Bluegreen Vacations do not buy a timeshare from bluegreen!

Do not... I repeat... do NOT buy a Bluegreen timeshare under any conditions. No matter how sweet it may sound, it is a rip-off. My wife and I bought one, and we are in a continual state of regret about it. It is virtually impossible to sell (the same amount of points we bought for $10,000 are selling for about $3,000 online), plus we have yearly fees of about $700 that must be paid for us to even be able to keep using it.

Here are some of the things you may not hear while you're in a Bluegreen presentation... we didn't:

-each year you will have to pay both "maintenance fees" and "club dues," which for us amount to over $700. If you don't pay, you can't use any of your points at all until you do pay.

-many of the resorts they tell you about can only be booked in 7-day increments, which means you'll take that trip and no others for two years because you'll use up all your points on that single trip.

-we just found this one out... if you don't have the points, you can't book a trip... for example, we get 12,000 new points in July, so I called to book something in August. Well, I can't do that until I "have the points." Of course, by the time the points actually show up, all the places will be booked for the summer. We're all paid up on maintenance fees and club dues, so we will definitely get the points, but too bad... we have to wait. The person on the phone even sympathized with me and said he understood what I was saying, but too bad.

-they say they will help you rent your timeshare, but this is a joke. Your timeshare will never rent for anything near what you need to maintain the fees on it, much less pay it off.

-take a look at this web site to see what points are actually worth if you buy them on eBay: http://popular.ebay.com/ns/Real-Estate/Bluegreen.html If you really desperately want Bluegreen points, don't buy them from Bluegreen.

-they tell you that you can book things just a day or two in advance, but this is almost never possible in real life. Things are booked up months in advance.

Owning a Bluegreen timeshare is like a weight that you have to drag around with you for the rest of your life. There are many places that will rent timeshares if you like that kind of thing, and you can usually get them fairly cheap and without any obligation for the future. When I imagine paying $700 a year for the rest of my life, it feels amazingly scary. Don't do it. You're locking yourself into something that will never end when there is absolutely no need to do so.

They give you the free trip, then take advantage of how little you've researched timeshares when you're in the presentation. They tell you this price can only be offered this one time, and that you can't take another trip. It's all cheap sales techniques, and they wouldn't be necessary if it were something people really benefited from.

We even looked on the internet during our sales presentation... if only I had come across a letter like this, we probably wouldn't have bought, and we'd be much better off. At least take a few days to think about it. If they can't give you that long to think, they're tricking you anyway.

Buying a Bluegreen timeshare is a terrible decision. They, like many salespeople, will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy, knowing that they will not personally be accountable for any misrepresentations of the truth later on.

One thing they promised us is that we could rent our timeshare. Now they've done away with that aspect as well, so you either use it, keep paying about $700 in fees each year along with whatever you paid originally, or you just lose the points. Every letter we receive is something else they're taking away from us.

The most recent thing that happened was that we had tried to rent ours out for 10,000 points (most of our points) before they decided to stop letting people do that. So I called today, 10 days in advance, to check and make sure it was rented, since this is the cut-off for when I can cancel without losing points. So the guy on the phone told me that yes, it is rented. And I asked, "Well, what happens if the people cancel sometime in the next 10 days?" He said, "We don't have any control over that, sir." And I said, "I understand that, but I don't either. So what happens to my points if they cancel?" And he said, "Well, you lose those points."

So some renter I don't even know can decide to back out at the last minute, and I lose 10,000 points and don't get to travel or make any money from my timeshare for 2 years! That seems fair...

Everything Bluegreen does seems to be a way to get themselves more money and screw over their "valued customers."

And Bluegreen, if you're reading this, don't bother calling me trying to get me to revoke the complaint... we're trying to sell our timeshare as quickly as we can and hopefully never have any interaction with you for as long as we live.

How can I get rid of my timeshare? So many comapanies want the money upfront to sell. I've talked with many people who have not had a good experience. Our maintenance fees from last October did not get paid. The economy has taken a hit on us. In Feb. 2010 we were asked to come to an update in KC. The man we talked to said he would help us figure out what we could do. We had to put a $50. deposit on our credit card to reserve the dinner. They would return the money when we showed up. It snowed heavily. It was a nightmare trying to convince them we could not get through. Finally they agreed to refund the $50. He said he would call later to help us. He did'nt. We called several times. No help. Now we have a third party collection calling us for the amount plus $300. Does anyone have a clue as to what we should do? We would appreciated it if you do!

I had a timeshare with Bluegreen,
I originly ha 1 week, we bought extra, but then they converted them to points,
I could never use them
I could never exchange them
I owned my timeshare for 12 years
I got fed up with rising bills in the end
SO, I sold it, I lost a lot of money, but I gained money (I dont pay any maintainence bills each year, but I put it in a high interest account to pay for my holiday accomadtion)

I bought my timeshare when it was owned by Airtours, it was fine until Bluegtreen bought it and everything went up
So now I use hotels, its very good, I book my hotel, I pay for it, I use it, no further payments required
I weighed it up with what I got from a timeshare and what I get from a Hotel
A hotel
I get room service
I get fresh towels each day
I get my bed made up and turned down each day
My room is cleaned each day
I get a tea/coffeee maker in the room
I have a fridge
I have a minibar
I usually get a VERY good resturant on site, not just a coffee bar/snack bar
I dont get a bill every year for maintainence
I can get a hotel anywhere and any time I want

A timeshare
NO room cleaned each day
NO bed make up/turn down
NO room service
NO resturant on site
NO clean towels each day
I have to share the resort with very loud kids and drunks, there are no quiet areas
I DO get a BIG bill each year (usually the cost above the hotels I have stayed in)
I cant book when and where I want, unless it at least 6 months in advance
I do get a whole apartment (but its a waste, its just my wife and I) and I'm out by the pool each day or on a tour
I get a full kitchen, but dont need it
I will get billed if any crockery/glassses/cutlery is broken goes missing

I'm glad I sold my timeshare and have nothing to do with Bluegren any more

It doesnt matter where the resort is, you still have to get there, so I havent included the airfare in my Holidays

This year, I stayed in the Dominican Republic, all inclusive, 2 weeks, it cost me $720.00
I stayed in Sri Lanka, all inclusive, 3 weeks, that cost me $900.00, but I did get an upgrade to 'silver service' (named brands of drink, all plated food, no buffets, private pool, free massage, manicure, pedicure)
We had fresh flower sand fresh fruit in the room each day, the mini bar was topped up EVERY day (and I cleaned it out the day we left)

I had 'free' food', 'free drinks, ' free' tours, a nice beach (in both locations) plenty of service

Non of these places are in the RCI or BlueGreen books (I know they werent FREE, I paid for them, but the more I ate and the more I drank and the more tours I took, the cheaper my holidays were)

I had a great time and I am not expecting a maintainence bill this Christmas or New Year

No one will ever sell me another timeshare, but as long as they give me FREE tickets or $80 to go to a presentation I'll go along, all you people that own a timeshare are paying for me to attend, so keep buying and paying those bills each year, I want your money/tickets

Sell your timeshare, go to all the presentations you can get as much as you can from them, but NEVER, NEVER buy again (you will lose money selling your timeshare, may as well get some back by going to the presentations)

Keep moaning about your timeshare, your bills arent going to get any smaller and when you die, your kids will own it, I bet they will really thank you for that monkey on their back,

Maybe you people that own timeshare tell me what you actually get ?
I'll counter each positive with a negative,
C'mon, what do you have to lose ?

CUT YOUR Losses and get rid of it

I completely agree with the evilness that comes from Bluegreen and their lies. I am sick to my stomach at all the fees club dues which was never told to me and the constant monthly bill that just pays interest. I do not want to ruin my excellent credit rating and now I am getting a notice from bill collectors for not paying maint. fees. I feel like puking! My stomach is in knots at where the money is going to come from and I am in the process of trying to close on a home before my credit is ruined forever! My freind told me to file banckrupsy and get out from underneath this big emotional baggage of keeping this company nagging to get more money from me for never being able to take a vacation. I hope somewhere there is a lawyer reading this and helps me get out of this bad situation before a worse situation comes along. I am sick and do not know what to do...please help me!

If you find someone to buy let them know I have 26000 for sale. We have them listed with 5 different companies (very costly to us) and in 2 years have not even had a nibble! Even though they all said" Bluegreen is a very desirable company and we can propbaly sell your points within 90 days" Another BIG lie, so don't fall for that either! We tried to get help by refinancing at a lower rate with them becasue my husband has been laid off and we cannot afford the payments any longer so we tried to get a lower more managable payment but no help from the people who stated they would always be there if we needed anything! HA I asked what they suggested I do since the payments are a real burden right now, and they said just don't make your payments, in 5 months time we will start repo proceeding then take you to court and repo the timeshare, then this will stay on your record for 7 years and you will never be able to purchase with Bluegreen again (LIKE I WOULD WANT TOO!) So if anyone finds someone that would like to buy I sure would like to talk to them I will give them a heck of a deal.

Good luck everyone

I had the same experience. I was told that the points roll over from year to year. Well that was only for the first year. I was prepared to take my family to Aruba with the points that I thought I had saved up. They would do nothing about the lost points. For 6, 000 points, I only got 4 days and I had to pay for the other two days. They told me the points were worth a hundred dollars apiece. I would never spend a $1, 000 a day for a small one bedroon. They have misrepresented themselves and I am trying to sell my points as well.

Bluegreen Vacations terrible service!

My husband and I bought a timeshare from Bluegreen in Gatlinberg, Tenn. in November 05. We were going to be spending a week in Las Vegas in May of 06. We were guaranteed that we could use our time share there. Well guess what we could not use it when we tried to reserve our time. This past May we attempted to use our timeshare in Gatlinberg for a mid week trip and were yet unable to use the timeshare again. We are having to pay outrageous fees at the end of the year for points we haven't used because we can not reserve our time. We have attempted to sell the property without any luck. Beware! The sells people will lie and mislead you for a sell. you are a challenge to them! There is a reason they are called crime shares.

I submitted a contest sweepstakes entry, for $50, 000 or a 4day 3 night vacation package, at a gas station by my house. About 2weeks later I received a phone call telling me I'd one a vacation getaway for 3days and 2 nights. I wasn't that interested in a vacation for the 1 year it was offered for. So they told me I could get 2 vacations the 1st to be used w/in 1yr. the 2nd w/in one year after the 1st. They told me I could use that 2nd one even to the Bahamas. All this for $129.00 and sitting thru a 1&1/2 to 2hr. sales pitch. They told me to get my package in the mail look it over and and if it wasn't all it said I could cancel within 30 days. I got the package details and it didn't say anything about the 2nd trip and the fine print said "no matter what you're promised on phone the truth is only in black and white". So I wrote them w/in the 30 days & sent it return receipt requested so I'd have proof that they received it w/in 30 days and it's been almost a month and they still have'nt sent my $ back to me. So I'm making a copy of all my info again and sending another request of my money back and filing a complaint with the better business bureau.

Timeshares have to be planned pretty far in advance. You can't decide two or three weeks ahead of time you want to go somewhere and expect it to be available. Everyone needs a manual on how to use a timeshare. The Resorts won't offer one. Today there are several websites dedicated to demystifying the timeshare industry. Trying to use a timeshare is like walking in a minefield, except it won't kill you.

(from same person)

Even more recent development... our timeshare did rent after all (through Bluegreen) ... they had told us that it would rent for at least $3,000, and probably more like $4,000. It was the high season at their most popular place, Boyne Falls, Missouri (near the Ozarks). We decided to rent it to try to get some of our money back that had poured down the huge financial hole which is Bluegreen. Well, we received our check today... a whopping $700! Seven hundred dollars! They rented our 10,000 points (which is really all we get for two years) for $1,100... they get to keep 30 percent, of course. We were flabbergasted. Had they simply called and said, "We realize this is your property and these are your points, and we were wondering if you are willing to rent for $1,100," we would have instantly said, "NO!" But they didn't. It was completely out of our hands. So now we can't travel anywhere for two years, and all of our points were used for what will barely pay for one year of owning Bluegreen. We can't travel for two years, but we get to keep paying fees!

It's come to the point where we will probably just stop paying our fees, which means we won't ever be able to travel anywhere with them. It seems unethical to sell such a huge burden to someone else. And we'll just have to treat that $10,000 we paid as a lesson learned, which is: never... ever... buy from Bluegreen. They will tell you whatever you want to hear, but everything will change once they have their money. We thought they were different, but apparently they just have better-than-average salespeople that seem more genuine than usual.

To Phillip: Maybe you missed the part where we got $700 for 10, 000 points. They *tell* you you can get $4, 000, but that didn't happen. Since you seem to feel this is an excellent investment, please respond to this with information on how to reach you so that you can buy our 12, 000 points. We'd be happy to enrich your life by selling them to you, since you obviously know how to benefit from them.

My in-laws are owners they rent out one of their weeks themselves. By advertising online, Listing a certain week in a certain place available. For X amount of dollars that way they get 100 % of the money from the renter. You might want to try this before you throw your hands up and just give up. I have also seen them in the newspaper under classifieds.

Bluegreen Vacations lies and broken promises

We bought into Bluegreen, had great credit for being 21 and 25. Everytime we tried to go somewhere, there wasn't anything available. We were pressured into buying it. I called and talked to a lady in Branson and told her my situation and she said she would try and get me out of the agreement. I received the best phone call in my life a few weeks later stating that we would be able to get out of our agreement, with no refund (which we never asked for) and that it wouldn't affect our credit. We tried to get a home loan to get a house since our family had since grown and where told that our credit score was to low. I called the Branson office and the lady had retired and they gave me the number for Corporate. I talked to a guy named Jamie. Told him we just wanted out of the contract and explained what went on. He said they never make deals like that and that I had been lied to. We continually tried to get out of the contract since we have paid thousands and never have went on a vacation. He said if we paid up to date they would fix our credit and that we couldn't get out the contract. I paid them a thousand dollars and they started taking money out monthly. They stopped taking the money out in May, I haven't seen any withdrawals and our credit was never fixed. Our credit scores of above 700 are now 560. We were aware of the maintenance fees but weren't aware of the yearly fee. I am sure it is all written in the fine print though. We were shown something that wasn't true.

Hey it's Kassie! So a long time has since passed. No we are not out of the bluegreen contract. However I did contact the attorney general for our state. Missouri! He took the case and it actually was sent to a local attorney. All at no cost to me. They informed us that since so many people have filed a complaint that they have to go thru each complaint individually and come to a resolution before they can announce the outcome. The lawyer said she believes that we will have our credit restored and that we should be able to get a refund since we never used their services! I'll keep you posted!

To Judy in MO:

You may have already found this out. At the Bluegreen Resorts when they schedule your "three day marketing stay" which is actually only 43 hours (for example - from 4PM check in on Friday to 11AM check out on Sunday) that $249 is considered a special promotional rate. If, for any reason, you do not show up and sit through the entire high pressure sales presentation then your special promotional rate will be revoked and they will bill you for the regular rate for a three day stay. It usually turns out to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $750.

You are dealing with a company with no scruples. I have been doing research on Bluegreen for the last week in an effort to help my disabled brother and his wife who became victims last year. They walked into the sales pitch wide-eyed, innocent and very foolish. They unfortunately gave up $20, 000 of their life savings for a timeshare ownership that is now worthless. They have attempted on three separate occassions since last year to book stays using their points. Each time they have been told that the resorts they have requested are fully booked for at least the next six months. I live near the resort where their deeded cabin is located and I know for a fact that the resort is rarely more than 2/3 full. When their points can't be used within one year they lose them. But even when they can't get into a resort with their points they still have to pay all the annual fees (membership, maintenance, taxes, etc.) or Bluegreen could foreclose on the ownership.

So far, I have found where Bluegreen has been successfully sued in NJ, PA, MO, WI and FL. We are now working with the Attorney General in our state to attempt to get justice for the many victims here.

It is now 2010, and Bluegreen is still taking advantage of people. We were told we had "won" a trip to Las Vegas and just needed a credit card number to hold our reservations. I don't give out my number to anyone. A few days later we recieved all this information in the mail and then a phone call. The old saying, "if it seems to good to be true..." is so right. The promise was for "one of the main resorts" and was only $249 for the two of us. When I called a few days later to cancel, I was told, no problem, they would return our money immediately. Guess what? No refund. Now it is too late to get a refund and we are still the owners of this trip. Anyone want to purchase a wonderful trip for just $249? Oh yes. you have to purchase your own air fare and make your own reservations and sit in a 90 min. lecture, but it is in one of the big resorts.

This same thing has happened to us. We can never get in the vacation area that we would like and were told that we could go to an area several states away which is ridiculous. We are paying maintenance fees and now they charge club fees. We have gone to two meetings and stayed twice at Boyne Mountain where their club is located. It took them over three hours to get us into the room there so our time was wasted on one day. Then we had to travel further to reach Mackinac Island. It is just ridiculous that they make promises of going anywhere and yet we cannot get in anywhere even in the slowest seasons. I want to get out and need help as well as we are paying and cannot even use this and its wasting our money. PLEASE, I beg of you to help us if you can!

Please let me know if you actually did get out of your contract. My husbands working hours have been cut and we can no longer even afford the monthly mortgage that Bluegreen takes from our bank account. Much less the yearly maintenance/club fees that seem to increase every year. I don't want a refund on what we have paid to them. But, I want out of the contract. I want to owe Bluegreen nothing more. We can never get vacation time when we want it or where we want it. In fact, we pay the monthly to Bluegreen and have ended up paying for a hotel room in the same area because we could not get reservations at Bluegreen. Please, if you got out of your contract...PLEASE tell us how. PLEASE.

Bluegreen Vacations $425.00 per month for vacation which l never got

Bluegreen Vacation Club
www.bluegreenonline.com

We received an e-mail from BLUEGREEN a few yrs ago promising a free night stay at BRONSON. My wife and l went to Boson. We were told that after joining the vacation club we could use the proceeds from the rental to pay part of the payments .l was paying $425.00 per month from my checking accounts plus $2000.00 down payment at the BRONSON office. After paying the 38 months of $425.00 and not able to use any vacation l called the bank and stopped payment.

Each time l called to either use the time share at Myrtle beach in South Carolina or elsewhere l was told that l need to pay more or l did not have enough points to take the vacation at BLUEGREEN. I found out a month ago that they claim that l foreclosed on my property at BLUEGREEN.

l did not received any title for any property nor l did not spend a day or an hour at any of BLUEGREEN RESORTS.. My FICO score went down due to BLUEGREEN putting this on my credit. l am in the process of purchasing a home and this is hurting my credit score after paying BLUEGREEN $ 38 MONTHS @ $425.00 AND A $2000.00 DOWN PAYMENT.

One would think that after spending over Twenty thousand dollars for a vacation club you would be able to spend at least a day there, well l never did and could not. Mortgage for for what? l did not own anything, never laid eyes on my vacation place one even for an hour or even a minute. Yet l was paying $425.00 per month for vacation which l never got.

TIME SHARE IS NOT A GOOD IDEA FOR SOMEONE WHO WANT TO TAKE A VACATION, THIS IS FOR THE CORPORATION TO USE YOUR MONEY FOR THEIR PURPOSE.

I agree with this complaint Bluegreen is just a big lie! They just steal peoples money and then screw them over with messing up their credit by posting this as a foreclosure! Same exact happened to me. I payed all these fees, downpayment and never once used the resort because of all their lame excuses. So of course I wasn't going to keep paying for
It when they weren't even letting us use it. Now they have the guts to post this as a foreclosure on our credit report!? Really?! wow! I have put in a dispute to the credit bureau they filed this to so I hope this gets changed to different wording because how can this be a foreclosure if we would of never owned this thing? And how can they compare $8, 000 timeshare with a property? For example a house that is usually over $100, 000! Yeah their idiots! This company should be shut down!

What a whimp you are. You agree to buy somthing and then stop payment you are lucky its only your credit score thats damaged you should be in jail for fraud. People like you cost other owners a lot of money and IMHO you should be sued to recover all costs involved.

As for not being able to use your points did you ever think to ask the reservation staff to explain to you what you should do since everytime you try they was no availability.

Did you not contact owner services.

Bluegreen Vacations poor service!

We sat for FOUR HOURS listening to their sales pitch. After we said we couldn't afford it, they got very offended and left our table; when they came back, they gave us a lower offer we could afford. We took it--keep in mind that my husband was VERY thorough in the questions he asked. They told us specifically that we would absolutely receive 50% off ALL hotels... come to find out, it's UP to half off the most expensive hotels in the area! We tried getting a room in Grand Rapids, MI and they only had one hotel in the area that cost more than the hotel we normally stay at--AND I discovered the "special rate" we could get was the same price Hotels.com charges for the same hotel! And we were told we could cancel within a certain time period, but use the points right away... hmm well we didn't even get our membership cards to call any place for over a month, then there was no place open to reserve, we could not use the bonus nights thing because all the rooms were taken everywhere we called...

We have tried selling our timeshare, Bluegreen will either not return our calls or, if we reach someone, they tell us that they can't do anything about it. The lady who sold us the timeshare said we could sell it for more than we paid for it... her supervisor told us that if we tried selling it we would definitely get our money back because prices were going up...we paid $10,000 for that timeshare. When we called the place that is selling the timeshares, we were informed that the average selling price is $6,000! Still getting lied to and SICK OF IT.

Listen evryone it is cheaper to rent a villa about £400 per week, so i could rent a villa for 2 weeks with the money being paid for the maintenance fee to Bluegreen $1, 167.00 in UK money over £800 this is for 1 week a year. Where this Philip Smith gets his figures from i don't know, i'm ashamed that he is a fellow countryman, with some of the things he's written on this forum beggars belief. I hear he works in the textile business YOU don't supply bluegreen do you.

Why would anyone buy a timeshare so they could get cheap hotels very strange?

We have never had a problem with reservations.

We have always been able to use Bonus time $490 for a 7 night say in Orlando for 8 people is not bad going.

And 8 yrs down the line we are break even so anythig now is just MF which works out a lot cheaper than renting a villa/condo.

Bluegreen Vacations almost a sucker

I was at an art fair with my daugther (2 yrs old). While we were walking around, the booth attendees for some vacation sweepstakes saw my daughter and used their "spinning wheel" of prizes to lure my daughter over. They were super friendly, shoved a sign-up card into my hands and said fill it in. I'm usually leery of signing up for anything but stupidly I did this time thinking, "heck, it's not like I'll win anything anyway, then they'll just forget about me and I can go on my way." They let me spin the wheel and got a cheap prize - a bead necklace.

A month later my husband gets a call from this guy saying that I won actually won the 4 free vacation tickets to anywhere, even to Europe. My husband told him to call me personally. Meanwhile he informed me of the call. My sister who happened to be standing there listening asked me where the presentation was going to be held...she had already been to one and warned me it was about timeshare sales. Not even 5 minutes later, I get a call from the same guy who spoke to my husband. He quickly gave me his pitch on all the prizes I would get but my only obligation is to attend the 90 minute presentation. He was flirty just like one mentioned in some of the other complaints. He said the name of his company so fast I couldn't remember it. I started asking if this was timeshare related, what obligations did I have if I accepted the tickets, why did they need my credit card. All I got in response was deflect, deflect, deflect. .."No ma'am, this is not a timeshare sale, we are not a resort, you don't have to buy anything, all you need to do is show up for the 90 minute presentation." Shortly after that I did get a second call from a no BS lady who confirmed all my information. It sounded like she even struggled to say "have a nice day". I kept thinking, "okay, I should trust my sister" but the offer sounded SO good.

In the morning, still undecided, I decided to read the confirmation letter and search the internet. At the bottom of the letter it clearly says "THIS ADVERTISING MATERIAL IS BEING USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING THE SALE OF TIMESHARE INTERESTS." I also found all the complaints on this site. Needless to say, it's 45 minutes from my presentation, and I'M NOT GOING.

I'm sure I'll be getting a few more calls, we already got one this morning. Many thoughts are going through my head right now, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't", "you don't get something for nothing" and "NEVER GET SUCKERED TO FILL IN A SWEEPSTAKES FORM AGAIN".

My husband and I just visited the Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, MO. Very nice for couples as well as families, something for everyone.
We went as guests of BlueGreen owners (my in-laws) who joined in 2006. They are very skeptical people and we were surprised when they told us about buying into this timeshare program. So far they have not had any complaints about their experiences with bluegreen resorts and their other bonus programs. They already have used it several times, and not had any problems with making reservations, yet.
We (my husband, our 5 year old son, and myself) signed up to hear their presentation (via Bass Pro Shop) in Springfield, MO. "For FREE GIFT 150.00 bass pro gift cards". We did pay a 25.oo non-refundable fee and was told that we would have to stay at lease 90 minutes to get the FREE GIFT.
Since we were already staying as guests of property owners we were considered "owner referred". The salesman told us they could offer us a better deal, but it was still out of our price range. When we declined he was surprised, but was still very polite and respectful. We did not feel the highpressure isssued that others have experienced. When we were taking to the area to receive our free gifts, our salesman told us about the 'sampler' package. He explained everything in detail from "We had 12 months to decided to change our mind about becoming owners to all the blackout dates, etc. before we agreed. We did agree to the sampler. I pray that we will have a more pleasant experience than others have had.
By the way we have been to others timeshare presentations both were in Gatlinburg. Said no to both, out worst was 'Fairview'. The guy tried giving us a sob story and then brought in a manager and made us feel like we didn't want to give our family nice vacations. I believe all timeshare presentations have a negative rap at some point.
However, after reading these comments I will reconsider my thoughts of being an owner.

I'm at a loss - am I just stupid or am I reading that most people are wimps. DUH! What's wrong with a timeshare presentation? Doesn't anyone know how to say NOOOOOOO I'm not interested. They don't want your first born child - the don't want your Soul - they just want to see you squirm for a while. I love to make Salesmen mad - my wife hates it.

I am so glad i decided to look up BlueGreen before i showed up for the "90 min presentation". Thank you so much for sharing your experience and warning the rest of us. What's so funny is they ask you why you won't reschedule and they know fully well they are scamming you.

Bluegreen Vacations scam company!

I had both similar, and different experiences. First, everything written is true. There is a highly polished, skilled, cheesy sometimes flirtatious sales presentation. The "heavy" or the closer, is much tougher, and downright rude and mean. However, if I'm not going to buy from you when you are nice, you certainly aren't getting my money by trying to intimidate me. Perhaps my 25 plus years military police experience and super cynical attitude in life provides some armor? I concur with the bad "intended to be overheard" acting, and special deal, but only if I sign now. It is high pressure, more gentle persons are easily offended and scared. I however love tough tough negotiations.

Let the buyer beware. You do not get something for nothing. This industry is an improvement upon standard timeshare churning. I guarantee you this, if the "seller" isn't producing, they are on their butt, out the door. You can make mad money selling timeshares, have a few bad months, and you are gone. It might even be faster.

If you use your points, you will extract value from the company. Truth be told, the company does not want you to use the facilities. They want your money only. Once they have your money, they would prefer you never show up as it is less inventory available to sell to others. If you use the points to the max, and you may have to travel to use them, you get a return on your investment. I invested just over 10K. I have had the membership for 5 years. Since I travel a lot and spend many nights in hotels costing roughly $100 to $200 a night, I believe each night is worth $100 to me in value. That is slanted highly in my favor, as I get a great condo or cabin in Virginia and use of facilities, whereas when I travel, I get a box with a bed in it.

I am breaking even now in my 5th year. All use after this is gravy. I believe the actual dollar value of my package is roughly $3000. That is all I could reasonably expect if I sell it. Matter of fact, it is all I will ever pay for more points. Even though I attend a briefing on every visit, I hold out until they offer at least three incentives (notice the form at the top has three lines for incentives, they can offer all three). If you don't believe me, when you are there and they call and want to give you an update, tell them your time is worth more than the $25 gas card or dinner coupon. They will call back if not immediately offer you more. Refuse again. A supervisor may wait to call, but you will be called. Why? Because you were a sucker once, chances are you will be a sucker twice. They will gladly give you $50 for gas (admittedly not that valuable anymore), the lunch coupons, and more. If they won't give it? I don't go. They want me to go up to Silver. I never will. Why? Because then they haven't much incentive for continually paying me money to watch their soap opera acting antics: you know the one where your seller argues with the boss, for some of the reserve points, the hold backs, or the ones folks sold back to Blue Green? Special inventory? Or the "point prices go up on the 1st of the month" Can't tell you how many times I have heard that, only to be offered the same price repeatedly. No matter what the sale, it works out to about $1.67 a point.

I will buy your points if you wish to sell. I will only offer $3000. It will terminate your maintenance fees, membership fees, etc.

Please do try to travel to other bluegreen facilities. We love Shenandoah Crossing, Gatlinberg, Christmas Mountain and a few others. My mom just returned from Aruba, and Myrtle Beach. I Will be at Big Cedar for Christmas.

The big issue for this company is simple and easy to fix, but it makes them money so they won't. Bottom line: Sales and marketing have no connection to operations. When they ask how your stay is going, and they write down issues with your unit . . . they throw it away. If they connected sales quotas to customer satisfaction, you can bet these sharks in sales would terrorize the folks running the resorts and make sure the facilities were top notch.

Feel free to e-mail me, I am serious about wanting more points.

Use your points, complain to any and all managers until it is fixed, but sales is sales, it always has been and always will be. Brutal and unforgiving. I just happen to be better at it than them.

Attorney General Corbett announces lawsuits against Florida timeshare & vacation companies accused of advertising, real estate, and telemarketing violations

HARRISBURG - Attorney General Tom Corbett today announced lawsuits today against four Florida-based companies accused of illegally marketing vacation packages, using "free" airline ticket offers and other worthless prizes to lure consumers into aggressive and deceptive timeshare presentations.

Corbett said consumer protection lawsuits were filed against Bluegreen Corporation, Bluegreen Resorts, Bluegreen Vacations Unlimited, Inc. and Great Vacations Destinations, Inc., all of Boca Raton, Florida. Bluegreen contacted consumers by phone and through kiosks at shopping malls, fairs, and festivals throughout Pennsylvania, and also operates full-time sales facilities in Hershey and King of Prussia.

"Virtually any consumer with a checkbook and a pulse allegedly qualified as a 'winner' in these promotions, " Corbett said. "Unsuspecting consumers who believed they were contest winners were actually drawn into a high pressure bait-and-switch campaign designed to push timeshare vacation packages costing thousands of dollars."

Corbett said more than 5, 700 Pennsylvania residents purchased Bluegreen timeshares, with many paying $20, 000 to $40, 000 or more for packages that violated Pennsylvania's Consumer Protection Law, the Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act, the Telemarketer Registration Act and other consumer regulations.

Phony Prizes
Corbett said that Bluegreen representatives allegedly called consumers who believed they were entering contests and other promotions promising cars, cash and vacations.

According to the lawsuit, consumers were told that they had not won the "grand prize, " but had been selected to receive other items, like free airline tickets. Consumers were also promised free gasoline and meals when they collected their prize, if they attended a 90 minute timeshare presentation.

Corbett said the lawsuit alleges that consumers who were contacted by Bluegreen were not actually randomly selected prize winners. Instead, virtually everyone who entered the contests was contacted and falsely told that they were a prize winner.

In one case, Corbett said a consumer informed a Bluegreen representative that the person they were trying to reach did not live at that address. The consumer was told that it wasn't a problem - they would give her a prize too.

High Pressure Sales and False Advertising
Corbett said that in order to collect their "prizes, " consumers were required to schedule an appointment with a Bluegreen sales representative. In some cases, consumers who believed they would be attending a 90 minute timeshare presentation were actually subjected to relentless marketing pitches that lasted five hours or more.

According to the lawsuit, numerous deceptive statements were made to consumers during these presentations in an effort to get them to sign contracts immediately, including phony claims that prices would increase the next day, misrepresentations about when and where consumers could travel if they made a purchase and false statements about certain fees being waived.

Corbett said that some consumers bought vacation programs because they were told they were entitled to a one-week stay in Hawaii, only to learn afterward that the program they purchased could not be used in Hawaii.

According to the lawsuit, consumers who sat through the timeshare presentations received "prizes" that were nothing like what they had been promised. The "four free airline tickets" were actually booklets that offered two airline tickets with each hotel room reserved, at high prices, in a limited number of cities. In some situations, consumers were required to commit to a 10 night stay at overpriced hotel rates before being able to select a local airport for their flight.

Corbett said "free" gasoline and meals that consumers were promised turned out to be coupons or certificates with lengthy terms and conditions. For instance, consumers who were promised $40 in free gas were required to submit written requests to obtain a series of gas coupons. The coupons required consumers to pay for their gas first and then mail a receipt for reimbursement, with each coupon limited to a $5 purchase, with no more than one purchase per month.

Illegal Contracts
Corbett's said contracts used by Bluegreen failed to properly inform consumers of their right to cancel their purchase. Pennsylvania law requires that consumers have five days to cancel any timeshare or campground purchase. Bluegreen is also accused of violating a state law that requires all consumer contracts to be written in easy-to-understand terms.

Do Not Call Violations
According to the lawsuit, Bluegreen made numerous calls to consumers who were on Pennsylvania's Do Not Call list, allegedly basing those calls on referrals from other customers. Additionally, the companies are accused of making repeated calls to consumers who clearly told them not to call again.

"Bluegreen took advantage of hardworking Pennsylvania residents eager to find an affordable getaway, " Corbett said. "Using deceptive contests, relentless sales presentations and misleading contracts, consumers were pressured into paying thousands of dollars for vacation packages that don't meet their needs or their budgets."

Corbett said the lawsuits seek restitution for consumers who suffered financial losses because of these deceptive or illegal practices.

Additionally, Corbett says the lawsuit asks the court to void all illegal consumer contracts and give consumers the right to cancel any agreement that did not include the state-required notice of cancellation.

The lawsuit also seeks up to $1, 000 in civil penalties for each violation of the Consumer Protection Law, or up to $3, 000 for each violation involving a senior citizen.

The lawsuits were filed in Commonwealth Court, in Harrisburg, by Senior Deputy Attorney General David Sumner of the Attorney General's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Corbett says the investigation began after consumers contacted his office to report these practices. He encouraged other consumers who have problems with Bluegreen to file a complaint by calling the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Hotline at [protected] or submit an online consumer complaint.

Corbett offered the following tips to consumers considering a timeshare:

Bluegreen Vacations lack of ability to use points

We have been Bluegreen owners for several years and have found it extremely difficult to work through the points system. I have plenty of points to make a reservation in June but because those points convert to a different category (i.e. saved!) at the end of May, I can't make the reservation. Each time I have tried to use my points, I get a different variable concerning the status of my points! None of this was ever mentioned, let alone explained to us at the time of the presentation.

We have become very frustrated with the whole program and regret ever buying into this company. I think Bluegreen has certainly sold many owners "property" that simply is not there! We have a deed to nowhere!

We like to travel with the grandchildren and since they are in school, that travel usually takes place during the summer months. The Bluegreen Company usually considers that time of year their high red or ultra red season, and it makes using the saved points almost impossible. At the presentation, one of the things we liked about it was the fact that you could accumulate points and save them for a longer vacation or extra rooms. We were not told of the "saved" category and how it worked. We were never informed that we would lose our saved points if they were not used by a deadline.

Up until this point, I have felt that maybe it was my fault for not understanding all of the variables of the complex point system. After reading some of the other complaints, I realize that it was not me, but the fraudulent tactics of Bluegreen. I am quite disappointed with the company and frustrated with the whole process.

If you have any true, reliable advice, or would offer us any reasonable amount for our points, we would love to get out. We were told that there was a company named "Pinnacle" who would sell our points for us, but we've not been able to locate them. Help!

You need to use up your saved points in the beginning of the year. Save your new points. You must specify when making reservations. Furthermore your anniversary date has alot to do with availability. For example if you don't own a VIP level you can book 11months out. Meaning if you get your points on march 1 you can book Out march- january. If your trying to get in June or July you only have 4-5 months priority. Prob won't get into a popular resort. I would suggest changing to a every other year like I did. This will allow you to book 11 months out anytime in a 24 month window and get what you want when you want. My representative is very knowledgeable and has really coached me tge first couple years.

Don't use Pinnacle. They are owned by Bluegreen and your points won't sell. Ours have been there 2 years and all they can say about them not selling is we are asking to much and need to lower our price. I once told them i was not going to lower my price because if they were worth that much when i bought them they should be worth at least that much now. Their response was the market was down and that was not the case. But i guarantee they did not lower their price. I too wish i had never bought. If anyone knows a way out PLEASE let me know.

Thank you for posting your experience on the web. They almost had me. This would hadve been my second ripoff! My husband and I got into Travel More Now and never received any benefit from our $4,000.00. But when I got home from signing up with Mountain Loft in Gatlinburg, TN, I went out on the net to reaserch it. Then I began to comprehend that the 9,000 point I hd bought for $11,000 would not even get me a decent vacation each year. The representative told me I could trade for RCI resorts, no problem. She did not tell me that with 9,000 points, that would be virtually impossible. I cancelled befor the 10 day grace period was up. I am so grateful that I got out. I am a senior (72) on a fixes income. Thanks again!

The only thing i know about Pinnacle is they are a collection agency for maintenance fees that are overdue. If you are referred to collectiona they will charge you a penalty of 60% (yes sixty ).what i want to know is if i owe maintenance fees i cant reserve a week, they in turn rent it to someone else and get the proceeds for the rental. So dont get a week , they charge me exhorbitant late fees and they get the money for the rental. Seems to me that if they rent it it should go towards paying my maintainence fees.
The Florida law that is stated on the maintenence fee paper work states that if the unit is rented the owner should get the proceeds. When i spoke to several customer service reps they responded like I had two heads. . Someone needs to crack down on their unfair and assumedly illegal practices as they are triple dipping!

I agree with the complaint against Bluegreen we have been owners before the point system came into existence and have been completely disappointed with the whole point system you can never take a vacation when or where you want to. We too would love to sell our points as they are about useless for our family and the maintenance fees cost more than if we just rented the condo for one week.

My husband and I were ALMOST scammed by Bluegreen resorts. We paid 20.00 (refundable) after we listened to their PROMISED 90-minute presentation on the company (SCAM). However, my husband and I ended up there 5 and a half hours. Needless to say we signed up for their sampler plan after not being able to afford the highly priced 25,000 plan they offered...

Bluegreen Vacations they will look into your eyes and simply lie to you!

We were first contacted via my "do not call" listed phone, and was asked to attend a one hour meeting for a resort package, in return for free gas, free accommodation, free dinner at Wisconsin Dells, along with one free air/hotel package.

At the time the phone call was made, my husband and I thought it wasn't such a bad deal to take the kids down to the Dells for virtually free. It would only cost us one hour of our time.
How wrong we where.

About 20 minutes went by, we received another phone call from Bluegreen, apologizing that they had no rooms available at the arranged meeting time. so instead they offered a voucher for a chain hotel within the area for a latter date instead.

I should of realized by then it maybe difficult to obtain accommodation through Bluegreen. 12/31/06. We attended the resort and met our sales rep. Sat around and listened to their jargon, then viewed some examples. Returned over an hour later to face the final number crunching curtain.
This is where they get very aggressive. I didn't feel comfortable about signing anything without doing research, nor did I wish to be contracted into anything long term.

From there I was bullied to the point of walking out and leaving my husband behind, allowing him to banter out a mutual and satisfactory agreement.

$895.00 package for only one year with a 30 day cooling period. My partner agreed this to be fair, relocated me then proceeded with the signing. A few hours later, they picked up our contracts, including the 30 day opt out agreement and offered us one of their glamorous bags to put it in. This is where documents seem to conveniently on their behalf, vanish.

We get home, I research, and find many complaints with Bluegreen. no problem, I have 30 days to back out right! Wrong. the office never returns calls, so after many endless attempts, we contact the sales rep. He explained to us that Bluegreen NEVER gives a 30 day opt out, and we must of mistaken it with their "arrange your own finance" within 30 days.

We were lied too! They will look into your eyes and simply LIE to you. Beware of bluegreen. From what I've been researching about this company, this is probably the beginning.

As for the freebies, didn't use them, I don't agree with the "good faith" deposit. Not free after all.

I had a similar experience in Florida at Tradewinds. We listened to the 90 minute presentation, which appeared awesome, and I was sold. Then came the sales pitch. Our salesman was "new". He offered us an ice cold beverage of our choice, and after sitting through the 90 minute presentation. We were parched. He walks us back to their beautiful marble bar just to find out their ice maker was broken, and so was the soda machine. So even though they get us all worked up for an ice cold beverage, all they were able to deliver wax lukewarm tap water. Looking back on it, I believe this to be there "transparency" subliminal message to foreshadow and warn prospective buyers. My husband and I listened to the "new" guy, feeling bad for him for being so awkward and sled conscious. He immediately won us over. His superior, was also nice, and shared with us that he had once been a "stand up" comic, which I believe is another one of bgs commonalties. I was sold, my husband was not. However, at the end of the 6 hours, we signed on the dotted line. We collected our $25 dollar food voucher, our $100 Visa card, our free 3 day, 2 night future stay somewhere, and the Samsung notepad. On the way back to our condo. We immediately stupid for signing and regretful of our descion. This was 3/06/15. At the condo, I researched BlueGreen, found all if the complaints, reviewed the contract we signed mire closely, and saw the page that outlines we have 10 days in Florida to rescind the contract. We drove back to our homestate and I proceeded to type up letter outlining resinscion of contract and mailed it UPS Overnight delivery to address on the form as well as the sales office. I am hopeful we dodged the bullet. I mailed everything out 3/08 and it was received by BlueGreen on 3/09. We will see if I get my refund and if this ends our experience with the highly questionable (ska: Sketchy Sleestack Practices) of this BlueGreen Corp.

Well...I discovered the deal with these Bluegreen cheerleaders.
Ever wondered why someone would come to a consumer complaints site and cheer on the bad guys, the rip off artists, scamsters, crooks and thieves (Bluegreen). I just didn't get it...until I did some research. These guys are paid "REPUTATION DEFENDERS". Companies pay these dirt bags to scour the internet and DEFEND thier practices.
Proof: Google the following words "reputation defense".

There you go again bitter and twisted

if people just take the time to check out my advice then some of them would become happy owners.

I have no idea why you are so twisted maybe you applied for a job with them and they told you to get lost who knows.

We all know that you would not take all of this time defending these ### if you didn't have something to gain, P. Smith. So, if you don't work for them, you are somehow connected. I don't know of anyone-especially someone with a sickly wife who has the kind of time that you do to post of your idiotic comments. These people have been victimized and YOU KNOW IT! There are over 200 postings on here about how they are liars and cheats. You are very careful selecting the horror stories that you will try to rebutt, I've noticed that. Yes you are very selective indeed. There is no defending this morally bankrupt company.
They didn't sucker me in, so I have nothing to gain here. If you are so impressed with this company and feel it is your duty to come to their defense at every turn, why don't you buy up all of these unhappy consumers' points? Then they could be happy too. P.S. Mr.B.S. We know you are connected to Bluegreen somehow.

Bluegreen Vacations stay away from this scam!

My husband and I purchased a timeshare through Bluegreen at ShoreCrest I in No Myrtle Beach, SC. We have 12,000 points every other year. As, GT McDaniel, we soon learned that we didn't have enough points to use the timeshare for an entire week. Whenever I called to make a reservation, there were never any openings. The $149.00 week stay rather than using our points, never heard of. We also have RCI bonus weeks that are useless! We were definitely mislead. We pay outrageously high interest to a mortgage company owned by Bluegreen, Conflict of interest. No attorney was present at the loan closing. We were never told about the maintenance fee, which is exorbitant, between the monthly payment and the maintenance fee I don't know how much longer we can hold out. We tried to sell our timeshare back to bluegreen, they refused, referred us to a real estate company (Pinnacle Vacations) owned by Bluegreen...I paid Pinnacle $35.00 in 2005 and again in Dec 2006. Nothing! Hope we can do something about this. Thinking of going to the Atty Gen.

Thanks for listening.

We are also extremely unhappy Bluegreen Owners. We knew better when we first bought into Bluegreen, but did it anyway. They made is sound so good. Then brilliant people that we are six months later let them talk us into buying more points so we could be charter members, which we now find out we can't list unless we ask $17, 000 for our points.. Of course we'll be lucky if the points sold for $17 much less $17, 000. While the sales personnel did not out and out lie, they also did not tell the whole truth. They did not directly inform us that even if the loan were completely paid off, our children and grandchildren would be responsible for the annual maintenance fees. The last time we were pressured into buying more points. I said at least three times that we could not afford any more points. That is when the sales person said the value of the points had increased significantly since we first purchased points and that trend was expected to continue. She said that in a few years if we decided the time share was no longer something we wanted that "they" and I took that to mean the consultant at Paradise Point would sale the timeshare for us. She said she could not guarantee a profit but there was every reason to believe that we would make a little money from the sale. She convinced us it was a investment and we were stupid enough to believe it. The time share is now paid for at least as far as Bluegreen is concerned. At this point all I want is to give it away, preferably back to Bluegreen, however, our last visit to Paradise Point sales center with a different sales person made is crystal clear that Paradise Point will not buy back or even take back of points. They only want to sell more points.

Hi, you need to contact Jim at timeshare tricks.blogspot.com his email is timesharetricks@gmail.com, they cannot legally sell you the timeshare as an investment, Jim can use that to get you out and your money back. My husband and I were also SCAMMED INTO Bluegreen also. I got a call in July of 2015 from them stating that I can go for a 3 day 2 night stay in Gatlinburg, TN and all I had to do was go to "one of their 2 hours sell pitch". So my husband and I fell for it, since we hadn't been able to take a vacation in the last 15 yrs. WHAT A MISTAKE! The "2 hour preview" was well after they closed the doors for the night. We were the only people left in the building. However, they did lie to us enough that we ended up buying into their SCAM TWICE! So here we sit with 15, 000 points plus RCI and have NEVER BEEN ABLE TO USE IT because we can't afford it. Between the monthly payments that's owed every month then 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE DUE DATE they SLAM YOU WITH A $1400 BILL that is due a week before Christmas. WHAT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT! I to have never been able to talk to anyone. Once they get your money, YOU are invisible to them. They DON'T CARE if your going to lose everything you own. All they cared about was GETTING EVERY DIME THEY COULD OUT OF YOU. So if there is a LAW SUIT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Myself and My Girlfriend went to BGV presentation, I was misleaded and got in to this SCAM. They kept us there from 2:00 PM - 7:30 PM with out food. We were tiered and want to go back to our hotel ASAP in the end. That moment they brought the financial documents and had me signed 40 pages with tons of signatures and initials. I have not even read that because of time spend there and my situation. Finally I opened account with them and they did not showed me about CANCELLATION processes clearly as they dont want to loss my money. I came back i got one email saying i will be receiving point every 2 years not for 1 year. So i tried to reach them for the number they gave me but no body answered as they were busy cheating other people like me. I dont know the policy that i have to cancel this account before 10 days to get rid of this ****. So i was trying to call them on the same numbers what they gave me to call during presentation if we have any questions. Parallel i was busy at my office and I dont even have time to call them but still i called them 20 times in first 12 days. Finally my girl friend found one number from google and called to that number. Then we came to know that we already crossed the cancellation period and we cant called this BULL **** account. From that movement i called several people but no body were help in our situation. FINALLY i understand we are in trap by looking at google, there are thousands of people who got cheated by this **** company. Still i tried to use my points again same story repeated, I was not able to book one complete week with my points not even one weekend, which is ridiculous. There is on BGV booth in our city so whenever i go there i try to help people by educating them before that booth so that they can't cheat people. I dont understand how company people are working for that company where this company is cheating people openly. GOD is watching them, they have to pay for this in this life and the hearafter life. I try to help people whenever i get chance from this company.

Bluegreen Vacations all promises were lies!

Mid summer of 2005, my wife and I were offered a wonderful (free) weekend get away at our choice of ammusement park and hotel accommodation. All we had to do was to attend a 90 min presentation of what we were told was not a, timeshare. At the end of the presentation, we would receive a $50 meal voucher and the weekend get away information. It is now Nov 2006 and we have yet to receive the meal voucher or take advantage of the get away weekend. Not that we haven't tried, but because all three of the dates we selected were not available. Then we selected another set and again denied.

During the presentation, we were told the most wonderful fairy tells that I have ever heard. Sharing our points with family members, $59 per night Luxury condos that were always available anytime. We were also informed that we could purchase condos through RCI at discount rates for family and friends when we wanted at ridiculously low rates. None of these promises are true. We were lied to in order to get the sale and Bluegreen refuses to concede that these promises were lies. We just want out. We have been faithful in paying our monthly fees and have not used any of the points. If a civil law suit is being filed, count me in. If I could just walk away, I would even foreget the money I have spent as a lessons learned.

Obviously we have had the same problems, we were hit with outrageous maintenance fees as well. We also tried to sell, couldn't, was told they would buy it back, they wouldn't. They also told us that we were not allowed to use any other timeshare Realtor other than Pinnacle, nor could we sell it on our own, that they would not recognize the terms of the sell as authentic if we did, and we would still be accountable. I feel totally stupid for being so gullible, it is easy I guess to sell vacations while the person is on vacation, the buyers just want to keep the experience going or ensure another. Ours has never been used, it has been such a waste.

All of this and Bluegreen still has an A- with the SE Florida BBB. I think many who buy this really have the wrong expectations. I bought a sampler and was pleased with it. Of course I didn't get any prime time vacation. I had to go on a less than perfect time to both places I went to (Big Cedar and Mountain Run) but still it was great fun.

You need to be really flexible in vacation times and willing to be creative sometimes (like book Sunday-Thursday). Still with long enough notice you should be able to book most places. The real busy places, like Orlando's Fountains and others, you should just ask for any time and take it.

I feel sorry for those who never had realistic realizations when they bought these. I also despise the high pressure tactics sometimes used by timeshare salespeople.

I guess I have taken advantage of all the disgruntled folks. I just bought 8, 000 points on eBay for less than $1, 000. That includes title transfer and all other sales related fees. Pinnacle now has over 3800 properties for sale. I wouldn't go there when folks are basically giving them away on eBay.

If I have the same bad experiences some have had here at least I'm only out 1 grand instead of 20. Four years ago I figured the average eBay sale was about 24 cents a point. I got mine for under 5 cents per point (my winning bid was $77 that is less than .01 per point, but I did have transfer fees). Pinnacle, which seems like a subsidiary of Bluegreen, is now down in the mid 20 range.

I bought my husband a gift for Christmas from Bass Pro Shop in Oklahoma City, OK. It was a gift certificate for $50.00 plus a week-end in
Branson, MO and one free show. All we had to do was attemd a 90 minute presentation at Big Cedar Resort in Missouri which is outside of Branson. We were told a bunch of lies. Extra points; $59. a night stay with RCI. We've tried to book vacations several times, but there is never availability. We called and told them that we wanted out of our contract and they told us that the only thing that we could do was to sell our timeshare through Pinnacle Vacations and gave us there number. We talked with Pinnacle and after taking down all of our information said that shouldn't have any trouble in selling our timeshare for what we have in it amd they would keep in touch. We received a postcard from Pinnacle two weeks later giving us confirmation that they had talked with us and that they had listed our timeshare on the internet. This was 9th of August. We haven't heard anything from them since and when we call for information they advise that they will have someone call us. We have heard from no one. We want to join in the lawsuit against Bluegreen Resorts Management. Would you please reply and let us know what else we might be able to do?

My husband and I were very much had the same experiences and the others listed here. We were first introduced to Bluegreen in May 2005 in Pigeon Forge, TN. My mother and father in law took the family on vacation with their points. We experienced a presentation much longer than expected...it was most of the day. Then a rushed decision to buy, price only good for that day. That should have clued us in. We were assured though it would be easy to sell (even back to Bluegreen for a small nominal fee) if we decided we didn't want. As with Scott the resell back to Bluegreen didn't exist. When I called Bluegreen to obtain information about selling back to them, they knew nothing of it. Bluegreen did hook me up with Pinnalce Vacations which was also a dead end. Spent $$ again (finding out later that Pinnacle Vacations is a sister corp to Bluegreen). Never sold. I sought out another time share sales company. Spent $695 to sell, guaranteed listing until it sold. Glad I read the fine print needed to call each year before end of contract to re-list or would not be listed again. I did try to contact them...never did get in contact with them before contract was up. So more $$ spent and no sale!

We have yet to use it ourselves. I was able to book a "cash" vacation for my parents to Hawaii. I was sad to learn when they returned home that their room there did not have any air conditioning. When I booked the room I guess I didn't think to ask about air conditioning, I just assumed that any decent establishment would have air conditioning. especially someplace like HAWAII! We all know what happens when you ASSUME!

I was on the internet tonight to try to obtain points values to book a vacation in June to Florida but...I am a little nervous now reading about the horrible experiences with the quality of the rooms.

What scam! I did see that a few people out there are still interested in Bluegreen..if you are, We will accept any REASONABLE offer. We mostly want to get out from under the fees.

I bought into BlueGreen for the idea I could save a lot of money on vacations. I have yet to be able to nook a vacation. I get penalized for not being a "Gold Member"? I have the 11 month window to be able to book a vacation. Guess what? Every try I have made has been refused. I have the points to be able to reserve a spot for myself. Nothing is ever available though. The issue I have about this whole thing is I was lied to. I bought into it, was told they would buy it back if I was unhappy and, yes, I am very unhappy. Low and behold I can 't get out of the contract I was told they would resell if I was unhappy. I am working with an attorney with a class action lawsuit regarding the lies we are told during the presentations.

I complained to BlueGreen and this is the response I got. VERY official cookie-cutter email I am sure they use all the time.

There seems to be a lot of very stupid people out there and a lot of b******t talked eg Cindy Hicks anyone who owns Bluegreen points know that you can only make a reservation 11 months out with an addition 60 days on the wait list if you are a gold member that makes 13 months so where does she get 2 yrs from. Why buy if you have no intention of using them.

People go to these presentations for 2 things only, one is to buy into the system and the other is to get the freebies. Dont expect something for nothing. Dont call BG a Rip Off when all you have gone for is the freebies, it serves you right if you have signed up for something you Know nothing about all they have done is turn the tables on you. YOU WENT TO RIP THEM OFF AND THEN YOU ACCUSE THEM OF DOING THE SAME TO YOU.

You can use saved points at peak times your Mermorial weekend (our spring bank) both peak holiday periods in each country we have spent many vacations in Orlando or on the gulf coast using saved points, we have also used bonus time.

As for the "Pastors" they again had no intention of buying they just wanted the Freebies very Christian I must say. We have had our monies worth out of BG we have just come back from 3 weeks in Aruba and saved around $3500 taking into account the MF and club dues and we have made savings like that for many years which as now paid off our original cost so the next 999yrs yes we can leave it to the kids are almost free.

Get your facts right before making wild statements and as Wendy says "how many adults actually think the can get something for nothing"

Bluegreen Vacations sales staff lied as inducement to purchase

This is the company that calls you every day and says you won a free vacation. Then they ask for your credit card! Why? Isn't it free? Well, they explain, the "free" vacation costs $700 (or whatever it is that day). Then of course you ask them what you actually won, and they call you names and hang up.

These are the people you would spend THOUSANDS of dollars on? The fact that they are still in business, proves that there really is a sucker born every minute.

Here is what this company is facing in court:

Counts against the defendants, in addition to violations of the fraud act, include deceptive business practices, misrepresentation, nuisance, trespass to plaintiffs’ “time and property,” invasion of privacy and right of association and negligence.

The class action seeks the following penalties: appointment of plaintiffs and their attorney to represent the class of thousands of allegedly injured consumers, a permanent injunction against the alleged practices; requirement that defendants provide free prizes that were promised to consumers; a cease and desist order against defendants’ managers and employees from further described activities; a notification to all victimized club members of a rescinding of their contracts with full refunds; punitive damages in favor of plaintiff class and as a deterrent to defendants, compensatory damages to plaintiffs based on trial evidence and treble damages against the defendants for alleged violations of New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, plus court costs.

I hope they do time. It would still be more fun than their "free vacation".

Seems like all the feelings I have felt about Bluegreen is true! They sold me 10, 000 points and told me that would get me a week a year with points left over... B.S.! I have booked a stay in New Orleans for this year and guess what... Not only don’t I have enough new points for a whole week (I get 5 days Sat-Thurs). I can’t even use some of the points I have saved from last year to make up the difference! Talk about making you mad as hell... I pay all the maintenance fees and all the other silly little cost and I can’t even get a full week. Bluegreen it’s a shame how you do an owner of many years. Now you raise the bar on the points needed to hold me out of a full week, there has got to be some sort of law against selling something and then changing the rules to benefit the company. I knew timeshare was just away for a company to make money by promising the owner that he/she would be so happy that they invested in something that they could hand down to there children, NOT! BLUEGREEN OWNERSHIP IS NOT THE WAY TO GO... also another little note: They charged high interest on their loans no matter how good your beacon score is, that alone should have told me to take the 100 bucks and walk!

After reading most of the posting I feel my wife and I are lucky we did not sign anything we just took the 50 dollar gift card after it was all over. The sales man we had was samuel padilla he talked about his time in the navy and his wife was killed by a carjacker. He dropped a piece of paper I picked it up and it was his commission report, for july 3194.75, aug 5630.00, sept 6196.00, oct. 2267, nov. 1812.00 dec. 547.00.

Looks like he can make alot of money selling this Bluegreen Resort. This how they can sleep at night they just think of all the money they can make. And I dont see any tax information on the piece of paper. They must cheat the goverment of taxes as well.

After doing some research I think the salesman name and stories he was telling us was all made up.

I have recently purchase more points from the Adam Smith, a salesperson, from the Fountains resort in Florida. All the complaints that I have read were true; lies about added benefits (countless) in front of your face. I made a mistake of not recording the conversation. If he is still hired by the company to date, Bluegreen must condone unethical practices. Please let me know if there is a class action law suit going on. If this continues, many families will be cheated of a promise that the company cannot deliver.
