I fully agree that this "company" is a joke. They called my house 3 tmes in succession within 30 minutes. I informed them that I am well versed in the FDCPA ( Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and that what they are doing is in direct violation. And the guy just kept on taking. I then informed him that I was recording the telephone coversation ( in Texas it is not required that you inform anyone that you are recording the conversation when the call is made to a residence from a business.) Anyhow, I requested that they validate the debt with a statement or the final bill from their client. Needless to say that got me any further. So, I notified them in writing via fax and U.S. Postal that tey are to cease and desist from any further telephonic communication at any telephone number in my name. After being passed around from one fake American Name to another I finally told them they needed to read the FDCPA and learn how to use it.

I understand that these are highly educated people i very menial positions working for some blood sucking sump pump somewhere taking advantage of their family situation or whatever, but that gives them absolutely no right to think, believe that they can intimidate people into paying them any money.

We also found out that you can contact the company that they claim you have an account with. If that company still has record of the account, you can take care of the account with that company. What this does is cuts the collection agent out of the funds and you have this removed from your credit record and your account paid in full.

I actually have found it to be somewhat exhilerating exercise jousting with these agencies at times. It is really fun when you have the codes sitting right there in front of you and they can't dispute that you have busted them breaking the law.

I just received a phone call saying I owed 200 and some odd dollars for an emergency room visit 2 over 2 years ago. I know that is not possible bc I lived 10 hours away from the hospital they said that I owed! The lady wanted my SS # on the phone and I immediately knew this was very fishy. I took down her info and I'm getting this figured out tomorrow!

Bay Area has contacted me and I'm actually reasonably sure that the account is valid, but I can't get written confirmation of the account from them. They've called me multiple times and have told me that they have mailed something and it should be at my house in a (few) days. One of the representatives (Mr. Jackson) and his supervisor (also Mr. Jackson) have offered to send emails, which is fine, and have told me to expect the emails in 6 - 8 days. A process that should take minutes. No emails have arrived. After the email promise, a supervisor named Norman told me that they did not send emails, but when I talked with him again the next week he said that they had sent me emails. They keep asking what else I need to settle the debt, and keep telling them written verification of the debt and they keep telling me they sent it. So I filed a complaint with the USPS stating simply that Bay Area in Atlanta was claiming that it was sending me first class mail and I wasn't receiving it. (The postal service customer service rep was very helpful and also doubtful that they were sending it at all.) USPS gave me a tracking number for the account and I gave it to Bay Area and instructed them to contact the USPS if the "delivery failure" continues so that the letters can be tracked on both ends. I have also suggested to Bay Area that they send the letters registered mail, postage-due, which will not cost them a penny. But I've gotten a lot of excuses about why they can't do it.

They are also billing me supposedly for an unpaid AT&T Mobility bill. I have paid every bill I've ever gotten from AT&T in full and on time. Bay Area Credit service is definitely a scam of some kind. They just contact people and ask for money. If you try to ask for details about why you were never billed by the original company you supposedly owe money, they claim they can't answer that because they are just the 'collections agent' and know nothing except that you now owe them money.

Anyone know what legal organization to report them to ? Better Business Bureau?

I received a call from this company this morning at 8:49 AM. They stated that I am in collections with my AT&T account dating back to February, , which, by the way, was paid yesterday and did not note any past due amount. One would think I would have been turned off by now if I had not paid for the bill in February. I researched the company after the call and will take action against them for attempted theft.

Please don't listen to people telling you to pay, they are just the people who have been scammed and don't want to admit it, or they work for this fraudulent company. As the DA of Indianapolis I can assure you that we are currently investigating this problem however these companies are located outside of United States jurisdiction, which is unfortunately why these companies continue to get away with this.

I just noticed that their business hours and phone number are different than those given by the company. I think BACS is valid and legal but they themselves may have been scammed. Someone not affiliated with them is calling I think. The number they use is different and the business hours are insane not to mention being called on a day when they are closed.

Keep getting voip callers from a company "bay area collections" saying that old medical bill isn't paid. That if it isn't resolved immediately they will report you and say you are not willing to resolve the bill. After being extremely rude to me and saying i was being rude. I informed the (Obviously not using his correct name) guy i was talking to that i would call the provider to find out why the bill isn't paid. He replied that if i didn't provide financial information that he would write that i was not willing to pay the bill. I again told him. On your recording make sure you get this. I am calling the provider to find out the status of this bill, not that i'm not willing to resolve it. Have a nice day. Then i hung up. I call the provider. Guess what. . The bills were paid over a month ago! I asked them to send me a statement of "zero" balance in the mail and a copy of the bill that was paid. This is a good idea. I then called the company back to inform them that there is no bill owed. I gave the name of the person and the number they are calling. . He laughed and placed me on hold. After being placed on hold for 30 mins. I hung up and recalled the number and gave them the same info. Before he could place me on hold (Which i allowed before) then provided the original company's billing person name and number that could verify there was no bill owed. He told me i was rude and he wasn't calling anyone, to pay my bill. He wanted financial information. . . Not me!M lesson to all. . . Do not provide any financial information to anyone over the phone, my bill was paid. . This is obviously someone trying to steal information from you and commit fraud. Be careful! I do realize collectors have a job to do, however make sure it's a legitimate collector and you actually owe a bill. Make arrangements with the original provider or get a number directly from them. Do not give any information to some rude person calling trying to bully you into financial information! It may cost you more than a terrible day!

Nahhh they can't possibly be scammers especially when I try to access their website through DIFFERENT Internet Providers for each provider service to only warn me with a BIG security pop up window with the word WARNING! Plastered on it saying... THIS SITE IS ATTACKERS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS CREDIT CARDS NUMBERS AND PASSWORDS... Nah... See now, that tells ALL OF US that is a legit and reputable company! All the people with complaints AND the Internet Providers Security Warning Notifications are ALL LIARS and against Bay Area!

Muzzle it scammers trolls... if people are posting their experiences with you here then that means we aren't stupid and we are on to your shenanigans. Which means your reply comments mean nothing and only validate that you work or own the company and that you are a scamming jerk!

I just had a run in with them this morning. I had an issue with my previous AT&T bill, they had charged me for equipment that I returned. I finally spoke with AT&T directly and they were able to locate my tracking number for the equipment that I returned and told me that the credit would be put on my account within 7-10 business days and to ignore the calls from Bay Area. Well, they call me EVERY day when I'm at work and I obviously cannot answer. I finally had enough today and took the call. After I explained to them that I would like an updated bill with the equipment charge taken off she refused to send me the paperwork. So, her A-hole boss gets on the phone who has also called me before and he was refusing to send me the paperwork. He said and I quote "thats not going to happen over night". So I told him, well I'm not paying you a dime until I see my updated bill. Apparently my debt is still with AT&T, so I am going to pay it directly with them. I had to cancel my service because of a financial hardship and LOVED my service with AT&T, however, the debt collector that they have chosen to represent their company has left a bad taste in my mouth. It is absolutely terrible to harass someone the way that they have. Its only been a couple of months since I canceled my service. Bay Area is rude, disrespectful, and does not comply with any request you ask of them. We should be entitled to see a FINAL bill before paying anything to them. I have never in my life dealt with such a rude company. I'm surprised that they are successful at all collecting anything from anyone. Ridiculous!

I too, been receiving calls I finally answered today it was a male representative who stated he was as calling on behalf of Bay Area Credit Service. I asked him who he was; he said his name so quickly & repeated to say calling on behalf of BACS regarding an important matter for and stated my name. I at this point acknowledge myself asking him who he was again. He than reverts to what sounds like a heavy Middle Eastern/Indian accent, when he would say his name. Otherwise when addressing me he accent seemed to quickly fade more and more. I asked his name again, He repeated his name again so quickly with this sudden on take of this strong accent while than turning a little testy raising his voice a bit saying As I said (mind you losing the accent so much so he nearly sounded American) I'm calling on behalf of BACS. I was so frustrated I still could not understand his name. This is pretty bad as I am an IT CSC Help Desk Analyst and speak to people all over the country Mon-Fri, eight + hours a day. I take great pride in providing our Clients with great Customer Support while handling my calls. I've learned to have great patience in communicating with others and being able understand whomever I am speaking too; So long as we are both speaking English regardless how choppy it is I pride myself in first close resolutions and great customer service! So this was my first red flag. So he than proceeds to ask me to very my address and goes rambling off with an address and asked if it were mine. My response to him was I'm sorry who are you calling on behalf of he began to repeat BACS I stopped him and said; "NO, You said you were with BACS a credit company calling me in regards to an important matter. I take that to mean you are calling in regards to attempt to collect a possible debt. You are debt collector. I have acknowledged who I am and verified that you've reached who you asked for. Now if this is regarding a debt that is due and you are the collection agency attempting to collect that debt. My question to you is; Who is the third party you are calling on behalf of? I don't know who BACS is and will not provide any further information until I know who your attempting to collect a debt for!" He responded. So your not going to verify and again repeated the address; I than got a bit testy myself and raised my voice a little and was very stern with my words. I told you I verified who I am, if you can't tell me who the Creditor is claiming to be owed I can't verify anything and better yet lose my number, put me on on your DNC list and remove me from your database and don't call me again! I ended the call and that was that; but I need to and will followup and check my credit just to be certain after reading some of these stories. The # they are calling me from is [protected] and reads as a # listed in the United States.

I appriciate you have a good knowledge of FDCPA, but if you will pay your bills on time you will never get such calls, I understand it happens sometime where we really strugle for money but in that situation you must contact the real creditor and should inform them about you hardship time and I am sure they never send your name to collection agencies.

If you still dont understand then let me give you an example

Assume you are in hotel and you had havily dinner and when bill arrived you dont have sufficient funds to pay it. You promised to owner that you will pay him as soon as you have money and then you never returned to that place. So there is no other option for that owner to hire some third party to recover that debt.

Most of the times your bills lands to collections because creditor might wont have your current information, like might he dont have your phone number, address or other stuffs

If you really respect your law or you really a honest man call that creditor and share your problem with them and I am sure they will help you

Always make sure that you call them before it go to collections.

Escapers will always complaint about collections activities
