tree trimming
We had someone come and trim limbs on Friday and failed to remove them. I was 30 minutes late to work because the limbs were blocking my driveway, so I had to move them before I could leave my home; I am a nurse and getting to work on time is priority for me! My grandparents live next door, at 80 years old there is no way that they could move those limbs out of the yard. This is very irritating and I do not expect it to happen again.
billing
I had power turned on in my house for a week waiting to close on the sale. Noting was on but I still got a bill for almost a $100 even though they admit that no kilowatts were used. Alabama Power kicks for ways to cheat the customer. On the day I had the power disconnected O was told the charges, when I got the bill it was more that doubled. Talking on the phone they are extremely rude and have no concern for the customer especially when you move to another state.
turning off power
Your company is ridiculous. I have a power pole that has been leaning for over 25 years. I received a notice to correct this problem. After contacting an electrical company to hire to do this I was postponed several times. While being postponed, I was in constant communication with Alabama customer service letting them know about being postponed. Monday I spoke to the rep and told her that it would be corrected on Tuesday at 11; 00 and that I would call before 5:00 to confirm this. I called back at 4:15 Tuesday to let them know that the company needed to reschedule for Wednesday at 8:00. They told me (Ms. Brown and Shanta) that the disconnect order was completed at 2:16.
This is totally ridiculous and is unconvincing me to the max. NEED MY POWER BACK ON NOW!

service
My bill is only 8 days past due and they would not give me a Payment arrangement. I spoke with soneone in my local office and they tried to help by notating my account saying I will be able to pay the balance in a week but custoner service (1-800 number) saying that there is no guarantee that I would not be disconnected. I spoke with someone at Alabama public service commission and there was no help there neither. They do whatever they want to because they know there is no other power company to go with. I wouldn't recommend anyone to Alabama power.
meter reading
My power bill is being made up my reading on my meter says 505 error for the month of may I'm at work for over 13hrs and don't understand how I keep getting a 100.00 or more power bill. Call the woman I talk to before Carol was rude told me and call today leslie didn't from the tone of her voice and upset because it takes 7 to 10 days to come and check your meter may 26 is 9 days that is so so sad to be treated that way. I just feel like I'm being over charge I just wanted my meter check out Thank You Natalie Ford
tv purchase
I bought a 65" Samsung TV from Alabama Power about 6 months ago before moving into my new home. They knew I was moving and told me the day I purchased it that the only one they had was damaged. They brought out my TV and it wasn't set up like they were suppose to. I left the TV in the box and now I am ready to set it up, the TV is damaged. They told me it is nothing they can do and now I am stuck with a bill.
theft of power
At address 7395 Foxland Dr. Irvington, Al They continue to hook up power illegally. As soon as the power company leaves the ladder goes back up. This has been a continuous problem. They do the same thing with water. Someone will probably get shocked. They are hooking up at the top of pole. I think their names are James and Merrie Elmore. Please look into this issue before someone gets hurt
running power lines to my new house
Me and my husband bought a new mobile home October of 2016 and it was delivered and set up by the beginning of December. We called Alabama Power the day they brought the house on the land to get them to come out and get power hooked up. They have sent one guy out to look at the trees that needed to be cut, he marked like 8. After he marked them he left and it's been weeks since we have heard anything else from them. Since he's marked the trees, we have cut all but 3 of them down our selves. But there are some that we just can't cut ourselves. Come January 9th we called back to see if someone was coming to cut these trees and the lady, I think her name was Ariel, said she was told that the guy had already come out. He did not. So then she said she would call him and find out and call us back. She never did. So a few days later we call her back, it was a Wednesday, and she tells us that the guys would be out Tuesday. So we were pissed that we had to wait yet another week. Tuesday comes and guess what. The tree guys haven't called to confirm that they are coming out and we called back and Ariel said they should have called us. I'm getting real sick of this waiting game with y'all. It's been over a month now waiting on power so I can move into my house. Do something about this terrible service in the Shelby County Area.

Bad Service
service
My bill has been steadily climbling. Onemonth it may be 350 and the next is 450. Now last month my bill was 673.22. I called alabama power and got the run around because there is no way my bill should be that high. Its just me and my daughter. Well 2 weeks ago I called to ask about the status of the review of my account since a supervisor never called me back. I was told that I had to pay the bill or my power will be shut off. And considering I work from home and my daughter takes breathing treatments I had to suck it up and pay the bill. I wrote a check for 673.22 on a monday. That wednesday the check cleared. Now here it is 2 weeks later acter I have recieved another bill of 488.16 that they decided to turn my power off. I was trying to explain to the man that turned my power off that my daughter was taking a breathing treatment and if he would just give me another 5 mintues to let her finish the treatment he could turn it off. Well he turned it off anyway and I had to rush my child to the e. r. when I get to the e. r I called alabama power to see why they shut my power off and they told me it was because of a returned check. Now my bank says that the check cleared and it is almost showing that on my bank statement but its not in alabama power system. They told me that my check was returned 2 weeks ago then my queation is why wasnt it turned off then so I wouldve known that this was an issue. Instead you cause me more frustration and time and worry to hanfle something that was alabama power mistake.
a 522 bill in my name
Back in 2015 I moved out my apartment and a lady was staying there but she kept the light on in my name I wasn't stating there didn't know the lady me and my family moved and now we have a house and wants to get lights we have little kids so we need our lights please help I didn't know the lights were still on in my name this had been almost a year now since my family and I has been gone
service
I asked to cancel my service from the apartment several weeks before leaving through customer service. When I moved to another city, they mailed me a statement for the time the apartment was vacant (after my lease expired) AND when a new tenant moved in (they didn't bother to change the name on the account). I had to leave before my lease expired and didn't mind paying for that time since the apartment was still in my name, but they would not accept any kind of verification that I had left the apartment, would not waive any charges, and were very rude in the process. 3 months later, I am stuck with charges for the time that I moved out and an extra month with usage. The people at customer service I talked to trying to fix this were extremely rude and I could not get anywhere. Now I just had to pay over $250 extra dollars so they wouldn't send my account to collections and ruin my credit. Just because they have a monopoly, I guess they can do whatever they want. I'm very glad I don't live in Alabama anymore just for these belligerent thieves.
past due bill for $410.32
Today 02/16/2016 a man that works for AL Power came to my house with a disconnect ticket due to my past due amount for 2 months totaling $410.32. I spoke with the representative and he said that I had until 1 pm today to call the power company to talk to them about payment on my bill. I told this man that I get paid on Thursday and the reason it was late is due to car repairs that were not covered under warranty on my 2012 Optima which were very expensive. He said I would have to speak with customer service directly. I said, ok. I called the customer service 800 number and spoke with a younger man and explained my entire situation and begged that I could pay in full on Thursday. He said the bill must be paid today due to it being for 2 months of service. I told him that I understood but I only have one person that I could ask for help with this bill (my father) and he was on the golf course and I had not been able to reach him yet. I told him that he will pay the bill for me but I had to speak to him to get payment. I asked if there was a way for me to contact the disconnect service guy so that I could have at least until 3 pm because I knew I would be able to reach him by then. He stated (rudely) I'M SORRY BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU EXCEPT TAKE PAYMENT. I said really? you can't send a message to him requesting him to call me or give me a number to call him? He said, NO ONCE A DISCONNECT TICKET IS ISSUED THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO OR GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM. I said so is this man a subcontractor? He said, No. I said you have got to be joking, so a person that works for the power company was generated a ticket for disconnect and is out on 33+ disconnect calls (per guy from earlier) and customer service cannot reach him? THAT MAKES ABSOLUTELY ZERO SENSE! I WAS ASKING FOR 2 HOURS, THAT WAS IT 2 HOURS TO GET IN TOUCH WITH MY FATHER TO MAKE THE PAYMENT. I have a full time job and I am a single mother to 2 children... I don't even know what we would have done having no power when we got home. Hard times happen for everyone, even this rude little man that I spoke with in customer service. The bill was under $500 on an account that has NEVER been disconnected. Obviously, you care nothing about your customers because if you did you would look at each case to see previous history and call the phone number on the account before disconnection or at a bare minimum be able to give 2 additional hours to pay. This may not be anything to anyone that works for Alabama Power since you are the only choice anyone has to use but I could not let this just go unheard. I had to go to the golf course, get on a golf cart and go find my father to make the freaking payment. I just believe that was a bit extreme and harsh. Karma my friends karma i'll pray yall have more patience with people that live paycheck to paycheck and receive ZERO government help just trying to make it... PEACE!
help
I've already gone through the trouble of having my services disconnected which causes other problems such as its causes my son's asthma to flare up, food loss, etc. Money has been paid to reestablish service yesterday before 11 am they still have not come to turn it on which is the next day at 2 pm. That says a lot about the company and a select few people who works for that company! Times like this makes me regret ever returning back to AL!
whirlpool refrigerator
I purchased a whirlpool refrigerator through Alabama Power not too long ago. About a month ago it began to "knock" loudly and all the food began to freeze solid in the fridge. A tech finally came after a week and a half of this and said it would be another two weeks for the correct part to come in. I have been unable to use it since and the food I did have is spoiled. A rep from Al power called and gave me a number to whirlpool. the number was incorrect.
budget billing
I just investigated an issue with my budget billing to see why it is so high (to my home usage). Over the past 17 bills, I have usage in the amount of $2398.86. Over those same 17 months I was charged the amount of $2719.00 This is $320.14 more than I actually used in my home over those 17 months. My budget billing ranges were $145, $162 and $169 over those 17 months. One could reasonably expect my bills would be and average of $141.11 per month, but instead were mostly $169. Actually 9 of those bills were $169. From 3/27/2015 - 9/28/2015 my budget bill was $169, yet my actual bills ranged from $90.34 - $152.86. I just now see that my new bill is going to drop to $152!?!?!? Yet my usage just went down to $90+ What a joke and I hope someone starts a class action lawsuit against them!
Their bill history I was using had 2 bills that were used in my calculations. 1 was a credit and the other was just a duplicate (which shouldn't be there anyway). This made my calculations appear that I had a double over payment on my budget, which in turn was incorrect. This basically split what I thought I over paid in half (which is actually correct and makes sense).
Budget Billing increases outstripping my Social Security income increases. In 2018 I was paying $161 per month on my budget billing, and over the last 4 years it has steadily crept up, to $203, $219, etc. And is now being charged at $242 per month! I am only one person living here, I have not changed anything, and I cannot for my life figure out why I am paying $80 more per month than 4 years ago? I only receive $936 per month of Social Security, and this huge bill for electricity causes me to fall behind and then I have to ask Social Services (Community Action) for assistance with my bills every year or two. My central air conditioning system has completely broken down, and Alabama Power will not extend me credit to replace it, even though I have lived at this same address since 2011 when I returned disabled from working in Iraq, and have since reached Social Security age, and will be 70 this year. I need help in lowering my monthly bill, and I need help to finance a new Air Conditioning system. I have got three quotes and Paul Netherland was working with me to get financing, which so far he has never been able to get them to approve.
my deposit to began services
I have applied for new services but was told I would have to pay a 447.00 deposit. I found out yesterday that I had a previous balance of 15.00 from my previous address 5302 23rd blvd Valley Alabama. I was sent to collections unaware of this owed balance. I think this is a ridiculously high amount of a deposit for me to pay. Why didn't anyone contact me from Alabama Power about this 15.00, before sending it to collections. I also found out that I had been sent to collection at a prior address for a 200.00 balance but she informed me that I had paid the 200.00. I am going to pay this 15.00 this week when I receive some income. I just don't believe I should have to pay a deposit that is so high.
payment method
went into my local Alabama Power Company with a new visa debit card provided by my tribe PCI utility program.. card distributor is dsbenfit.com... woman refused to look at the card refused to touch the card.. when on saying something bout a PIN number so she wouldn't take my payment on my light bill today.. I was totally treated like if I had brought in a bounced check to pay my light bill... come home got in touch with Alabama Power over the phone had no problem they took the card number down they took the 3 digit numbers off the back they wanted my area code BAM my bill was paid so can anybody tell me why this damn woman up here in this local office in atmore Alabama refused to take this visa debit card going on about a PIN number didt need no pin number over the damn phone one thing I don't think she likes Indians long as I was in there to pay my bill who cares if the card had a PIN number or not.. I guarantee you they don't refuse anyone elses card... isn't it bad enough when you walk through the door and this local office they look at you like what in the hell are you doing here in the first place.. and if your company wants to refuse my payment then I should know y'all a damn thing because you don't put the city and refuse someone's payment no matter if it's in cash check debit or credit card
I am a member of the poarch Creek Indians here in Atmore Alabama they have issued US a PCI utility card which supposed to be used for your utilities my light company is Alabama Power I went into the local office today to use my PCI utility card which is a visa debit card ..which today on April 1th the card was activated with a balance of $800 on it for me to use on my utilities..the lady sitting at the desk would not look at the card she did not want to touch the card she said you could not use this card here she started speaking about some kind of pin number so I came home got on the phone with Alabama Power had no problem to use the card over the phone service I want to know why they would not take that card in the local office but it is very eligible to be used over the phone service...basically for an example I was treated like if I brought in a damn bounced check...or is it a personal reason of hers why she will not take this PCI Visa debit card issued by dsbenfits.com company...since she wants to throw a PIN number up in my face in the office the phone service did not ask for a PIN number at Alabama Power Company over the phone...I will be getting in touch with poarch Band of Creek Indians here in Atmore Alabama my tribe to find out what the problem is... is it on Alabama Power end or is it on poarch Creek Indians end..why this local so called Alabama Power office refused to take this card as a payment...and I do believe tour. Racism has something to do with this because the lady is black he does not get benefits she does not belong to a tribe
