I work for GC Services. I know many of you get annoyed at us but we are all not rude or have poor business matters. The reason we call are to get in touch with the person in collections. If it is a wrong/bad number we must verify the number before we can remove it from our system. We have to our we could loose our jobs. Also the reason we have to say that its a personal business matter is because it is actually the law. And if QA or the client heard us say that so n so are in collections we could get fired. Its not an ultimate job for sure but remember we aren't bad people. We also help people buy sending them to different departments that can help there needs if need be.

GC Services calls and wants me to tell them who I am before they tell me why they are calling. I will never tell someone on the phone my address & information without knowing who & why they are calling.

Hope they stop!

amanda,

They have to verify who they are speaking to b4 they can continue with the call because in most cases it is sensitive financial information and they have to make sure they are talking to the right person and not a third party.

I am sure that they told you who they are, how else do you have the company name? They are required to verify by birth date or ssn to make sure they are speaking to the right person. After all, would you want them to tell someone else that you failed to pay a bill? Or any of your personal information? It is to protect you.

John Smith you are a joke and obviously a shill for one of these companies. Go get your GED and stop making your way through life on the back of other people's debts. Every situation is not the same. You're at the best laughable. A quick review of your post history is quite telling indeed.

Why don't you idiots get rude back at them, call them whatever you want, hang up on them and then call them back and back and back again. The best defense is a good offense. Hit them hard and hit them often. When their down on the ground kick them again.

GC Services keeps calling my home for someone who does not live at my address. I get 2 to 3 calls per day. I have made the selection the number on the phone that tells them that that person does not live hereto no avail.

All you need to do is send then a Cease and Desist letter. Google it. 3rd party agencies are highly regulated by the federal government.

I really dislike this and any collection company, but I have a supposed bill to pay and cannot get in touch with them since I changed my #. Does anyone have their contact # so that i can get rid of whatever debt they are trying to collect from me...

Well, your first mistake is working for GC Services. The law says it is unlawful to lie to people on the phone. So you get no sympathy here. The GC Services parasite's just threatened to sue me on the phone for a bill I don't owe. I have a file about an inch thick of letters I have sent to other agencies offering to satisfy the debt, no agency would settle.
So I am hoping they do sue me because I have the information I have. But while I am there I will report the misrepresenting phone calls I got from them, which are all documented.
I would also be happy to get affadavits from all who have complaints about this agency. I will enter them into evidence in court as character references.
I have been trying to take care of this for a long time.

GC Services keeps calling. When I answer, the line is dead. I have to call back to talk to some body. They have called about 20 times in the last week or so on these numbers:

[protected] seven times between jan 22nd and 23rd
[protected] six times between jan 17th and 18th
[protected] seven times between jan 10th and 16th

I tell them each time I call back that I'm not the person they are looking for!

GC Services is a debt collection agency and has a reputation for being extremely aggressive in their collection efforts and often unscrupulous collection tactics!

Do you have an account (i.e. credit card) that has fallen delinquent? If so, the creditor may have forwarded your account to GC Services for collection efforts. If so, request a Debt Validation Letter from GC Services and do not agree to any payments over the phone or without getting something in writing first from them!

If you have not received a collection letter from GC Services - I would suggest running your credit report to find out if one of your creditors has forwarded an account to collections.

If you are 100% sure you do NOT have a delinquent account with any of your creditors and your credit report doesn't show anything to support this then you have every right to tell the collector from GC to stop calling you. You can also send a Cease & Desist Letter and file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) per your rights afforded to you by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Good Luck,
S.L.

Got a letter from GC services about an unpaid ticket. Called them and payed the amount including $300.00 for colletion fees. They refused to give me a receipt, confirmation number or anything to prove that I have payed my dues. They are unprofessional, rude and simply dont care. I hope that enough complaints generated will have someone or some government agency look into this.

I was recently hired at GC Services, LP as a HR Manager, I found that a lot of the employees who work for GC are really interested in helping people remove debt, I worked in the Student Loan division, and they created several programs to help people rehabilitate their bad debt; however, I have also seen the other side of this, some employees can be pushy and take issues more personally then they should. Overall, I would say it is not a company of bad employees but more over poor leaders. There is more than one way to skin a cat and you certainly don't have to be rude to help people rehab their debts. Last week I was let go, if you will, I made a report about one center manager making inappropriate racial comments regarding hispanic and black people and they fired me then offered me a letter of reference, a bit of a mixed message. So I would say be polite to those who are polite to you and realize they are just trying to do the job that the company is paying them to do. I am sure we have all been in a position once in our lives where we accepted employment and it was nothing like what was presented to us. With unemployment rates being so high and the market looking the way it does, we shouldn't knock the people who are just trying to make a living for themselves and their families.

I called GC services regarding two tickets, though I had multiple surgeries and I was not working I offered to pay the two tickets in full, but the representative was so mean and disrespectful and told me that I could not pay just the tickets because now GC services tacked on a whopping extra $300.00 per ticket now I can't pay them all I have is my savings of $600.oo and I am still not working. I think it is too much for them to charge double in paying, during this kind of economy GC services should be kinder to the people that are having troubles and want to take care of the debt.

They actually owe me $390. I was helping out a friend with a payment cause she didn't have a bank account at the time and Both me and the operator agreed that my informaiton would be deleted after that one payment. They actually took 3 payments. After each payment my friend consulted with them to erase my info. Since that didn't work, I had to close my account. several months ago I requested a refund or it would turn into legal action. They said it was processing. That was early in 2008. Never again

GC is only interested in helping themselves. My experience with their personnel and practices is that they will do anything to try and force someone to pay a bill regardless of whether or not there is a legitimate reason for not paying. They stoop to the tactics of calling any family or friend they can find and repeatedly calling that number even after being told the person is not there in an effort to bring pressure on the person they are pursuing. They have suggested my daughter charge her disputed bill to my credit card and have no interest in hearing that the doctors failure to collect was his own fault for failing to file a simple WC claim within the allowable period (over a year). Everyone else got paid so why didn't he? HMMMmmmmm.

First and foremost, individuals attack collection agencies world wide over there own inability to pay their contractual agreement. I will say this, pay your debt and you will not receive collection calls! Its that simple. You rant and rave over collection fees that are applied to your initial principle. Ill inform you right now its not GC Services fault. We do not buy your debt, we are contracted by the client to simply collect on an account that most people have no intension on paying back to begin with. You are upset over collection methods. Quit screening your calls. Own up to the fact that you are being persude to pay what is rightfully owed to the client. The client has done their part and extended their hand out and assisted you in providing services to you. Its only logical that you fullfill your end of the deal. I laugh at comments over collection representatives being un-educated, if we were that un- educated then how did we find you? I will admit there are some people out there that are passionate about their job I am one of them. We may have a certain aggressive nature about us while collecting but unfortunately if your pride isnt challenged then you still will not pay. There are some collectors out there who do not have the act for the job that do result in harrassment. I can assure you that they are repremanded and usually cease their employment. But you all read too far into it. Simply pay your debt and collection calls STOP!

I have been trying to resolve some old tickets that I have been paying on (even though I am unemployed). I still am managing to pay, but I can't always pay the same amount. Anyway, my last payment was an online payment where I paid 300.00 on 3 separate tickets each in November 2010. So anyway I skip one month due to stress of the holidays and me being a single parent and just involved in an accident where my car was totalled. So I have no car, no job, and I am trying to survive in a small town as a single mom where there are literally NO jobs available. Anyway, so I BORROW money to make a payment and I usually pay online but it wouldn't allow me to. I call the courts and they said it was referred to GC services *this is LA County courts*. I go online to gc services ecourt online payment to make payments on everything but its locked and I can't access it. So I call them. I get transferred 3 different times and they won't even ALLOW me to speak or even ask a simple question. Ok fine, so I finally get to a person. First they were extremely rude, didn't understand them because the girl was super loud and had this obnoxious power trip attitude from the beginning. All I wanted to do is make a payment and get an immediate receipt. I like to know my payment isn't going into some big black hole (its BORROWED money so I don't feel right about just offering my debit info or check over the phone) They tell me the only other way is to send by Moneygram at the nearest CVS, and so I did. I called to clarify that if I made ONE payment of 150.00, that it would go to 3 separate tickets for 50 dollars each. The person said yes. Spoke with 2 different people just to be sure. A Miss Rodriguez and Rosa "Something" (you can't understand anything they say even when you ask them to spell it out) I paid today 150.00 by MoneyGram and though I do have a receipt I still feel as if my payment went into outer space somewhere because when I called back to give them the reference number for the payment, they started with the threats of WAGE GARNISHMENT. I CALLED THEM they didn't call ME! I am in full cooperation and I was then told that the payment was pending but that it went to only ONE ticket. To make matters worse, I wanted to make an additional payment online once this payment had posted but it hasn't posted yet, and so here I sit wondering if I just paid into the black hole or what. I don't know how these people are in business when as a cooperative customer you are treated like garbage even as you are PAYING! DON'T THEY GET IT! If you are nice you'll get PAID. Some people are obviously idiots who have no intention to pay their debts, but don't screw with those who are WILLING! If I can't trust the company to post payment as they promised, then I have no incentive to give them a DIME! Every penny counts for me right now, and I'd rather NOT DRIVE than throw my money away. Thanks so much! If there is someone at GC SERVICES who is a decent human being who ACTUALLY is WILLING to help resolve debt without being a jerk by all means send me a message. But I have friends who are attorneys THANK GOD and I will document every little detail from here forward. If you employees are so helpful why don't you tell us where to call for help to actually be treated respectfully. Which department is it that is deemed SO respectful? So far I haven't seen anything online but complaints.

GC SERVICES is no SERVICE at all. They are there to act as the COURT's bill collection dogs. I laugh at the ### talking all high and mighty about loving his job, reaping the benefits of intimidating people into giving MORE money than what it's owed. IF a ticket is $10.00 it should REMAIN SOMEWHERE in the vicinity of $10.00 GODDAMN dollars. The court system is a government sanctioned intimidation machine. THAT is what they are. NOW, GC Services doesn't even apply to MY case. I got an extension and have still got 3 months to pay the COURT's BLOOD MONEY and am sent to collections anyway? I DON'T THINK SO. At this point THAT is called GOVERNMENT SANCTIONED INTIMIDATION AND HARASSMENT seeing how I am not DUE yet. Don't trip pontificating saying you're doing society a favor. You are only helping yourself get a paycheck out of squeezing people unable to play the LAW the way LAWYERS IN COURTS CAN. Civil Assessment FEE to you for your idiotic TAKE on an industry that profits off the misery of others. And DON'T even begin to say that Bill Collectors are helping people out: 1. Accounts are bought by Bill Collectors for pennies on the dollar, where the largest portion is actually going straight to Bill Collector pockets. 2. SINCE WHEN DOES RECEIVING PHONE CALLS AT DINNER TIME, HARASSING YOU, TRYING TO SHAME YOU DESPITE NOT BEING ABLE TO AFFORD MEALS FOR YOUR FAMILY, RENT, OR TRANSPORTATION, WHILE being JOBLESS...since when is that helping people?

I will say that the first person I spoke with at GC Services (who claimed to own student loan debt I later found out was owned by another company to whom I make monthly, on-time, direct deposit payments) was really cordial and professional. Once I figured out the discrepancy and told them and then blocked their number from calling me, however, they went to lengths that I'd characterize as harassment -- calling former colleagues (found via LinkedIn), family (found via Facebook, I think) and friends purporting to be someone looking for me to offer me a job. Terrible, terrible, terrible. And, I didn't owe them! Everybody's got to work, make money, feed their families, so I can't hate on the folks that have to make these calls. I hope they hate it and if they don't, I hope the recipients of those calls are giving them the what for. I'm sure Danny, Marisol, Chris and Dave had dreams of more fulfilling work and most of them are probably not overjoyed at the prospect of being belligerent on the phone all day and being yelled back at in return. Pretending to be a potential employer looking for folks via their friends and family, though? That's just dumb because seriously, who's putting their dad down as a professional reference? Cover blown 2 seconds after someone came up with that idea and told you to open your mouth with that lie. Maybe some people are dumb, but not most people, and this kind of stuff makes you LOOK LIKE A SCAM/SHAM. Just all balls to the wall liars. If I think you're a liar a priori, am I gonna call you back? Am I inclined at all to find myself falling for your story? Nope. Not. No. If you're really collecting on bad debt, just be better. Most people want to pay what they owe and be responsible. Don't be a dick.
