false advertising on recipe book offer, for the second time!
For the second time, and this time we spent $124 (not the basic $50 needed to qualify for the offer), we are told by the duty manager at Coles, Lake Haven, that the advertised Recipe Book is not available. Furthermore, we have been informed that there were not many books delivered to the store and just to insult us, once again we have been informed that Coles will not take a "raincheck".
This amounts to fraudulent advertising. I will contact people to find out if this is a legal situation or a moral dilemma.
Either way, I can assure you that a copy of this email complaint will be submitted to social media in whatever format I can find anybody who will listen and publish.
complete incompetence
Purchased a SIM card today from North Parramatta Coles for convenience, only to find when I get home (1.5 hours away) that I am UNABLE to activate my SIM because they had not scanned it correctly at the store when I purchased it!
I phoned the store, and was told that I had to come back into the store in order for them to rectify THEIR mistake.
Unacceptable. They then said that if I wanted to fix THEIR mistake over the phone, that I would have to pay for it again! I was EXTREMELY reluctant to do this, however finally relented. I gave them all the barcode details & my payment details etc. And they couldn't even do that! They were unable to process that (my second payment). No explanation why, and not even an apology from this incompetent bunch! I was again told that i had to come back in to the North Parramatta Store.
The uncooperative 'not-my-problem" staff member I spoke to at the North Parramatta Coles was Rose Kim (7.15pm 23/06/17), she "could not remember" and was unable to find her employee number.
I live in Wentworth Falls and work in Parramatta, 1.5 hours away from the North Parramatta Coles.
The level of incompetence, and non existant customer service at North Parramatta Coles truly is incomprehensible!
My receipt number: 2974
Served By: Jay
This matter must be escalated. I am furious at my personal treatment by Coles staff, and the extreme inconvenience caused by Coles staff incompetence.
lamb cutlets
I bought lamb cutlets today as they were a reasonable price. However as soon as I started cooking them I realised they were not lamb, but actually hogget!
They smelled awful and tasted so strong they were in edible! Talk about a waste of money! No one could eat them and we all went hungry. I know what hogget smells and tastes like as I grew up on a farm. Totally unacceptable! If I wanted to buy Hogget I would have ( which would have been probably half the price!) I am demanding some kind of compensation or I will have no hesitation in posting this on every social media available. This is the first time I have ever done anything like this, but the fact that my entire diner party could not eat them due to the strong taste ( not to mention the disgusting smell in my kitchen) is not what I have come to expect from Coles. Please respond ASAP!
coles sea salt and coles whole peppercorn grinders
I have bought these products a couple of times thinking the next one might work.
Every single one has managed to break whilst I am in the middle of grinding Salt or Pepper into a meal resulting in me throwing out multiple meals because they are filled with hundreds of whole peppercorns or chunks of salt.
I'm sick of this happening and think these grinders need to be fixed.
The lids screw off which is fine but the twisty part at the top will fall off randomly.
I've wasted enough money on these and want my money back. It's just ridiculous. I have attached photos.
Self-service checkout machine fault
Date: 22 June 2017 @ 6:20am
Flybuys No. [protected]
I tried to pay for the $3.50 muffins at the self-serve checkout. Put $20 note into the machine but the change didn't come out and the machine keeps showing $3.50 to pay. I refused to buy the muffins and demanded my full money back. I am unable to get my money back and have to leave my details for the store manager to call. Bad customer service, staff can't solve the issue. Staff humiliated me in front of other customers asking whether I really put $20 note into the machine when they could not find the money inside the machine. I have been shopping at St Leonards Coles regularly and have no purpose to cheat money or whatsoever. I missed the bus and came late to work due to this incident.
I demand a full investigation TODAY 22 June 2017 by 11am or I will escalate this incident to ACCC or NSW Fair Trading.

Please advise why you do not stick Queensland blue pumpkin... it's best for mash etc does not go soggy. Have tried Kent n butternut, they are not up to par! It is an Australian pumpkin.
Also your potato variety...I find does not give a creamy mash!
Your lemon squeeze oure lemon is nothing compared to the Berri brand.
My mum shops at katoomba, while u shop at Bondi Junction NSW
customer service
Hi i've been shop at coles so many years and I had a great experience with the customer service but today 20/6/17 tuesday around 2pm we went to coles at south lakes and we getting bad customer service from supervisor names mark, because he didnt say any greetings to us when we go to his checkout and even he put the red meat with our choclate and the lollies, after we paid he didnt even say thank you or anything to us, he looks seems doesnt care.. So dissapointed
Ill not coming back to that store anymore..
service
Sunday 18th of june I went to the coles beenleigh to get a few things my 2 sons 10 and 5 were running around being silly as a result my 5 year old split his head open on one of the shelves. There was blood everywhere I had to grab my baby blanket to hold his blood head and grab wipes to wipe the floor.
I had no staff from there to help me with tissue or cleaning up my other 3 kids were standing asking people for help no one came now im angry about the lack of stuff who never came to my help yes my child was silly but a staff member should have given us a hand to help with the mess I did the right thing and cleaned the floor
I then went to the checkout and told the lady what happened all she said was oh well there a medical centre upstairs
Which I went up there to find it was closed as it was sunday
Im very disappointed at beenleigh coles as I love shopping there but I dont know if ill take my business there again
Thankyou
garlic butter
I went into a coles at mt ommaney QLD I was walking around for 15 mins trying to find garlic butter. I finally ask one of the staff they could not find it they go and find someone else and that person says that garlic butter has been deleted from their system and they will no longer stock it.
Seriously Coles? Everyone needs garlic butter.
I guess I will be shopping at woollies from now on.
Poor Didums. Its not too hard to make your own :)
boneless chicken 3 cheese & bacon stuffing
Hi Guys, I want you to know that I'm a loyal customer for Coles and have never had a complaint in the past about your produce. I'm 40 years old and live in Tasmania. I brought your boneless chicken with 3 cheeses and bacon stuffing costing $15 for a meal with my family of 4 from your store in eastlands in Hobart. We adheared closely to the instructions on the back of the packet on how to cook. Once we took it out of the oven and carved it up the cheese on the inside curdled and there seemed to be hard bits in the stuffing. Unfortunately we were unable to eat it. Can you please reimburse us for our loss.
Regards,
Ben.
bakery
I went shopping at your coles cannon hill store in brisbane. I am appalled that your so called fresh products especially bun has dates on them and not cleared each and every day. I am a bakery manager and if that is the quality of your product let alone customer service is disgusting. I purchased homestyle cream buns and homestyle iced finger buns 1 dated 21/06/17 and the other 20/06/17. Really fresh I do not think so. These products were not made today also 3 weeks running tried to get custard tarts at 9.30 am they said will not be available for few hours well I am unhappy with your fresh policy.
foreign object found in coles branded dates
I was eating the Coles Branded Pitted Dates 500g bag. Whilst Packed here the Dates are from IRAN!
Product Bar Code: [protected]
I bit down on a date and there was a rock a piece of shale to be exact in the date. Now I have encountered stones before and I thought at first it was, however upon further investigation I discovered that this was no stone. No _ It was a small sharp piece of shale like a piece you would find in a road base. It caused immediate pain and bleeding- it has damaged a tooth which I have to go to the dentist now to repair and I hate to think what a trip to the dentist will cost me all because of some bloody imported Dates from IRAN!
I read the dissatisfaction statement and thought no the staff at the local COLES have nothing to go with this I am formally requesting a product Audit of the entire Management system structure and to see why this quality standard has failed. I am learning to become a Food Technologist and I understand food legislation and laws and as a customer I know that a simple refund is not going to satisfy when this is a public health and safety risk. Coles I expect a phone call and a through investigation
Stop importing products for 1 Australian produce is superior and our food regulations would never ever permit this
bread/not available anymore
wanting to say how disappointed I am that Coles has pulled country life rye 900g reduced wheat bread. bar code:9 [protected] off the shelf without any warning. I have been unable to buy any for 2 weeks. I have contacted fielders and they assured me they are still producing it. I feel Coles has not been loyal to myself and many others that I know rely on this product. I urge Coles to supply this product again.
half price specials
i love shopping at coles but my biggest complaint is every time you have half price wine on every store i go into has sold out.surely stores can order more stock and by the time the delivery comes in special is over.it has happened quite a few times now. stores do offer raincheck but i dont want it a week later im buying for now.i am in canberra region.thank you
I am complaining about the shop floor being cleaned by an operator using an extremely noisy machine. This was at 10.30 am this morning.
The noise was unbearable and could be heard around the whole store making it an uncomfortable shopping experience. Glad to get out of the shop. The operator did not have any ear protection from the noise. Spoke to the Manager, Michael, who was very off-handed about the matter and I asked him about protecting the employees ears, he said it was not loud enough, not high enough decibels, to warrant hearing protection. I also wonder about the safety aspect to customers by Coles cleaning floors with a big mechanical cleaner during operating hours. Duty of care.
indian chicken tikka masala 350g
There was no chicken in it. Please look at the picture of the product on the label. There are 7 chunky pieces of chicken pictured. This was the most expensive $5 I have ever purchased. Disgraceful and the worst misrepresentation of a product I have ever experience. I am so annoyed I have never complained about a product before but this is far beyond acceptable. This product needs to be taken off the shelf immediately or relabeled to reflect what is inside the package. The Ingredients label states this product is 57% Chicken Tikka Masala and 43% Rice. Of the Chicken Tikka Masala, it states that chicken is 46% (53% marinated chicken x 87% chicken). So 24.38% of every mouthful is Chicken (57% x 46%). Well, I can categorically state I tasted, felt and saw not one shred of chicken. Not one.
I could go on for a long time... but how can your product development people sleep at night knowing that they have falsely put something on the shelves that families are paying hard earned money for just to rip them off.
rounding up on small debit card transactions
I was in your Laurieton store on Sunday evening and I used both cash and debit card as I didn't have a lot of money in my account and the amount of the purchase was 46.26 so I decided to pay in both cash and debit card I handed over cash of $25 dollars and I was going to put the balance on debit card. I was then told you would be rounding up my debit card by 74 cents to the nearest dollar WHY?
huawei phone/ optus phone.
I was in your Helensvale at Westfield, the woman behind the counter had given me the phone I told her I didn't want. So I paid my money for a phone the woman then asked me if I wanted receipt, I told her not to worry I seen her throw it in the bin. I walked approx ten meters to the cafe near your store and got my new phone out and it was the Huawei phone I couldn't believe it. I walked back to the counter and the woman said your store had a no change or return policy, this is the same woman that sold it to me 30 seconds ago. It was still in original packing un broken. Then she proceeded to ask for receipt and told her she just threw it in the bin. I told her she just threw it in the bin and I needed one. She then called manner a rather chubby gay guy and he then proceeded to tell me that the store policy wouldn't allow it. I was a bit agitated buy this stage and loud as u could understand that this woman agreeded after I took the phone back that I didn't originally want this phone and had the ordacidy to tell me she wouldn't swap it. Well to cut a long story short I was banned from the store never able to return and escorted out of the center with security guards. I smashed the 115.00 odd dollars on the road in anger I couldn't believe this was happening to me. That manneger took her side, talk about set up. That's disrespectful not to mention degrading and embarrassing. They ort to be ashamed of there rude and false aligations. Your store has lost my business and anyone I knows business not for the stores fault but those two rude employees that work there.
I want a new phone and appoligy thank you.
service
This is my second complaint, had no reply to first last week.
Hi,
I shop often at Coles Westfield at Airport West.
This week & last, the stand that takes recycling bags was overflowing.
There were bags on floor & up top on shelf.
This look is not appealing when you walk into store, it looks like a rubbish dump.
Can you please have this emptied often, thanks.
customer service
I done my grocery shopping at Coles Nowra on Tuesday the 6th on June at approx 4pm I went through the checkout and was rudely served by a lady named Stephanie. She didn't greet me at all, she just scanned my groceries and put them in the bags very roughly. My daughter was trying to help and I tried to start a conversation by saying would you like a child jokingly and she abruptly said no and that was it. the only time she spoke to me was to tell me the price of my groceries! I walked out of that store in a bad mood and not wanting to return ever again. I seen the man that was behind me in the check out and he looked to be in a worst mood than when in the check out line too. I spoke to him and he agreed that she was way too rude to be working in customer service. My 7 year old daughter also mentioned how unfriendly this lady was and she was very rude without me even saying anything at all to her. I just felt I needed to tell you my experience as it wasn't great. And I feel you will lose customers if this is how you are treated.
We all have bad days, do you know what its like standing on your feet all day for minimal wages and earning less than you did last year, I think you have a right to be unhappy
