Banking Accounts and Service
During Covid 19 as flights had been said to be cancelled I flew home to the UK, The BBVA blocked my account without warning and then for 6 months I have called and tweeted them trying to resolve this issue and nothing,
No assistance, kept hanging up after 56 mins on hold,
No attempt to help

Froze my account
November 27th, 2020 I received email saying i've been opted out of mobile and online banking. I called customer service and was given number to call bbva and was told they will be closing my account and account will be frozen until disputes are finalized. I don't have access to any funds and I was able to use my account without any issues. I always used the...

My experience with BBVA over the last few months has been a nightmare. I could never, ever recommend this bank to anyone! I made an honest mistake regarding a balance transfer and what should have been a simple resolution ended up taking almost six months to resolve. Cynthia, the "Client Experience Manager" in Grapevine TX, was assigned to my ticket after...

Steven Dye I can tell you that they are the worst home loan provider I have encountered in my 20 years as a real estate broker in Texas. Total lack of communication, responsiveness or delivering on what they promised. Good as gold buyer but an awful lending team.
We were supposed to close on July 31, 2020. Then August 10, 2020. Now August 13, 2020 and still no clear to close. They are a total embarrassment to the industry.

Overdraft protection and the bank posting misleading bank balances to incur overdraft fees
I opened a checking account with BBVA last year. Right away I began noticing how their online account information is super misleading which has caused me to incur hundreds of dollars in NSF charges. My biggest complaint is when I've made purchases and view my account transactions, it will show a posted balance and an available balance. The posted balance does not reflect all the transactions made. The available balance does shows the amount minus the purchase. Sometimes those purchases are in pending status but its still reflected in your available balance. So...if you make a purchase that goes over the available amount, I get an NFS which I understand. My problem is once those pending charges go through they incur a NFS charge too. But if I make a purchase that is in pending status, and run and deposit money in the account...there's another NSF. They say that's because the money was not in the bank when the purchase was made. My argument is that it's just pending...it hasn't come out yet. Also, the BBVA that I used has signs that read "deposits made before 8:30 am or 8:30 pm will post the same day. Another lie...I've deposited my check before the posted time and used my debit card later that resulted in more NSF charges. BBVA stop misleading your poor customers that are just trying to live, with incorrect or confusing information. I'm not just posting this complaint for me...I'm posting it for all the elderly and poor people that are being ripped of by BBVA bank ...I'm done
Auto loan
Had a car loan with them. Paid it off because I was selling the vehicle. They told me it would take 10 business days to clear the transaction (it was immediate via electronic) and was out of my account that day. But still took the ten days anyway.
Then they said they would mail the title to me after that time. Two weeks later, 5 phone calls to their call center (in columbia) and still no title! Has now been over a month from the day I paid the loan off, no tracking number to find my title, no title, no way to get a replacement because they wont send me a lien letter to I can apply for a new one grrrrrrrrrrr! Of course my buyer got tired of waiting and now here I sit. I have had other auto loans with other banks, paid it off, got the title immediately, literally the same day, but not bbva, worst banking experience ever and i'm 62 years old with lots of banking interaction!
Do not do business with this company! If I could give less that a 1 I would!
This bank is the worst of them all!
Ach transfer
I tried to do 2 ach transfers totaling $337000. After 5 days the transfer still had not been made and the money was gone from my checking account.
It's been 7 days and the money still has not been returned to me. After spending over 22 hours getting the run around in customer Service and the wire department - still no refund. They promised a refund last Friday. Still nothing. It's a huge amount of money. And I have no idea if I will get my money refunded. They provided no explanation of why the money was kept.
This bank could be in financial trouble because likely they have issues keeping up their reserve ratios and they it's the end of the quarter and all the financial reporting needs to be done by June 30. If they don't have the right numbers at the end of the quarter they could be in a lot of trouble.
THIS BANK IS BAD!
Certificate of deposit
DO NOT bank with BBVA. See sequence of my experience with them -
1.) On June 13, 2019, I opened a 1-year CD at BBVA in the amount of $10k with an interest rate of 2.8%.
2.) In mid-May 2020, I sent a secure message to BBVA inquiring what steps I needed to take to have CD closed UPON MATURITY on June 13, 2020.
3.) I was told to send a notarized letter of instruction + copy of my drivers license requesting the CD be closed UPON MATURITY & the proceeds sent to my external account on record. The letter was sent certified & was received by Gina Franklin at BBVA on May 18, 2020.
4.) Instead of following my instructions, BBVA closed my CD account early on May 29, 2020, disbursed the funds to my external account & then took the funds back.
5.) When I called BBVA about this error, I was told the funds would be put back into my BBVA account & held until June 13, 2020 - the maturity date - and all interest would be calculated appropriately. I was also told that UPON MATURITY, the account would automatically be closed & the funds disbursed to my external account on record.
6.) When the money didn't show up in my external account as expected, I called on June 17, 2020. I was told BBVA "was checking on it" & I would be called back same business day with a status. Agent Eric DID NOT call back as promised.
7.) I called again on June 19, 2020 & told agent Nela I wanted my money today with additional interest from May 29, 2020. Agent provided me with a ticket number #121338 & a promise to call me back with a status by close of business, June 19, 2020. Agent Nela DID NOT call back as promised.
*JUNE 26, 2020 UPDATE*
On June 25, BBVA redeemed & deposited my 1-year CD + interest up to May 29, 2020 into my external checking account. BBVA failed to update the interest to include the time period from May 29 (when they WRONGLY closed my account) to June 25, when they finally got around to handing over MY money.
Also on June 25, I received a white envelope in USPS mail from BBVA. The envelope included the following items -
1.) A handwritten "GENERAL LEDGER DEBIT" for $151.05, marked "Interest Expense."
2.) A NON-NEGOTIABLE Cashier's Check in the amount of $151.05 made out to my name. No negotiable check was enclosed.
IN THE SAME ENVELOPE, there was -
1.) A printed "IRA BUILDER ACCOUNT DEBIT TICKET" for $33, 400.00 for a person named Denna Cleary.
2.) A NON-NEGOTIABLE Cashier's Check in the amount of $33, 400.00 made out to "SECURITY BENEFIT LIFE INSURANCE FBO DENNA CLEARY."
3.) A NEGOTIABLE Cashier's Check in the amount of $33, 400.00 made out to "SECURITY BENEFIT LIFE INSURANCE FBO DENNA CLEARY."
The banking practices of BBVA are negligent, if not criminal. I still do not have the rest of MY money. Additionally, I should not have Denna Cleary's check for $33, 400.00. I wonder what kind of lies BBVA is telling Ms. Cleary regarding the whereabouts of HER money?
Here is what I want -
1.) I want BBVA to send me a negotiable check for interest at 2.8% calculated from May 29, 2020 to June 25, 2020. BBVA wrongly closed out my CD account on May 29, 2020 & then kept MY money for 12 days past the original maturity date of June 13, 2020.
2.) I want BBVA to send Ms. Cleary or her representative a negotiable check for $33, 400.00. BBVA should not send this check to some other random customer.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and have sent a certified letter of complaint to BBVA corporate headquarters. I still have Denna Cleary's check for $33, 400.00. So far, this problem HAS NOT been resolved. Needless to say, I will not be banking with BBVA ever again nor would I recommend BBVA to anyone else.
auto loan
Back in november I got my car stolen, I called the bank 2 days letter to notify the bank, adviced by my insurance company, here we are almost 3 months later and the bank still havent send the papers my insurance asked for, the insurance company sent the bbva a letter of guaranty and asked for a copy of the title, since it was taking too long, I called bbva, I was told back in december 20th that the letter was going to be mailed on the next day... Since the ins never got it back, I called again in january, after calling many times, wait for almost an hr on the phone, leaving a number for a call back (no one ever calls back) I was able to speak to someone that told me they never received the letter from my insurance, in the mean time I keep getting collection calls, and today I found out I was reported as a delinquent account,
Ive been trying to get it resolved for months, trying to get it paid off, also... After I was able to get on a conference call between the bank and my insurance company, I was told it takes 14 days to get the docs signed and sent to the ins company... I cant not express enough how frustrated and disapointed I am, I ran out of rental and need to buy another car... I was never once late on my payment and now, all of that will screw my credit... I still havent resolved the issue, but im going to let everyone now about my issue with bbva, again, I cant express enough how mad I am, terrible customer service, I was actually told by a bank employee that they dont have enough people to resolve issues... Seriously... Terrible to say the least

all of bbva
I give bbva compass 💩💩💩💩💩 for being the worst bank that has ever existed. Customer service is rude, they hang up on you, they say that you are cursing at them when your not. just so they can say that's why they hung up on you. They post payments to the account then go and reverse the charges saying that is when the payment posted and reverse all the other payments that have already posted. Then reaply all the payments back cause you to be charge NSF after NSF. Leaving you to drown when other bills need to be paid but now cant pay them cause your in the negative. they say they post payments in real time but when it comes to deposits they will not post that in real time. WHY? so they can charge you more nsf fees. Why hasn't bbva been investigated after reading bad review after bad review. why isnt anyone looking after the small people like us who are being robbed. I have never dealt with a bank who is just self center on themselves and care about how much money they can rob from people like us. I will make sure more reviews get written and hopefully one day bbva Compass will go down for doing wrong to their customers. The only reason you are getting a star is cause I have to put one. But bbva compass you deserve 💩💩💩💩💩.
personal loan
We were told that our payoff amount would be $23, 659.00 - we sent them a check for that amount. Now they are claiming that we did not call for a payout and the amount we sent was not for the exact amount. They processed our payment as regular payment and say we owe $1, 232.48 and our next payment is due Aug. 8, 2022. When speaking to them on the phone I expected maybe a $100 or $200 and asked for an exact payoff today and was given the amount of $1, 302.24. There is something not right here and I am not getting anywhere talking to them. Can someone help?
credit card "offers" that are in fact trolls looking for personal information
BBVA sends so-called "pre-approved" credit card solicitations and when the potential customer tries to apply for the card they get a response "We are unable to offer you a card due to Fraud Indicators". The fraud is from BBVA itself as I personally have no fraud reports on my credit file and when I tried to call the bank it went to voicemail and I received no response. Written and emailed requests for more information on these "Fraud Indicators" have also received no response, which is a direct violation of the Federal Credit Reporting Act. I recently discovered that two other people I know have received the exact same solicitation from BBVA and received the same "Fraud Indicators" response. BBVA is trolling for personal information (like your SS number) so they can sell it to other scammers. Then I look at [redacted].com and other consumer protection sites and find thousands of scams being conducted by BBVA. Glad they didn't issue me a card after all!
mortgage escrow
I received my Homeowner's Insurance renewal notice 30 days before renewal date of 09/05/19 and saw that my premium had risen to a point where I knew it was time to shop for a new Insurance company. I contacted my insurance agent who told me to tell my lender, BBVA Compass, not to pay the renewal until I had a binder from a different company. I did this, and was told by BBVA Compass that I had until a week before the renewal to shop. Once I had the binder, two weeks before renewal, I had seen on my online banking screen that BBVA Compass paid the renewal immediately after I called two weeks prior. My agent is now having to jump through hoops to get the actual policy paid and refund the difference of premium back to my escrow account before my next billing cycle.
employee & customer service
The employees at the branch located off Union Blvd and Dublin in Colorado Springs, Colorado confronted one of the partners of our company this past week when she went in alone. The account was negative temporarily, and she had recently added her name to the account. The employee asked our owner if she "knew what she got herself into, " and warned her "to be...

Over a 30 min wait in the drive through line and I was the only car there. Watched through my the window and they just were standing around. They when they told me there were people in front of me. I could clearly see there was only one person at the counter. It doesn't take three employees to handle one customer. I should have been attended to in a timely and courteously. When I told them it was over 30 min and if they didn't improve their customer service they got belligerent. I asked for his name and he refused to give it. I informed him I had been with the bank for over 15 years and I was prepared to move my account he said go ahead. We don't need your business. I filed a complaint over the phone nothing has come of it. I will be changing banks.

bbva poor customer service and lack of professionalism
My wife's card cracked and she requested a new one while at a branch bank on 19 Jun. She was told it would take 3-5 business days to receive. As of 15 Jul, she has still not received it. I called the customer service number 1-844-228-2872, Tuesday, 9 Jul, and was told delivery was pending.
I called again 15 Jul after still not receiving the new card and after 30 minutes on the phone with two different Customer Service reps, was told it had been sent 19 Jun, but returned by the mail "people." I verified our address and requested it be sent again, but they informed me they had to speak to my wife. I was also told that since it had been so long, we could request delivery be expedited and they would waive the fee.
I contacted my wife, who called them only to find out in spite of giving them our address back in June, they had sent it to her old address (hasn't lived there for over 2.5 years), thus, it was returned. They also refused to waive any fees if we wanted it expedited in spite of their screw up. So, we have to wait another two weeks or so before receiving her new card.
I have been with Compass since 2003, before the BBVA got added, but due to their lack of decent customer service and and professionalism, I will be changing financial institutions after I check out all the others near my residence.
