brake scam
i have been a big o tire customer for years and i finally realized what a scam the whole thing is. not only have i over paid for tires (thats why i buy only used now), but every time i make a point of coming in to check my brakes before the year is up i am given one excuse after another as to why they will not give me free brake pads, which is what it states in the contract. i travel a steep canyon road 5 days a week to sedona and my brake pads last exactly 1 year before they need to be changed. instead i was told i need additional parts that were going to cost me over 300 dollars and the owner came outside in an unpleasant way and made sure they were not going to cover the brakes. then they told me the vibration i was feeling was the old shocks and when they took the tire off they said it was someting else. when i took it to my regular mechanic he told me it was none of the things they stated. i know at least 25 people that are customers of big o tire and i feel it is my duty to share my experience with them. as for new tires, they have much cheaper ones at sams club and their labor is less and i can get my brakes done elsewhere. i will never go to big o again and thats coming from a customer of 10 years!
bad sevice
went to Big O tires for a tire rotation and to check the tire pressures. As i have taken out a lifetime warrentee on the tires i bought there. When i got the car back the pressure was low and my brake light was on they didnt even check the disk brakes when the tire was already off and the disk brakes was right in front of them that is very bad busness. I went in to Big O Tires in Tempe last Thursday July 15th to get an oil change before I went out of town to San Diego for the weekend with my kids. I have a 2008 Saturn Outlook with 59, 000 miles. I got the oil change annd everything seemed good. I got in my car and started driving down the road and noticed that my temp guage was rising a bit and looked like the vehicle was running a little warm. I continued down the road and it stayed like that, so I called Big O and they said to bring it back. When I got there, they had to let it cool and then diagnose the problem. I didn't have time to wait so I got picked up and waited for their call. They called and said I needed a new radiator($750.00) and since they had the thing torn apart, they said I should also replace the thermostat($750.00, $1, 500.00 total)! This did not seem right with lower milage and I'm a price shopper, so I called a few friends for a referral and they sent me to Paul's Car Care in Chandler off of Arizona Avenue between Ray and Warner. They told me the radiator cap was loose and could have not been put on tightly from the oil change or it was malfunctioning. Either way, it was $73.00 and I was out the door! Shame on those guys at Big O who had 2-3 flunkies working on my car and couldn't analyze the problem, except for replacing the whole DAMN cooling system! Obviously it would run fine after that! I usually find the oil change coupons and go to the cheapest place for an oil change, but never again with these clowns. I little rule to live by with mechanics is find a little mom and pop shop where the owner is the head mechanic and you should be ok.
they tried to rip me off for $1,500.00

We think we were overcharged for a synthetic oil change. So about a month ago we called and got no help. So we wrote a letter to the corporate office on May 19, 2010 and expressed our thoughts that we thought we were overcharged by $25 to $40 and had never paid so much for that service before. To date, we have heard nothing from them. We think they have a...

I bot a 50k tire at the local Big O, which has become defective due to the tread separating from its casing.
I took it to the dealer, who only wanted to sell me a higher $ tire.
the dealer also refused to change the dud with my spare, also wanting to charge me a fee...even after selling me the defective tire.
NEVER BUY TIRES AT BIG O.

Very bad experience
I recently had a very bad experience at this store. I have been a loyal Big O customer for years, and have gone to this particular location many times. This last time, however, when I went in to have a flat tire replaced (they have a great warranty, and replaced the tire for free), they "found" another problem with my car: apparently the CV boots on the front left and right axles were leaking. They showed me, and sure enough, there was grease coming out. Their estimate for the repair was $440. I told them I didn't want it fixed now, and that I may be back. I then took my car to a local, independent mechanic that I trust completely with all car matters. He called back a few hours later and said that he'd never seen anything like this - the CV boots were neatly severed, with no sign of wear and tear that could possibly lead to their failure. He showed them to me - sure enough, it was like they had been sliced with a razorblade, and there was no splattered grease, no wear, absolutely no evidence of a previous problem. My mechanic replaced the CV boots for $284. I will never go to a Big O again.

A couple yrs ago (don't remember excatly when but prehaps between 07-08) I saw oil changing promotion coupon of this company and I went to a local (Seattle) location to change oil and filter. This experience was okay since after we left the car and we got a call from the staff saying the filter was "special" and they need to order it with no additional charge applied and we should change it in other days; which we did and ended happily. They put a small sticker on the car window and the next time we got another coupon and we went there, left the car, came back in a few hours and was told we should pay more than double the price we were supposed to pay because the filter was "special". I supposed they should call us first and we could totally say no to additonal charges and just take our car back and drove away? Also the interior of the car was so dirty--caused by dirty oily hands! The meter was never set after the oil was changed. I kinda doubt if they actually change the oil and the filter as well cause there's no way we could tell... Terrible business...
Not receiving the free gas I was promised
I too was promised $500.00 in free gas with the the purchase of 4 Big O Tires or Brand name tires. Send $100.00 in gas receipts along with the monthly gas voucher and receive a $25.00 gift card from the gas station you picked. I feel really lucky after reading some of the complaints. I started sending my receipts in May 2008 and have received 6 of the $25.00 gift cards. We sent our receipts by register mail but now we just receive the receipts back undeliverable. But we are still sending our receipts in every month to uphold our end. Does anyone know of a class action lawsuit against this company?

Free gas redemption
I purchased 4 tires from Big O tires in Feb. 2008 and with that purchase I was to receive $500 in gas coupons at $25 per month. I have faithfully sent in my receipts to "free gas redemption" and have contacted them numerous times without a single gas card having been sent to me. I want to know my options in pursuing this scam and would love to see them shut down. It seems I am not alone with this problem. I certainly could have purchased the tires anywhere else at the price I paid for them. Is anybody listening or concerned about this scam?

Rebate fraud
I purchased 4 tires from big o tires in miamisburg ohio in june 2008. There was a mail in rebate offer for $500.00 in gas cards with receipts sent in each month totaling $100.00. I have not received one card to date. The phone number has been disconnected that I was given by the tire company to call for answers. I am not the only one with this complaint. Can something be done about this? Do I need to get a lawyer to fight this? I just don't think people (Companies) should get away with these fraudulent scams.

Did not honor warranty
i purchased 4 new tires and a spare, an alignment new shocks and struts a tune up the works... i spent over 3000.00 dollars... and two days... only to find that 3 months later and only 10, 000 miles my tires were wore down to the wire i traveled 4 hours back to the location to get my tires replaced on there so called warranty... i had to wait 3 hours while...

I spent over $800 on tires and wheel alignment at this Big O Tires. They not only dirtied the interior and exterior of my car, but they caused damage to 3 of my wheels from their tire and alignment equipment. They reluctantly offered to pay for 25% of the cost to resurface the wheels and told me that I would be without my car for two days. They never offered to pay for a rental car for me for the two days nor were they willing to do better on their compensation to rectify the situation. Jeff and Jan's attitudes were terrible and their customer service was non existent. Do not try to save money by going to this shop. They are rude, they do lousy work and are irresponsible.

Didn't honor replacement warranty
I've been buying only Big O tires for years, but a new policy cost me $120 to replace a tire that should have been free under what I thought was their warranty.
What happened: Major blowout on the freeway, shattering 1/3 of the sidewall and splitting 1/2 the tire from the tread. Changed to spare, brought it in to Big O the next day and asked, "What can you do?" they said, "You're under warranty, free replacement" and sent me to a neighboring Big O that had the tire in stock. There, they replaced the tire, then charged me $120 saying they have a new "Run Low Tire" policy that doesn't cover any damage whatsoever.
Sounds like BS to me and a easy way for them to reneg on their so called warranty.
Store: Highland CA, Tires: Legacy Tour, Bought: Apr 06, Miles: 25,000. This was the second freeway blowout on those tires...
My recommendation is not to buy tires there - you'll pay higher prices, get tires that blow out, and be serviced by a dubious warranty.

Big o tires is trying to sweep sexual harassment under the table!
I took my truck to get new tires. 4/6/2018. I have stock dodge clad wheels. I came home to wash all the blue off my tires and 3 of my rims are damaged. I cleaned my truck yesterday so they weren't like that. It's from be mounted on something. So I have new tires and damaged wheels.
Your a fool for not reading your warranty..I have delt with big o for years and know all about that warranty.., you didnt pay attention. and like always you cant make everyone happy no matter what..Big o is the only tire shop that takes care of people and follows the rules...when in doubt read your paper workkkk( I did)

BIG O TIRES IS SHADY AND RUDE AND FAR FROM PROFESSIONAL!
I completely agree with both of you. It's like they hire ### holes for workers! Like WTF!? Does every one of their techs have to be a jerk!?
*****DO NOT USE “BIG O TIRES!” CON-ARTISTS!
Last Saturday morning, after parking at New Frontiers, I got out of my car and noticed that my back DS tire was low, and my front DS tire was going flat.
I called AAA and had my front changed to a spare. The driver told me the only tire shop open at the time was Big O Tires, on 89A.
I went straight there. The manager was pretty professional. It took them about two hours to patch both the tires, which seemed a bit much, but I was just happy to be able to drive again.
The cost for both patches was approx. $30.00.
I left Big O Tires at about noon, and drove to my office (a half mile down the road). I hit nothing. No pot holes. No curbs. No nothing. I parked and went inside and when I came out, at about 4pm, my front tire was totally flat again.
I called AAA once more, and had the front tire changed to the spare again. There were no open tire shops, so I drove my car to my home (2 miles away) and parked it there. I did not drive it anywhere else.
By midnight, the back tire was completely flat.
On Sunday, a friend/mechanic, came over to help me out. He had a look at the back tire and saw that—though it had been marked to be patched—no patch was ever put in the tire. The hole was still empty. He patched it up for me, and the tire worked perfectly.
He mentioned this kind of thing happens all the time at Big O. He has often had to fix their shoddy repair jobs.
On Monday morning, I drove the car back to Big O Tires and politely explained to the owner, a man named Phil, that I had been in on Saturday to have two tires patched, and that neither of the patch jobs “took.” He was immediately quite rude. He did not apologize, and told me I would have to wait an hour to be serviced.
I waited an hour and forty five minutes.
Phil then told me that my front tire had a tear in the wall, and that I would have to have a whole new tire put on my car. I asked him why his staff didn’t fix this when I brought it in on Saturday. His response was:
“You hit something after you left my shop.”
I then asked him—if this was true—to explain why BOTH TIRES went flat shortly after leaving here, and why the mechanic who fixed their mistake said no patch was put into the tire he fixed.
Phil’s response was, verbatim: “GET THE HELL OUT OF MY SHOP!”
I was frightened and did just that.
No explanation. No apology. No refund. All I got from Big O Tires was verbal abuse and what is inarguably the worst, most unprofessional service I have ever gotten, anywhere, from any business owner.
DO NOT USE BIG O. TIRES! YOU WILL BE SORRY!
