My husband, Jason purchased the above dryer in 2020. BEFORE the warranty was expired, I called the Dyson customer service to let them know that the dryer was cutting out. I would plug it in, and it would turn off on its own after 2-3 minutes. I called and customer service told me it was because of the filter. Dyson troubleshooted the dryer on several occasions. I continued to use the dryer and it started turning off again. I would have the dryer on, and it would just quit. I have to push the red/yellow button on the plug. It comes back on for a minute than it turns off again. I called the Dyson customer service line again. The lady told me someone would be contacting me to replace the unit. I never received a call. I called back again, and customer service said the warranty was now expired. I would have to take it to a Dyson repair center. This Dyson repair center is an 8-hour roundtrip for me. It is located in St. Louis, MO and is 534-mile roundtrip from my home. I took to the Dyson repair center on Saturday, 28 October. The gentleman took the dryer to the back of store for about 10 minutes. He handed the unit back to me and said it was a loose coil. He turned it on, and it ran for about 2 minutes. I left the store and made the journey back home. I tried to use the dryer and it shut off again after 3 minutes. I have thick long hair and need the dryer to run for more than 3 minutes. I tried to call the St. Louis repair store again. The person who picked up the phone was from Columbia. He did not understand me, and I did not understand him. He then transferred me to the Las Vegas, NV Dyson store. The Dyson employee at the Las Vegas location took my phone number and said he would file a complaint for me. He said there was nothing he could do to help me. I then called the Dyson customer service number again. A lady named; Sophia from Columbia answered the phone. I could not understand her at all. But what she said was, I needed to find a box to put this $500 hairdryer in and ship it to Texas. When Dyson receives the black hair dryer, they will then ship me a silver/fuchsia refurbished unit. This is not what I paid for when purchasing my supersonic dryer. All this started over a year ago. Many wasted hours on the phone "troubleshooting" the unit. Drove 534 miles roundtrip to the Dyson repair center. I am very disappointed in the care that Dyson shows their customers. It is not a "cheap" hairdryer. I expected more than 1 1/2 years out of it.
Claimed loss: $435.39 for the dryer. 534 mile roundtrip to St Louis. 24.27 gallons of gas. Gas at $3.50 in Missouri, total of $84.95. Total financial lost for the dryer: $520.34
Desired outcome: I would like a refund for the dryer. I would like a refund for my wasted trip to St. Louis. I would like an apology and for Dyson to look at their customer service.
