After months of being charged for CIC Triple Advantage and TLG Great Fun, I finally decided to
check what these companies were and how to get from being charged.

I am handicapped, so have no reason to be interested in Great Fun. Looking up Great Fun brought
me to CIC, which makes me believe which if both are bogus companies.

I am losing $14.95 w. CIC and $14.99 w. Great fun monthly. I would like to know how to get off thier
payroll as I can't afford the $30 a month.

PLease get back to me as soon as you can.

Free Credit Report Unauthorized charges to debit card

BEWARE: when signing up to get a free copy of your credit report on freecreditreport.com. On receipt of receiving your report, this company begins automatically charging your credit card $14.95 / month, if you don't read the fine print. It is a SCAM. You will sign up for a service called CIC Triple Advantage. The customer care rep I spoke with took me to the site and talked me through the language in the fine print about signing up for CIC*Triple Advantage (whatever this is). They refused to credit me back for the unwanted services, and said I did not read the terms and conditions closely, and I was at fault.

The customer care rep promised to email confirmation of my cancellation to my email address which I never received. I called back and asked them to resend the email address, and the customer care agent was not able to help to resend an email for my cancellation confirmation. This is unacceptable! Basic customer care support. This is a sketchy operation.

She advised that I would need to write a letter and fax to their Customer Relations group at 949.567.3858 in order to get a copy of my confirmation of cancellation. I asked to speak with her supervisor. I found it very hard to believe that Customer Care could not send an email to a customer! The supervisor said he would send a request to this "special" group on my behalf, but even he could not send me an email to confirm my account had been closed.

DON"T BE A VICTIM of not reading fine print. Stay away from freecreditreport.com.

They are scam artists who prey on consumer error.

Free Credit Report Scam charges!

Someone better credit my 6 months of chare or susan warnik will here from me . this was found on the consumer web site (The trio of reporting agencies established a single authorized Web source for customers to access the information for free: AnnualCreditReport.com. That is the only federally mandated source for free, no-strings-attached credit reports.

The rest of the Internet Web sites advertising "free" reports -- more than 100 at last count -- are in fact impostors whose real agenda is to steer unsuspecting consumers into a for-profit marketing enterprise, according to a World Privacy Forum in-depth investigation and report.)

I found this in the complaints, so I have proof this is a scam.

I received a free credit report and agreed to the $1.00 charge but since then i have had three different companies billing me for $29.95 a month. I have disputed these charges with my bank and it has been very frustrating. I continue to have these issues and i am sick of it. Can someone please do something about these companies ripping people off. I am single and take care of two disabled parent i do not have the money in my account. I did not agree to anything but the one time $1.00 fee and i am pissed.

To anybody that reads this - Please do not visit the websites unless you have money to give away because they will continue to take it from you. I cannot believe that something cannot be done about this.

Anyone using Free Credit Report.Com BEWARE, it is not free, you will be charged a monthly fee. My fee was $12.95 without my consent. I was charged another $12.95 for the next month. I called VISA and had a new credit card issued and canceled the old card.

This is the coolest scam I have seen. I should have known something was up when they asked for my credit card number.

Just a heads up to Free Credit Report.com, its not free !

Free Credit Report Free credit report scam!

I'm being charged $12.95 a month by CIC Triple Advantageirvine for credit check reports, which apparently... I inadvertently agreed to paying for after getting a 'free' credit report! I've just spent 1 hour on the phone with them, and only managed to get two months money back of the 7 months I've paid for! i now have to write to their 'Consumer Relations Group to try to recover the balance of $64.75. What do you think my chances of recouping that will be huh...

I have cancelled my membership today by calling the Customer Service number. I was charged once (still pending today), and it's $14.95 plus tax. I only had a 7-day free trial period. Regardless of their disclaimer stating that there is a membership fee of $14.95/month, it is in blue print on a blue background that blends nicely with the website. Nice disclaimer, scammers. This is not stated in the Terms and Conditions, which an operator tried to argue. I was able to cancel my "membership" and obtain a "refund", for which I am still waiting. What I did was speak to the operator, and told her how it is deceiving to have commercials and advertisements along with a website stating a free credit report. She had told me that I should have read the Terms and Conditions, which I did. She also told me that it was impossible to give me a refund. I asked to speak to a supervisor. She agreed, and put me on hold. I was put on hold for a few minutes, and the operator had told me that the supervisors were all busy. Then, she decided to give me a refund. Now, isn't that funny? I thought she just told me that it was impossible for her to give me a refund. All of a sudden, the impossible becomes the possible.

Now, if I were speaking to a supervisor, I would have told him/her the exact same thing I told the operator. If the supervisor only agrees to refund you one month as "courtesy, " but you have been charged for several, then tell him/her that it is not satisfactory. If the supervisor refuses to refund you the full amount, then threaten to report this to the Better Business Bureau. Usually, if the supervisor is "smart, " then he/she will agree to give you a full refund. It's faster and there's less trouble giving you the full refund as opposed to dealing with the Better Business Bureau, again. I hope this advice works for some of you.

Free Credit Report Unathorized Credit card charge

My wife went to the website and took advantage of a free 30 day offer for Credit Report services. Before the 30 days was up she called and notified the company that we wanted to cancel. She was assured it was cancelled. We just got our credit card statement and a $14.95 was presented . I called and complainted then they claimed they dont show anywhere that my wife had cancelled the service and that I would have to pay the $14.95. I see that I am not the only one that they are doing this to. I would like to take this matter up with the US Attorney General's office. How do I do that?

Free Credit Report won't refund

Started filling out for their "free"creditreport. but cancelled. A couple days ago i saw they charged my credit card, just called them and talked to a managed she says she can see that i viewed it, and will not refund my 14.95. I told her i never have been to that website, i cancelled it, and never recieved emails from them. So told me they sent me emails, and that they will not refund my money. I sent in a complaint to the BBB and hopefully they will resolve this. its horrible how the can do that. They kept telling me not to believe what the internet says, but then they turn around and screw you over. BAD BAD Company. So rude there

This is one of the biggest scams I have ever been a part of. I did the free credit report.com and now they have taken over $100.00 directly out of my banking account! Unbelievable. And, they won't credit any of it. I warn all people not to participate in free credit report.com. There is nothing FREE about it!

Free Credit Report Charge for Free Credit Report Unauthorized

On 10/27/07 went on line to request a free credit report at freecreditreport.com. Prior to proceeding with information I was asked to submit credit card information, at which time I was told my credit card would not be billed if I cancel within 30 days.

Upon checking my credit card statement on-line today there was a $25.90 charge from CIC Triple Advantage. I called (11/15/07) CIC and spoke with a Ciara and told her I wanted to cancel the service and ask if my credit would be reimbursed and she said "NO". I was also told the reason for the $25.90 charge was because $12.95 was for a incomplete request I made in August (which I do not recall making). I did do the request on 10/27/07 because of a charge that had appeared on a Transunion report when I applied for a loan with my credit union.

If a credit report is "FREE", why was I charged to go on line to look at my report and why do these sites require a credit card? This is a scam and need to be stopped.

CIC Triple Advantage need to be put out of business and required to refund every dime they have stole from consumers.

Sincerely

Marjorie Whitfield

Free Credit Report $12.95 unauthorized check card charge!

A couple of months ago my son (Aaron) and I followed online instructions to receive our FREE credit reports. Of course you can't even get a free credit report without giving your credit card information. We both canceled the service within the 30-day period so we would not be charged a monthly fee. On Monday, October 15th CIC Triple Advanta put a hold on my account for $12.95 without my authorization. I called to inquire and they said Aaron had requested a free credit report on September 15th and that is a lie because I was the one who got a free credit report on that date.

THIS IS A TOTAL RIP-OFF!

I myelf signed up for a free credit check thinking it was free too, boy did I get jipped. CIC*Triple Advantage as been taking $14.95 out of my account since December of 2008. I found the contact number and called them about it. They had a answer to everything I asked and told them. They canceled something I did not even sign up for and they even sent it to my e-mail address that I had to give them. They even had a nerve to ask for my debit card number, which they should already have because they are already taking my money out of my account without my permission. They also asked for my full social security number, of course I did not give it to her. She said she really needed that info to look up my account with them that I know nothing about. She even told me I had not signed up for anything, but I sure did receive a cancelation on my e-mail stateing I canceled. They are lyeing thru their teeth trying to cover their tracks. They are theives and we all need justice. I can't beleive they are still doing business. I've read so many reports on these people and they are still at it. Just remember, we honest, hard working people sweating by our brow are getting ripped off. It always happens to the best of us. Don't ever give your card number out to anyone on the internet. I have at least 3 more web sites taking money out of my account without my permission and I'm having a time trying to get address's on them to report them to the bbb. They do that to scam people, you have to be careful. You can't trust anyone. The lady at my local bank said the free credit report was the main reason where the other three sites are coming in from and stealing from my account. This is not right!

Free Credit Report REFUND of unauthorized charges made monthly

PLEASE, ALL, MAKE COMPLAINTS UNDER "FREECREDITREPORT.COM" ALSO! THIS IS THE ROOT ORGANIZATION!

My story and how I got my refund:

I got my "free" credit report from FreeCreditReport.com about three months ago. For the last two months, I've received unauthorized charges from some outfit labeled "CIC Triple Advantage." Today, I found out that this is the label of the charges made for a bogus membership that FreeCreditReport.com had signed me up for automatically. Even if you think you are not wanting (or are clicking "no" for) any further services from them, this "membership" is begun, and you must give written notification that you do not want it, or you must call [protected] to "cancel membership." And be prepared to wait a long time. Use a land-line phone, so that you are not cut off!

Following is an edited-for-time transcript of my phone call to the above number:

After calling the number (at 12:20 pm MT) and telling the woman that I wanted to "cancel my membership," and after she went through a long spiel about how I signed up for such and such and that this included such and such, she put me on hold with music for a minute or so. The woman came back on and said that my membership was now canceled.

I THANKED her, and then asked for an email confirmation of this. She replied that it would be sent within 2 hours.

I THANKED her again and said that I would now like the charges to my account to be refunded. She said, "the charges are valid," and something about them not being refundable.

I POLITELY persisted, and asked to be transferred to someone who could give me a refund. She repeated the same statement: "the charges are valid," etc. and then said she would be right back. She came back and said that "as a courtesy only the $12.95 has now been refunded to your account."

I THANKED her, and then said, "now I would like the remaining charges refunded as well." Of course, she repeated the mantra and then more about not being refundable, only one month's charges...

I POLITELY said, "I would like to be transferred to the person who gave the approval the first time. She said she would try and ask and to please hold.

This time, the phone did not have music on hold but silence and a lot of clicking. I think that this was the company hoping that I would think that I was disconnected and hang up, because she spoke again after a minute or so (with no clicking, as if she were listening the whole time). I also think that the company has them listen for profanity and threatening language because these are cause for anyone to legally hang up. BE POLITE!

After about 2 minutes of silence, clicks, and knocking sounds, she came back and said that all the charges have been refunded but that I would have to hold for some kind of application process.

Finally, after 5 or 6 minutes of the same silence/clicking, she said that the application was approved and that I would be getting confirmation. I had a hard time understanding her accent, so I said, "Thank you. Please, also, I would like an email confirmation of this." She said that she'd already said that and repeated it back. (Good idea to ask again anyway with a difficult accent!)

I THANKED HER AND GENTLY TOLD HER TO HAVE A GOOD DAY. (I wanted to tell her that she needn't worry, that she wouldn't have that job forever, and that I hoped that she was paid well, because they make a lot of money --- but I didn't.)

I'll write another complaint, if I don't get what was promised.

I too see I have been charged the past two months from CIC. I did not authorize these charges and actually had to look on line to see what this company was and called the bank to close my card. I will call CIC and see where it goes from here. Total scam, no where did it say I was allowing them to "monitor my account" what? How do we go about filing a suit? Anyone know?

Shame on CIC! I just realized this was a charge not authorized by myself or my husband! I assumed that the $12.95 a month charge on our account was something my husband set up... or approved. We just realized that for over 16 months we have been charged! Charged for what? Someone needs to set up a class action lawsuit or something, how can they get away with this? Thank you to the person who posted a phone number for CIC. We are calling first thing tomorrow! They will be sorry they ever billed my account when I get done with them! I will keep you guys posted on what happened!

This is a scam - nothing but a pure unmitigated scam. They charged my credit card without my authorization. I received nothing except the meaningless credit report - no notification, no reporting, no nothing. My wife pays the bills and she mistakenly thought it was something I wanted. Went on for 12+ months. I finally woke up. Called CIC. It's in the fine print. This kind of crap has got to be illegal.

So I basically had the exact same issue with these guys only they charged me $14.95

I followed this person's advice and it worked!

The first thing the guy I spoke to did though, was try to sign me up for a different type of account... like that would happen!

They gave me the whole spiel about how it was a "valid" charge after the 30 day trial period and I kept saying I was under the assumption that after that 30 day trial period I would be given the option to subscribe to a full membership or the trial membership would cancel itself.

Then he said they sent me an e-mail confirming all the membership details (which I never received) and I kept informing him that I am very particular with all my e-mails and I don't delete them (for cases like this) and I never received one. He kept repeating himself about sending the e-mail and I kept repeating myself about not receiving one.

After a little back and forth banter, he put me on hold to "talk to his supervisor". He came back a short while later and said "as a courtesy, we will refund the money to your account".

I was polite as can be and tried to sound firm but not mad and angry. They want to keep people in their good graces, and if they feel they have already lost your complete support then they won't give you a penny's worth of refund because they figure they lost your business and figure you'll complain to everyone. But if you are seemingly cooperative then they feel they have lost their $14.95 but they also figure you won't complain about them (which we are all doing anyway..)

February, 12, 2008
Tuesday afternoon...
Yesterday I was made aware of a charge of $14.95that showed up on my checking statement from my credit union. I asked the gal there from who did it originate and she said CIC Triple Advantage... A "Free" credit report company. He is what transpired...

I basically followed this person's advice and persistance and politeness got the job done. This was the first charge of $14.95 that I was aware of and after checking with my credit union, they confirmed that since my initial membership in the credit union in June of 2004 this was the first charge from this particular company concerning a "Free" credit report.

I was able to barely make out the words from the woman and finally was able to get the membership cancelled (with e-mail confirmation and within 2 hours) and refunded the $14.95 (no e-mail confirmation according to their company practices) but it would arrive in 7-10 business days. Also, after I mentioned that I realized that she was just the messenger I asked her if she was aware of the huge amount of complaints against her company.

After a little sigh and a brief moment of silence (like she was about to read her response off of a card) she confirmed that she knew of the complaints and that as a representative of the company could she possibly give me a word of advice. I said sure. "Sir, the reason we are authorized to cancel and refund memberships that are indeed valid, the reason is that according to our technical people, some people were not able to read all the information on our site."

"Because of this we are obligated to not make an issue of the problems and refund charges and cancel memberships when asked to. I would also suggest sir and this is most important... that if you access a website such as ours in the future, to please read all the details thouroughly so surprises of this nature do not occur again." I agreed with her, told her to have a nice afternoon and she told me the same.

She asked me if there was anything else she could help me with and I said no... Only after I hung up did i realize i should have asked her... "what about the people that don't call and complain? You feel alright still charging them? Anyway, I will wait for the outcome and relay the information here... good or bad.

I called them to cancel my membership and also get a refund. The girl said she would cancel my membership but that I couldn't get a refund. I asked for a manager or someone higher up. She told me they were out and that they would tell me the same thing. I proceeded to call my credit card company, Capital One, to dispute the charges and the woman told me they get complaints daily regarding CIC. She told me they would dispute the charges and was very nice. I hope that it goes through as it seems that it is a common thing with them. We'll see.

these people took two $1.00 payments. and i check my account today and it say's that they have taken $29.95 and i never , said that they can take that money from my account. i called and i was on hold waiting for some one to get the phone , there was no music or talking. I think that , that is very unprofessional to not have any music and to let people know that people will be right with them. And then for the web site to say that it is free , they just need a dollar, ( not two payments of a dollar, and another payment of $29.95) and the nfor you to call and try to speak to some one about getting your money back , and every body is busy .this company is a cheap that had to lie and steal from every one , to make money. i have to call again , and i better get my damn money!

I've been getting hit with $14.95 charges every month by CIC Triple Advantage. I have not authorized this nor do I even know what it is. I pay my Credit Card down every month and it was very obvious to me. What about the people who have balance every month and may overlook the $14.95 charge. I will first contact my Credit Card Company and have them go after the thief! I will also call the phone number listed on this site. What a scam.

It took me calling my on-line banking support and having them do a three way call to get this cancelled. I had called triple advanta before and they said they cancelled it...but didn't...so I got my bank involved. They said i'll get a confermation e-mail in 24 hours. We'll see. GOOD LUCK with this company.

When you sign up for your "free" credit report it is clearly stated in the terms that you agree to sign up for CIC Triple Advantage for 30 days free, after which period you will be billed $12.95/mo. until you cancel. You won't get your money back usually, but you can call the number on your credit card statement and have them stop billing you. You won't get the service anymore (if you're even using it).

Make sure you read the terms on all those credit report sites before you sign up! Almost all of them require you to sign up for their monitoring service which cost anywhere from $10-$50 per month.

I too have received charges to an account that my husband and I were hoping to close. Because it had no money that account is no in the negatives. I called the number that appeared on my bank statement [protected] to have the reimburse me for those charges and to cancel the account. They gave me a hard time so I threatened them, they did reverse the most current charges but refused to do any others.

Make sure to read the fine print when signing up for ### like this... my advice: just don't do it.

CIC has been billing be the $12.95 a month from freecreditreport.com. I took the opportunity to read the terms and conditions and it says there that you will be billed on a monthly basis. NOTE FOR EVERYONE: There is a number to call in the terms and conditions. I just called it and canceled my account. Took less than five minutes. Open up their terms and conditions and do a search for "monthly". You'll find what you are looking for a few searched words down. The number they give you thats buried in this wall of text is [protected]. Happy Hunting!

The phone # on their website is not working. Call this # to cancel [protected]. It is the number for ConsumerInfo.com but its the same company as FreeCreditReport.com. When they ask you why you are canceling you should give them a piece of your mind like I did.

Free Credit Report Credit card charges without permission

I contacted Green Dot Credit Card Company regarding charges on my card and was informed that the charges were from CIC Triple Advantage. I immediately contacted CIC @ [protected] and was informed I would be receiving a credit of around $25.00 and the service would be cancelled immediately. My credit card is reloadable so after putting $200.00 on it last week I discover that $24.00 has been charged again to my credit card. I am Sick and tired of these charges being taken off my credit card without my authorization. I have once again written to Green Dot regarding authorization!

I was charged 12.95 for a "free" credit report. The web site failed and I was not even allowed to print the report.

This is a company that took $14.95 out of my account for each member of my family. Two sons, father and myself. To return your money each person, that answers the phone give you something different. My money will be returned in seven day, the next one 7-10 days. Today 7-14 days. They took this out of my account on July 23, 2008, my money has not been returned as of today August 7, 2008. Do not give them any of your credit card information, they are frauds about taking money for this out of your account.

Beware Not Worth IT! Pass this by!

I actually just got off the phone with cic triple advantage and they are a SCAM! I definately urge anyone not to do FREECREDITREPORT.COM. They do not say anything about cancelling your membership once you get into your credit report. The initial page where you put in your credit card is the only place that says anything about being charged and to cancel in 7 days. They do not offer you any more information nor a phone number to call and cancel. This is absolutely ridiculous and I have learned from my own mistake. Don't let yourself be scammed into this website!

I went on line to request a "free" credit report as advertised on TV. I paid $2495 for the report. Then a charge of 12.00 dollars started to appear on my debit card. I have called the company and canceled the so called membership I never applied for in the first place. I also alerted my bank. These people need to be shut down.

I had a hard time even finding a number to call about this one and they will never write you back. I just called my bank's customer service provider and explained I wanted to stop charges. She three way called the number on my bank statement for the charge and told them she was calling from the bank. They agreed to cancel the "membership" and said I would incur more fees. Worth a try...

I logged on to freecreditreport.com to of course get a free copy of my credit report. When you sign up it offers a free credit monitoring service that is mandatory to sign up for (and give your credit card number for). I must not have read closely because I thought that in order to get the service you would have to renew it after 30 days. I was mistaken...
