patient care
I went to the York University location due to a post travel bug. I was treated with antibiotics and was required to provide a stool sample- which i did onsite immediately. After my week of antibiotics I was not better at all. I called back to find out about the stool sample as clearly this would indicate wether the course of treatment was relevant to my ailment or not. After 10 days no one had heard anything about this stool sample. I had called numerous times following up in order to get any care at all since i was using the washroom upwards 2-3 times an hour with debilitating nausea. I called the only number listed for appletree in ontario and they had no idea what was happening on my file- they didn't know there had been a stool sample at all.
1. where is it and who loses that sort of thing?
2. how is there no result 10 days later?
3. how come i cannot get a followup?
further- i was told to keep calling and following up about the sample. Not one person (4 different people in the call centre) had any idea what is happening- only 1 offered to call and check. the others were not even able to provide for me a number for the location i visited.
The fact that i was told to call and THEN told to physically visit the location - i am currently living in adult diapers- i cannot leave my home without assistance right now and it is absolutely obscene that a stool sample has been lost, or at least not documented in order to provide for me relevant care since clearly the antibiotics didnt work. I am sick- i should be able to rely on the doctor to help me- meaning tests are followed up with and administrators know where they are. All i want is for them to follow up on the test they made me do onsite - in a public university bathroom while i was deliriously dehydrated due to my intense stomach bug. 2 weeks later, I am not better and have been just given the same prescription and we don't even know if it is treating the right thing, we don't even know if i have a parasite. i have lost 5 pounds in 12 days this is dangerous and negligent medical care and i am appalled at it.
solutions:
1. follow up on tests
2. some infrastructure to track such things
3. phone numbers for clinics so that patients can reach locations to inquire. sick people need things to be accessible.
echo-cardiogram results lost
30 days ago I had the test done (June 11th. 2019) and had to cancel an important appointment with Dr. Juan Salcedo because I know he needs the results and they are still not back. I have been his patient since about 1997 and he has taken extremely good care of me. I give him at least ***** (5 stars)
I made another appointment for July 22nd. and now I check to see if the results are in and was horrified to learn there is no sign of them. This is July 11th.
This is very unprofessional.
I went to see my family doctor who is not affiliated with Appletree as I no longer trust Appletree and he said that he gets results for the ECG test 7-10 days later.
It does not seem that Appletree Medical Clinic can help with this problem and certainly does not care.
Their 'walk in' system sees patients waiting outside and then, when they finally open the doors, half an hour before the doctor is due to arrive, all the younger patients rush in and the older ones, some of whom have been waiting for a longer time, get pushed out of the way. The doctor only took 10 patients. I was number 9 the last time that I saw that doctor and yet I was third in line when I first arrived. DISGUSTING!
medical
My ultrasound results were received by Apple tree back office within a week and they were not entered on my patient profile. When I went to the clinic in 2 week I was told the back office made and error. The same issue happened again on my March 29 ultrasound which was received by the clinic on April 1st. On May 4 th I went to inquire again as I had seen no...

I booked an appointment at appletree centennial college progress campus on Apr 6, 19..I almost waited for 40 minutes and they attended everybody else. when asked, she told she wasn't aware that I was there. After I went inside, I told her about that I have some rashes on my face coming and disappearing on my face.Even I showed her pictures of my face from the past days. But unluckily it was not that prominent then but was still visible. SHE refused that she cannot see rash on my face whereas everybody else noticed and hence could not make me meet doctor. She told I can only see doctor if I was paying for the visit. She further told me to come when the rash is there. It was not at all professional behaviour. I believed I have some food allergy, so the rash only stays for sometime, how can I book an appointment in such short time.
having to remove shoes during dry weather
I went to the Appletree Clinic at 2116 Montreal Road in Ottawa. I registered at the kiosk and took a seat. I watched as each patient was told to remove their shoes before going to the examining room. The shoes were clean, the roads are dry, the snow is long gone; why remove our shoes. The staff is walking around wearing their shoes and the delivery man from LifeLab just walked in and out with his shoes on. I went to the counter and told the staff to cancel my appointment. I'm diabetic and my doctor tells me to wear footwear all the time. When I visit the clinic in the winter, I remove my boots and wear my shoes, the same shoes I was wearing today. I just do not get it. Their mind must be fogged up.
referral/lack of
I came here just after christmas to get a prescription refilled for add medication i've been taking for years and years. My family doctor was out of the country due to a family emergency and I couldn't get an appointment with any other doctors at her practice that suited my schedule. So I decided to try the walk-in clinic close to my house. I brought with me printout from my pharmacy showing a long long history of taking this medication. But when the doctor heard what it was he refused to even look at my printout. He was very rude and arrogant. He said he'd make an "urgent" request for a psychiatric evaluation and that I should hear from them in a few weeks. So he left me without medication that I have been taking for years to just suddenly having none. But what could I do? So left, with worry and despair of what was to come from quitting this medication so abruptly, and hopes that I would have my evaluation soon. Months have passed and I heard nothing. So I finally decided I better call camh and find out when my appointment will be. Camh informed me they sent a letter to appletree medical on january 4th telling them they don't offer these types of services and if need to be referred elsewhere. But appletree never called me. So I called and asked for the number of the place they referred me to. At first the lady in the phone said they received the letter from camh and have referred me elsewhere. So I asked for the name and phone number of the doctor they referred me to. She tried to tell me that the information wasn't in my chart. So I pressed on and finally got the truth. They had received the letter from camh but had not referred me elsewhere! So if I hadn't called I would still be waiting for a call from camh with my appointment details for an appointment that was never going to happen. This is completely negligent in their part. And I have waited and wasted so much time struggling to try to function without necessary medication, trusting that my appointment would be soon. I will be filing a complaint with the college of physicians and surgeons as well as the better business bureau.
excessive wait time and don’t accept guard me insurance
I visited this clinic for the second time and I had waited more than 40 minutes to see doctor and doctors told to pay before he is going to checkup, I am international student and have guard me insurance and but he denied to accept it. When I came before on my visit I didn't have to pay but this time I don't like the way I was treated. Very poor experience
prescription renewal
Hello,
I visited the clinic at 941 Progress Ave in Scarborough at Centennial College. I just wanted a prescription renewal. I even brought in the actual medication bottle to show the nurse who was seeing me. She wrote me a different prescription. I had asked for Taro-Clobetasol topical solution and she wrote something for Clobetasol ointment. They work similarly but it is not what I usually use.
I'm extremely annoyed for the fact that I waited 1.5 hours to see her. And even provided the physical bottle to show her so there were no mistakes made. The pharmacy I got it from said they cannot do a refund because they already made the ointment for me. I called the clinic and the same nurse told me that I need to file a complaint here. This is really poor service for a clinic. This is an actual prescription I use on my body and for your nurse to be that incompetent and write me something else is rather irritating. Not to mention, the prescription I ended up getting cost double the amount as my regular one I use. I have been using the prior one for 2 years now and I mentioned to her that it works well with me and I have never had any side effects from it. My family doctor is on vacation for 2 months or I would have never even visited your clinic. After this, it's not happening again.
How does she end up writing me the wrong prescription. This is a real issue and I am not okay with it. I would like my refund for what I paid for because this is not something I will be using. Now I have to go visit a different clinic so they can get my prescription right.
negligent medical advice
Have gone to this clinic out of necessity as I live in Quebec and have no doctor. I pay out of pocket each time so I at least expect to get passable advice. Went in recently to review bloodwork results and to flag (again) that my bloodpressure is too high. Test results indicated a problem with my thyroid medication and yes bloodpressure being high. Doctor opted to do nothing. 3 days later I ended up at hospital emerg with heart palpitations and too high bloodpressure. Doctors were appalled at the advice I had been given by the clinic. Do not bother using these clinics for anything other than simple issues. They are completely incompetent at interpreting and giving sound medical treatment.
referrals and document management
Clinic has awesome wait times, the doctor seems great. Unfortunately every time I need a referral it never gets done the first time and have to go back to my doctor's office again to get a new referral. I was applying for ODSP and they say they sent the forms out, but ODSP never received them. The same thing happened with cppd. I had to go back to the doctors redo all paper work and still I had to go a third time and take it personally to Service Canada. Anything you need to get sent in or out of this office is not received or sent. And I've been asking since joining this office to get my daughter and I a blood work requisition they still have not given us the form for that. Finally, they constantly ask who's the family doctor, yet it's the same doctor I see every time I go there and tell them "You are my family doctor"? And I go to them at least twice a month! Ridiculous! Someone needs to do something or I'm switching doctors offices.
medical appointment
Walked in to the clinic because it's close to my house. They told us there was only 1 person ahead of us. We waited for an hour. No one was being called in. When I asked, I found out that the doctor had only just arrived. He was 45 minutes late. Many bad experiences with this clinic. This is only one of them. Try having your doctors show up on time. If things are running so far behind, tell your patients so they can decide whether to stay or go somewhere else.
call center
It seems that every time I call the 647-722-2370 number they have no idea what is going on. Most recently I received a call may 6th and a voice mail was left to call back. I called back may 7th and it took two tries to get someone on the phone, then that person gave me the wrong information! Other issues have been getting referrals to specialists in my area, i'm always being sent to downtown toronto instead of scarborough and it takes 3 or 4 additional calls to get them to locate a dr.in my area. I am constantly being given the incorrect information and then have to fight to get the correct info. Even the doctors, and yes that's plural, I have seen who work in one of the medical clinics that deal with this call center have lamented to me about the constant issues with them. Please do something and get more competent people in there!
medical file transfer
My family doctor sent a request to have my son's file transferred over. After 3 weeks I called the Appletree Medical Group and the call goes to their call centre as they don't have a local number for each location. The call centre agent was very unprofessional and didn't speak clearly. They said they have not received any request and that I need to go to the office and first pay $45 for file transfer request. The agent did not even have the business hours for that location so I had to take chance and go there after work. The receptionist at the office said it will take 30-60 days to send the records to my family doctor and that I need to first pay $45. 30-60 days! are you serious... we are talking about medical records here. Which govt agency is monitoring these companies to operate? They only gave me the receipt for the payment and said it will take 30-60 days. When I asked which number can I call to obtain the status, she asked me to call the same call centre! Very frustrating!
patient service / booking department completely unprofessional!
Appletree Medical Group is the most unprofessional group of people I have ever dealt with... and these people have access to my medical records! I have never been so angry at "patient service" department as I am with them.
I requested an appt with my doctor, the guy at the booking number told me to book it for Sunday ... now my doc only works out of Brampton, so it takes me 45 mins to get there. I stressed this to the guy, asking several times if he was sure she would be there on a Sunday (I highly doubted this), but he swore up and down that she would be. I said fine... want to guess what happened on Sunday when I got there? She wasn't SCHEDULED TO BE THERE AT ALL! So I wrote a complaint to the generic ([protected]@) email address the person at the desk gave me.
Today I called to verify the doctors attendance for Thursday (my re-booked appt) and I recognized the guys voice... I simply asked him his name, not in a mean or angry way at all, and he realized who I was, and somehow bloody knew about the email complaint I sent, and HUNG UP ON ME! I promptly called back, and the gentleman who I spoke with after was very hesitant to give me the guys name.
They don't have a head office or even a complaint department.
Suggestions on what I should do would be most welcome!
Appletree Medical clinic has put me in tears many times. Even though my "family doctor" works in their clinic, I am treated like a walk in and have to wait over 2 hours for things as simple as a referral. now that I've been diagnosed with lupus, I am switching to a more professional doctor/doctors office. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CAN AVOID IT. They only care about generating profit, not helping people.
plantars wart treatment
I brought my 11 year old daughter in for Plantar wart treatment. The foot specialist was running late and made us wait 25 minutes. When he came into the room, he was extremely fast and in a rush. He badly burned my daughters feet as no more than 2 hours later had 2 burn blisters about 1 centimeter in diameter. She couldn't sleep due to the pain and in the morning the blisters were 3 centimeters in diameter. She walked on her toes all day at school and we'll be keeping her home on Friday.
Registration is ridiculous. Staffing is showing up late for patients that have scheduled appointments.
There is no order or organization at the 2948 baseline office.
Got there at 10:30am and wasn't out til 1pm
Never waited that long for a doctor, boys got hungry and had to buy them a snack
I could have done emergency if I wanted to wait that long
Not to mention I am rushing to meet a client now, because I work
Good time now to start her on ballet lessons. She'll be "up on her toes" for a week or more. Do you have any idea what a plantar wart is? You probably don't.
And its not "Plantar" its "plantar" referring to the bottom of the foot; not a proper noun, and has nothing to do with Mr Peanut.
How's that government health care workin for ya, eh?
