deer, rabbits and birds to name a few, as well as bobcats and even an ostrich that moved into my woods for a week. This so called right of way was wooded with trees. I never disturbed it because of the wild animals that made their home there. I have 3 acres at 555 Brothers Avenue, Wilsonville, Alabama.
When I saw that these people were destroying my property I asked them to leave. They had a truck with a long pole and would cut everything in site, they actually took that saw and cut away one side of a tall cedar tree, leaving it with no limbs at all on one side of the cedar tree. They destroyed a beautiful blooming crepe myrtle on the front of my property. The man who was cutting with that infernal saw told me that they could make any mess they wanted to because the so called property that I owned was not maintained as a right of way and they could leave mess and ruts from tires on their trucks if they wanted to. They did not have permission to come up my driveway and make deep ruts there. I am disabled and cannot clean up their messes. I am well aware of the damage caused by Alabama Power since as a child I saw what they did to my grandparents house and my uncles house just off the dirt road that went down to the river. The Power Company flooded both places and that was that! My father worked as a lineman for the power company when he got out of the navy and I am pretty sure that he would be totally disgusted with what Alabama Power has done now that affects the citizens of this town. They assured the town council members that they would clean up the cesspool they had made to bury their poison ash from the smokestacks that continually belched toxic ash out into the neighborhood. They did but at the same time they were building another pond that was at least 3 times as big to dump their poison ash. This was dishonest and callous. Maybe they need to move to Brothers Ave and experience what I am talking about. I have developed COPD because of the ash dumped on my property and have to take breathing treatments for the congestion. I doubt seriously that I am not the only person that has health problems from living near the smokestack and the filthy ash pond. I have lived here for 21 years and I live alone.
Desired outcome: It is all about the Benjamins. The parties involved don't care about the lost habitats of all the creatures or the people that live there.
Lineman refused to stop for a SCHOOL BUS!
To those concerned,
At 1510 hours on 14 September 2021 while driving East on Highway 160 near Old Hayden road, I observed a Alabama Power Line Utility Truck which was directly in front of me traveling the same direction fail to stop for a Blount County School Bus as it stopped in front of the Ark academy going the opposite direction.
The school bus was clearly and fully stopped but the driver kept going putting the safety of all at risk.
I took a short video of the Alabama Power Truck and it's markings.
I am a retired police officer and have a lot of respect for Southern Company. I am sure you would want to investigate this ASAP.
My contact information is Jon.[protected]@gmail.com
My cell phone number is [protected]
Desired outcome: Reprimand.
Repeated service interruption and rates
Over the past 5 months I have experienced multiple power outages and surges that resulted in fried a/c components and blown heating elements in my stove, and dryer. Fried a washing machine and a home computer a tv and a lamp. Not to mention enjoying the Alabama heat with out a/c. Yet my rates have increased while service has decreased. Maybe trimming trees and maintenance would help I don't know. I hat I do know is I loose power at minimum of once a week and am fed up with it. Get it together people.
Power reliability
Since April 21, 2021, my power service has been out 21 times. Each time, I have notified Alabama Power about the outage. I have spoken to customer service a few times and they will transfer me to engineering. I have received one call from engineering, but they no longer respond to my calls or emails.
Although the automated response email says that someone at Alabama power will respond to my email in one -two business days, I don't receive a call or return email to my notifications.
Desired outcome: Reliable power service
Subcontractor hired by Alabama Power to clean around power poles, power lines etc.
I live at 555 brothers avenue in wilsonville, alabama. I have 3 acres of mostly woods. The subcontractors from asplunk? Were hired by alabama power to clear the lines. They unnecessarily used their big trucks and came on my property and cut out the tops of my trees and
Left gouges on my property, some at least 1 foot deep and all my grass is gone. I don't know what they were thinking but they have absolutely ruined the looks of my property with their big saws on the end of a pole in their huge truck that has gouged deep holes on my property. I did have grass where the mud holes are now and I have sticks that were formerly trees all up and down my property on the so
Called right of way. I have been here for nearly 20 years and no one has ever destroyed my property like these people did.
I am disabled and cannot physically go out there and clean up their mess. I feel like an alabama power supervisor should come out to my property and see the mess they have made. I truly wish that alabama power would remove their power poles from my property and put them somewhere better besides my property.
I need for someone to replant the grass so there are not any more mudholes and foot deep gouges where their huge trucks came on my property without my permission and proceeded to cut everything in sight. My neighbors across the
Had a beautiful cedar tree that was huge and the company you hired actually removed all the limbs on one side of the tree and ruined it.
These people need to take lessons from the power company in new orleans where they conserve the trees as much as possible there.
Desired outcome: Remove all debris from property where they indiscriminately gouged out tire tracks a foot deep and replant my grass with sod to the edge of my woods.
I truly hope that the power company will send someone out to look at this mess that the subcontractor made on my property. I realize that they are the
ones responsible for hiring the subcontractors and it is their responsibility to make sure that these people do a good job without destroying property.
If I worked for the Alabama Power Company I would surely come out and see for themselves what these people have done to my property!
Sub contractor
On 8/4/2021, sub contractors were working on a line that has been on the ground since Hurricane Zeta in the woods down from my 91 yr old Mother (Juanita Miller) at 82 Miller Dr. in Sylacauga. For what ever reason they decided to drop the box with the cable and cut the line for her cable and phone to her house. It evidently also caused a spike which destroyed her wireless Apple router. The cable company can't get out to repair it until 8/9/2021. The subs told my mother that she wouldn't have cable and left. I can't believe they would cut her cable and then not try to make an attempt to have it fixed. I personally went and bought material to splice the cable so she could have TV and phone so she wouldn't be isolated. I think the subs owe her an apology and reimburse her for at least the router that was ruined by the spike. The cable company will repair her cable correctly next week but I'm disappointed by how she was just left in the dark. I'm just glad I could temporarily get her connected. My phone # is [protected] Thanks you, Craig Miller
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for new router
Receiving bill Late.
Today is August 2nd and I just received my Alabama power bill for service for july, through the 22nd. WHY AM I JUST NOW RECEIVING MY BILL. AND BILL SHOWING IT IS DUE AUGUST 6th? That is only 4 days for PO to get my payment to you. YOU HAD plenty of time to mail it to me before AUGUST. I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH WHOEVER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH POOR SERVICE. WHO IS NOW RUNNING YOUR COMPANY, THAT USED TO BE A GOOD COMPANY? APPARENTLY AN UNQUALIFIED PERSON.I tried to reach you at phone number on my bill, BUT THAT DOES NOT HELP EITHER. PUT THE CORRECT PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR BILLING STATEMENT FOR THOSE WITH BILLING PROBLEMS. YOU HAVE A BIG PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. BOBBIE COBB. WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Desired outcome: Start mailing bills in timely manner in the future
Budget billing
Budget billing is nothing like it was explained to me on the phone. The bill remained the same for only a couple month. When I asked for it to stop, they want to charge me an absolute stupid difference they say I owe. Even the months I overpaid. I should receive credit for amounts paid over the actual bill. It would help if employees would explain the way this works. Especially to older customers. The employee really talked up this program. Wonder if they are told to push this program.
Desired outcome: Pay only what I owe.
Overcharges
I am noticing a consistently ridiculous billing of $5 per day for over a week, although power consumption in my apartment is the same. I have even turned off the AC to notice if this would alter it. But the billing amount remains the same regardless of it. So, I request the refund for the overcharged amount, as this spike in charges is not consistent with my consumption. I request the concerned staff to check the issue and resolve it, along with refunding me the surplus charges.
Thanks,
JD
Destruction of personal property
I was notified yesterday that Alabama power needed to trim back my tree because it was too close to the powerlines. Today they came out and the young man in the bucket truck was very nice and was careful about trimming the tree so it wasn't too deformed. Not too long later a man with a big buzz saw came and hacked the crap out of the tree, cutting it back much further from the lines than the 15 feet required. He was on my property with his tractor and making a giant mess and destroying my tree. Now there's a massive pile of debris in my yard and who knows when that will get cleaned up. There was no effort whatsoever to take care when trimming a gorgeous Bradford pear and they have turned it into a mangled mess. There has got to be some recourse for this type of destruction and vandalism. The real joke in this whole matter is if the tree comes down, it's the top of the tree that will take out the power lines but the top was not touched at all. Ridiculous!
Susan Smith, 113 Kentwood Terrace, Alabaster AL 35007, Phone [protected]
Desired outcome: I would appreciate Alabama Power sending a proper tree surgeon out to try to straighten out the mess made by the Echo vandal.
My power
I went to alabama power in prattville alabama to dispute the power bill at my home and the supervisor put a note on my account that i could only come to the prattville store i went to the montgomery store not knowing that they put a note on my account and continued to pay a $1, 366 power bill to get my power turned back on and i went home and my power got turned off after 5 after they had already activated the power so now we have to wait until monday to deal with a specific person to turn my power back on when i dont even live in the city that she is trying to force me to deal with im out of pocket 1300$ i dont have power and cant talk to anyone until monday morning .
Desired outcome: I need my power turned back on because i paid the full balance and they waited till after business hours to turn my power off so that i could do nothing about it

after paying the power bill on March 13th with a Alabama power customer service representative my service was disconnected. The Service Tech came out to the home on March 15 to disconnect the service and I spoke with the tech and explained that the bill had been paid. The same Tech came back the following day and disconnected the service on the 16th. I was told the service would be restored within 24 hours and that has not happened.
When I moved into this property I was told to pay the bill using Simple Bill which I have paid the bill with them too on March 3rd 2021. At this point the power has been disconnect for over 24 hours and my food is starting to spoil and I have been told several different times the service will be restored. At this point I need some immediate assistance. As I have personally gone to Alabama Power in person to speak with someone and still no resolve. I showed them the lease and the utility agreement saying the bill will be handled through Simple Bill and still no resolve. I need some assistance with this issue. I was told today that the service would be restored today and still again no resolve.
I need this issue resolved.
Desired outcome: Power Restored Immediately
Billing
In the beginning, I was charged from $65-$78 but since the pandemic, the company has been acting suspicious. First without request or notice they cease charging and picking up calls and used my deposit for payments. So the amount would be $0.00 instead of explaining the charge before deduction they told me to log into my account which I can't see due to the...

Lost my job due to covid-19 at the end of March so I made an arrangement for the bill in September to pay the bill off in three separate payments lights was turned off in November so I had to make a payment in full to get service reconnected and I also have to make good on the arrangements made...

My mother passed away unexpectedly on June 9th 2020 after undergoing triple bypass surgery.
After her passing I discovered she was almost $1, 000 behind on her power bill at the time of passing. I called and spoke with an extremely rude representative who, after explaining, informed me that until her bill was paid it full, they could not transfer or shut off service. Ultimately the home is a rental and there are new tenants wanting to move into this home and I am being told that's not possible until her bill is paid in full. Which I cannot afford being out of work during covid, also a single mother of 2 children and a mother who didn't have life insurance and I had to out of pocket bury.
I literally cannot pay it. I asked the lady, "So you are telling me that yall are charging a deceased person for power?" How in the hell can this company force a family member who isn't on any type of contract with this company to be held accountable? By law you cannot go after anyone's family for a debt of a deceased individual unless that person is under a contract with the company.
This means this rental home cannot have electricity turned on for any tenants following my mother until this bill is paid in full. Its absolutely ridiculous! Every other debt my mother had allowed a death certificate to clear her name or mine of anything she owed. I will be seeing an attorney about this! It completely illegal! Alabama power is greedy and should be ashamed of themselves for constructing business this way. I cannot even fathom how they get away with type of scamming of money.
Power
I have called and complained a few times. I have underground power. Alabama Power came in and added a bunch of hardware on our power pole. Since the hardware was added, the power is so revved up, it is vibrating my entire side wall of my house. I have two bedrooms on that wall. Two neighbors use 5G and have a car that you charge. The people at Alabama Power spend two minutes and look at the smart meter. It's the hardware on the pole. It vibrates my house & has turned it into a torture resonance chamber. It feels like a generator under my house.
Frequent power outages
We have frequent power outages in our neighborhood even when there not bad weather. This is a black neighborhood and we have contacted ala. Power several times about this issue but no improvements have been made to the area. Obviously there needs to be an equip. Update! These are some dates we have had outage 6//13/18, 6/26/19, 7/16/18, 8/22/18, 2/22/192/18/19, 3/7/19, 4/22/19, 5/1/19, 5/21/19, 6/7/19, 6/19/19, 4/19/20, 5/1/2011/7/20, 11/7/20, 12/1/20. No one in the city of montgomery has these many power outages we have spoken to neighbors in other areas. We would like the same power system that vaughn rd. And other areas such as that have.
Making me pay someone else's bill
My father had his power turned in October for non payment. Now alabama power wants me to pay his bill before I can get power in my name. What I want to know is how can they make me pay a bill that's not mine. I was not living in his home so why should I pay his bill
Abdication of responsibility to public safety public is unable to report dangerous conditions
The public is unable to report dangerous conditions despite the fact that Alabama Power claims that you can call them or go to the website however there is no method of reporting dangerous conditions offered either by phone or by using the website. They make an announcement that includes incorrect assumptions. (Stating that you might get a busy signal) this is incorrect and false. The Phone Company is not having any problems delivering calls to the automated computer system. You just cannot contact this company at all. The local (Collection Offices) Do not even publish a phone number. . . Now Tell me how this is in any way something that a company under the authority of the public service commission should be allowed to do business? This company is in serious trouble when you cannot even contact them to let them know that there is a dangerous condition present. On Friday there were wires down in the road and children were playing close to those wires. (No way to Contact Alabama Power exists) This needs to be adjudicated in the courts and with the public service commission. I encourage anyone else that has not been able to obtain reasonable service to contact the attorney general of the state of Alabama and the public service commission and make a complaint. This has to end.
Deposit to start service
I recently purchased a new home and having the power turned on in my name, I currently live in an apt that has two months left on lease so instead of transferring power I have to leave power on while I am leasing so I had to start new service. I received an email stating that It would be $250.00 because 4 years ago they charged off an amount due. Now, since then I have had new service at my current apartment for 2 years. I did not have to have a deposit. Plus, I was out of work 4 years ago I told them I was paying on the balance weekly, BUT, they said they received my payment after it was charged off. I never received any mail or correspondence that this was happening. I also got a new washer and dryer in their service center for having perfect payment history. So now, during a pandemic they want to charge me from 4 years ago because they charged something off. Forget about my perfect payment history for the last two years that was set up on auto payment. Forget the perfect payment history on a washer and dryer and fridge I purchased 6 years ago.
