I am a mother and an elementary school teacher in a small town. I go to the Family Dollar in Slocomb every week, sometimes several times a week. Y'all always have what I need. This past Friday, I could not believe what happened in your store with your employees.
I went in on Friday, January 17, 2020. I went to the back to look at pillows. I heard 2 women talking/arguing... using very profane language. I was really in shock because I just could not believe they were speaking so ugly in public at FAMILY Dollar! I was immediately very thankful that my children were not with me, and I had not notice any in the store on my way back to the pillows. They said the D word several times and the F word several times (damn and [censored]). I hate to even type these words, but I don't want any confusion. I recognize them both because I am in this store so often... it was Heather and Jacqueline. I thought surely this store has cameras with audio! They seemed to not care.
I could hear them work their way up to the front of the store, and the talking/arguing stopped or I couldn't hear it. As I rounded the back of the store to go over to the food section. I heard doors slamming and boxing being thrown. As I came up to the furthest aisle... I saw Heather throwing pizza boxes into the cooler, slamming the cooler doors, and throwing the boxes down on the floor. It actually startled me several times, so I just turned another way. It was really shocking. I went to the front to check out because I just wanted out of there. Two high school girls got in line behind me about the same time another employee walked in the door. It seemed like she was going to buy something before she clocked in. She said "What's going on?" (because she heard the slamming noises). Then she walked over toward the slamming noises, and said "What the [censored]?" I got up to the cash register for Jacqueline to check me out. I said "Ma'am, I know work can be stressful, but y'all cannot use that kind of language in a family store. There are children here." I pointed behind me to the high school girls in cheerleading uniforms. Jacqueline said "Who, me? I don't use that type of language." I said okay, but it is inappropriate for y'all to behave this way. She said "I got you."
My husband called to get the general managers name when I got home. The employee that answered the phone said I would have to call back later. I think it was Heather on the phone.
I really could not believe the behavior of your employees that day. It was really terrible. I hope y'alll can help them understand that this is not okay. I will not be going back until I have heard word that this has been handled. I have told several family and friends also.
