Sonja *** very helpful during my phone call to get more information about my accounts. I wanted to write an evaluation because she was so efficient + responsive to my questions. Worst banking experience
Worst banking experience. This bank cannot perform accounting 101. Their balancing is always off and readjusting several times throughout the same month for the same date. Not to mention their software system for payments sucks and makes errors each time with payments. You would think this would be priority and fixed to prevent payment errors, however it has not and I go through calling them each month to fix the errors. This has become a full time job with them. Truly can't see how they stay in business.

I visited Credit Union 1 today and was assisted by Chikyra H. As always she was professional and very helpful. While I had several transactions and several questions she never made me feel rushed. Chikrya is always friendly and makes me and all customers to the branch feel like we are her most important customers. I highly recommend this branch and Chikyra for your banking needs.

Yesterday, I met with Tim K at the S Branch office. I've dealt with Tim for a number of years now and have always found him to be extremely helpful to solve any of the financial issues or concerns that I have developed over the years. Tim is always friendly and makes one feel like he is a friend. As I recall, he shocked me the second time I met him, by remembering my name from the first meeting. Tim exudes professionalism and appears to be able to answer any Credit Union 1 question with which I am concerned.

I paid off my Visa credit card (in fact over paid) with Credit Union 1 in July . They refunded my the difference and than in August I received a bill from them for $14.84 and the statement shows it is for a balance transfer plan. I called Credit Union 1 and was transferred to 5 different people. Finally spoke with Andrea and said that I don't believe this is something I owe. I over paid my account incase of extra interest and now your charging me for over paying. They would not waive the fee. This is completely unreasonable and I do not feel as if I owe Credit Union 1 this fee.

The house funded within three weeks, while CU1 was still asking to see more proof of her identity. I believe them to be a xenophobic organization. My wife has lived here for a long time and works as a doctor and has all of her documentation bullet proof. They kept asking us for one more document one more document one more document. Despite employment verification and production of paystubs and tax forms, they were still not satisfied.

I frequently visit various locations and CU1 is the only credit union I'm aware of with multiple branches. This could sway my banking preference, but the standout is the customer service and staff attitude. Ashley B., the former branch manager, has been a significant support for over ten years. Now in a new role, she remains my go-to for issues, like a lost cashier's check. While not solving problems directly, she efficiently connects me to those who can. CU1's size doesn't impede the personal touch Ashley provides, making her feel like a personal banker and friend available at any time.

Struggling to obtain car title as CreditUnion1 fails to confirm lien release to Indiana
I paid off my car loan and now cannot get the title because CreditUnion1 will not notify the State that the lien has been removed. Several phone calls and CreditUnion1 refuses to help in any manner and just says that I need to deal with Indiana. We have moved and no longer live there so I now will have to drive over 12 hours to go back and try to deal with the BMV in person. Three months and I could do this all online if only CreditUnion1 would take a few minutes to ensure that they have Indiana change the lien status. I have another loan with them and dread what happens when I pay that one off. Never have had an issue with them before but now I have a car that I cannot get plates on and must spend more time and money on because CreditUnion1 will not remove their lien.

Not only was he extremely knowledgeable, he was very transparent, informative, easily accessible, personable, and always professional. This was a huge purchase and he was great at informing me the reality of my purchase. I appreciate how patient Theo was with my nervous energy, how he urgently received the answers I needed, in addition to how well he worked with the dealership to close the deal. Because of Theo, I will never sit in the finance office at a dealership and will always work with him on all of my large purchases. Yvonne T is one of the best if not THE BEST! Representatives I've ever encountered! In fact, I don't think there are enough stars here... she deserves 1,000 more! I'm taking time to explain my experiences with her which is something I don't usually do but I was just so overwhelmed by her consistent effort to ensure my purchase of a vehicle was smooth and painless and she was very knowledgeable with her interactions with the dealer. I could clearly see the dealer was trying to get over on me with there pricing and the politics of selling me a vehicle but Yvonne stopped them at every corner with her knowledge and experience! Before my encounter with Yvonne, I was seriously contemplating going with the F *** wondering if I may get more perks being with them but I completely changed my mind and decided to stay with Credit Union 1! This kind of treatment and care given to customers is very rare and literally makes me feel like family so to leave in my opinion after such wonderful service would be like leaving family! Credit Union 1 is a bad credit union to deal with they are very misleading and does not tell the truth at all. I was approved for a personal loan with Credit Union 1 and I signed all of my loan documents for a dollar amount that I was happy to finance and they told me that even though I had signed to agreement for the loan that they could not because the loan amount was not enough for their minimum loan amount. I asked well why would you all have me to signed these documents for this loan if you all wanted me to take a larger dollar amount out for a loan. I asked them to give me something in writing stating that the loan was canceled due to me signing the legal document to have to the loan for the loan amount that I desired and I even drove to the branch in ***. No one wanted to provide me any documents stating the loan was canceled. It took me a week to finally get in touch with a manager in *** to provide me something stating that the loan was canceled. I needed to have something that stated it was canceled because I had signed all the loan documents and they could have came after me for a loan that they did not grant. I tried called the originally loan officer over 6 times and left messages and not call back at all. I had to continue to call the customer service number and send several messages through them to make the manger call me back. The *** branch was not any better because they talk to me very disrespectful and would not provide anything to me about these loan document. This credit union is a bait and switch institution and I would never recommend anyone to do any business with them. Watch this credit union for predatory lending. I would never suggest this place to anyone ever.

I have banked with this Credit Union for over 15yrs
I have banked with this Credit Union for over 15yrs. They under went a system update which caused customers to have no online access for several days. We were everything would be up 10/4. They system was up but not working properly. My mortgage payment was taken from an account which they never were never authorized to access. This caused a slew rejected charges. I was stranded with no gas with no way to pay. I was unable to pay for a dinner I hosted. Then they charged me over draft fees. Credit Union 1 knew they had ongoing issues and did nothing to alert their customers. This is an outrage.

on october 26 i received a fraud alert on my debit card with credit union one. after speaking with customer service it was deemed that i would be sent a new card. After 2 weeks i called and inquired about my card as i still had not received a new debit card. Here it is december 1st , 20221 , in the middle of the holiday season and i have no card. 1 credit union one did not inform me that there was an issue with their card vendor until after 3 weeks , which i only found out because I called . They never notified or sent corrospondense to its member of the delay. This is my major bank account that i use my debit card to make my everyday purchases and pay bills. I have not been able to take care of the business i need to tend to and have been inconvienced heavily. I have been a credit union one member for over 10 years. i have been without a debit card for over a month ...
Things the credit union failed to do for me, a member.
1. When I called to dispute a large charge, I asked if I would be held accountable as I did not want to leave the horrible retreat without this guarantee. The representative assured me I would not be held responsible. However, they have not supported me in this matter. This incident occurred in May .
2. The credit union failed to update my mailing address with their Visa department on numerous occasions, despite my efforts to communicate the dispute. This oversight caused significant delays in the resolution process.
3. When I escalated the issue, a representative sided with the merchant, stating the contract was clear and that my decision to leave was on me. I disagreed with being mistreated by the establishment and felt I should not have to pay for such poor treatment.
4. They refused to acknowledge the initial conversation regarding the retreat fee dispute, where I was told I would not be held responsible.
5. I am still in the dispute process, and a representative promised to call me back about the recorded call and the possibility of crediting me for the interest on the charge. I have not received a callback, and it has been one month.
6. When speaking to the Vice President, I was told, "we don't have your money." Yet, they have the authority to intervene in disputes and have chosen not to. The Vice President was also unresponsive to my phone calls.
7. A staff member who connected me with the Vice President said I could call her for follow-ups. Despite calling her four times and visiting the credit union twice, she has not responded. This leaves me with no other option but to try and reach out to Todd, the CEO, as I am not receiving the service I need. This is unacceptable customer service from start to finish.
I have been a member since the credit union was established in 1996, and I am astounded at how poorly my situation is being handled. This is absolutely not okay! For comparison, I have had almost identical issues with charges on my AMEX, and their resolution process has been exceptional.

Credit Union 1 took two payments of 175.96. For a visa credit card payment. When I told them several times via their online messaging portal that this would Overdraft my account. For a credit card with only a 500.00 dollar limit. I.E. this second payment was not needed. Because a second payment of 175.96 would have paid over the actual limit of the credit card (a visa card from Credit Union 1 with a limit of 500.00 dollars). I also had 27.25 in my account. Plus another 33.87 equaling 61.12 plus the 175.96. Totaling 237.08. Leaving more than enough money for a separate payment of 149.01. But. Because Credit Union 1 took two payments for 175.96. It overdrafted my account. Once my other payment was taken. Credit Union has ignored all of my phone calls and messages pertaining to this issues. Because I've been leaving messages since Monday. Their "new," online system has caused mass confusion. I also am not able to travel to a local branch. Because they are no longer located in Rockford.

I went to branch location today looking into refinancing a auto loan while I was working with the banker she tells me my account was flagged we have had our bank account for a year now in good standing. This was for an account I use to have over 18 years ago and was charged off she reassured me that she get the flag removed since the account was old. I left the bank and went to get groceries and my card was declined I called credit union 1 customer service to find out what was going on and and they told me that they closed my account and I am unable to bank with them to go pick up my money at a branch. This is unbelievable and unprofessional I have automatic debits that are going to be pulling from this account and my payroll check is going to deposited on Friday now I have open a new bank account and try to transfer everything over this is a complete nightmare if they wanted to close my account over an issue 18 years ago at least give me some time to properly get my account transferred not close 10 minutes after I leave.
On February 28, I was pre-approved for a mortgage loan through my bank, Credit Union 1. I was working with the loan officer, Kelly ***. I received the pre-approval letter in writing and proceeded the home purchasing process. It was an FHA loan in the amount of $125,000. I found a property located at 13410 S. Houston Ave, Chicago, IL 60633 and made an offer on April 20. It was accepted for $85,000 with $3000 towards closing costs. I mailed the earnest money in the amount of $500 via check to the realtor and ordered an inspection. The inspection cost $420 and was performed on April 25. On April 28, I spoke with Kelly via phone to update her with the status of the purchase and wanted to get approval for contract. My application needed addition paystubs, which I provided. On May 4, I received a phone call from Kelly indicating that I had not been approved by the lender, Fannie Mae. She explained that it was due to my student loans, where 1% of the total amount counted towards the debt to income ratio. I explained that I am enrolled in the Public Service Forgiveness Program, which substantially lowers my monthly payment. She explained that since the program has to be renewed annually, it cannot be considered for a long-term commitment such as the mortgage loan. I had explained the student loan payment via letter in the pre-approval application so I was confused when I was not approved. I was in the process of negotiating repairs for the property when I received the denial (awaiting letter). I cancelled the contract and did not proceed with purchase, as I could not. If the denial reason holds true, then I will not be able to become a homeowner until the end of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (about 8 years left for most of my loans). Previously, I filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Regulations (IDR) on May 29. For some reason, I did not get the response from Credit Union 1 until August 18 upon inquiry (the response letter was dated June 11) so I did not get opportunity to respond in a timely fashion. I attempted to respond via IDR, but they recommended to contact Credit Union 1 directly. I sent a letter to respond directly to Credit Union 1 on August 20 as I would like another solution to the issue. At the time of the initial complaint, I asked for reconsideration for mortgage loan as I will still pursuing the same property. Credit Union 1 did not approve once again. I had intended on buying the same home, where I paid for an inspection as part of the purchase process for $420, but it is now under contract with another buyer. I would like a refund of the money I paid for the inspection fee as a solution to this matter. I lost monies as a result of this process and would like to file another complaint to recover the loss. The issue with Credit Union 1 mortgage loan pre-approval of the mortgage loan was that I was denied on the same basis that I was approved on (based on student loan information I provided). I outlined this in the letter I send on August 20 and I have not received a response.

I was expecting to have a closing on my refinance loan
I was expecting to have a closing on my refinance loan. I did everything I was asked and prepared and delivered all the documents I was asked and they still hold on to my file citing a non existent compliance clause I actually signed that too and the copy which was sent to my unnecessarily ex wife WAS NOT ACTIVE so she couldn't sign it either and it was non of our fault. I have already lost my money ,time, energy and peace just to get through this process and they could not deliver it in part due to one person deciding to hold the whole thing. There was nothing legally binding them not to do it but they decide to do it anyway. The form in question says the other part may see or sign it I could easily deliver it to be "seen" but there were road blocks all over the place making sure its not succeeding. I begin to think there is profiling happening and I hope that is not the case.

I was sent a predicted escrow shortage analysis in January 2022 for $1280.00, which I had the option to pay in advance or by the new estimated monthly payment. I chose to pay the $1280.00 upfront at my nearest branch as advised by a service representative in January. I was assured my monthly payment would be adjusted on the next statement in February. However, as of 3/4/22, my account has not been updated despite numerous calls to the bank and awaiting a response from management. No one has returned my calls, and my statement still shows an incorrect amount. My member number ends in digits I've withheld, my original payment was $1645, but it still shows the increased amount of $1801, which they have not corrected. Their system incorrectly indicates a past due amount although I've paid all dues. I demand CreditUnion1 to rectify my mortgage details and payments or reimburse my $1280 if I must continue with the new amount of $1801.

In an effort to communicate the dispute the credit union failed to adequately update my mailing address with their visa department on numerous occasions and not allowing me to do it directly with the visa dept. Yes, I did not agree to being treated poorly by the establishment and could not in good faith pay them for being treated poorly. 4. They refused and then failed to listen to conversation when I initially charged back the retreat fee where I was told I would not be held responsible. 5. Even though I am still in the dispute process with them, *** said shed call me back about this recorded call as well as "maybe" crediting me for the interest on the charge. She never called me back. its been one month. 6. When speaking to the VP, ***, I was told "we don't have your money." Except that they have the authority to interfere on disputes and have chosen to act inept. He was also very bad a returning my phone calls. 7. *** who put me in touch with *** said I could call her to follow up. I have 4 times now and gone into the credit union twice to follow up with her. She is not responding to my calls. Leaving me completely hanging on this issue when I have pressed to speak to the only person left, Todd, the CEO. This is NOT good service. From start to finish. I have been a member since it was *** in 1996. And I am astounded at how poorly I am being dealt with. This absolutely NOT OK! I have had almost identical problems with charges on my AMEX and they are exceptional at resolving matters.

On February 28, I was pre-approved for a mortgage loan through my bank, Credit Union 1. I was working with the loan officer, Kelly ***. I received the pre-approval letter in writing and proceeded the home purchasing process. It was an FHA loan in the amount of $125,000. I found a property located at 13410 S. Houston Ave, Chicago, IL 60633 and made an offer on April 20. It was accepted for $85,000 with $3000 towards closing costs. I mailed the earnest money in the amount of $500 via check to the realtor and ordered an inspection. The inspection cost $420 and was performed on April 25. On April 28, I spoke with Kelly via phone to update her with the status of the purchase and wanted to get approval for contract. My application needed addition paystubs, which I provided. On May 4, I received a phone call from Kelly indicating that I had not been approved by the lender, Fannie Mae. She explained that it was due to my student loans, where 1% of the total amount counted towards the debt to income ratio. I explained that I am enrolled in the Public Service Forgiveness Program, which substantially lowers my monthly payment. She explained that since the program has to be renewed annually, it cannot be considered for a long-term commitment such as the mortgage loan. I had explained the student loan payment via letter in the pre-approval application so I was confused when I was not approved. I was in the process of negotiating repairs for the property when I received the denial (awaiting letter). I cancelled the contract and did not proceed with purchase, as I could not. If the denial reason holds true, then I will not be able to become a homeowner until the end of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (about 8 years left for most of my loans). Previously, I filed a complaint with the Illinois Department of Regulations (IDR) on May 29. For some reason, I did not get the response from Credit Union 1 until August 18 upon inquiry (the response letter was dated June 11) so I did not get opportunity to respond in a timely fashion. I attempted to respond via IDR, but they recommended to contact Credit Union 1 directly. I sent a letter to respond directly to Credit Union 1 on August 20 as I would like another solution to the issue. At the time of the initial complaint, I asked for reconsideration for mortgage loan as I will still pursuing the same property. Credit Union 1 did not approve once again. I had intended on buying the same home, where I paid for an inspection as part of the purchase process for $420, but it is now under contract with another buyer. I would like a refund of the money I paid for the inspection fee as a solution to this matter. I lost monies as a result of this process and would like to file another complaint to recover the loss. The issue with Credit Union 1 mortgage loan pre-approval of the mortgage loan was that I was denied on the same basis that I was approved on (based on student loan information I provided). I outlined this in the letter I send on August 20 and I have not received a response.
