Waitin 2 weeks for an overcharge to be credited
Waitin 2 weeks for an overcharge to be credited. Spoke to ***, hmmmmm dunno what to do next. Would I recommend Them? Probably not!
Ron and the guys did a great job moving us, but the cost ended up being 25% more than their estimate
Ron and the guys did a great job moving us, but the cost ended up being 25% more than their estimate. Dealing with the office was tough, it feels like there's no service once you've paid. We had an insurance claim for damaged goods, and it's been 2 months and still no resolution. They really need to work on improving the office aspect of their moving service.
I would never recommend this company to anyone ever!
I would never recommend this company to anyone ever! Some how, I ended up paying almost double the original quoted price. Furniture and other items were broken. Can’t be sure if all the boxes even arrived at the end point at the moment. Haven’t had a chance to go through everything yet. Please be wary and stay far away from this company! I would give zero stars if I could.
DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!
DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY! They picked up a wood headboard in *** and broke it on the way to B.C. They offered $60.00 for the damaged headboard based on a legal contract that they said they emailed me and did not. When the headboard arrived in *** the drivers were aware that it was broken and the *** office never informed head office in ***. This is a terrible company and I DO NOT recommend them. ZERO STARS.

Worst company!
Worst company! So disappointing. They lied about when my stuff would arrive. And when it finally did, most of my furniture and things were damaged or gone. The workers were so rude, they wrecked my walls and almost fought in my house. And can you believe they showed up at midnight?! Now I'm in a lawsuit with them. They're just awful! Don't recommend at all! I wish there was a zero star choice. I hope they get shut down.
I booked a move with this company and they cancelled on me two days before the scheduled day
I booked a move with this company and they cancelled on me two days before the scheduled day. They did provide a replacement moving company, which was amazing and I would recommend them to anyone. However, I've been in contact with the girl that booked the move to get my deposit back and it's been over a month and there's still no credit to my ***. I'm not impressed. If this is how the company operates, no wonder their employees quit or they have so many negative reviews. I would definitely never recommend this company to anyone. The one that actually did the move was amazing.
BEWARE I moved from Coquitlam to an undisclosed location in AB on August 23, 2022
BEWARE I moved from Coquitlam to an undisclosed location in AB on August 23, 2022. When my furniture arrived a week later, my table was missing. I have the legs and chairs but not the tabletop. They transferred my items between trucks, but apparently didn't check the inventory properly. Upon unloading, I noticed the absence of my table, which was listed as loaded. It's still missing. They suggested my insurance should cover it, but I only received partial furniture. The experience was dreadful. My solid wood, drop-leaf table is gone, and now I need a new set. I advise against using this moving company.
Burly Boyz moved my belongings from one city to a rural area
Burly Boyz relocated my items from an urban center to a rural location. The movers, upon arrival, transported boxes down new maple stairs from the second floor. My partner and a friend took over the task, preferring to continue in that manner. The movers damaged a dresser, a sofa leg, and an outdoor table, bending and scratching it. Two chairs and two kayaks were initially lost, reappearing after three months with one kayak damaged. Despite extra insurance, the company's discretion in repairs and compensation was limited. They fully compensated for the table, excluding taxes. In hindsight, self-moving seems preferable to avoid breakage. Now, I'm left with damaged goods and regret, marking a truly unsatisfactory experience.
Burly Boyz Moving and Storage - don't provide what they promise!
Burly Boyz Moving and Storage - don't provide what they promise! They were contracted to move my elderly father in March. Full pack job with moving, only 525 sq feet. It's tiny! And we were told we didn't need to babysit them, so we left partway through packing. But they must have the worst quality control because when I went back, they missed so much: the front closet, pantry, pots in the stove drawer, and bathroom boxes. They never returned the email that showed them what was missed, and they never returned telephone calls. Now we were charged by time, so our bill was less than budgeted (and we paid them when they were done at the other end). But to go back and find out they left a pile of work for us is bad business and even worse customer service. So if you use them, babysit them and make sure they do what was contracted before you pay because obviously in this situation, they didn't check to see if they did the job as hired nor cared enough to follow up with my concerns. So now they get media shamed.
I don't recommend Burly Boyz for moves off the island
I don't recommend Burly Boyz for moves off the island. They quoted me an extra 0.15/lb for a ferry surcharge, even though the ferry charges by length, not weight. When I asked about it, they gave me a barely satisfactory reason for the high charge. They said it's to make sure the quote is higher than the final bill. Our bill ended up being a bit higher than the quote. When I questioned the 0.15/lb ferry surcharge, they said they have to pay their guys to sit and do nothing on the ferry. Charging $2189.10 for 4 hours on the ferry is a huge exaggeration for an extra 0.15/lb. The estimated ferry fee for a round trip with a 40-foot truck is $620. That's a difference of $1569.10!
We also discussed getting a 40-foot truck box. If we had gotten the full 40 feet, we could have fit everything we wanted to bring. Instead, they sent a 40-foot truck with 10 feet being the cab over storage area. We had to find a place to store our belongings and come back later to get them, all at our own expense. They also broke two pieces of furniture by dragging them across rough flooring instead of lifting them, and they didn't take much care when packing and wedging boxes they didn't pack. I even found boxes labeled "fragile" at the bottom of heavy boxes with crushed items inside. Towards the end of the unloading, they got lazier and lazier with sorting and stacking.
On the positive side, they were pleasant to work with (unless you questioned prices), and the guys worked hard. They did an amazing job packing every inch of the truck. Because of our age and disabilities, it's definitely worth paying extra to have someone else load and unload, as long as it's reasonable.
NOT RECOMMENDED!
NOT RECOMMENDED! If I could give zero stars, I would! I was told my stuff would be sent by train and they gave me a delivery time of 6 to 17 days. It just got worse from there. When I got to ***, I kept in touch with the company. They never gave me a clear idea of when my stuff would arrive. I put Apple Air-tags on some of my boxes and knew my stuff hadn't even left ***. Only after the 17-day window did they tell me the truth. They only ship when they have enough to fill a whole train container. They never told me that the delivery time depended on whether they had enough other business! I had to spend money to live without my stuff. I told them about this and asked if they would pay me back for the costs and delay. They kept avoiding giving me an answer. When I asked to talk to someone higher *** up, they said the owners don't talk to customers and I could only talk to the people I was already talking to. My stuff finally arrived 3 weeks after the guaranteed delivery time. It took 38 days to get from *** to ***. When they arrived, they wouldn't even open the truck until I paid the full amount. If I didn't, they would charge me more for storage if they left without unloading. They said they would give me a discount, but I said it wasn't enough. I paid the rest with the understanding that we would talk more and find a fair solution. But after they got my money, they emailed me and said $600 was all they could give because of their rules. Basically, they have my money now, so they don't care. They were so dishonest and gave terrible service.
My mom went with Burly Boyz Moving Company for her move on June 10th
My mom went with Burly Boyz Moving Company for her move on June 10th. There was already miscommunication when the employees had arrived on the moving day since they thought it was a local move but it was a move from Stony Plain to Edmonton - house to condo which was stated on our part. We thought that there was going to be 4 men helping but only 3 men had arrived and my mom was not informed beforehand that one of them was an employee on training! Which is very important to include on a hectic moving day. My mom had showed them furniture items that didn't need to be wrapped and also furniture items that should be wrapped. They ended up wrapping items that shouldn't have been wrapped and took way too long wrapping those items when they could've been wrapping the more important ones. They also had no basic tools with them and could not take apart a bed frame. A lot of items ended up getting left behind for us to take afterwards. It took them 6 hours to load up at Stony Plain, and prior to the moving day we made sure 3/4 of the boxes and items were in the garage so it would be easy and fast to load. My mom also made 2 trips from Stony Plain to Edmonton to unload lamps and paintings and when she got back they still were not close to being done with loading up. Once they had finally arrived at the new place which is a condo, we had to obviously reserve the elevator and a hallway which was very easy access to the truck and the elevator. It took them very long to unload so we decided to do pretty much 50% of the hauling of boxes and other items to make things go a bit faster. Obviously something you shouldn't really be doing when hiring a professional moving company, but they had taken so long with loading that we were nervous about the end cost and just wanted to get it over with! It was very unorganized and unprofessional. We were not able to move things around and tell them where to put boxes because we were so busy helping. One guy ended up having to leave to go to another job. They dented 2 walls in a brand new condo. Quoted my mom $1200 and when they arrived that morning there was more extra costs with wrapping, which was not disclosed. Overcharged $600 from the initial quote. My mom sent an email outlining her concerns and got an email back saying it's "under investigation" and it's coming on 2 weeks from her move and she hasn't received a phone call or any follow up from this business. We do not recommend this moving company at all. Even the employees that were doing the move said that there's lots of miscommunication from the office. Also, we have not found my mom's '*** which are very costly and approx over $500, however the diffuser was there but the case of essential oils was empty... don't know what happened to it.

Hired Burly Boyz for move from Alberta to Ontario
Hired Burly Boyz for move from Alberta to Ontario. They were 8 hours late at pick up, didn't respond and were inflexible with dates. Didn't use carpet when delivering my furniture and didn't help with re-assembly. Some items were missing at delivery and still missing. Claims Adjuster hasn't responded. They offered $250 for inconvenience, saying it's the norm, but I don't know about that. They won't negotiate and said the $250 is final. They mentioned a midmonth move discount ($461), which I didn't ask for and didn't know it would affect my claims for bad service. They also said they arranged delivery to my daughter's home in Toronto to fix their mistake, or it would've cost over $800. They haven't been honest or transparent, and still no response about the missing items.
I was charged almost duble then what I was quoted, and was told Burly Boyz couldn’t leave unless my bill was paid in full right then and there
I was charged almost duble then what I was quoted, and was told Burly Boyz couldn’t leave unless my bill was paid in full right then and there. I was quoted $600 in full and ended up paying over $900. The next day I spoke to *** in upper management, he was completely unreasonable and did nothing to resolve the issues I had. To top it off after almost two weeks of waiting for a result all I was sent was an e mail and not even a call to discuss after I had been in verbal conversation with him multiple times. I was charged for another mover (which I thought they were just throwing in for good measure) after they changed my moving time around at the last minute. I had no idea about this cost either, so in short I was blindly paying for 3 men instead of 2 which was never, EVER discussed with me. To be responsible to everyone involved all I asked for was this cost back. Nothing more or nothing less, and they couldn’t even do that for me! *** also sent me an e mail saying the company was only giving me $50 back. But I still have yet to even receive that. I am filing this complaint for unethical business practices and hoping I can warn others ***.
I paid this company for a move from Edmonton, Alberta to Toronto, Ontario
I paid this company for a move from Edmonton, Alberta to Toronto, Ontario. My items were picked up on Wednesday, October 5th and were supposed to arrive by Monday, October 24th, as they said it would take 6-19 days from pickup. However, my items were not available for delivery until October 3rd. I spoke with *** and she wasn't helpful at all. She kept telling me that this had never happened before, but I insisted on getting some kind of refund. I had paid for people to help with my delivery and I had to cancel a trip because my items weren't arriving on time. *** gave me a few different dates, but I always had to reach out to her to confirm. He told me they would give me back $25 per day for the inconvenience caused by the delay. I asked *** for the contact information of the owners, but she refused to give it to me. She said that if I had an issue, I could tell her and she would pass it along. On the day of my delivery, which was November 4th, I contacted *** again to discuss my refund, but she didn't respond to my email. I called her and she said, "I saw your email and will get back to you." I have emailed and called *** multiple times since then, but she hasn't responded to my emails, answered my phone calls, or returned my voice messages. I kept telling *** that I am a single mother and had to pay out of pocket for help and cancel trips. Now, I'm at a loss for even more money because this company couldn't stick to their timeline and never updated me. I want a refund of more than $25 a day, especially since it has now been almost 2 weeks that *** has been ignoring me. They took away $140 from my final bill for "late delivery," but that only accounts for 5 days of late delivery, which is not accurate considering how late my items actually were.
I'm a director of the Board for a townhome property corporation in South Edmonton
I'm a director of the Board for a townhome property corporation in South Edmonton. On July 4, a Burly Boyz moving truck hit the balcony of a unit in the complex. Our condominium property at that time contacted Burly Boyz and reported to our Board on July 8 that she had spoken with the claims department of Burly Boyz that morning where they have accepted responsibility for the incident. The property manager further indicated that she anticipates that Burly Boyz will agree to reimburse the corporation for the entire cost of the repair without question, and will further inform the Board of the progress as the time comes. We then hired a claims adjuster to facilitate the repairs of the balcony. Fast forward to February 4, with repairs estimated at $7000, the adjuster shared that they have not yet received a response from Burly Boyz and recommended that the unit owner report the loss to Edmonton police due to the amount of the damage and advise that Burly Boyz is not responding and that our board needs to report this to their insurers to recover costs. On June 17, our adjuster shared that the police were unable to recover insurance information from Burly Boyz. On July 21, Burly Boyz replied to our adjuster "I have forwarded your information to the owners of the company, as I'm the Payroll/HR manager and have nothing to do with damages or claims. Please feel free to contact Dan Madi at the following email address [protected]@burlyboyzmoving.com". Our adjuster contacted Dan right away but did not receive a reply at all. Meanwhile, the total costs have gone up due to emergency provisions and adjuster's fees to $9,383.92. Our Board strongly implore Burly Boyz to take responsibility of this incident. They have allowed this whole time to pass without reaching out to us even to at least acknowledge that they are aware of the situation.
In March , we hired Burly Boyz moving co
In March , we hired Burly Boyz moving co. to move out of our home in Slave Lake AB. They weighed our stuff and made a list of what we had, then they moved it all to their place in West Edmonton. We paid a monthly fee based on how heavy our things were. On July 8th, 2022, they moved everything to our new home in Edmonton. They didn't check if everything was there when they brought it in. After about a week or so, we realized that some things were missing, like a wheelbarrow, garbage cans, hoses, shoes, lampshade, light bulbs, camping gear, new shoes, platters, and more. We told Burly Boyz and gave them a list. They said they started an insurance claim for us. I asked to meet with *** because another employee was really rude to me. During the meeting, I asked if they weighed our stuff when they took it out of the warehouse, and they said they don't do that. They also said it was impossible for things to be stolen because our stuff was in a sealed container. A few days later, they found our garbage cans and hoses and brought them to our house. They figure out how much insurance money to give us based on how heavy the lost items were, but I don't know how they do that if they don't weigh the stuff when it leaves the warehouse. They offered us $60 at first, but then they said they would give us $250 as a nice gesture. That's nowhere near enough to replace what we lost. When I talked to the really rude employee, I asked how often this happens, and she said there were 3 other insurance claims pending in the 4 months she's been there. That's really concerning! It seems like there's something wrong with their system. Overall, I don't trust that they keep track of what they move in and out, and I'm not happy with their $250 offer.
Jan 10: I got a phone quote for a 1+ den move and was told it takes 9-15 days for relocation
Jan 10: I received a phone quote for a 1+ den apartment move, with an estimated transit time of 9 to 15 days from Toronto to Vancouver. Jan 11: I paid the deposit and secured the booking. The logistics coordinator provided me with contact details. She mentioned the move might take up to 20 days. After reconfirming, I was told the email quote stated a 7-30 day window, and no changes could be made. I requested an earlier pickup due to early February needs and rescheduled for Jan 21. Jan 21: The pickup was handled professionally. Despite repeated attempts to contact the moving company, there was no follow-up. Feb 6: Upon reaching out, I was informed my belongings were just being loaded for transit to Edmonton, taking 4-7 days. I highlighted the need for a 48-hour notice for elevator booking. The complaints department promised an update by Feb 11. Feb 14: I sought an update via email. Feb 15: I was told a final decision on my issue was pending. My belongings had started transit on Feb 13 and were still en route. There was no further contact or confirmation of delivery. Feb 25: The movers arrived unannounced. Claims of a voicemail left were unsubstantiated by my call records. It took 35 days in total. The lack of communication and poor customer service exacerbated the stress of moving, forcing me to repurchase items I expected to have. Compensation for these issues is requested.
On Sept 7, I booked a move for mid-October with Burly Boyz
On Sept 7, I booked a move for mid-October with Burly Boyz. They asked me to give a three day window for the move 'cause it was long distance, so I did. I asked when the date would be finalized, and they said I would get a finalized date a week before the move. So, I booked with them. I gave 'em a detailed inventory so they knew what was being moved. Long story short, they delayed my move three times but didn't tell me until the pickup time. The first delay, the driver said he didn't have the supplies, but later he mentioned they were takin' a load to Vancouver (opposite way from Kelowna to Calgary), so they knew beforehand but didn't give any notice. I had booked cleaners, painters, and appointments in Calgary based on the move date they gave me. We already packed our vehicles with clothes, blankets, and perishables 'cause the apartment building only has one elevator. The driver said he'd be back the next mornin', but he wasn't. The Vancouver office told me 2pm, but they showed up at 4pm. They said it would take 1.5 - 2 hours, but it took 4 hours. I had booked a hotel halfway to Calgary, but couldn't make it 'cause it was so late. I had to cancel and pay for another hotel room in a closer city. The movers didn't have tools to take apart the furniture. When they delivered, they didn't put the couch and shelf back together. They also didn't put some boxes in the right rooms even though they were labeled. The managers wouldn't talk to me about any of this.
Scheduled move booked between 1&3pm Friday January 31st
Scheduled move booked between 1&3pm Friday January 31st. Called Burly Boyz to confirm arrival of movers who arrived one hour late and smelling strongly of marijuana. Called office to have a manager contact customer next morning. Estimate given was for 3-4 hours (2 bedroom, no living room furniture). Movers stopped for food and snacks between old location and new location without informing customer and assured customer would not be charged for the over 30 minute break. Movers were carrying a throw rug in each hand (customer rolled all carpets and rugs in one and taped rolled shut that were now being carried individually) as well as empty picture frames, one in each hand. Movers were talking on the phone, smoking and in the back of the truck for much of the delivery side of the move and would only carry items when customer left inside of condo to meet them at the truck and carry items on her own. Movers spoke loudly, rudely and unnecessarily in halls after 10pm through to end of move despite being nicely asked to respect customer's neighbours. Card on file not available as move went from to 1:30am for a 5km distance (additional 6 hours of fabricated chargeable hours). Movers were missing for approximately one hour and when questioned they indicated they were stuck in the elevator (elevator was at main level with door open). Over 10 boxes and wrapping were in the moving truck trailer upon arrival to collect customer's items. Mover *** customer to not leave a bad review at beginning of move and later in the night *** to call police on customer for not agreeing to the costs being billed and having only a small amount in the account available to pay with discussion with management the next morning or business day. BBQ top/grilling portion withheld from customer. *** to take bed mattress and employed intimidation by towering over customer, raising voices and admitting to ***. All items were mishandled, dropped, and banged. Damage to wall of new location caused by movers who stated they would take a picture and the business would take care of it. Not addressed. No rugs were rolled out at new location with movers removing shoes (unnecessary time waste) to place a bed frame and dresser into carpeted room. Conical bag of gummie candies fell from one movers pocket's on the way from elevator in new location to moving truck to collect more items to move in. Several witness accounts of marijuana smell upon arrival and throughout move. Photos captured of repeated dropped items and movers carrying minimal amounts of items per trip to elevator. Move of over 600 km with double the amount of items resulted in a lesser time for moving charges than Burly Boyz move. Children's shoes that were in a corner of the living room in old location (set for donation) were taken by movers and placed on ledge in porch (pink DC and mint green Nike kid's shoes) then covered by a sweater being worn by one of the movers. Lack of integrity (heck take the whole pile due for donation if you'd like, just don't hide it). Contact made upon departure of movers to Burly Boyz office who assured me via voicemail the next day that the CEO has been advised. Followed up a few days later as no one from the company made contact as was promised. Spoke with *** who stated the name of an employee the moment "marijuana" was said. Required additional time to investigate after 3 weeks had passed. No contact for another 2 weeks. Customer followed up via email with steps being taken with no reply. Customer received request for amount owing for services not rendered. cc
