I booked a hire car (via an agent called DoYouSpain) from Goldcar to be picked up from Malaga Airport on Thursday 13th Oct 2022. The desk clerk as usual tried to sell me their own insurance which I clearly told him I did not want as I had my own purchased in England. Later he asked me for my credit card which I assumed was for payment of the excess amount that is blocked on the card. This is stated when you first book with DoYouSpain and was for the amount of €1,100 which I was quite happy to pay as we have aIways done this. I went ahead and signed the contract. The actual signing of the contract is done on a tablet now so you don't see the full details easily at all. The contract is then printed out afterwards. I did not read the contract and therefore did not realize the clerk had still gone ahead and put Goldcars insurance on it without my say so. He never pointed it out to me to confirm the charge, I just trusted the man was doing his job in a properly and honest way. It was not until halfway through my holiday when I was checking my bank account that I noticed the charge of €223 had been placed on my credit card.
I have since gone through complaint channels with both DoYouSpain and more appropriately Goldcar and received no joy even though I was able to send them proof of my English insurance documents. This whole matter has been very stressful and left a foul taste. I understand though I am not the first with this type of complaint. I would appreciate it if you could investigate.
Goldcar Contract No. [protected]
I would send you copies of the contract, my insurance and their responses but your page does not accept the PDF format they are in.
Desired outcome: Refund of €223.
