Read full review of Dick Smith ElectronicsPhone being delivered
My phone has just been doing laps of Sydney instead of being delivered you need to change delivery company to someone who takes there job seriously. First the tracking says it was sent back to south Australia from Sydney for no reason just to be sent back to Sydney the next day to do laps of chullora and greenachre NSW only 1 hour drive from the delivery destination yet it stayed in Sydney doing laps for no reason and I’m sitting here trying to figure out why because stuff like this shouldn’t happen. Auspost won’t get back to me so hopefully you will.
Desired outcome: Delivery to happen as I need my phone
First membership
On my last purchase back in July 6th-2023, I was misled into getting a subscription for a membership I never asked for. The checkout page is quite deceitful and deliberately conceals information to deceive customers. Besides, according to their policy, once the membership has been acquired, willingly or unwillingly, they are required to send a reminder for the upcoming payment, which conveniently never happens. Otherwise, the customer would have the time to cancel the subscription on time before they take the money.
This is not acceptable as I have never been informed of my subscription even once by email or sms, at least to confirm I signed up for that scam.
Desired outcome: I need my money back
Money taken unauthorized from my visa card, product not ordered by me.

Oculus quest 2 - dick smith service
The website said to buy today with express shipping to receive in time for Christmas. I made a $700 purchase for a Christmas gift- paid extra for express shipping on 16th December. It did not leave the warehouse for 7 days, now being the night of the 28th tracking shows it is not even in my state yet! False advertising and a sad kid for Christmas, I emailed on the 23rd and have had no reply from dick smith customer care other than other products they want me to buy.
Desired outcome: I’d like shipping refunded and my product would be a nice start. And don’t advertise things will arrive by a certain date if it takes a whole week for you to even put the item in the post

unauthorized credit card charges
On Monday the second of December there was an issue when trying to buy a watch from Dick Smith online and the order took out 3 payments from my debit card when I only wanted one, since then I received no confirmation email, no order history is visible and I am not sure it will even be shipped to the correct address. There is no visible way of contacting Dick Smith or making a complaint.
samsung galaxy s8
Bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 in December 2018 from DickSmith online (Kogan). As soon as I started using the phone, it echo's on the other side (person that I phoned). It also constantly loose network connection - internet and phone calls.
I've send all the relevant photos and explanations to DickSmith, received the phone back Friday (3rd May ). How big was my surprise with the first call, it still echos, phone calls loose signal and cut out.
Send an email back to help desk this morning - we start all over again, try 101 things that was done in December to try getting phone to work. After 6 months the phone is still a piece Dick Smith junk - send all old photos back with explanation of what is wrong, as the previous two ticket numbers are closed, no audit trial to speed up bad service, not sure what skill level they employed, as they are useless .
garmin vivoactive 3 watch
Purchased a Garmin Vivoactive 3 watch, received mid July 2018. Loved the watch to begin with. Until I ran with it about 5 times, then the GPS started to not work. First it was slow to connect, so Im left standing on the street in the cold for 10 minutes while waiting for it to connect. This happened about 3 times, I even tried going away from buildings, into sunshine - nothing worked and it started to get slower- up to 20 min wait time. I contacted DS (August 22nd) and they sent me a youtube clip to show how to reset my watch. Did this (which was annoying as I had to put all my settings back together). It worked, GPS was fine for 1 run. Next run, 10 minute wait. Next run, No GPS connection whatsoever. So the watch lasted for about 10 runs altogether. It was basically brand new, but seriously faulty. So DS now says I can send in for a technician to [censored], and they told me it may cost me - WHAT THE! So I initiated the return under warranty (lucky I had paid the extra money for warranty) on September 19th. Now I have FINALLY received my watch back on October 31st. Meanwhile, I have been watch-less during my races and my runs. Seriously, seriously unhappy with this.
Apparently I have been sent a replacement watch, however the box is dirty and there is no seal sticker - definitely not new.
I am frustrated with the losses and annoyances and time wasting I have experienced from purchasing this watch. Also, what would have happened if I didn't purchase the warranty? A faulty watch to keep?
Now, I don't trust the watch and the GPS, so I have a 'new' vivoactive that I do not want. I requested full refund but was ignored. Have had no apologies, no nothing from Dick Smith. Extremely upset and will be voicing my opinion.
asus monitor not working correctly - request # - 6318281
Purchased on 15th january. Received 19th january. Installed 20th january. Complained 22nd january. You now have it - still. Manufacturer deemed product to be doa (dead on arrival) but your pathetic company insists they have no idea. Last email from you was 2 weeks ago. Beyond pathetic. You should be shut down. Customer service is non-existent and when customer loses patience with you (and gee I wonder why!) you don't even bother to respond with an update. Cannot state how bad this company is. Help desk - no idea. Technicians - no idea. Will never purchase anything from any of your stores again and will be telling as many people as I can the horrible experience I have had (and am still having) with you.
Very poor customer service
It is no secret that some staff at Dick Smith ( some would say too many) offered poor customer service when interacting with consumers - a quick look online reveals too many customers reporting poor customer service. I never shopped there as I expect excellent levels of customer service and I knew I would not get it at Dick Smith. The staff responsible for this poor customer service ( and those responsible for training them), as well as managers who failed to adequately deal with customer complaints, are surely to blame for all the trouble the business is in. Research is clear that good service is good business. The media should be focusing on this major reason for the failure of Dick Smith. Hopefully other businesses will now review their customer service policies, especially those businesses that are well known for poor customer service and who see customers as an interruption to their day.
Dismissive unhelpful customer service
On the 26th November 2015, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L50D-C016 laptop which was on special. I had very helpful pleasant service by one of the female employees in the store. I went on to purchase a protective sleeve and a Norton anti-virus as well. She was very happy to have made the sale and I was very pleased with my purchase. As we live on a property with very poor internet service, I had to travel in to town to the local library to install and update all the software I require to run our farming business, whenever time allowed. The laptop would not connect to the internet at the library and after several attempts at it myself, I took it into one of the computer stores in town who had a look into the problem. The technician said there was a fault with the software that the laptop came with but eventually got the laptop to connect to the internet after making some adjustments. He advised me that should it continue to give me trouble, I should take it back and Dick Smith should replace it as it should still be under warranty. After finally managing to install Norton on to the laptop, it froze. I decided to take it back into the store and spoke to the sales lady who sold it to me originally. I explained my problem to her and asked what she could possibly do for me. She was very rude, short and dismissive of my problem which I found hugely offensive. 8 days ago she was only too happy to take my money, and now is not interested in the problem I have with one of her stores products. I was advised to have a health check done on the laptop, to get a letter from the computer technicians stating the problems detected and then only would they decide whether to replace it or not. Otherwise Dick Smith would send it to Toshiba to have it checked. I am fine with that but was seriously offended by such a rude, dismissive sales person and will certainly not recommend Dick Smith to any friends. I did not purchase a 3 year warranty for the laptop as I presumed it would work being brand new. I also wanted to just let her be aware that there was a problem with it and that if in 3 weeks time it was still not working, that Dick Smith might be able to resolve the problem. Am I expecting too much from a large chain store? If it doesn't function properly, can I not expect an exchange or refund?
Shonky Behavior
I had the misfortune of purchasing a selfie stick from Dick Smith Point Cook. The product clearly stated blue-tooth compatible with android phones. But not this particular product, it would not keep paired with my phone and I would have to unpair and go thru the whole process of repairing everytime I wanted to use it. I demonstrated this issue to Chris at Dick Smith Point Cook and also informed him that there was an issue with this selfie stick and HTC phones. He only gave me two options, one to replace the selfie stick with another of the same brand (same pairing issue) or change to a different brand for $10 more. I could not see why I had to spend an additional $10 when they already sold me a faulty product. A refund was out of the question because it had gone over 14 days since purchased. I actually bought this selfie stick the day before my six week holiday.
Beware Chris is a shonk and will give all sorts of excuses not to stand behind their product, buyer beware!
Staff sales member damaged my printer
At dick smiths Christchurch northlands I bought a printer & took it home to open it finding hairline cracks around casing, aha i thought earth quake damaged stock as the box was covered in quake dust as well i discovered after paying for it carrying to car left dust all over my clothing., & box was not quite primo ! so I took it back to northlands dicksmith store in Christchurch, where the young gal took the printer from the box towards service desk where it fell through her fingers & dropped to the bench with its full weight crashing all the lids open! so the store manager was out walkies from shop when this happened but the other sales guy who sold me the printer was there busy with another customer so I waited around 20 mins for him & he denied it was dropped & said she placed it there! I asked him to check his security footage as proof, he didn't flinch to say later, Also the sales guy lied to his manager saying the girl placed it there. and offered a second hand display printer as exchange. I refused this offer as i paid for a new item in a box. I insisted on a replacement new one or refund or return credit . In my frustration I left the store & the receipt with the printer there, but they refuse to see their way clear, A simple purchase for a new item & now I don't have it also the cost I'm down for paying for it ! they have my money.

refund run around
I bought a Fuji camera online dec 6th, and paid through my bank account through direct transfer. I found out on dec 8th that I had lost my job. I waited until that weekend to see if camera came, it didn't so I sent an email dec 12 outlining the situation and requesting a refund. Received reply from Kavita on dec 12 that order cancelled and refund on its way.
Dec 21st - called to check - spoke to Alicia who said she'd look and return my call - no call returned.
Dec22 - emailed Kavita again, advised re call on dec 21, where is $$ - no reply.
dec31 - called, spoke with Matthew Hunt, promised call back fm mgr - no call, no email
Jan2 - M Hunt had told me acct was working on monday - I called, offc closed - sent email
later in Jan - spoke with Pinar several times - she said she put my on hold and checked with accounting who said the refund was in the mail - second time Pinar said acct was cancelling check and sending out another one. I repeatedly asked for it to be couriered.
Jan 25 - Ralph says accounting has no record of my payment (which is in direct opposition to what Pinar told me). R said will have manager get back within 24 hours - no return call
IT IS FEBRUARY 3 today, and I am still just getting the run around. CAN ANYONE HELP ME?
who do I call to get a real person who will actually do something.
False Advertising/Selling
I recently purchased a Sanyo LCD TV and in chatting to the sales person I mentioned that I wanted to get into share trading and she said that this TV could get Finance news etc as it had Teletext. Upon trying for months to get it to work I rang Sanyo hotline and was told that Channel 7 is the onl;y channel in Australia that owns and operates Austext Teletext and that it had stopped boradcasting on 30 September 2009. Now why would I want a TV with Teletext that doesn't work? Plus the remote has a chunk of the pad devoted to the teletext controls? I rang Dick Smith and was told tough, the TV still works so what's the problem? Uuhhhh! Non Disclosure, false advertising, total lying...Any suggestions on what steps I should take as I was totally lied to!

Order number ME8YU83U-RTS
You were absolutely not lied to, the TV supports Teletext. The sales person told you the truth. If you're angry - be angry at the TV stations that have stopped supporting/supplying Teletext - why you wish to blame a poor sales person is beyond me. I cannot even fathom the stupidity of this post, seriously you need to go look in the mirror and realise you're entirely wrong and out of line.
Also - no young person uses teletext these days, they probably havent even heard of it. The sales person would have correctly checked the specification listing on the TV. The last time I personally used Teletext was in 1994, when I was curious. TV's these days are SMART TV's which support internet, the new Teletext - you need to get with the times.
