*Rockland Chrysler would not see my broken down vehicle until earliest appointment which they claim was 1 month from the time I requested service. How can this be?
Either way, we contacted Chrysler of Paramus on Route 4. I drove 30 minutes to dealership in which they prepared me for a potential $300 Diagnostic fee in the event we could or could not find the problem. My car had been consistently dying even after I had jumped the vehicle and changed the battery. Of course there was 1 stipulation which was if I chose to have the work done (assuming there was work to be done) by the dealership, then they would roll over the Diagnostic fee into the cost of the repair.
When I received a call from the representative 36 hours later, I was told there were 3 parts that needed fixing but none can be done without my approval because I do have an extended warranty on my vehicle and all findings were going to be sent to the warranty company to see what, if any was covered. After dealership deliberation, nothing was covered with the exception of a chime that no longer worked on the vehicle. Chrysler went ahead and performed the correction without my consent and then notified me of the $1986 bill I would incur should I choose to perform the maintenance. When I declined, because I believe a chime and battery replacement would not cost such pricing, Chrysler responded with "If I chose to replace one of the components that were damaged (auxillary battery) the cost would be reduced to roughly $800 before tax and deductible." When I said no, the rep said "we could play with the price and a discount could be offered." I asked why if the company had replaced my chime (which I did not agree to) and my auxillary battery would that not be covered under the initial agreement of work being done by the dealership? They backtracked off their prior statement and said if I do nothing to the vehicle I owe $546 for service, chime (receipt shows $5.35) and deductible ($100). I believe I was lied to, cheated and robbed into paying such an astronomical price for a car that was not even fixed and still not working. My keys were being held and car not released until I paid what they believe was fair offering.
Desired outcome: Please refund an agreed upon portion of the statement. I believe they were highly unethical, scrupulous and very misleading. I felt robbed, taken advantage of and held hostage with no other decision in order to retrieve my car back.
