FreedomPop free internet is bs

Their free internet is BS! From May to October 2017 I was charged just over $300! I disputed one monthly charge of $29.98 with my credit card and was reimbursed. The next day I received emails from Freedom Pop stated my account was cancelled and they were sorry to see me go!
Just before I joined I read that once you sign up, go to your account and choose the "Free Plan". There was no such thing! The lowest plan was $13.98, which is fine cause all I need is limited access. I found out I was being charged both amounts per month. In the beginning I bought 1 Wi-Fi device for $19.98, then after checkout was offered and bought another for $9.98. Once received and connected, I would receive emails stating: "We're adding $15 to your account so your service won't be disrupted". All these amounts add up quick!

FreedomPop can't cancel

Good luck with trying to cancel your order, guys.
They will find one million and one reasons to refuse. I tried to explain that I changed my mind, yes, it happens sometimes, but it was useless. At first they said that the items were already ready for shipping (wow, within 2 hours?), then they said that according to their policies they have no right to cancel orders (then your policies are stupid and desperately have to be rewritten), then I was said that I can be charged for cancellation. For real?

I'll tell you that: all of those reasons are illegal. You can't do what you described. Any order can be canceled without any obvious reason.
You're acting like fraudsters.

FreedomPop phone service/ unauthorized billing

My name is Tracy Anderson. I signed up for the free trial of your service but never used it. Y'all could not issue me a phone number any where in my state, therefore rendering useless. More than one month later, y'all TOOK 89 dollars out of my account for service I never could get nor would I want. I am asking for the ENTIRE 89 dollars and change refunded IMMEDIATELY. That was a unauthorized use of my credit card. I had to close that card but still have the paypal prepaid that you can refund my money. I appreciate your quick response in this matter and thank you.

FreedomPop unreliable service

I will never be dealing with them again. Never never never.
Most people who work at their customer care department don't speak a proper english and you don't understand what they are trying to tell you. But the worst thing that maybe they pick up the phone and reply to emails, it doesn't make sense anyway. They are very unhelpful and useless. So if you have an issue, be prepared, that you will have to resolve it by yourself.

FreedomPop phone service sim card never arrives

When your SIM card never arrived after 15 days, I called customer service and the rep says we don't have customer service over the phone, just go online and fill out your issue on the internet. What a major joke that was !

I called back and another lady at sales said we only do Sales here so please call your credit card company to get your refund for a SIM card that never arrived, because our company told us not to refund potential customers...

Run away from this so called Company. Please run run run away and get your money back before the government shuts them down for criminal activity.

FreedomPop unauthorized, fraudulent charges to my credit card. service that simply does not work.

This horrid company sold me a "refurbished" iphone with a 30 day money back guarantee, and battery was 79% depleted. Within 2 days I complained and requested a refund. They assured me that a good-working replacement iphone with a good battery would be shipped. The replacement was worse than the original. After many, many emails I finally received an email acknowledgement that I was entitled to a refund, and that a prepaid return would be issued. After returning the phone I was informed that the length of time had elapsed and they would not issue a refund. So, they have the phone, and I have nothing. To add insult to injury, after the return they proceeded to charge my credit card for a year's service. Not only do I not have a phone but there is no phone number associated with my account. I have hundreds of emails from FreedomPoop, many of which contradict previous ones. This company is clueless where it pertains to cell phones or the public.

Fraudulent charges, false claims, inferior service, complete lack of support. This is an abomination of a cell phone provider. It is a cell phone provider from hell. It's fine to vent here, but the Attorney General of California needs to be contacted with your pertinent information.

Yes... I have tangled with Freedompop. I had one several years ago but don't recall the details. More recently, a year or two ago, I suddenly was getting billed $5 a month (maybe it said 4.99, if that matters) for no apparent reason. I disputed the charge, and that ended the service on that phone.

I have multiple phones, and most recently, my special promo 1.99 per month for data rollover jumped a dollar, and then the next month it jumped an additional two dollars. So, 150% increase within 2 months.

Clearly, the Freedompop model is "1. Lure them in with FREE. 2. Charge stuff sneakily. 3. Make it hard to downgrade. 4. Make it hard to contact them. 5. Threaten total cancellation if you don't submit to their completely arbitrary charges.

I'm lucky... I'm out just several dollars here and several dollars there. For now, I have danced their dance and have filed a dispute. If I don't get satisfaction, I will cancel entirely AND dispute ALL charges.

Buyer Beware... I know they have to make money, but this sneakiness and criminality is ridiculous!

This is what I just sent to FreedomPop:

I was going through my bank statements and was appalled to find that FreedomPop has been charging me $32.98 per month since I joined up back in May 2017.

The ONLY reason I joined was because I was told that the use of your services was free. I am on permanent disability and was getting free cell service with Assurance Wireless.
I was given a smartphone by a friend when he upgraded his phone and I contacted FreedomPop to see if this phone would be compatible with your service.
I was told that it was and the ONLY charge I was told there would be {and therefore the ONLY charge I authorized} was the cost of the SIMM card.

Shortly after I joined, I lost the phone. Since it cost me nothing, I never bothered to replace it. I doubt I made more than 2-3 calls with your service TOTAL!

With this e-mail I am demanding that you cease and desist charging me the $32.98 per month and also refund the 5 months I've been charged. It's ALL UNAUTHORIZED!

I will allow 48 hours for a reply to this demand and then I'm going to the Better Business Bureau and the FBI's on-line department citing internet fraud.

FreedomPop no help

I called FreedomPop customer service because I needed their help and assistance. When I called their rep said they everybody was busy at the moment and asked me to call back later. When I called again they gave me another phone number and said I need to call and someone will assist me. Ok, I did as they said and called the give number but no one picked up. I called their support again and told them that my patience comes to an end but they said there was nothing they could do right now because all supports were busy. With what? These people are absolutely useless! If you need any help you will not get it from FreedomPop!

FreedomPop this is clearly a scam!

FreedomPop is the worst service ever. Recently I received a message saying that I was in a roaming area and need to buy a PIN number! What a joke? What roaming area? When I contacted customer service I was told that was a mistake and they fixed everything. Then the Internet stopped working! Have been calling for over 2 weeks trying to get a customer service representative and have been on hold for over an hour and still nothing! And now they are charging me for the Internet that is not even working! This is clearly some type of major scam! Freedompop is absolutely terrible!

FreedomPop hotspot device model 500

I ordered a Freedom Pop hot spot device to obtain internet access and I was never able to obtain adequate connection. I paid $150 for a deposit against access time, but was promised I could return the product at any time for a full refund. When I called requesting a return merchandise authorization, I was told I could not return the device because there was a 30 day return policy. There was no mention of a 30 day return policy in my original agreement. If you decide to do business with Freedom Pop you need to insist on a complete copy of their return policy.

FreedomPop after you purchase, the seller continues to take money

Don’t buy from www.Freedompop.com! I have placed my order, which cost $37.99 and $125.99. But the main problem is that the seller continued to take different sums from my account after that. I checked my account every day and found new charges. It is inappropriate. I don’t know how to stop these charges. I tried to contact the seller, but his mail box was full all the time.

FreedomPop fraudulent billing practices,$66 worthless hardware

I wish to resubmit my complaint against freedompop for the edification of your viewers (edited for missing phone #'s, addresses, attachments)
Dear complaintsboard,

— — latest 2014 ad/billing scams of 'avant-garde' reseller of sprint 3g/4g network — — — wireless services in conjunction w/ mobile hotspot sales — — —

I purchased one of their freedompop overdrive pro 3g/4g mobile hotspots in sept. of last year ($66), & was using it successfully until this june when they told me they no longer acced debit cards (?) that leaves me w/ a $66 piece of worthless hardware that I can no longer use! not only that, on june 4th & thereafter, they made four fraudulent debits on my credit card, even after they told me they wouldn't accept it!
this sounds like a roundabout way to make profits (by cancelling a monthly revenue stream by knocking the knees right out from under the customer!) but I am not a ceo of an unscrupulous company, so I wouldn't know?
can I request an investigation/inquiry/ referral/ post on your blog? regarding this matter (fraudulent business practices), as I contacted them, but they do not wish to pursue my complaint aggressively, much less refund the money they stole from me ($66 for hardware proven worthless, plus four fraudulent debits on my credit card, see attachment, $10, $10, $3.99, $16.97!)
although I do not think I am entitled to judicial preference (refer for criminal prosecution), in order to be considered a felony in california, I believe the embezzlement has to be over $950 (?). I wish to resolve this matter in a timely manner, as opposed to not receiving any response whatsover?, & if I do not receive a refund, then to warn off potential customers not to patronize, use, or purchase any of their scam merchandise/services!
they brag about being in the forefront of 'bringing internet to the masses', consumer activism, & providing 'low cost' wireless data pricing in the industry... it's basically an advertising ploy to lure unwary customers hook, line & sinker into their website.

regards,

Jeffrey wang, complainant

FreedomPop scam merchant fleeces unsuspecting customer through creative billing options

dear sirs,
re: addendum to my complaint against this scam artist mobile hotspot company

I will try to locate their actual address (somewhere in southern california?) to furnish you along w/ any other pertinent contact information (emls/ph #'s/ website addresses/etc). Also, I would like to point out an interesting advertising ploy that I thought was very effective! (In fact, I bought it hook, line & sinker!- I shelled out $66 to buy one of their worthless devices!). I am not saying the device didn't work, I am simply stating that they turned around mid-stream & told me they no longer accept debit cards, leaving the customer high & dry, w/ a device he no longer can use? (paperweight?)

IN their advertising sales promotional materials (website?), they tout community activism & to "bring internet to the masses"? What a crock! it's all designed to lure the unsuspecting customer to buy their hotspot devices, only to stab them in the back months later, saying they no longer accept debit cards (no personal chks, or bank ATM cds. either!)... THis is all a bunch of malarkey designed to lure victims into their showroom to buy their products/services! IT'S A SCAM!

In lieu of the above statements I am submitting this complaint to request information on how to resolve this nightmare.in lieu of the fact that I am not planning on contact my congressman (I usually use Dianne Feinstein, I have gotten some good results from her in the past), I am contacting the FCC (I believe this may fall under their jurisdiction?);the FTC; Michael finney (& on your side), the BBB of san diego, ca; www.PeopleClaim.com; & any other agency that you could recommend to me, as I reallly want to nail these guys into the wall? (this gang of thieves would make BlackBeard's crew look like a girl scout sailing regatta), thanks, jeff ([protected]@Hotmail.com)... ph#: [protected]

FreedomPop deceptive business practices

I wish to inquire the correct address to send my complaint( one of several in the next 3-6 mos), regarding the billing practices of FreedomPop.com, a website which allegedly sells mobile hot spots( hardware costs $66 + associate data plans of your choice). I purchased their 3G/4G mobile hot spot & data plan(about $28/mo. I believe) last sept, 2013, & was going along pretty well( used my prepaid debit RUSH visa card to fund my payments). Then, this Month, they told me they no longer accept debit cards( only legitimate credit cards, vis a vis, VISA, MC, AMEX, DISCOVER, etc). Also, no bank ATM debit cards either. SInce I now cannot use the hot spot, it is a worthless piece of junk, & they wouldn't refund the purchase price!( they said they would send a small $20 consolation fee upon return of the mobile hot spot?). Not only that, I found out they actually the nerve to make 3 fraudulent debits on the card, after they told me they no longer accept it!
Although, I don't think this is necessarily criminal or illegal, it certainly smacks of defrauding the unsuspecting customer, because they don't issue a disclaimer on their website, that before you purchase the device, they do not accept debit cards?! SInce I do not hold out much hope of a response from this sleazy hot spot merchant, much less a refund($66+ $3.99+ $10+$10 ), & they certainly are too slippery for criminal prosecution, do you know how I can publicize this high tech scam, to warn potential customers of the fraudulent business practices of this company? thanks, jeff ([protected]@Hotmail.com) cell#: [protected]

FreedomPop refund

I paid a $53.99 "refundable" deposit on a device to connect to the Internet. The service was slow and customer service was horrible. I returned the device by mail. (The company advertises that the device can be returned within a year of receiving it for a refund of the deposit.) The company acknowledges receipt of the the device and now two member of customer service have given me two different stories on why they will not return my deposit. Antoine insist that I have an outstanding balance and that they will only refund my deposit after I pay my balance. I told him okay deduct the balance ($10.00) from the balance. He said he was unable to do it. Then Ryan contacted me via email on 2/1/2013 informing me that I did not follow "proper procedure" in returning the device and that they will test it and "may" refund my deposit. This company has slowly drained my bank account with extra charges on their so-called free Internet provider site. I expect this company to either announce that the device does not work in order to keep my deposit or fabricate charges on my account that will nullify any refund I may have gotten. FreedomPop are a bunch of cheap scammers.
They offer 500mb of "free" bandwidth to surf the Internet but nickle and dime you and charge exorbitant prices for more bandwidth and services when that time soon runs out. Next, their customer service is a joke. They are slow and unresponsive when you try to contact them. Lastly, they have a rewards program that does not reward you. The program is set on the site so that you can "earn" more surfing data by fulfilling offers by their partners. The problem is they only reward you a tiny percentage of the offers you complete. They only "rewarded" me with about 10 percent of the offers I signed up for. Now I have a ton of spam coming to my email that I am not interested in and these creeps are trying to swindle me out of my deposit. Stay away from this con.
