Con Edison A Delightful Encounter with Con Edison

Dear Readers, I must share with you the delightful encounter I had with Con Edison. It all began on a sunny afternoon when I embarked on a leisurely bike ride through the neighborhood. Little did I know that a bright orange Con Edison traffic cone would become the unexpected star of my day. As I attempted a daring maneuver to go over the cone, my bicycle and I ended up in a comical mid-air somersault, much to the entertainment of passersby. Despite my failed acrobatics, the traffic cone emerged victorious, leaving me with nothing but a bruised ego and a newfound respect for its unwavering presence. It was a memorable experience that highlighted the resilience and steadfastness embodied by Con Edison's very own traffic cone. Date of experience: September 21, 2023

Con Edison Con Edison crazy prices

I am trying to comprehend how a big company as con Edison has the audacity to overcharge customers the way they are every month and year. We are all struggling to make ends meet. They complain about high property taxes but we have the same issues and yet a huge company, a monopoly, that makes billions off all it’s customers doesn’t give a damn about the hard working citizens that have no choice but to pay the outrageous bills they give us and cut food from our tables or not pay other things. How do they think this is right and ethical? No one is ever home. Working all day everyday, the winters have not been terrible but yet I’m paying $700-800 a month. Someone needs to put a stop to this. Funny thing, they overcharge us so they can pay their workers hefty wages and pocket millions for themselves but their employees are usually parked in trucks all over queens sleeping. Great job con Edison

Desired outcome: I want con Ed to stop raising their damn prices!!! Give us a break to breathe. Cut down these prices. I can’t afford it and certainly many New Yorkers are complaining as well. Senior citizens that don’t have much

My supply charges are nothing but delivery charges are insane. Then, they have rate adjustments on the bill and that’s how they continue to screw us. I’m so angry!

Con Edison Gas

We have been calling ConEd to unlock the Gas meter so that the unit can have gas and hot water for normal living condition; but after 3 days of calling and we are still not having any progress or answer from ConEd.

The Gas supply is so essential since there are senior citizen live in who can not sustain cold in room temperature and no hot water situation.

Desired outcome: Turn on the Gas immediately

Con Edison Con ed workers living in cars in front of our house for 5 days

Last week 3 to 4 cars parked in front of 670, 674, 676 and 678 Union St. in Brooklyn and used a dozen orange cones to block parking for their trucks.

They have a few men living in these cars every night. They have been parked in front of these house now for 5 days. Con Ed trucks came one day and did some work and left. They cars stayed and the men are still there with cones in the street. This morning I went outside to sweep, the men are in one of these cars, windows are all black and they have something blocking the windshield so you cannot see inside the car. The curb was filled with urine coming from the car door. It smelled and we hosed it down. I see someone came out of the car just now. What is con ed doing? This is outrageous.

Desired outcome: Get these cars and cones and men away from our property.

Con Edison Electric

I made an online payment to Con Edison on 7/10/23 for $56.40 from Chase that went to an old a/c # [protected] 5 (an account that was closed under the same name. Con Ed could not find the payment after giving them the trace#, transaction ID. The online payment went into their account but cannot locate the payment. ConEd service agents are suggesting other alternatives for me to contact Chase but they cannot help find my payment on their end.

I appreciate anything you can do to resolve this issue.

Desired outcome: Return of payment

Con Edison Meter reading and billing issue

in june 2022 the wires to my store ( commercial bldg) burned and the meter was destroyed. For 1 year thereafter the meter never worked. the landlord tried to get electricians to work with Con Ed and it took about 1 year. Con Ed temporarily ran the electrical wires thru another avenue to get my lights working so I could conduct my retail business.

I paid my bill EVERY MONTH WITH A 16% INCREASE using my actual bills form the year before. I spoke to MS. Robinson and MS. Conde and told them the story. nothing ever got resolved. I also told them to not take the $380 security deposit from my bill as I was a suffering business and couldn't afford to give more money than was out of the normal billing amount.

in April 2023, I closed my business. Con Ed has yet to reconcile my bill not can they explain how they billed me for a non working meter. What reading are they using to bill me? I don't think I owe any money but they insist on billing me $392.82 each month. It has been 15 months and i can't keep calling your 800 # and re explaining this over and over.

I'm hoping someone will get in touch with me in the next 48 hours or I will be forced to take it to small claims cours.

Looking forward to resolving this.

Con Edison Electric bill/ deposit required

ConEd has been pretty much harassing me and the tenants in an attempt to get me to GIVE them $240 as a deposit. Even when tenants were being provided "Covid relief" from their bills, I have paid for the services provided ( gas and electricity). ConED, however, has refused to dismiss their request for a deposit and continue (monthly) to sent termination of service letters. They have now started sending them to the tenants as well ( most recently, today 7/12/23). I have spoken to ConEd on more than on occasion about this "harassment" and have asked them to remove the deposit request from my account and they refuse to do so. As I explained to them, I cannot afford to just give the $240. I pay my bills, including late fees when applied. I do not owe them for services provided.

Thank you for hearing my complaint. Be blessed!

Kirk Barclay

Desired outcome: I would love for the deposit requirement to be removed from my account.

Con Edison Consolidated Edison of New York

I have been having an issue with low voltage in my home since June 5th. Every day since then, I have been in contact with Con Ed in an attempt to resolve this issue and to no avail. I have record of 38 text messages going back and forth from June 5th to now and about 25 phone calls. Please feel free to reference the ticket number BE23026165. It will show the countless phone calls, text and emails that has transpired during this time. I have every last one saved in my phone and therefore I can show proof of these transactions at any point.

The issue is such that a tree in the backyard was cut down recently and after that, the low voltage issue occurred. Three different Con Ed crews have come out and determined that the issue is lies in the area where the tree was as there is now low hanging power lines and in order to fix it, they will need access to the next door neighbors backyard (I have pictures of chunks of wood tangled in the power line).

Next, the last crew that came to my home on June 22nd said that everything in my home was fine and again they would need access to the neighbors backyard. My neighbors and I are all working people and as such are not home during the day. I have since reached out to that neighbor (do not know him personally) and explained what's happening and gave him Con Ed's number along with the ticket number. Per the Neighbor, he called on June 23rd and was told that someone would reach out to him in 2-3 hours (same thing that I’ve been told over and over again). To date, the issue has still not been resolved.

Today, June 27th, at approximately 4:07PM I got word from the neighbor that he is home and Con Ed can access his backyard to fix the power line. I call Con Ed to give them the news and was told that “They will see if they can come out tonight to fix it but cannot guarantee it because it is a two-man job and they will need to find a second person”. Now that they have exactly what is needed to fix the problem, they have come up with some ridiculous excuse not to fix it. It is blatantly obvious at this point that these workers are practicing avoidance.

Next week will literally make one month dealing with this problem. Yesterday (June 26th) when I called Con Ed I was told that my ticket was closed due to full restoration of power. I never spoke with anyone to confirm that I had full power so I don't know how that was determined. However, it is a complete lie! Again, I was placed on hold as the customer service rep spoke to dispatch. I was told that a crew came out yesterday (to the neighbors I guess) but did not get an answer. I highly doubt that and why would they show up and not call since they now have his number? The rep I spoke with today asked me to call the neighbor and see if he's home and then call back. Why do I have to do Con Ed's job when I myself am currently at work?

I know for a fact that If I lived in Brooklyn Heights or Clinton Hill, this issue would've been resolved long ago. At this point, I'm feeling discriminated against based on my neighborhood which is completely unacceptable. I have been more than patient but the low power voltage has been a huge inconvenience in the following ways:

• No hot water (hot water tank is new so no issues with the tank itself)- hot water tank cannot work due to low power

• Cannot shower- due to no hot water, myself, my 3 children, my 2 yr old grandchild, my asthmatic brother are forced to leave home every day to go find places to shower

• Cannot barely cook- due to o hot water, we are forced to spend money that I do not have ordering food so that my children can eat

• Dim lights- some of the lights in my home are barely coming on, we cannot see and/or properly clean up

My kids and I have to deal with this while going to school and work every day, it’s absolutely ridiculous! WE ARE NOT SAVAGES; WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS! This has turned into a complete nightmare as Consolidated Edison has for the past month continued to take me in circles with phone calls, text and emails and has made absolutely zero progress with fixing the damn power lines!

Desired outcome: I need my power to be FULLY restored ASAP.

Con Edison Con Ed fails to remove me from the Energy Affordability Program

In February 2022, I received a letter from Con Ed that I was enrolled in the Energy Affordable Program. I called Con Ed and informed them that I wish to be removed from low income assistance and signed off on a form that they sent to me to confirm my request. I was removed from the low income program for 3 months and then enrolled me again without my consent. I do not understand why I am obligated to repeatedly dispute my bill and constantly remind Con Ed to remove me from this program.

I request that someone from Con Ed call me to resolve this issue, I can be reached at [protected].

Sincerely,

Farzana Baron

Con Edison Project center and customer service reps in project center

Consistently inconsistent across the boroughs. One borough, Queens, insists that the gas authorization be of a form, requiring you to copy and paste. All other boroughs accept the DOB summary form for gas authorization. In this one case MC - 689229, Con Ed has thrown as many roadblocks as it can to prevent gas service to an apartment. They started with needing a load letter, they don't need a load letter for a single apartment where the building has been receiving gas for decades. If they don't know what is going on, then the building is being underserved. We were told by a representative that Queens is doing this because of the gas pipeline being cancelled. I can't think of a better reason to screw-over paying customers, a hissy fit. No other borough in the City of NY does this. The "Yellow Book" doesn't specify any specific form for gas authorization and Queens can't find one. We were told "that's the way it's supposed to be. We can't help it if the other offices do it incorrectly." This nonsense has caused a 3 week process to become 6 or more, while Queens teaches this very important lesson, whatever that may be.

Desired outcome: I think that Queens Con Ed reps should be re-trained in customer service and the board of Con Ed should be fired.

Con Edison Excessive billing for residential property

I have been excessively billed for electricity in a 2 family home that has now amassed a $9000 debt as explained by Con Edison. I have paid by bill every month and paid my level payments as requested. These have continued to increase for heating the house for tenets who are not paying rent. This is robbery and unfair that I am being treated as a commercial building

Desired outcome: Audit of excessive billings and rate review to determine the proper billing and credits applied

Con Edison Downstairs bathroom

Con Edision had a problem in the street regarding their gas pipes which were leaking or being replaced. They needed access to my bathroom which had a Con Edision approved access to all pipes. They broke my new bathroom all the tiles, put pipes in weird spots and told me it was my responsiblity to fix it. They do not take calls to complain or state your case because they just leave you on hold as I have been now for two hours everyday. Con Ed does not answer the phone unless it is to pay and keep you on hold until you either get frustrated and hang up or grow old and die.

Desired outcome: I am a senior citizen and want to be reimbursed for the entire cost to fix the damage they did to my bathroom

Con Edison Con Ed worker with girlfriend in the car

This morning at 7:10 am a con Ed worker siting inside his Mercedes car license plate KVC.3805 (Pennsylvania plates) in front of 1351 Park Ave < New York, NY 10029.

I came outside to walk my dog. I've trained my dog to urinate on the streets and never the sidewalk. As my dog squadded to urinate, a lady in the passenger side opens the door and tells me "Get your dog away from the car you stupid [censored]" i told her she was crazy. the dog is no way near her car and its urinating on the floor. She proceeded to tell ne " you are [censored]ing ugly [censored]; I will punch you in your ugly face" I looked at her like she's crazy and walked away. When I got home around 6pm, the same con ed worker is still in his car with the same lady that cursed at me.

Con ed had been grading in front of the building for weeks and I've never encountered such a individual.

I came back home around 6 pm and the sane car with the same individuals are in the car. As I came out with my dog, the same lady is staring at me.

I hope she doesn't work for Con Ed but the coned worker with the cones on top of his car should have stopped her or even apologize to me for her behavior,

I hope to hear back in this matter and at the very least, but someone else in place to watch over no parking space for Con Ed.

I should not have to fear of walking my dog.

Thank you for your attention on this.

I have pictures of this car if needed,

Leticia Disessa

Desired outcome: please have someone else watch over the no parking in the streets. The ConEd employee should be spoke to in regard to his girlfriend behavior.

Con Edison Con Edison charges to our Rental Apartment in Manhattan

Something is just not right here with these recent charges to our Con Ed bill. We live in a 6 story apr bld, in a three room apartment, with our utility meters down in the basement. Suddenly this past month (Feb) we allegedly used more gas and electricity jumping our charges to double previous months! And this happens during one of the warmest winters in NY history! Also, the billing has been complete erratic for months. The last bill was 17 dollars! With the one before that about 73, and before that 17 again. According to coned we average 65 dollars a month. But the total increase is 100 dollars, and is allegedly based on these reported increases that only amount to less than 20 dollars, what is going on ?:

Electricity 118 electricity use went up by 22.92%, costing an additional $12.57.

Gas 3 Your gas use went up by 50.00%, costing you an additional $5.85.

Professor Gregory Sholette

Desired outcome: 1. Schedule with us an agent to come and check if our meters are working correctly including stove and electricity in our apartment. 2. Make adjustments so our bills are correct and regular each month.

Con Edison Parking spaces (bad practice)

Con Edison often reserves the spots well before performing work in the community. This is a bad practice, as it is unnecessary and harmful to the community. At the moment, Con Edison has "reserved" nearly half of the street taken up near 180 W Houston street right now with absolutely no work being performed. There is a man, with no identification, he is a Con Edison employee or contractor, sitting in his car day and night to harass anyone who tries to take a spot. I will report this to the police as well. I have seen this practice all over Manhattan, particularly in the West Village. Other residents have complained about this practice. This includes elderly residents who are unable to park near their buildings.

Desired outcome: Stop using this practice and remove the parking cones near 180 West Houston.

Con Edison 10 days and con ed still has not turned gas back on despite fixes from contractors

Case #MC-661521/Letter will also be sent to Timothy P. Cawley, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Con Edison and will be scheduling meetings with local news reporters.

Con Ed has not turned on the gas in my home (due to a gas leak on Friday, January 13, 2023. Gas pipes were fixed/replaced on January 16th) for the 10 days ending this coming Sunday, January 22, 2023. We had to find other places to shower. We cannot cook because there is no gas. My family and I are now sick due to the freezing conditions living in the house. We have ultimately decided that we will be meeting with our legal team this weekend to discuss various legal actions and how to escalate this issue that has yet to be resolved.

Copies have already been made on the communications between my contractors, Ed, my wife and I. These documents will be presented to my attorneys for further review and guidance to move forward. My attorneys will be standing by next week and will communicate with me on the latest status.

I am appalled that Con Ed has not been responsive. My wife and I have called and complaint almost every day and waited 15 minutes to half an hour waiting. This issue has been a complete nightmare with Con Ed requesting documents from my licensed contractors after they

submitted various documents leading to a lot of back and forth in the process. As a result, nothing gets done and my family and I are caught in the middle, and Con Ed has already broken our tolerance level.

I have been a loyal Con Ed customer for over 30 years and have never been late with monthly payments. Just when we need Con Edison to help us, we see nothing but repeated requests over and over, leading us to believe that Con Ed representatives are stalling, while my family and I are suffering.

My only request is: Get the task done, turn on the gas in my home before the pipes freeze. It is extremely critical to get this issue done as soon as possible because temperatures will start to decline, and once my water pipes burst (due to no gas/heat), my house will be completely destroyed and uninhabitable. Legal action will be then be fully enforced. How can Con Ed be so irresponsible, callous, and not even care about their loyal customers? How would you like to live with your family in freezing winter without any gas/heat? How would you react if you see a family member getting a serious cold and flu due to freezing temperatures? These freezing conditions are deplorable.

cc: Timothy P. Cawley, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer

Robert Hoglund, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Deneen L. Donnley, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Desired outcome: Con Ed Needs to turn on the gas in my house, otherwise upcoming freezing temperatures will destroy the house due to pipes may burst with leakages throughout the house. We are seeking legal advice and all options are on the table.

Con Edison Bills

I received a bill from the Con Edison recently for November to December 2022.
I don't know how they calculated it, but my bill is wrong. The company charged an outstanding balance, but I never owe them anything. I paid on time, never late.
Therefore, I wanted to hear their explanation, so I called many times, but never successfully. I sent an email 2 weeks ago; they said it will take about a few days to look over. I've been wait but no response, I sent another email today. I will wait a few days more. Their customer service is terrible. Their utility cost is so high since they changed to Smart meter. The Smart meter seems more money I paid than before. I don't know what's going on. I live in a rent home; I don't think I can't be able to live like this. This is a frustrating situation compared to a few years ago.
