I was going to make a lovely salad for lunch after buying some vegies down at Coles, Springwood. i only got to the first step! The lettuce, before i was completely turned off from food and nearly vomited. There was not one, but quite a few squished worms in my salad, on the lettuce. Now, i prefer Coles over woolworths anyday, but i dont know what to think right now, im disgusted...
i have photographic evidence, but as it is on my phone i cannot produce it with the complaint.

lack of service
I usually shop at Coles in Gympie but the lack of open registers is getting out of control. Every Friday night there is only 1 checkout open and I open for customers with small amounts. So when you have a shopping trolley with a lot of groceries you can either stand in a line and wait for the 1 checkout to attend to the other numerous customers in front on you or you can use the self serve checkouts, which is fine if you only have a few items as there is nowhere to put your bags after you have scanned through some of your groceries. I just don't understand, do you want our business or not. Its not like you have lowered your prices because of the savings you are making by not having staff. Think I might start going elsewhere, somewhere that wants my business and not just my money.

Get over it. People like you are so impatient. Coles has a budget to stick too

staff
I was banned for life from benalla coles because I complained about the overall attidue of the staff and their management.their responce?it was my attidue towards them or better still my overall personality. That got me banned.the store is very cliquey with the mothers of the local primary school being the bulk of the staff.then at the benalla bowls club they were talking about me and mentioning my name address and my appearance.I happern ti have been there but they wouldn't have recongnised me as I was wearing a wig at the time as it appears I've been mistaken for someone else who once lived in the town.I also understand there is a large gay population here so I've been labelled gay a dog a slut a lesbian that im up myself.look who's talking coles benalla is the most frigid store I've ever been in.I once worked for coles and was accused of stealing.I was threatened with sexual assault to make me admit to stealing.tjats was thirty years ago.im now on tjr disability pension thanks to coled

Some people are borne complainant but i would suggest Coles Employees needs Skills Upgrading and for all those comments anyway - Are they caused of Coles Staff mismanagement?

I have been to Coles at Yamba 3 time to buy the advertised hot chickens
at $8.00 each. Each time they don't have any was told yesterday that the suppliers can not supply the amount they need.. not good enough
I buy your brand lemon sherbert lollies I bought some a week ago 200g packet bought same lollies yesterday different packet same lollies and only 130g but same price as 200g packet don't you think that is a bit of a ripoff.
It's second time I am paid short after I submitted 100 $ and shipped for 12.90... I was supposed to get back 87.10 back... But I was returned only 77.10... This is second time it has happened... Earlier to 10 $ was paid short... But I kept quite... To my astonishment again this is repeated yesterday.. I request the authorities to warn the staff at cash counters to stop such tactics of cheating...
I am attaching my receipt...
Very rude attitude by the lady staff...closed the counter even though people were seen using machine. Lack of appropriate manners to direct customers towards the payment counter.
Upskill your staff including Michael in customer service or take him off the Surry Hills self-service checkout.
He’s rude and hopeless. Twiced he was also passively aggressive to us.
As a manager of staff, I appreciate feedback. I would assume Coles does also.
coles weetbix should have all salt taken out

prices different at different stores
Recently went to coles mclaren vale they had bananas for $1.99kg but went to the coles store at Christies beach and the bananas were $4.40kg now mclaren vale coles has a small fruit & veg shop near it so I think they are trying to undercut a very small family owned business and think this is shamefull! The coles at Christies beach does not have a fruit & veg shop in that centre! Why would they want to make it even harder for someone to try and make a living! Very in Australian! Will not give them my money agsin

I have been a consistent customer of Coles and Coles express for many many years but you have lost me now. The price of your petrol at the moment is 13 cents a litre dearer than others in the area and this does include your 4 cents with a voucher. Your pricing has been like this for a long time now and I have ceased to use your services. I do not understand your strategy. All my family and friends are of the same resolve and will not use your services until you are competitive again.
I have shopped at Coles for a number of years now and on most occasions check out staff will go out of their way to harass customers. Where does trust begin and end? Not at Coles that is for sure...
Chicken drumsticks bought from coles, roasted them, my whole family got sick. My 2.5 year old son, daughter 5 years, husband and I, got very sick. Vomiting, diaharria and whole body ache. very mad...we have not recovered yet. This happened just a few days ago on saturday. Today is Wednesday...still not good...19/feb/2014
Every place of business in the world has different prices on certain items in their own stores. It is called SUPPLY and DEMAND, DIVISIONAL, REGIONAL, MERCHANDISING etc.
pricing
My complaint is the pricing on a particular tobacco product being that it is priced at $4.15 dearer than woolworths & the local iga. Jps ryo red 25gram $19.90 at coles as compared to $15.75 at the other stores. When I approached the floor manager to query the pricing, she was not interested in the least and simply stated that I should go online and make a complaint. Thank-you for that coles... Very helpful.

shelves empty
The shelves in Coles Cambridge gardens are never stocked. I shop there everyday and everyday they always don't have something I'm there for. I have literally been ther 5 times for chicken breast and there wasn't one tray on the shelf, so I went and asked and every time they go and get me some from out the back. Why can't they stock the shelves? They never have pumpkin and the same thing I had to go and ask and they went and got it and there were several people asking for some to. And instead of stocking the shelf they asked us how many we wanted rather than stock the whole shelf for other people. It must be costing Coles money because if people don't ask then they don't buy it if it's not there so they lose money. Tonight I went there for baby formula and there was none on the shelf, so I asked and she went and looked out the back and said they don't have any. What the hell how can they have no baby formula in the whole place? I was disgusted. It is convenient for me to go there as its 2 minutes from my home but I will definitely not be going back there they never have what I want and I have to ask for something every time I go in there and it's inconvenient for me as I have a 10 mth old son and is usually unhappy in the shops and I have to wait around for someone to go and look for what I want. It's disgusting that place needs people in there that are actually willing to work theres always trolleys in the isles but nobody is ever unpacking them they just sit ther in the way of all the food that is actually on the shelf. If they see the products getting low they should be re-stocked straight away, and they should stock the shelves later at night when it's quiet not early afternoon when it's busy and people are doing there shopping and all the isles are block with trolleys full of food with nobody unpacking it. I am furious! Someone needs to run that place that actually knows what there doing!

misleading australia's youth
I've just recieved an email, after having entered all my receipt details for the 1 Direction tickets competition, that I need to activate my account before beginning.
right, so is this the joke? I buy their products, enter their competition with their receipts, and NOW they're goning send me an email saying that I need to ACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT BEFORE I CAN ENTER THIS COMPETITION!
Not only that, but they have the nerve to send me a link that doesn't even work. How is it that COLES manipulated their website to accept receipt details from accounts that aren't yet activated?
Did Coles even BUY ANY 1D TICKETS?! Or was that just a prompt to get people to buy from them, with the false belief that their entries were actually made through an 'ACTIVATED' account? Have they sent this email to EVERYONE who was STUPID ENOUGH to believe that this WHOLE thing wasn't just a cash-snatching SCAM?!
I live in Mt Eliza. We don't even HAVE a Coles in Mt Eliza. As a student-with no access to transport- I caught the bus to go into FRANKSTON just to do the grocery shopping. I made my Mum drive me to Mornington after school so I could buy from Coles. Hell, I even made a group of my friends buy our movie snacks from Coles instead of the cinema when we went out.
All my efforts and hopes, I tried and tried to make every food purchase from Coles. I endeavored to apply my limited technology knowledge into following your "simple" instructions to set up an account. Devotingly, I hunched over the computer many a time, struggling desperately to enter receipt details after receipt details (often unsuccessful, or losing my receipt before I could enter the details into my Coles account), with that motivating hope fluttering inside me that told me, "you know, there's actually a chance you could win a ticket. One day, your Mum won't roll her eyes at you for making her drive you to another suburb to do the groceries. One day, your friends will be shocked that the 20 minute walk to Coles was worth it, instead of just buying food at the cinema. And one day, I will be so thankful that I braved public humiliation by catching the bus IN MY SCHOOL UNIFORM to do the groceries in Frankston after school.
It's easy to deceive kids, to give them false hope, and exploit their hopes, free time, and money. Kids like me just hope we can get through our childhood believing in luck, opportunity, and fairness. But here's another ice bucket of reality-there is nothing worth getting for free. Anything too good to be true is actually NOT TRUE.
Whoever you are, I completely agree with you.
I received a similar email two days ago.
It's just appalling, really. I'm surprised Coles is able to "misguide" consumers with misleading advertisement, allowing people to be buying their products without knowing that their account hasn't been "activated"
racial discrimination and rude staff
I live in braybrook, victoria since 2008. I am experiencing some sort of racial discrimination when I go to coles supermarket, central west plaza, west Footscray every time. the staff they never greet when we go to customer service, specially the lady manager, she is rude as well. I am an indian origin. Coles is such a big company, we should not expect such from their staff specially in this multicultural area of Melbourne. shame on the staff.

products
i have complained on numerous occasions to coles 4496 and even to the head office in brisbane. about sour milk in there parmalat iced coffee range, salami going off the next day after it was bought in there deli, eggs that always seem to have one to two stuck to the egg carton coles brand, coles brand frozen pies that the bases fall to bits when heated up in the oven, fruit and vegies that last two days in the fridge then go off.i have complained to coles on facebook to shame them into correcting these issues.but was met with the sarcasm i am used to of lower management in coles stores. i have even threatened to stop shopping there and actualy followed through with this threat.my wife stupedly sent a friend into this store to get some shopping where he got a chicken bar code number, [protected] receipt no.9417 dated today the tenth of october, through register 3 kerry 339.time 17:52 store 4496.now my wife was a manager of a chicken delicatessen called the chicken deli, lucky she had been as she always checks the meat inside the chicken to make sure it is cooked.the coles family chicken $10 special she bought was half raw, so word of warning coles.i cant control if my wife and child buy something from coles on impulse, but!if one of them gets ill through colese lack of interest in fixing these many issues i will sue coles for every cent i can get out of them.

The quality of your Australian cheddar 24 slices, is shocking to put it mildly, it is sliced to make it more user friendly I would imagine, However it is practically impossible to separate the slices, And you basically end up with a block of cheese which is stale after a few days, This is not the first pack of this cheese I have encountered, but I can assure you it will be the last, as I will never be buying the product again, and will be telling friends likewise
My daughter bought this product last night at Coles and was quite shocked when she nearly swallowed a very sharp bone which was in this 'boneless' product.
This was not a cheap product and even though the bone was quite small it could have caused serious problem if it had been swallowed.. particularly by a child etc. She took photos and they are attached along with picture of the receipt and the packaging including barcode... and the bone fragment!
I have said this a bazillion times. CHICKENS HAVE BONES. Boneless does not mean that the odds of a bone fragment will be extinct. It means they will do their darndest to get them all. Anything you eat that is boneless might still have a stray bone. There is absolutely no way to prevent that.
I purchased two boxes of Dorsett Granola from Beaudesert QLD store. The Simply Oa Granola has sunflower oil as the third ingredient. The oil is very rancid in the cereal and stinks. When I called the Coles Beaudesert store Inwas put on hold then hung up on. I teach Biology so know what is particular odour means. Heat and age produce that smell of rancid oil unless they used old cheap oil to begin with. Product made in the UK.
I bought some Australian barramundi on 16 April 2016. It said very clearly it was Australian. I cooked it and my husband had a severe asthma attack after eating it. Where do you get this fish from Coles? What additives are there in it? I asked you that last year and there were no reply to my Complaint and this is STILL happening...
Every time I use this product I break out in coughing fits some which last for days. I would like know the chemical make up of this product as I don't have this reaction to other stain removers. I believe there is something triggering respiratory problems
bar code - [protected] purchased from Church st Richmond store.
I bought these potatoes at Coles in Drouin. They were rotten and undetectable, as can be clearly shown in photo supplied.

security cameras not working
On Monday 7th oct 2013 I entered Coles in mirrabooka and was browsing at a stand and I looked up, a middle age white, big man was looking at me as he stood behind my stroller. I found it strange, the way he looked at me. I then looked away and when I looked up and at my stroller u noticed the stiller bag had been opened and my purse was taken. The young girl at the checkout saw him and a lady run off. Straight away the security came but no one was running after them. The manager of Coles came and apologized, also telling me the store cameras located at the front of store near checkouts were not working! That is a joke! Apart from me having my purse stolen with $200 cash gone to thieving criminals, the staff at checkout are putting their life at risk and there's no cameras to help if they have a gun held to their head! When I said this to the store manager Matt, he told me there was nothing he can do. Are you serious! Those cameras should be working at all times! This is negligence! They should not have staff nor customers in their store if cameras are not going to do what their suppose to do!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
"there's no cameras to help if they have a gun held to their head" Now that's funny! How in the world can a camera protect someone with a gun to their head? Yeah, next time I am in peril, I'll look for a camera to help me.
racial discrimination
Coles, despite being such a successful, billion-dollar company that hires many ethnic staff, is not immune from racism. I was deliberating between 2 products at Coles today and spent a bit of time reading the labels before I finally purchased one. At the exit, 2 security guards seized my bags and started searching them for a good 10 minutes, checking and re-checking as if though I had stolen something. I was completely confused considering others simply received a cursory glance before being allowed to exit. When the guards finally (reluctantly) gave up on trying to convict me of something I didn't do, one of them tried to tell me I was acting suspiciously. As a customer, I believe I have the right to be well-informed of what I do buy with my hard-earned money. The only difference between myself and the others leaving the store was the colour of my skin. It wasn't as if though it was a judgement based on something else like a shabby appearance- I'd hardly think a homeless person would be dressed in a blazer and pants to go grocery shopping. Why should I have to face racial stereotyping and be subject to humiliation like that, especially in a multicultural, seemingly progressive country like Australia? I am deeply disappointed in such blatant bigotry and refuse to remain silent about this.

I was in Coles in West field Shopping Centre just few minites ago, and I paid $ 3.95 by a machine one small box of Magi Chicken 2 minute Noodles, I only have $ 5.00, my balance was $1.05. Before the occurrence I had bought two items and at the time I had only had $5 and the two items in total was $5.75. I returned of the items to lessen the cost of the item and the lady who told me to pay for the item after had only witnessed the buying of the two items and after I returned the item she was not there to witness that and the second transaction. The machine after asked me for receipt and I pressed the no option therefore resulting in no receipt. After this I had walked out of Coles and the staff member chased me and told me to pay for the item. I told her that I had already bought for the item but she was negligent and did not listen to me even the Security man scare to me. I'm a black African and I do think this a form of discrimination and will not stay quiet as I will Never in my life have I stole and I'm the age of 60, s disgusted and fairly angry at the customer service.
.I was in Coles at the self serve with my daughter, she had a case of coke on top of the trolley, she put the numbers of the bar code into the machine and kept on scanning her food. I saw one of the ladies, who I found out on later on is a 2nd in charge manageress approach the young girl who was working in that section and told her to come down and watch us.The girl asked us was the coke with my daughters shopping or my shopping. My daughter said it was with her shopping and asked her did she want to see the receipt. She said no. So I started to scan my food, in the meantime the manageress came down with another man and asked us again did we pay for the drinks my daughter said yes do you want to see the receipt. So she pulled the receipt out to show her. So I kept scanning my food, I said to the manageress this is ridiculous I''m in here shopping every day sometimes twice a day and you treat me like this. I left my shopping and walked out disgusted at the way we were treated. I believe she was being racist because I'm Aboriginal,
Monday night, 7pm, one checkout open and a line of customers waiting. All self-serve checkouts closed. Not good enough.
mouldy beans bought today.hurry up aldi west australians are fed up with the two supermarket giants who charge extortionate prices for low quality goods and terrible service.
very rude manager
We have just welcomed our new stand in manager called Leanne. At present this lady has made most of us here at our usually happy environment at Coles a nightmare! I am along with others am ready to quit our jobs it is so uncomfortable to work with her. The customers have also noticed what a rude lady she is and will be taking their money elsewhere. I need counseling lately so I can cope with the stress this lady has put upon all of us here. Everything is so negative from her, no praise ? Just bags you out in front of customers! Do something please!

poor quality
Today i purchased the precooked lamd shanks, their new and i'm a single pensioner and thought 12 buks, 2 spuds 1.80, shouyld be good for that much, well i was disapointed, the shanks had lots of fat and i'm still hungry, i will take back the remains tmorrow, i feel angry i shop at coles alot and feel cheated
yellow globules of fat
I have just bought coles select sausages, buy tw0 for $11. My husband likes them to be cut open so they are crunchy on both sides when fried. It is an eye opener for me with many sausages when I do this. Especially these, on the inside, the small, yellow globules of fat reminded me of a tv show I have seen, on fat reduction surgery. Coles, if this is your finest I wouldnt want to touch your ‘smart buys’ with my enemie’s toungue on the end of an 80 metre stick.

rude customer service
Very Rude Customer Service
I am one of a regular customer for Coles store at Westpoint shopping centre Balck town NSW. I have a two year old son and kids Yoghurt is one of the item in my regular shopping list as my boy likes yoghurt and having one small pack for each day.
Unfortunately the 12 packets Yoghurt that I've bought last time was become curdled when I opened the 8th of the 12pks and only noticed when my boy was spitting out from his mouth after consuming more than half of it even though the expire date still valid for next 20days. Once I saw it, I was a bit worried for my boy's health (diarrhea, etc..) and also concerned for some others kids who might consumed that product. So I decided to drive back to Coles Black town store to report about this faulty product.
There, I've encountered with this very rude front line customer service staff named "Pam".
As I approached to the counter with curdled yoghurt in my hand and explained about the faulty product, then she checked the opened yoghurt box and quickly replied as "I am not aware of any complaint". When I showed the receipt detail with purchased date and other 3 unopened yoghurt boxes then she checked in the computer then replied as this products has been recalled due to same issue and advised she will returned $5 for this faulty product.
So I replied to her that refund is not my main concerned and just only wanted to log a official complaint for this faulty product as my boy has already consumed and would like Coles to aware of this incident officially. But she simply said Coles has nothing to do with this and need to log a complaint to the manufacturer directly. So I explained to her that I am willing to log a complaint to manufacturer if I needed to but like Coles to officially aware of this incident as I bought it from this store but she insists Coles has nothing to do with it. (Can't believed she said that.)
So I requested her to let me see with on duty manager to discuss about this matter but she kept telling me to contact manufacturer and handing over $5 notes to me. After I kept asking to see the store manager for three times then she became upset and shout me "That's it" then banged the $5 note and my original receipt on the counter in front of me and walked away to other side of the counter to grab the phone and called the manager. ( Is she necessary to do that kind of behaviour? That was a most embarrassing moment for me in front of other customers who were waiting just behind me, so rude, shame on you Coles).
A few minutes later, manager came out and filled up the Product complaint Form and sort it out within 10min. Doesn't that lady know the procedure how to handle product complaint? or Is the rudeness her true image? Shame on you "Pam"
bullying and harassment at work
I have worked at a Coles supermarket for almost 4 months now as a checkout operator and loving it. The problem is having to deal with discrimination, victimisation and harrassment mainly from management but also from other staff members as well. There appears to be gossip and rumours going around, but I don't actually know what they're saying about me. I live in Dalby and even though there's a Coles in Dalby I was offered a job in Toowoomba so I took it with a plan to move to Toowoomba, but my plans have changed and I have to stay in Dalby now. I wondered about transferring to Dalby. I shop at Coles in Dalby and while I was there yesterday one of the managers and a staff member started harrassing me saying things like I will never get a transfer there, they don't want me there. I had my young son with me and they were saying things like they feel sorry for my son having me for a mother. I don't know why I'm being treated this way, I don't know what I've done to deserve this. I have now had to leave my employment with Coles because of the way I'm being treated which is sad because I really enjoyed the job itself.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am so disappointed and disgusted with the service I received tonight (9 o'clock).
I had a few items i wanted to buy namely orange mineral water, 1 packet of porterhouse steak, bag of onions and juice.
The self serve was closed and there were 2 people service in the express lane. Mick was just finishing with a customer and I politely asked if he was open to serve me. He grumbled and said no. So I went to the other teller and waited my turn. Lo and behold and lady also with a few items went to Micks register and he served her. I asked him why he did not want to serve me but he proceeded to service the customer. I demanded an aswer and he said because he did. I was lived. I asked him whether it was because of my colour and he said and I quote " now dont start with that !" I said but you are not giving me and answer.
My shopping was already unpacked on the other register. And I asked the cashier to speak to the manager and he told me that Mick how gave me such horrible service was the manager...
My husband and I had to listen to the cashier trying to explain away the managers rudeness.
So we left the shop without our shopping and will not shop at Coles Liydale again until I receive an apology and an acceptable reason for the bad customer service. This might sound unreasonable to you but I love the store and has shopped there for more than 25 years and this is the first time something like this has happened to me.
Training in customer service would be a good start.
Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon
Regards
I feel Coles Supermarkets are ripping the general public of. I wanted a roast of lamb, but the roast's were much to large for my husband and I. So I asked the Butcher to cut in half, I was prepared to buy both half's. The butcher cut the leg for me, but low and behold the cost shot up by $4. I asked him to explain the difference in the cost. His reply was Coles policy. So Coles will not put out smaller roast's for those of us who either live alone or need only to feed two. But have the audacity to charge an extra $1.50 kg to cut a much larger roast in half. My husband and I are both pensioners and every dollar counts. All I can say hurry up Aldi and come to Western Australia. The sad thing is Coles or owned by a West Australian Co.
Coles lilydale has the worst customer service. I went in to purchase some meat and was made to feel intimidated because I placed a product back on the shelf in a different aisle and was followed around by a coles worker like I was some kind of criminal. The guy then approached me when I was in the frozen section of coles and confronted me by saying "have we upset you in anyway"? "We noticed you chucked a product back on the shelf". I was horrified with the amount of attitude the guy have me. I am absolutely appalled. I usually always shop there and have been for the passed 6-8 months. I believe I'll be doing my shopping at Woolworths lilydale from now on. And I will be advising all my friends and family to do the same.
On 30/03/2013 I went into the coles super market @ mountain highway shopping centre at 10.15 pm. I am looking around. Suddenly i have heard a team member called for "Jack". The guy named jack went to the woman they talked about some thing. After that "Jack" came to me and said that few team members were feeling suspicious about you.
I felt insulted and said Its their problem. Then :" Jack" said if any thing goes wrong we have to call security guard".
I said "its your choice". my complaint is how he can decide that I am going to steal some thing and ask me such an idiotic questions. Can any one tell me what are my legal rights and inform me whether I can sue them or not.
thanks
sasi
Coles lemon mineral water we purchase by the carton, the last carton we purchased has a taste like a burnt electric motor.

plastic in my dog food
I'd like to make someone aware of the danger of a massive piece of black plastic hidden in a dog roll, I normally feed my dog coles complete balance premium dog roll as she loves it very much, tonight I cut open a new roll and start cutting some into pieces when I notice a black chuck I then grab it out to my realization that its plastic! This could have harmed my animal and I'd like something dog about it!

abusive staff
I usually shop at Coles Forrest Hill Victoria. Just this week I went into the fresh bread aisle but the shelves were almost completely empty. I noticed the bakery manager was standing just a bit further up and asked her politely if there was going to be a delivery that day as I was going to be in the centre for quite a while and could come back later. Thats when she jumped out of her tree and yelled at me "why don't you shop elsewere" and gave me a fifthy look. Just more digusting behaviour from management, which judging by this thread is not un common at all.

cheese filling was gritty
I purchased the Coles brand French Style Cheesecake 410g net from Coles at West Lakes SA and the cheese filling was like it had been curdled, it was very gritty and had an unpleasant taste. I thawed the cheescake in the fridge straight from the freezer. I was very embarrassed in front of my guests.
I ripped the box so I don't have an expiry date to give you but I have these numbers that were on the other side of the opening - FG62439 N04626 AS13574
It was the first time I purchased this product and it will be the last.
