unethical behavior
During the early morning hours of March 19, Con Ed was working on a problem next door to me. I live at 61-40 Eliot Ave. The house they were working in front of has a Fresh Pond road address. These workers took it upon themselves to use my garbage can to block access to where they were working. The can was tied off and instead of untieing it, which is easy enough, the rope was cut. After the work was finished, they didn't even have the decency to at least return the can to it's original spot. I am not trying to be petty, nor do I want to get anyone in any trouble, but let me tell you why I am upset. Whoever was responsable showed no respect for private property whatsoever. The least your supervisers can do is instruct their workers not to think they can do what they want at the expense of others. I truly hope this bad behavior never happens again.

My shocking ridiculously high con edison bills for 01/25/2021 and 02/24/2021!
Dear Sir/Madam:
This is a huge mistake and contradicts the emails below dated Mar. 11, 2021, and Mar. 4, 2021, received from Con Edison! Under no circumstances am I using this much energy in my home for Con Edison to project my energy use to be 31% higher this billing period, as stated in their email below dated Mar. 10, 2021. Additionally, I would like to open a dispute with your resolution center regarding my two ridiculously high Con Edison bills for Jan. 25, 2021 (totaling $343.15); and for Feb. 24, 2021 (totaling $354.53). Both of which, although had come as a big surprise to me, I had gone ahead and paid the two bills in full being that I was too preoccupied with work and did not find the time to rightfully dispute this important matter with Con Edison, until now. Please reference copy provided below of my Con Edison bills received and paid for: 12/23/2019; 01/23/2020; 02/24/2020; 03/24/2020; and 04/22/2020, in comparison with the bills received and paid for: 01/25/2021 and 02/24/2021 which, actually, should have been less than last year's and the year before being that less electricity and gas 'was' and 'is still being used' taking into the strictest consideration the TIPS received from Con Edison for saving energy (electricity & gas) which I have been faithfully adhering to and taking very seriously in an effort to save energy and lower my monthly Con Edison bills. I have even taken the initiative of turning off the furnace on very cold nights to save even more energy, even if it meant having to wake up in the cold and in the middle of the night several times to use the restroom. A very big inconvenience, especially for a 65 year old woman, if you ask anyone.
Hence, I am requesting that Con Edison properly address and resolve this issue with my account which I am adamantly disputing, at their earliest convenience, and carefully review and correct as necessary my energy consumption for my small 700 sq. ft. home and the huge discrepancy with my bills for 01/25/2021 and 02/24/2021, which I felt compelled to have to pay although they were ridiculously high for someone who is saving energy and is living on a fixed budget.

Maintenance of metal plates in the street
The metal plates at the intersection of Riverside Drive and West 79th Street maintained by Con Edison because of Con Edison wiring in the hole beneath them are loose and hazardous. The plates make a very loud noise each time cars driving west pass over them. Please repair the plates now. In the past, Con Edison has sent a crew to maintain the plates properly. This should be attended to immediately.
Desired outcome: Repaired metal plates that are quiet when cars pass over them.

I am complaining about a customer service representative experience
It was 02/01, I want to take care of few bill before work. After paying my ConEdison bill using self-service, I decided to stay on the phone to speak to a customer service representative for further assistance. It was around 8:10am when I spoke to Ms. Haynes(ConEdison customer service rep) from the start her tone was not pleasant, I requested a service and she couldn't help when I asked to speak to a supervisor, she became loud, rude and unprofessional. I work in the industry where we value customer service and Mr Haynes service was a terrible one. I hanged up the phone and I called back to speak to another representative/Mr. Williams( he was pleasant and professional). Ms. Haynes your behavior has to change or you shouldn't be in that role.
Desired outcome: A supervisor to address the behavior to Ms. Haynes.
Over measure price
I had accounts ok running 90, 80 monthly with ar condition running all the time and now, even without use the heat, my accounts are coming very high, 340, 480, 233 so, I need an inspection to prove me that it's ok because my measure is smart but isn't working in the smart form of it.
Gas main replacement project broke my water service
Recently ConEd replaced a gas main along my corridor. Ever since the final restoration there was water seeping thru the pavement onto the road. I received a 3 day notice fro. NYC water & sewer requesting we fix the issue because it was our water service. I called and informed the City that ConEd is responsible for and poor workmanship during their work for the city. The man I spoke with wasn't very helpful and extended the 3 day notice to 7 or 14, he was not sure himself. Soon after that the NYC DEP called and explained we have to fix this water service. I spoke to a representative and informed him of the problems with ConEd and City Water. I never followed up thinking the representative from DEP would call back, that's what he said. So now 3 months later they informed my tenants the water will be shut and they will be fixing the leaking service. My partner and co-owner thinks the city will backcharge us any repair costs at a premium and or put a lien on our property. I'd much rather pay a lawyer compared to paying the city. They break MY water service, tell me to fix it & put me thru all this stress and inconvenience during a pandemic.
Billing error
I have been overcharged for gas usage on my September bill by 2 therms; Con Ed calculates the bill by 180 days instead by 30 days due to (COVID-19) and they are not accepting submitted readings, which made Therms conversion factor add extra 2 Therms.
On September bill:

Therm conversion factor x 1.028

I would like Con Ed credit the cost of 2 therms to my account.
For the past two months, my light bill from Conedison has risen. I only have lights, a fridge, and a TV. My bill per month has never risen by $105.65 per month. This is very high and I would like my account which is now $484.46 reduced.
I have been laid off due to Covid-19. I would like someone to please look into this matter.

Frayed wire from pole to house
Lights kept flickering in my house for a long time...was not aware of the problem until someone pointed out to me...had to constantly replace fluorescent and regular light bulbs...I am on a fixed income although I don't have receipts for the bulbs I would like to be reimbursed for all the bulbs I had to replace...9 fluorescent bulbs...12 regular bulbs...your consideration in this matter will be greatly appreciated...Thank you
Switched meter billing
2 family home in Scarsdale, NY - meter numbers are switched on billing. Both apartments have complained to Con Ed for over 4 months via phone calls but Con Ed won't correct the accounts until after on property services are schedule after the Covid Crisis. Both apartments (1 of which is the building owner) agree what the billing should be but Con Ed is still refusing to make this change. WE NEED HELP!
Overcharging electricity bill about 10 years
We had a small dry cleaning store in queens for about 10 years. Con edison just keep over charging us monthly with demand delivery fee. It is like sucking blood out of us. I called many times to con edison stating there is something wrong with the account and we are over payment for the electricity service. For example, the esco electricity supply charge $155.28 and the con edison electricity charge $504.02. Wow, that is crazy. I used over $100 dollars of electricity and the con edison charged me $500 to deliver it. Wow. That is a simple rip off for small business.
Con edison changed my store electricity rate to el9 general large without any notice and as a result, con edison gained its right to charge us $23.8737/kw on demand delivery of 16.7 kw for $398.69

It is Monday at 11 pm and construction is now first being done by a crew on the street outside my building (84th and West End). There was no problem, and if something needed to be repaired, I can't imagine who it couldn't have been done earlier. It is so loud, no one can sleep. My kids have final exams from first semester as well and also can't sleep. This is beyond ridiculous. If repairs are going to start in the middle of the night, an announcement should at least be made in advance so people can plan accordingly.
idiot planning/no heat

Con Edison shut down heat to our Condo to upgrade THEIR infrastructure. This was scheduled from 10PM to 7AM last night. 10AM and still no heat, they said it will be at least another hour before we get heat. Why was this not scheduled for when the weather was not freezing! This is NOT an emergency. It was supposed to happen last week and was rescheduled. I would like the brains making these decision to also share in out fate, no heat OR hot water.

On October 19, 2019 I got a WELCOME letter (plus nice blue brochures) that I'm included into ConEdison_Smart Energy Plan. Very smart judging by the three category rates ConEdison have. Of course, not for the customers, but excellent for increasing their salaries and bonuses. I talk to them, saying I never sign any of their letters. She said I "was chosen" to participate. She also said that my name will be removed, as I was furious. Who is the person who decided I would like to participate into the new donation plan of ConEd?
Today is November 14 and this is my third complain from ConEd. As I mentioned in my second complain to Consumer Affairs, I got my bill from ConEd Smart Energy Plan today. I was supposed to be removed from it on October 19. Strange. I just talk to a lady from ConEd. She said that she cannot removed me from it but someone from this plan will contact me and I'll be removed. I also requested the Smart Energy Bill for the current period of time which I got today to be replaced by a normal one. In summary, ConEdison can choose you against your wish but opting out is hard or might be impossible. My next step is writing to NY City and state officials including Ethical Commision. I believe they must include stars with negative signs on the top of rating. One star is too much.
I hope this Board is able to stop ConEd taking decisions instead of customers. I did not find category ConEd or Energy Companies. You have a lot more. Are complains from ConEd forbidden?
estimated bill for almost a year debited in autopay over 1700 dollars with no solid explanation
I have my bill on auto pay and have been paying my gas and electric regularly with no issue, throughout the years I have seen estimated bills here and there. When I called about my bill being over 1700 and debited from my account I was told that I should have been looking at my bills and noticed they were estimated for almost a year. I asked why my bill was estimated and they said its because my new meter was installed and was not working correctly and needed to be properly programmed. So Estimated bill means no one could come out to properly program my meter for almost a year. Why? they have no idea. No notes in the system for this. I explained there is no way for me to prepare myself for this type of bill nor does it make sense that based on the calculations it averages to almost 170 dollars extra a month on top of what I was already paying. I was then told "well you had a pretty old meter and those are not accurate so that's probably why". I asked have you done a survey in the area with all the meter changes and noticed a hike in charges? I got "most likely they are also experiencing it." I have spoken to a con ed rep with customer service as well as corporate and a supervisor at corporate. All I got as an explanation was that my bill was estimated, look at my bill and meters are being changed out and not enough people to service. So I pay a service fee to con edison each month and pay my bills regulary and they are allowed to improperly service me and charge me when they play catch up and not provide me with any factual reason as to why my bill is as high as it is. This is what major corporations call customer service and value of consumers. We have a big problem on our hands! To all people who have these issues DO NOT TAKE A REPLY AS AN ANSWER SOME PEOPLE CLEARLY CONFUSE THE TWO. IF ITS NOT FACTUAL AND DOESN'T MAKE SENSE GET TO THE ROOT! CON EDISON YOU NEED TO DO BETTER! There are people who are retired or on low incomes, disability etc and god knows how mush things just keep hiking in price, you cannot just charge people when you clearly see a fluctuation this high in a bill.
billing issues around gas service provider

each one showing an Amount due for back or "adjusted " charges from Jan 2018 until June of 2019
When I called a customer service representative explained that the Gas provider I had in place Windstar stopped providing services in my area back in Oct 2018

Months later I am being invoiced by CON Edison for something I was

c) NO NOTICE FOR OVER 6 Months ?
How is this allowed. What I understand is Con Ed billed me for this time frame

I am outreaching regarding case number MC-397860. We received a date to restore electricity and provide us a meter for 7-22-19. That date is too far...we need assistance ASAP - Please..We have been paying hotel/rent since this occurred on 1-19-20. We have been out of our home since January 20th 2019 - please help me..I am elderly and is having great difficulty functioning outside of my home. I called and was told, there is nothing they can do to change the date. . I then called back and was told that the inspection was not done..if that is the case that will be another 2-3 months out of the home ..How can this be? We spoke to a Mr. Morell who told us he can only add us to the wait list in the event there is a cancelation. I find it hard to believe that we have to wait over 1 month for con ed to service us on something as simple as replacing a meter and restoring electricity. Please help me... I need help.
