I am writing to address a concerning issue regarding my recent purchase experience at CampMart. On Saturday June8th I visited the store and purchased the 26BH trailer that was listed at $19,999.00. During the transaction, I encountered an unexpected problem that has left me quite dissatisfied. My husband and I asked Luke about the standard warranty, we were told it was 1 year bumper to bumper and 6 year all components. Jason handed me the paperwork and said this is just for the warranty. I did not even look at it as I trusted that it was the same as we discussed verbally.
Upon reviewing the receipt provided to me, I noticed that a warranty charge of $6,995.00 had been added. Jason took advantage of the fact I had been there waiting for two hours, he knew I was rushing to get to work. Jason printed off paperwork and casually handed it to me suggesting I was signing financing documents. He did not discuss any extended warranty with me or ask if I was interested in purchasing one. This is particularly distressing to me as I have trusted CampMart for transparent and fair business practices. Adding charges to my bill without discussing them openly can only be described as a deceptive practice, which has significantly undermined the trust I had in the company. Additional charge was NEVER mentioned by Luke or Jason.
Furthermore, when I contacted Jason by telephone he admitted he never spoke to me about adding the $6,995.00 warranty. He rambled about the finance company approving me at 28% and that in order to get the lower interest rate he had some leeway in terms of rebates and that it would have cost the same without the warranty at 28%. When I contacted Jason by email he would not admit to this in writing which reiterates that this was added deceptively.
I am at a loss for words that this is the way Campmart does it business. Is this actually how they treat customers that trust them in the purchase of a recreational vehicle?
I am not the first person they have done this to and if nobody steps up I won’t be the last.
Claimed loss: $6,995.00
Desired outcome: Refund to finance company $6,995.00
