Charlie Car Rental Unethical behavior

Usually have a great experience with Charlie's. I send all my guests there to get a car. I had guests come in from England and sent them in to the office to rent a car in Aguadilla. They came out a few moments later and asked if the price of $725 was fair for 9 days. Hmmm seems a bit. I go online on my phone and find a rate of $89 per week plus $16 per day. Granted my guests want full coverage insurance as well so it certainly can;t be that much. The self proclaimed owner and manager JESSICA was an absolute witch. She was super defensive that I called her out on her price gouging. She was charging 4 times the cost of the online booking. I showed her my phone and said that if I made the reservation, she would have to wait an hour for the reservation to show up. She couldn't just change the rate in the computer right there? The kicker was that she was attempting to charge Liability insurance on top of Full coverage insurance and some other type of insurance. 3 different types of insurance. I was absolutely furious! NEVER again will I Send anyone to Charlies. Went next door to Dollar and got a great for for $310. JESSICA - You are a huge cancer to a great company.

Charlie Car Rental HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! / RIP OFF!!!

I rented a Kia with this company in Aguadilla, PR from 7/31/11-8/03-11. I was initially scheduled to keep the car for 2 weeks, however; my purse was stolen (along with my wallet, car rental keys etc), so I had to return the car and also pay for a replacement key. The aguadilla office told me it would cost $90 for delivery alone of the keys from the main office in San Juan ( complete rip off, i spent less than $30 round trip). My Father and I borrowed my uncle's car and drove down there ourselves to pick up the keys. A rep named NICK told us to have a seat b.c they needed to see how much they needed to charge me to make copies of the spare keys. These people had us sitting there for OVER 2 HOURS in the middle of a tropical rainstorm b.c supposedly the locksmith wasn't getting back to them. At one point NICK told me that the key alone would cost me 'at least' $125-$150, and the beeper another $50. Frustrated and finding this odd, I took it upon MYSELF to walk outside and contact the nearest Kia dealership who put me in touch with the local locksmith, "Valanzuela". He confirmed that he makes the copies for Charlie Car Rental and gave me an estimate of less than $100 (because we already had the spare key and beeper all he would need to do was make a copies). He even told me that he wasn't busy and ready for me to come on by! Keep in mind that obtaining this info took me LESS THAN 5 MINUTES, but these people were acting like I was the first person in history to lose a key! When I came back inside with this info, NICK (looking quite surprised) said he would need to verify this info with the manager CLAYTON-who by the way at NO POINT BOTHERED TO COME OUT OF HIS OFFICE in the OVER 2 HOURS we spent sitting there. In less than 1 minute, NICK comes out and confirms that they will charge me $111. I began to ask him how is it that I got an answer in 5 minutes, but they were giving me the run around for over 2 hours?! HE COMPLETELY IGNORES ME and starts calling other customers to the counter! I was fully prepared to take responsibility for the lost key, but I wasn't prepared to be RIPPED OFF! To top things off, I was supposed to be reimbursed $407 (because I returned the car early), and it took over 3 weeks to get my money back, and that's only b.c I filed a dispute with Visa. Charlie car rental claimed they accidentally refunded my Father's credit card (b.c he paid for the spare key so they had his info on file) and they would need to charge him first before giving me my money. We contacted my Father's credit card NUMEROUS TIMES and there was no refund to his card or my account! My Father's card was a Master Card, My refund receipt has the last 4 digits of his card, but it says VISA--so who knows if they refunded some random person's card...? I called numerous times, spoken with different people-at the end, I just let Visa handle it, I was DONE with this company! This was my first and LAST time renting from Charlie Car Rental, I intend on writing to the owner of this company with this experience! Pay the extra few dollars to rent from Hertz or Avis!

I am writing today to complain of my negative experience and poor customer service I received from Charlie
Car Rental staff on June 31.

I am not from the Metro area and I got lost while trying to return my car. I called Charlie Car Rental for driving instructions. I explained to the representative who answered the phone that I needed help because my plane will depart
in an hour, but I did not get the assistance I needed.

In order to return the rental car and get to the plane on time, I had to stop a taxi for assistance. The taxi drove me to the Car Rental and then, to the airport. When I arrived to the business, four gentlemen were talking, there were no customers in the office, just chatting, very relaxed. When I asked them why no one stayed on the phone to help me, they were defensive and unprofessional. I asked the staff members to call the administrator to complain about the issue. And, to my surprise the administrator was disrespectful and unprofessional. I told him that he will lose my business and my family’s business due the lack of customer service. He said they were in business for 25 years and they do not need our business. What a surprise. A business that does not need customers. A business who does not provide good customer service. A disrespectful man in front of a business who doesn’t care about their customers. That was an inappropriate statement who show lack of customer service.

Charlie Car Rental offers poor customer service and unprofessional staff. I would not repeat my business with Charlie Car Rental and I will let my family and friends know about this negative experience with them.
