billing, ft. myers office, gary aspinwall
On January 22, 2018 I had an appointment in your office to have a crown which had come loose examined and hopefully re-cemented. After the dental tech took several x-rays, Dr. Aspinwall cemented the crown back into place. After the procedure was completed he looked at my x-rays and asked if I had any other issues or complaints. I responded by saying I had one tooth with a sharp edge and wondered if he good smooth it off a little, which he did. Dr. Aspinwall then said that one of my crowns looked like it needed some attention, that in his opinion, it would probably crack before too much longer and if I chose to have it repaired it would eliminate the chance of it cracking and me losing the tooth all together.
I asked what the cost would be and the dental assistant asked what kind of crown I wanted? I said the cheapest one, no one can see it anyway! She said she would call and find out if my insurance would cover it and tell me how much my out of pocket would be. Upon returning, she said "great news, it's covered, and your co-pay is 125.00". I said that's great, I'll make an appointment, at which time I learned the office just had a cancellation and you could do it now!
After removing the crown, taking new molds, making a temporary tooth, I paid 195.00, which was my 125.00 deductible and I assume the cost for x-rays and re-cementing the tooth I originally came into the office to get fixed.
About two or three weeks later, the crown was ready to be installed and I returned to have it glued in which was done without any problems. After the tooth was installed, I was asked if I still wanted my teeth cleaned which I had inquired about on my previous visit. I said yes, and I made an appointment on March 16, 2018.
When I came into get my teeth cleaned I was told I needed a deep cleaning and my cost was 120.00, and it wasn't covered by my insurance? plus if I wanted some kind of special irrigation it would be an additional charge….. All I wanted was a normal cleaning, but I agreed to the $120.00 without the irrigation rinse upcharge.
When I was ready to leave the office and pay for the services, your office manager told me I owed additional $315.00, I said for what? She said my insurance didn't cover the crown! I said what! I was told my cost would be $125.00, she said well, I'm sorry, the type of insurance you have didn't cover it. I said, then we have a problem, because I wouldn't have had it done if it wasn't covered. She told me to call my insurance company which I did.
Delta told me my crown was covered, but the crown I chose was a more expensive crown than what is covered under my policy. When I asked if getting my teeth cleaned is covered, they said yes, twice a year and my co-pay is 15.00.
I called your office and left a message with my name and number to discuss this situation, but no one has called me back?
The bottom line is this, I was mis-informed about what my cost would be and now I'm being asked to pay another $315.00. I like Dr. Aspinwall, but let's be real about what really happened here. I've already paid your office a total of $315.00 for 3 procedures (re-cement, crown replacement and cleaning). I want to do the right thing, but I don't know what would be fair. It's in everyone's best interest to get this resolved, but asking me to pay another $315.00 is not the right answer, you need to take responsibility for not providing me with accurate information for which I totally based my expense decisions.
doctor and assistant
Hello. My name is Diana Rodriguez and I used to be a patient at Coast Dental in Land O Lakes Florida (corner of State Road 54 and Collier Parkway). I went in January 2017 to get a filling in my upper right molar. Less than a month later, it cracked so I went back to see if they could fix it for me. It seemed simple enough, but the doctor (Dr. Roberts) said he couldn't fix it and could only put in a crown instead. The crown costs more than $700, and the filling costs about $100. When I called the office and spoke to the assistant (Kassie), she agreed with the doctor and would said they could not fix it for me. I had to go to another doctor, pay $71 as a new patient, and be told they could fix the crack in the filling. I also now have a metallic taste on my tongue that won't go away. I am also put in a complaint in with the Florida board of doctors. I am on disability and am not rich by any means. I think they are both unprofessional, gave substandard care, and caused me harm. Please write me back with a response to my complaint. Thank you!
crown - company will not take responsibility for messing up my tooth
In 2014 had a corwn put on the tooth based on oral evaluation, since i had already had a root canal done the practice did not check if it was done properly. in 2015 went for a cleaning to another dentist and was told the crown has a gap. This basically means it was not put on properly. After this went to Coast dental in 2016 for a cleaning and told them there is a gap. Based on their warranty on the tooth asked for a remake. But due to the gap the tooth got brittle and i lost the tooth. Already paid over $1200 after insurance for the same tooth. Now insurance wont cover retreatment of the same tooth and Coast dental will not rectify this mistake nor give me a refund on the money paid for a job not done properly. I asked for my medical records and got hung up on by the area manager. The time it took to complain even making multiple calls took over 6 months to get to a conclusion where i would have to pay $3000 to get an implant on something if was done properly in the first place would not be needed. I feel this dental office does not care about its patience and is only interested in charging you money and give no quality work. The office manager does not communicate and does not care to follow up. I cannot believe that an area manager hangs up on a patient without correcting the problem. I am now out a tooth and maybe even two due to the delay of 6 months and out $4, 000 once implant is done by another dentist.
My request was for a refund not credit to my next visit since i do not trust this practice any more. Or cover the cost of my implant as this was directly relevant to the work performed by their practice.
I had Coastal Dental Fleming Island, Fl put a crown on my tooth. It came off. I called them several times leaving messages about the problem. They would never return my calls. My husband called several times. They never returned his call. I ended up going to another dentist because of the pain. The other dentist called them and spoke to the office manager. They said they would call and take care of it. Never did. The new dentist called about 2 weeks later. Still no response. I called the new dentist and said the pain was really bothering me. She is in the process of replacing the crown. It cost me more money but at least I am getting it fixed. Turns out, the crown was never put on properly, there wasn't enough occlusual clearance so it was doomed to happen and it was their fault. I wasted a lot of time and money. The guy running the office doesn't seem to know what he is doing. Run don't walk away from this place! I feel they ripped me off and wouldn't even call me back! I wish they had negative stars to give.
invoice submitted to collections
Contacted office on 1/19, 1/20 (2x), 2/18. Each time was told it would be researched by "Kasey". Was told it needed to be resubmitted to insurance. Was in office on 5/3 still not resolved. Told same again. Received collection letter on 5/7. Kasey will not do her job! Wanted to speak to regional office manager but was refused phone number.
Advertised $59 ended up paying much more. Sold me Dental insurance, but it isn’t really dental insurance. DECIET, MISLEAD, UNINFORMED. My email address is: stopdentalscams@gmail.com This is what happened to me. I found this place online while searching for an affordable dentist. Their advertisement was “$59 Cleaning, Exam & Digital X-rays, regular value of at least $290.” WOW that’s a great deal right… I made my appointment in no time flat. Once I arrived there they took x-rays of only one side of my mouth. From there I was put into the exam chair where I was instructed to wait for the dentist to come in and evaluate/read my x-rays. The dentist explained that I would need a series of expensive dental procedures done of which he would be able to start treatment that day. The front desk gal then came in and explained to me my total cost would be $3553. But they can sign me up for Dental insurance right then and it would lower my cost to only $2406.. The one time cost for my Dental “Insurance” was only $111. Wow Dental insurance for only $111. and my dentist office can sell it to me… I was in severe pain that day and went ahead and signed up for my dental insurance and started my first treatment. I was not provided any information or discloser about this “Dental Insurance”. At the end of my visit I was given something called “Financial Arrangement” which listed the treatment plan expected treatment and cost along with “DENTAL PLAN ENROL 1”. I was then asked to pay my office visit total for that day which came to $256.. After I paid it they gave me an itemized receipt showing I paid a single x-ray, additional x-ray and photo intra oral cam for a total of $256. They also, gave me a copy of my 2 page “Financial Arrangement”. (3 pages in total) After getting home I realized I had no idea the name of my new Dental Insurance company. About two week later I receive a membership ID card from “my smile dental plan”. On the back of my ID card it says, “DISCOUNT DENTAL PLAN”, in smaller print it says, “THIS IS NOT AN INSURANCE PLAN’, and in even smaller print it says, “Administered by The CDI Group, Inc. At that point I knew something was not right. After doing some research I discovered that CDI Group, Inc. is “Coastal Dental Inc”, they own the company “my smile dental plans”. They are a Dental management organization that provide administrative and management services to dental offices and groups. They have many partner companies including but not limited to, Pacific Dental services, Smile Generation Financial, Heartland Dental, Option One Dental Plan. There website is www.cdidentalplans.com. I took this information to a Class Action Attorney along with hundreds of reviews and complaints about the questionable conduct and practice of these companies nation wide. He has agreed to file a class action case against them on behalf of the consumers. If you are a consumer that has been deceived, mislead or tricked into signing up for any of their services such as, Dental Insurance, Dental Plans, Dental Credit Cards or have been told you need unnecessary expensive dental work by any of these groups. If you would like to join me in a class action against these entities, or know someone that would, please email me at: stopdentalscams@gmail.com

absolute worst experience
This dentist has given me way too many problems, I don't even know where to begin. I chipped my front tooth and I went in for my first appointment. Not a friendly face in the building. And the dentist and dental assistant were rude and very rough. They did a very bad job at making and cementing my crown. (They wouldn't numb me after I asked them to, and I was in lots of pain). The crown came off and I scheduled an appointment to have it put back on. I drove all the way there (35 minutes from my house) and as soon as I got there, they called and cancelled on me. I scheduled again and they cancelled on me three different times. They told me to wait. They didn't put my crown back on UNTIL I told them I HAD to come in because they let my tooth get infected, because they wouldn't do their job correctly. Because it took so long to finally get an appointment, the infection killed the root and nerve in my tooth and they're saying they have to do a root canal. They were doing tests on me and told me they were going to numb me. They didn't. And as they were doing tests, they seemed alarmed. I was also alarmed when I looked and saw blood oozing all over his gloves as he quickly tried to get rid of whatever it was he had just done. I had an awful and very frightening experience. I'm never going back. And I suggest the same to you. I also told my insurance company who sent me here. They were very shocked and upset at the experience I've had and they're currently in the process of reporting this dentist.
front tooth veneer
My wife was told she needed her front veneer replaced due to a hairline crack and was told while she was under heavy pain killers that our insurance would cover 50% of cost. My wife paid the difference and the work was done but the veneer color does not match. They refused to correct the problem and now 6 years later I find out that they sent the remainder...

This is beyond the worst dental are provider ever. The first visit they had me in the chair for over six hours for a scheduled visit- and no one communicated or checked in with me, and I had to ask what was going on. I was then told my services were "emergent", and my visit was taking longer than expected. I explained I had an appointment at 6 PM (mind you...

Office receptionists rude generally, but policy is subject of this complaint. This office takes various insurance plans. However, to get an annual cleaning, an exam is first required to determine the level of cleaning needed. If more than the basic cleaning covered by insurance plans is determined to be needed, they refuse to do even the basic annual...

I used to go to these people on a regular basis, but that was nearly 4 years ago when the caring dentist dr. marilyn palacios, was resident and gave fantastic care. This is what happened in march 2015: I moved out of the area for a year then came back. I made an appointment due to a toothache. Now it’s all about the money!!! Unprofessional staff, dirty...

On Mar. 19 2015, Dr. Mariana Bole wants to do filling that (unnecessary) or not there to make more money to please her boss because she is new there.
by telling me my daughter needs filling, I said we just did a new filling 3 weeks ago and the other Dr. said every thing is good no more needed. and then she showed me X-ray from August 2014 that 2 previous Drs saw and said every thing is good. Their teeth cleaning was very poor and aggressive sales tactic of teeth products trying to push hard on you to buy it which is was unnecessary or called for.
I will no Longer go to any office of Coast Dental, I do not Trust them at All with my kids teeth .
fraudulent billing
Billing Problems; William Mathurin at the time Cape Coral office also overcharged the out of network fee on November 6, 2013. Some records indicate he is now at the North Naples "Golden Gate?" office. It was required for me to contact Discover Card Fraud investigation unit to correct the payments made to this in-network provider. As of March 19, 2015...

I had a root canal done by these people. They gave me an estimate of coverage and told me that my part would be $700.00. I paid the amount and after the service I get a letter from the insurance company saying that they denied part of the payment because the dentist did two procedures on the same day that he should have made two separate appointments for...

Avoid this office at all costs. I first visited the Coast Dental Willowbend office for xrays and an initial examination. Prior to any treatment I requested that a treatment plan with any costs not covered by my insurance by given to me. I never received a treatment plan. I was told that I needed to return the following week for a "cleaning", which should have been covered by the insurance. I had this procedure done, which took about an hour, and when it was done I was given a bill for over $200, with about $600 being billed to my insurance for a "root planing and scaling". I was upset at this unexpected expense, but paid and simply decided to go to a different dentist. On Wednesday December 3, I was examined by another dentist, who advised me that no root planing and scaling had been done, or if it was, it was completely ineffective and I would need another one. He took pictures of my mouth which show months of accumulation of plaque, which would have been gone if an actual root planing and scaling had been done. In addition, I was sent a new bill from Coast Dental yesterday for an additional $40 for irrigation, which they say was not covered by insurance. When speaking with the office manager, she states I received a treatment plan (which I did not) and that the root planing was done correctly (which it absolutely was not). I am filing a grievance with my insurance company and listing poor reviews on every site I can find.

phone calls
In the past weeks I been calling to Coast Dental In Pasadena Location, St. Petersburg FL..they never answered the phone calls that I made. After several times I left a message saying that I need a call back in the same day... and they called me 3 days later. This week I been calling and nobody answer as well. They're very irresponsible in that sense. They are focusing on the clients there and ignoring the calls that people make.

Stay away from these people, all they care about is how much money they can get out of the patients
massive fraud
Do not use coast dental! Even though they will accept all insurances. Their billing is fraudulent.
1. They suddenly proposed after 2 years that I needed the "intensive cleaning" procedure for $650
2. After producing a new insurance card, the proposal went to $850. The office mgr said insurance would probably pay about 40%. Even though this is outrageous, I agreed to the cleaning at the office (jan 2014) and had it done. It took 30 minutes and no pain. They claimed they did not need to use as much anesthesia as was proposed so would give me a break on that part of the charge.
3. I paid $500 on day of service (this included a $99 toothbrush and $20 bottle of mouthwash)
4. On april 10, I received a bill from the office for $416!
5. I called and they claimed the eob from my dental insurance incorrectly threw out most of their charges. What? (including dental instructions for $58.00). They claimed they sent in all my xrays and records in order to be paid properly. After 30 minutes of insisting that I owed more money, I asked for their corporate number. They refused to provide it. My eob stated my out of pocket was only $106, by the way. They insisted that I would need to pay them the difference even though I pointed out that I was not required to pay the difference between what they charged and what insurance paid.
6. I called my dental insurance and the rep got them on the phone and now they agreed that I was overcharged by $160. They will keep it on my account. (do they think I want to go through this again?)
7. I asked for a check to be sent to me for the overcharge and was told that it would take "up to 16 weeks". I said that is my money and I expect it right away. They said corporate does not work that fast.
8. Now I am waiting for my refund! I wonder if I will ever see it?!
Never, never use coast dental. It is unethical and will cheat you out of your money!
rude
The people that work here are the rudest people that I have ever met. They called to confirm an appt. with my husband and then promptly cancelled the appt. in their system. So when my husband showed up for his appt. they tried to tell him that he cancelled it. So, i then tried to get his medical records (he has been going there for 3 years) and they said they no longer had them. The girl hung up on me 3 times and kept talking over me when I was just trying to ask a question.
DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!

rude staff
I have decided to move my entire family to another provider, the dentist on staff is a very pleasant and good dentist but the majority of his staff is totally rude especially the hygienist. She can be a very nice person until you challenge her or decline the extra un-necessary products she's trying to sell you. She will then turn into a rude witch. Same thing happened with one of the assistance, which wanted my 16 year old son to get their optional oral cancer light screening. I read that these screenings were not necessary in such young adults so I declined. She also went off on me and got to the point that I was doing a terrible injustice to my son.
The best thing to do is stay away from these corporate setups, where the mighty dollar is the focus.

I was going to try to put this behind me and accept it as another expensive lesson learned but, now that you've sent me to a collection agency and ruin my credit I want to really let you know how I feel about this company and you're staff. I accept full responsibility for letting my teeth get as bad as they were but it is because of dealing with a greedy, scupilist group of people like the ones I dealt with this year that I allowed things to get so bad. I once again gave a group of people the benefit of the doubt and was soooooo wrong. I was given the impression that you cared about your patients and knew what you were doing but I guess I was wrong. I know my insurance and I over billed for my extractions and the sneaky way the assistant got my medical card was an indication that you were not done. I should have known when Dr. Harrison would not see me to give me a consultation on the implants until I was healed that I should have NEVER gone back to her. And then when I finally get her to see me, her assistant gives me this consultation that I was charged $58 for and only gve me partial info on what the TOTAL charge would be to complete the process! I was told by the dentist in the mableton office that the total would be $1800 per tooth..so when I was given the figure $5, 000 for the implants I assumed that was most of my cost to complete the process. I should have known that I don't deal with a lot of people with a conscience so I should have done more research before I allowed them to touch me or bill my insurance. But again I put my trust in people that I shouldn't have and now I am receiving an additional $1700 in billing that was declined by my insurance because the proper procedure was not done to consult them before any work was done on my mouth. When I told the assistant that I had saved $2000 to start the procedure and I wanted to finance the rest, she even suggested that I go out and splurge with that money because I was financed for the $5000+ that I was billed for the implants. She gave me no idea that I was going to be billed an additional $6000 for the crowns. This is an awful way to do business for a hard working person who just wanted to start working on getting my mouth repaired. The fact that all the details were not given to me, the insurance was not contacted and and now I am being sent to collections for the charges that my insurance denied and you already have over $7000 for my services shows me that you are some really crude people with no conscience. I received a call when there was so much confusion on getting the implants that I realize was something else that I was going to be over charged for. I was told you would be willing to work with me due to the insurance denial issue..but since I decided not to let Coastal Dental rip me off anymore I never heard from anyone else. I still am not comfortable with being told that I not only owed the $160 to Orion Laboratory and $116 to Coastal dental for the same biopsy! And you best believe I will get to the bottom of it! You are a bunch of greedy, unprofessional people that are taking the money of innocent. Hard working people and insurance companies and I will be reporting you to the Better Business Bureau about your sloppy practice! everyone I come across including 1 million + sorority sisters, my church family, every employee with my company and my social media family (Facebook, Twitter, Circle, Instagram, etc- and we all know the power of the net) will know that they don't need to EVER do business with a company like Coastal Dental so I hope every penny you got from me and ruining my credit was worth it!
