Food Basics has made itself a success with its discount, affordable brand. In our small blue-collared town, many of your customers are seniors, disadvantaged or living on fixed income and disability payments. We have also seen a dramatic increase in homelessness.

1. Imagine my disappointment to see Food Basics Goderich double the price of its discounted, past-due produce. Instead of the former .99 cent bags, now the past-due produce has been raised in price by 100% to $2.

SInce there are many residents depending on good value from Food Basics, please help me understand your price pressures on what is essentially a product lacking any remaining vlaue.

2. Similarly, the Rocco Italian coffee product always sold until recently at 4.59 for 325 gms, escalated in one week by 20% before being "Locked Down Priced" to $5.49 Is Food Basics leaving its roots and values? Thanks for a written reply that I can share on social media.

Address your concerns directly to Food Basics, emphasizing the impact of rising prices on vulnerable customers in your community. Request a clear explanation of the price changes, particularly for discounted produce and Rocco Italian coffee. Highlight the importance of maintaining affordable options for seniors and those on fixed incomes. Encourage them to remain committed to their core values of providing value to the community. A written response can help raise awareness on social media about the importance of affordable grocery options in your area.
