Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated is not very responsive to customer requests, issues, and complaints
Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated is not very responsive to customer requests, issues, and complaints. I have encountered problems with my flood sensor, door sensors, police response, cameras, and more. At first, they would respond, but once the issue became more complicated, they stopped responding altogether. I have repeatedly asked for records of service outages, as there have been numerous during my contract period. They assured me they would provide the records, but weeks have passed, and I still haven't received them. It was quite unsettling when the cameras were down during an emergency shelter-in-place order due to a dangerous criminal on the loose.
Absolute liars
Absolute liars. I was told by Sheri, their salesperson, that they would do a "soft" credit check before they installed the alarm system. What actually happened was their finance company did a "hard" credit check AND registered a home improvement loan on my credit bureau. This was not divulged until I received a notification from Equifax. When I addressed this issue with Sheri, she brushed it off and said that I had signed a 5-year agreement and there was nothing I could do. The equipment they installed failed, and the alarm kept my family up all night. They fixed the problem eventually, only to have another sensor fail shortly thereafter. This company is shady, to say the least. I can't wait to get out of this contract and use a reputable business.

I called about my security cameras not working over a month ago
I called about my security cameras not working over a month ago. I talked to a rep who booked an appointment. No one showed up and I haven't been able to reach anyone since then. I'm paying for a service I'm not getting and there's nothing I can do.
They made a mistake by selling our information to unknown parties
They made a mistake by selling our information to a third party. They didn't keep their promise when we moved. Sales representatives in the past three years were unreliable. The head of AlarmTek was not trustworthy. They installed it on September 11. Our customer number is confidential.
I'm having problems with AlarmTek and the system they installed for me
I'm having problems with AlarmTek and the system they installed for me. I've emailed them and left over 6 messages, but they haven't called me back at all. It seems like I'm the one who always has to call in and leave messages without getting any response. I'm not impressed at all. They say they have award-winning service, 5 stars, but once you sign the contract, they ignore you. I definitely wouldn't recommend AlarmTek! There's only one technical support person, ***, who has tried to help me. They called me back and made an effort to fix my issue.

I signed a contract with Alarmtek in Sep 2020, and since then, I've had unresolved issues with most of the cameras they installed
I signed a contract with Alarmtek in Sep 2020, and since then, I've had unresolved issues with most of the cameras they installed. Out of the 5 cameras, 3 of them keep disconnecting and losing data. It's gotten so bad that I had a package stolen from my doorstep, and I couldn't find the clip because the camera wasn't working properly. Many technicians have come over to try and fix the problem, but none of them could figure it out. They would leave, promising to come back with a solution, but they never followed up. When we call or send emails, we get ignored. As of today, a year later, 3 cameras are still not functioning properly. I have pictures and video records that prove my issues. I've been paying monthly for a year now for equipment that doesn't work. I really need this to be fixed. If you can't provide a reliable service, then please cancel the contract and refund me for the 3 non-working cameras.
I got a call from Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated and they set up a time for a technician to come to my house
I got a call from Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated and they set up a time for a technician to come to my house. When he arrived, he didn't have the right lock for my front door like we had discussed. I didn't notice at the time because I was working from home. I paid the service fee and made sure it was $50 per month for the next 5 years. The problem is, it's been less than 48 hours and my system isn't working. Neither my door code nor my key is working. Whenever I try to call them, nobody answers the phone. I can't even get inside my own house! To make matters worse, they took $5,035 out of my bank account this morning. I don't even have that much money in my account, so I'll probably get hit with NSF fees. And I have a feeling they'll keep trying to take money out, causing the same problem, until they eventually charge it to the credit card they already have on file. I wish I could upload my contract, but it was on the technician's phone and the print was so small that I could barely read it. Plus, they didn't give me a copy.

Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated (http://www.alarmtek.ca/) Review:
They totally ignored my requests to cancel their services. On May 9th, we had a power issue that lasted for a whole week, but Alarmtek didn't bother to call us. Then, on June 16th, there was a breach in our garage, and their alarm kept blaring for more than 5 minutes without any response from Alarmtek. We signed a contract with them to monitor our house, but they completely broke it by not doing their job. That's why I've been trying to cancel the contract, but the manager has been ignoring me. I've reached out to them through phone, text, email, and even on paper, but they just don't care. The manager is making false claims about their service, trying to prove it with some fancy excel sheet that can be easily manipulated. We even filed an insurance claim for the power outage, and I was personally there when the breach happened in the garage, so I know for sure that it took way longer than the 120 seconds he claims to shut off the alarm.
I bought a security system from AlarmTek in Saskatoon back in 2013 for my home in Dalmeny Sk
I bought a security system from AlarmTek in Saskatoon back in 2013 for my home in Dalmeny Sk. They set it up so that the monthly payments would come out of my account automatically. I sold that house in Sept 2018 and called AlarmTek to cancel the monitoring. I gave them the new owners' information, and they said I didn't owe them anything and would contact the new owners. I was busy with my move to Saskatoon and didn't realize that AlarmTek was using *** from Edmonton for the home monitoring. AlarmTek shared my bank account details with *** and they kept billing me every month for over a year. I didn't notice it until *** was sold to *** and I started seeing monthly debits from my account to ***. That's when I went to my bank to ask about it. We stopped the payments, and I started making calls. AlarmTek told me to call ***, then they said to call ***. So, I ended up talking to people from all three companies, but no one has canceled the plan, and they keep debiting my account even after over 2 months of calls.
I signed up for AlarmTek in the summer of 2020 after a break-in occurred in our area
I signed up for AlarmTek in the summer of 2020 after a break-in occurred in our area. I set up three cameras, fire and flood sensors, motion sensors, and door alarms. Everything worked really well at first and it was definitely a good investment. However, in January, things started to go wrong. One of the cameras stopped working completely and our mobile app would often crash. The cameras would also go offline for long periods of time. There was an incident where the motion sensor fell off the wall and the RCMP was dispatched, but they couldn't find our property because the directions on our file were incorrect. It took me about 8 months of trying to get in touch with someone to fix these issues. Whenever I would reach out for support, someone would start helping me and then suddenly stop. One time, a technician even texted me at 12:30 at night and then disappeared. It wasn't until the head of the marketing department got involved that I finally had a technician come out to address the problems. It was like a "last chance" situation, and luckily this person was willing to help and didn't disappear on me. Things seemed to be going well again after that, although I had to move one of the cameras to a less ideal spot because it kept giving me unnecessary alerts for things like rain falling. I set the sensitivity to the lowest level possible. However, on a recent 5-day trip, we discovered that our system was offline the entire time. Our water heater broke and the flood sensor in the basement didn't trigger. I was told that the manager would call me back by the end of last week, but I haven't heard anything. I'm stuck in a contract with AlarmTek for another 4 years and I have an unreliable system with very little support.
I decided I needed home security, so I went through **** because I have an account
I decided I needed home security, so I went through *** because I have an account. The website led me to Alarmtek back in July. I asked for a quote, and it stated X amount each month for 60 months. Okay, sure... for 50 dollars a month, I got a garage door sensor, window sensor, front door cam, app, and a panel. *** called and made a way better offer: garage sensor/camera, front door camera, panel, app, thermostat, all the goodies for 30 dollars! Never in a million years did I think that canceling their services in December would put me in a spot where I couldn't make a payment! When I called to send back their equipment, they told me I had to pay 2000$$ for the equipment, and now it was mine to keep? They say that I signed a contract stating I understood this. I see the contract, but I also see my emails with the tech where I got the quote, and never once is it mentioned that I have to keep my services with them for 60 months. I understand *** you pay for canceling, maybe 200 dollars, but 2000 dollars?!?!?! For what? For equipment? I also read in the "Contract" that it states that the equipment is considered on lease unless Alarmtek releases the equipment...
I've been asking Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated for an outage report for my services for the past few months
I've been asking Alarmtek Security Systems of Canada Incorporated for an outage report for my services for the past few months. Lately, there has been a rise in criminal activity in SK, which has led to emergency alerts for shelter-in-place. When I was away from home and had my alarm system activated, I wanted to check my security cameras before returning home for peace of mind. But once again, I found that my cameras were down. I've talked to AlarmTek about this issue many times over the years. My system keeps experiencing multiple outages every week, leaving the camera systems offline for hours or even days. Not only have we had problems with our flood sensor, but we've also had issues with police dispatch. I've had so many problems that I now have a direct line of contact with one of their support agents, *** I've emailed him 3-4 times asking for the report he promised to obtain and for the callbacks he said he would make. But I haven't received any of these. Why won't AlarmTek give me the outage report I requested? Now, I want to expand my request to cover the last 6 months because I believe the numbers will reveal a shocking amount of downtime for a system that costs me over $75/month and doesn't work properly. I've followed all their recommendations, even reducing the coverage area outside. I've even hardwired my work computer to ensure uninterrupted access for the cameras to use the available wifi. But once again, AlarmTek and their support team have gone silent, and I'm still paying for a service that's not working. Besides ***, I can't think of any other service that would get paid for such terrible service. Diamond Warranty is a joke, the service they provide is a joke, and customer support is practically non-existent at this point, AGAIN.
I bought the Alarmtek Security system on Aug 26, 2020 for our place
I bought the Alarmtek Security system on Aug 26, 2020 for our place. Since then, we've had all sorts of problems. The cameras don't monitor properly, the security warning system doesn't work, and it doesn't even alarm us when someone enters the building while the system is armed. When we called their after-hours number, it took them forever to get back to us. Sometimes it would be days, and in a few cases, even a whole week. I kept texting and emailing the owner, but it wasn't until much later that he would have someone from support call us and guide us through fixing the system. We got this system because we're not always there, and we need something reliable.
I also purchased a thermostat control from Alarmtek and had it installed. About a month ago, my sister and I were in the building with the system armed, but it didn't go off even though we were walking around for at least 10 minutes. I finally managed to contact the owner and told him that if they didn't fix the system, I would have to stop making payments. He quickly got someone from support to call me.
A couple of weeks ago, I went to check on the thermostat control and found out that it wasn't working. I texted the owner and he had his support guy call me. After a long time on the phone, we realized that the thermostat control didn't work at all and needed to be replaced. It was freezing outside, so I had to scramble to find heaters to prevent the house from freezing. I even had friends bring new batteries for the thermostat, but it still didn't respond. The support person gave me his number and asked me to call him back with an update on the new batteries. We called, but there was no answer. That's when I decided to stop making payments and now I'm waiting for Alarmtek to either remove the system or fix the situation. But I can't get any response from them. If they don't do something soon, I'll just return all the equipment.
Alarmtek is not able to provide the service they promised and they won't contact me to fix the problem
Alarmtek is not able to provide the service they promised and they won't contact me to fix the problem. They installed an alarm system in my house on May 12, but it's been less than a month and I've already had issues three times. The worst part is that these issues started on a weekend when there's no support available. I tried to fix it myself, but it's hard because I don't have much access to my account. The company representatives promised to call me back, but they often don't. On May 30, I noticed that the sensors failed for the third time. They had failed twice before but started working again after a few hours. On Friday, the sensors failed again and didn't start working by Saturday morning when I tried to contact technical support. I realized I was on my own. I reached out to Alarmtek for support, but since there was no support available, I asked to cancel the contract because they couldn't provide the service. On May 31, I reset the system by unplugging the power and letting the battery run down. When it came back up, the alarm was working fine. On June 1, I received a call back from Alarmtek, and they passed the issue to a tech support representative who called later that day. By that point, the alarm was working fine, and he couldn't find any faults or give a reason for the sensor failures. On June 2, I received a call from a manager offering to replace the sensors and give me a $150 credit for more equipment, but I refused because it didn't address the actual issue. I chose to proceed with the cancellation. He said he would send me an email with the steps I needed to take, but I never received the email or heard from him again. He mentioned that the solution was to install encrypted sensors, but the sensors I have are already encrypted. He also mentioned that tech support works on an "on call" basis on weekends, but I spoke to tech support the day before, and they confirmed they don't work on weekends. On June 4, I sent a cancellation notice via registered mail as stated in the contract, hoping for some progress. Alarmtek's Calgary office received the notice on June 5, but I haven't heard anything from the company about it. Finally, on June 9, I received a callback from someone who said that not having a working alarm for the weekend wasn't a valid reason to cancel, but they would discuss it and call me back in 48 hours. I never heard back from them. On June 11, I called the Calgary offices again, and the call was redirected to someone in Saskatchewan. I expressed my concerns and mentioned that I sent a letter last week, hoping for some progress. They said they would bring it up with the owner and promised that someone would get back to me, but once again, I was ignored. On June 15, G still hasn't called me back, even though they promised to do so.
