Duke Energy electric

I requested to move my service to a new apartment. They continued the bill on BOTH apartments. Then said they'd refund the money from the account I wanted closed. A week later I'm shorted still. If you have the chance to use another company do so. Do not use Duke Energy. The woman I spoke to when I was moving was very very rude, did not listen, kept me on the phone for a very long time, and was distracted. The second woman I spoke to attempting to fix this mistake was kind and fast but the money still has not been refunded. If I could sue I would. I have a newborn at home and they wanted to shut off my electric because I couldn't afford two apartments, one of which I dont live in. Like I said don't use this company.

Duke Energy power outage (planned)

We just moved to a new location about 2 months ago and the power is out again for the second time. This particular power outage says it was a planned power outage for maintenance. It would be really nice if you could let your customers know before you intentionally cut their power off in the middle of the night. We really appreciate another sleepless night before we get up in 2 hrs to get ready to go back to work (in the dark)

Duke Energy smart meter installation in spite of medical alert in my file

I am a disabled army veteran who informed duke energy that I have a compromised immune system and that the installation of a smart meter would be detrimental to my health, I advised duke energy that I would provide a [requested] notarized statement from my physician indicating that the smart meter should not be installed at my home due to my health condition. Duke power made note of this in my account. Duke power informed me that they would wait until receiving my doctors statement before installing a meter to my house and enroll me into the "opt out" program. I submitted the notarized doctors statement on the 2nd of may to duke energy to be enrolled in the "opt out" program, when I returned home today after a walk, I discovered that duke energy jumped over my locked fence and affixed a smart meter to my home without prior notice, without my permission to enter my backyard, and despite the fact that I submitted a notarized doctors statement stating that I must avoid exposure to radio frequency emissions to the extent possible to protect my health. I am already feeling the effects of having this smart meter installed to my home. It is located right outside of my bedroom and bathroom. I am so concerned about the affects/damage that this smart meter is causing as I type this message. The smart meter was installed today at approximately 8:30-9:30 am without my knowledge and without my consent, therefore; duke energy forced a smart meter and rf radiation on me without regard to my health. Duke energy is putting my health at risk even after I have expressed to them orally and in writing about my health condition. I can't believe that they would actually jump over my fence to install the smart meter after i've expressed repeatedly concerns for my health.

My address is 9475 sw 93rd loop, ocala fl 34481. When this problem is corrected please make sure to add a pole number so i don't have to go through this all over again ! please advise.

Duke Energy dead tree branch over power line not repaired

On an empty lot at the other side of the wall behind 5033 keeneland circle in orlando there is a dead tree branch on top of a power line. We received notification stating that duke energy workers would be around about 6 months ago and submitted a request to check on that line and nothing have been done. I need to know what else I have to do for someone to respond.

Duke Energy electric

Since about February 2019 we have power surges and outages on a weekly basis. I have contacted them a few times. The surges are more like every day to every other day. The outages were happening at least biweekly. Saturday april 13th our neighborhood lost power at least 3 times. I finally received a phone call from a man who informed me it is because we run off of the swansboro substation, that they are having issues with it, and we are at end of feeds. I was also informed it is because there are a lot of trees on wires one way or another and they are working on cutting trees. They have placed a voltage meter on my house. Well Friday the 19th we lost power yet again. This was before the bad weather even started running through. The representative was extremely rude and pissed me off even more as she tried to be something she wasn't. She informed me I had bad weather, um nope just a cloudy day. Then she told me the wires are above ground and it costs money to bury them. 🤬. You get enough $ to bury them. Quite honestly I think that statement pissed me off and I went off. One excuse after another with no knowledge at all and an attitude. Well because of all of these surges my dishwasher has been fried. I had spectrum out here troubleshooting my internet when the power went out. I explained sorry we have surges and outages all the time. Well since he couldn't finish his job since power was out he proceeded to tell me, "the surges and outages were more than likely the problem because the modem will shut itself down and reboot every time to protect it, but sooner or later it could fry the modem. Electronic devices can only handle so much!"

So tell me duke energy what are you doing?!?!? I need a new dishwasher and I'm tired of this ridiculousness! I'm not going to have power at all come May-November it's hurricane season

Duke Energy business disruption, property damage

On 4/5/19, without my knowledge nor consent, a crew from Bowlin group took over my business parking lot. Egress from my business was blocked (which is illegal) by cones and caution tape. The noise generated by the crew disrupted my therapy practice. My driveway was damaged by the truck. I was told that a complaint was made about a pole in front of 5135. Not my address, nor my complaint. The foreman told me that someone was "supposed to knock on my door". This was not done. I had no idea what was happening, nor why. Common sense and courtesy were sorely lacking in this event. I do not know why the crew parked in my lot vs working from the street. The foreman (Robert Spears) was apologetic, which is appreciated, but the apology does not repair my driveway, nor reverse the disruption to the therapy services I was attempting to provide to my patient. According to Mr. Spears, Duke had dispatched them to remove a pole, that was deemed an "emergency". That pole had been hit by a car about 10 years ago. It remained upright. On the other hand, a pole is leaning about 30 degrees about 50 ft. south of my property. I do believe that Bowlin was operating in good faith based on the information that they had been given by Duke, but the whole situation was bizarre. Mr. Spears assumed that the complaint was made by me (it wasn't) and he assumed that I was made aware of the activity that was going to take place on my property (I had NO IDEA what was happening). Although wood planks were placed under the jacks that stabilize the truck, no such protection was placed under the tires. My driveway is not rated for industrial/utility vehicles, and there is now a depression/hole in my driveway. I request that my driveway immediately be restored to its previous condition . I also strongly suggest that property owners be made aware of repairs and permission be obtained before entering private property.

Duke Energy Service not turned off despite it being in your company name. Went on for months without any guidance.

Property Management gone bad. We were the property management for a couple living in Florida for a small house in poor condition in Greene County, not far from Snow Hill. In good faith, we switched power to our name, cleaned the house out, provided an estimate for what the house needed and nothing progressed from there. Approximately, 4 months ago we were reminded to get the property out of our name when we received a very high bill...+$400. Alarmed and eager to eliminate the issue, we called for service to be discontinued. We do this all the time and thought no more of it until the next bill arrived and this went on and on. Apparently, the technicians were showing up and leaving notices on the property that they needed access to the back porch to get the meter. We had no idea and nothing was ever communicated to us..even after the 2nd and 3rd calls to turn off service. Recently, we found out that squatters had taken over the house. Finally, we arranged a meeting on-site with a technician and the Greene County Sheriff's dept. From there, we called in and asked that the power be cut at the pole. This was finally done this past Thursday March the 28th of 2019. From the beginning to the end of this fiasco, our company has been billed who knows?. It appears to be well over $1600 as the billing is very confusing. Yes, we would like a full refund.

Acct # [protected] Address of Service: 5922 US Hwy 258 S. La Grange, NC. Our company is Eagles Properties, Inc. Please contact Megan with Eagles Properties, Inc for any further detailed information. She can be reached at [protected] or [protected]@eaglesnc.com.

Thank you,

We attempted in goodfaith to ask for removal of this absurd additinal add on fee?
Yet trevor the poor customer service representative had a very difficult time understanding and knowing himsrlf the number of additional payments that were applicable in this account

Mr Trevor barely even comprehended the fee add ons himself.
Very disturbing how mr trevor on march 18th phone call Attempted to convince mr blau of a 192.00 month 2018. dec bill? On a 800 sq ft condo bottom floor new windows

And Not actual amps used in dec 2018 billing cycle
Had to pull teeth in conversation to get customer service Rep trevor to finally recognize this was an add on fee that was never disclosed to mr blau prior
That this late add on fee was somhow a penalty fee
Yet at NO time during the many conversations w Duke representative during 27 Dec 2018 thru 09 jan 2019

Duke Energy duke energy tracking soil onto street

Duke Energy & their sub contractor was relocating power and poles. The site is an active construction site. The sub contractors failed to use the construction/ erosion control measures in place to ensure that dirt was not tracked onto Sweetwater Road (21 st Dr. SE. Hickory).
When the contractors left the site all four trucks tracked mud onto the street. A complaint has been filed with NC Dept. of Enviormental Quality. The street was cleaned directly after by the construction contractor and again the following morning with equipment on site and a water truck brought to the site.
The property owner CVCC and the engineers are very upset about this. To date the cost of the clean up is $1, 425.00 encurred by Midstate Contractors Inc. 3245 Highway 70 SE, Hickory NC 28603. We would like to be paid for this work.
David Deal Estimator / Project Manager.

Duke Energy new panel for solar

I just called Duke about the status of changing my meter after having solar panels installed on my house. The system passed inspection by Orange County around 1:00 PM on the 20th of February. The gentleman on the phone from Duke was very nice but told me that paperwork hasn't been done yet because they are so busy. He informed me he would try to get to it today or tomorrow. I fully understand that Duke makes money selling electricity and for all intent and purposes I will no longer be a consumer. However, solar energy production on individual homes is the future of this country. We as a nation have to work together to move towards a cleaner environment. That includes our energy providers. If the paperwork is finally done in the next two days then maybe if I'm lucky I will get a new meter two weeks after my panels were installed. Why is paperwork for pulling meters on unpaid bills very responsive but when its the other way it takes so much time? I also understand when you pull a meter that until all bills and penalties are paid you get no electric. Yet will Duke pay me for my lost production? Maybe a law should be passed that puts the onus on the providers to pay for estimated lost production. I would bet that it wouldn't take two weeks to get a meter if that was the case. I'm a realist and understand that as more people get solar that the electric companies will have to charge more for being on the grid. I am in favor of this. If Duke is so busy in this department then maybe they should hire more people. Maybe Duke is just dragging their feet to get another two weeks of use from me. I wonder what would happen if I didn't pay my bill...

Duke Energy service disconnects, fees, and methodology

I was just informed by my teenage daughter and son that our electricity was turned off by Duke Energy for non-payment.

They turn-off our power after 3PM.

Duke Energy charges $40 to disconnect power.

To re-connect power, they charge $50 after 5PM

How many $40 charges do they collect per month from those hard working families which cannot easily keep up with their bills? They must be raking in tens of thousands of dollars monthly by sneaking up into folks' yards to turn-off the power.

Why don't they email or text me? I would pay immediately. Instead they choose to charge $40 for re-connecting the power.

Can we ask them to contact us, 24-hour, in advance before power disconnect. I have been a customer of Duke Energy/Florida Power for 40 years. I am tired of paying them $40 disconnect fees which, with today's technology, is complete unavoidable -- if they wanted to avoid the fees.

I get paid every other week. Why do companies not have a payment schedule which is conducive to my payment schedule? They make it impossible for me to pay automatically from my account every other week. They want payment on a specific date -- many folks don't get paid on a specific date and have to juggle money to make the bills -- me included.

Duke Energy collects money intentionally from many families which are barely making ends meet. I would like someone to help stop it.

Thank your for your excellent work and for your attention to this matter.

Duke Energy bill

My bill keeps going up. Last month (12/2018) my avg cost per day was 7.31. This month (01/2019) my avg cost per day was 8.35. I called and requested to have my meter checked and was refused the request. Asked for a supervisor, that request was also refused. Now because of this my bill is 355.27. And a minimum of 255.27 is due by 3/4/19 or I will be disconnected and I have a new born and a 17 month old. My wife and I are both disabled and on a fixed income.

Duke Energy power installation

In September 2018, began trying to get service on an established building that did not have meter and was receiving service from an associated business building. Originally asked for three-phase power and was given an example estimate of $2500 dollars by Duke Engineer who came out and looked at what I was trying to do. Said he would let me know exact estimate. Never did. I called him after several weeks. He gave me an outrageous estimate of $4600 dollars! I tried to get a written estimate help understand why so much over the original estimate quoted. After lapse of time and could not get any written documentation of my estimate, I tried to speak to a Supervisor in Engineering. NONE EVER CALLED ME BACK! FINALLY, I GAVE UP AND REQUESTED, "HOW MUCH WOULD SINGLE-PHASE SERVICE COST". I WOULD TRY TO GET BY WITH THAT. Same Duke Engineer was sent which I had requested NOT HIM! He had not done one thing, returned wo any call on time or done what he said he would do anytime previous that he said he would! So here we went again. I was nice. I thought maybe it was just a miscommunication but NO it wasn't! He would say he was going to call and provide me information about my service and when it would be done. Lastly he told me it would be 10 days, they were behind, to put up the pole which I had passed a county inspection of my electricians work. I have waited two-weeks, and no one has shown-up with a pole yet! I called the DUKE Engineer this morning and he said he would check on my order and let me know the schedule. NO RETURN CALL BY THIS AFTERNOON. I CALLED DUKE MYSELF AND FOUND OUT THE DUKE ENGINEER HAD LIED AGAIN! HE HAD NOT EVEN COMPLETERED 'HIS' PAPERWORK AND HE ONLY ESTABLISHED AN ACCOUNT TODAY! THEREFORE, THE 10 DAYS HE HAD TOLD ME IT WOULD BE AND I HAD WAITED WAS FOR NOTHING JUST LIKE ALL THE MONTHS I HAVE WAITED SINCE LAST 2018, SEPTEMBER TO TRY TO GET POWER! I TRIED TO GET THE NUMBER OF THE SUPERVISOR OF THE ENGINEER WHO HAS DONE NOTHING BUT JERK ME AROUND AND TELL ME LIES, AND I COULDN'T! I AM LOGGING IN A COMPLAINT TO DAY WITH THE BBB OF CHARLOTTE AND WITH ANY TELEVISION STATION THAT DOES, INVESTIGATIONS FOR THE PUBLIC WHICH DUKE WOULD NOT TELLL ME WHOM I MIGHT CALL AND MAKE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS TERRIBLE UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE! IF AN ENGINEER TELLS YOU SOMETHING, A DATE, A SCHEDULE, A COST, SEEMINGLY, THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE IT!

Complained to Duke Power about slow installation of service and found out NO PAPERWORK had been submitted by Duke Engineer. In fact, account was just established this morning when our work done for weeks! Their representative that we were speaking to at that moment, said she called Engineer when she could not find any record and while we were on hold and he said "When he finished his paperwork would be scheduled". He told us two-weeks ago that pole set and line run in 10 days. He told us this morning when we called him that he would call us right back and let us know when it was scheduled. He never returned call so we called Duke this afternoon and found out paper work had not even been submitted! Late in day he called back and said paperwork was submitted (so why did he tell their rep "When he finished it..." and he still not know what we asked him this morning, when scheduled!

Duke Energy repair

In early January we had our power line repaired after waiting a month for the equipment to make this repair (Ditch Witch required for under road boring).  While we certainly appreciate the restoration of our power using a temporary "extension cord type repair",   we were disappointed in the condition of the yard and road after the final repair.

Please see the attached three JPG photos of the completed job.

Duke Energy senior citizen power cut-off and broken promises on when it would be back on.

Sun Dec 9 0330 We lost power. Called and reported power outage approximately 0339. Called and updated large tree had power line across the road. Also mentioned we live on a dead end road and mother was 80 and couldn't get out for an emergency. I was told our priority would be upgraded. Later when tree removal crew was in our vicinity Earl spoke with them. They said they had not been notified of a downed power line across the road, by a fallen tree.
Mon Dec 10 1630 Power back on
Mon Dec 10 Aprox 30 mins later Duke Energy came by inspected damage saw main feed conduit broken and disconnected he power was in the middle of cooking and needed to shower. I asked one of the workers what was required to get it back on. He said we needed to have the conduit replaced. I asked once it was what we were to do, who to call? He said I could call Duke Energy.
Tues Dec 11 spent this day looking for an Electrician. Mom called several church members.
Wed Dec 12 I removed the conduit, went to Lowes and replaced the conduit and called Duke Energy. They said it req'd an inspection. They gave us the number to Permits section. Contacted Permits and they said we would need to get an Electrical Permit. We went down to that office. We filed for the permit and since I did the work was reg'd to go to Register of Deeds section and complete another form that said she could not rent or sell for 2 years, paid $10 for that form and then $5 to get it Notarized (1444 hours). Went back to Permits section and completed and paid for the Permit $30 (1453 hours) Permit# 18-12903. We were told to place the permit on the Meter box where the repair was completed. When we asked about how we would be notified we were told once the Inspector completed the inspection, he would file the results by 0830 on Thu Dec 13.
Thu Dec 13 my mother called Duke Energy numerous times throughout the day to check to see if the inspection passed. Finally late in the day she was told that Inspection had passed. We were told the workorder was 111902391248.
Fri Dec 14 started calling Duke Energy to see when power would be restored, inspection results had not been updated in the computer. Waited and called all day. She was told power would be restored today.
Sat Dec 15 0900 No Power still. SCalled the main #, closed. Called the Power Outage # and spoke with Shawn at Aprox. 1000 AM. Shawn said we had reached the Emergency outage we told him our situation. He said he would try to get someone scheduled to come out.
Sun Dec 16 No power yet didn't want to waste our time.
Mon Dec 17 Morning we rec'd several calls about someone coming out. Finally sometime around 1200-100 got power.
We called claims and at 800-541-0139 to claim all her food that spoiled in refrigerator. Claim# 3018877350001. Took pics. Told we would receive a call from someone from claims. 2 Weeks later and no call.
