Subject COMPLAINT/CUSTOMER SERVICE

Re:- New 82" UHD TV... Retailer, Hirsch, Somerset West, WC.

Having agreed, last Friday, to deliver and install a new 82" UHD TV, FOC, as per your/LG promotion. The following morning called and HIRSCH demanded R900 for said FREE promotion. Then a further R500 to deliver said TV, as we were outside HIRSCH/LG allowed distance criteria.

Then ensued a lengthy heated discussion as to the terms of the stated LG promotion? We asked for confirmation from HIRSCH regarding same.

We were then offered delivery ONLY. We were NOT happy with this arrangement and was informed that if that if it was NOT satisfactory we would have to arrange and fund collection and installation of TV ourselves. They declined a full refund.

Having been forced into the 'delivery only' option we arranged delivery for today, 15th Feb 2022.

We are pensioners and not sufficiently adept to install and set up an 82" UHD TV. I arranged for assistance to be on hand to lift said TV when delivered. We live in a very large Dutch house so space is not a hindrance.

What follows is the blow by blow account of the delivery.

Bakkie arrived and two black workers alighted. the TV was lifted off truck and brought into our lounge.

The delivery persons then opened and removed the large sliding top cover box to reveal the TV. I then checked screen and surround for damage.. No damage was found. The protective cover was removed from the screen and the mains plug connected to the mains.

The TV screen then lit and appeared to be working correctly with no cracks etc visible. Delivery guy insisted in taking phots of same. The TV was immediately switched off, the delivery person took out the mains plug, and draped over the top of the TV. The delivery men then repacked the TV, i.e. placed the polystyrene packing back on the top of the TV, and then slid the outer cover box back over the TV, pushing it down hard over the base plinth.

So far so good. TV stood in the lounge for approx 1 hour.

HOWEVER. When my installation guys arrived, we again removed the covering box and cover unpacking the TV again. The legs were secured and the TV lifted from the base plinth and placed on our 2mtr long TV cabinet. Plenty large enough to accommodate an 82" TV.

The TV was connected and immediately it became clear that the screen was cracked. I have pics of same.

Having investigated It would appear that the initial crack corresponds with the position of the mains plug which was draped over the screen, when the two, unqualified, delivery Muppet's forced the surround cover box back down over the TV and onto the plinth. The TV has NOT been dropped or hit by anything..

The fault was reported immediately to the salesman at Hirsch Somerset West.

They have been nothing but totally unhelpful and flippant. "Its down to you", "we will send you a quote for a new screen"... NEW LG SCREEN R20k. Cost to me of replacement TV R25k... HIRSCH/LG your criminals and hustlers..

HIRSCH immediately denied any and all liability regarding same, have lied blatantly as to the delivery saga, and have offered No assistance whatsoever, save to inquire from LG the cost of a replacement screen.

We are in the process of cancelling the credit card transaction, HIRSCH you will have to sue us.

I am about to take to social media, Hello Peter, and Trust Pilot.

DONT LISTEN TO OR BELIEVE ANYTHING THE SALESMEN SAY. THEY ONLY WANT THE COMMISSION.. HIRSCH ARE WELL KNOW FOR THEIR DISINGENUINE BAD SERVICE AND NON CUSTOMER CARE...

DONT ALLOW MUPPETS TO DELIVER OR INSTALL YOUR TV... THE TV's ARE FRAGILE AND NOT WELL MADE.

Desired outcome: WE WANT LG/HIRSCH TO REPLACE THE TV AS THEY/THIER EMPLOYEES WERE/ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE SUSTAINED TO THE TV.

Hirsch's Dishonest Sales Personnel

Hirsch's Edenvale-dishonest service
Sales rep forgot to order the Stove I asked for. One last unit available in another store but didn't call back to notify me that the stock was taken.
Sold me a more expensive model and upon opening up the box turned out to be the original model I wanted. Shocking sales strategy at the expense of the customer.

Hirsch's Poor service

Did a claim for a washing machine we purchased that needed to be repaired under warranty. We received extremely poor service not returning phone calls or emails. Finally when we got a date for the technicians to come out we canceled all our appointments to be available and they just didn't show up and then phoned us to say they will come tomorrow, as if we can just take off from work whenever we want. We have been trying to get a second date arranged with them and no luck, just not interested and no sense of urgency with them, we have been without a washing machine for 2 weeks now this is pathetic, the ladies name that I dealt with is Swasthi at the Hilcrest branch.

Desired outcome: To have my machine fixed ASAP or they must supply me a new one as states the consumer protection act.

Hirsch's Washing machine

If there was a ZERO STAR I would have given to #HIRSCH UMHLANGA. I was sold a washing machine on lies. I was told it was a quick machine and 40 minute wash. Same day used it. It was absolutely loud like a plane and 40min wash was actually 40 degrees not forgetting the trouble vibration . I was sold something totally opposite what I ask for. 2 weeks later I'm still battling with hirsh to get a refund. I WAS ROBBED. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SALE. NOT THE CUSTOMER. HIRSCH UMHLANGA SHAME ON YOU

Hirsch's Television hisense 43 inch smart

I bought a hisense 43 inch smart tv for r4600 on 2016/12/13 from ballito hirsch's which has 4 year warranty and I took a 1 year extended warranty for r499 on the same day to have peace of mind should anything happen. Go down the years my tv started showing lines on the fifth year which is the extended warranty year I phoned the store and layed the complaint they booked a day for the technician to come check it up on the 07/10/2021 the technician came he checked it up took photos and told me it cannot be repaired and the store will contact me and definitely give me a brand new tv I waited. The next week a lady gave me a call from hirsch's saying to me I need to pay r1800 for a new tv I insisted that I could not pay that amount because I already paid r499 for an extended warranty she told me theres nothing she can do that is their policy I must make up my mind and let the store know my desicion when I asked for a refund voucher she said she could only give me r3000 and not r4600 and cut the call the lady's name is rasheeka

Desired outcome: 8 I go home do my calculation and the real amount is R460. The next day 06/11/2021 i go back to the store to see the store manager to get a refund of the difference to be told i will only be assisted on monday 08/11/2021

Hirsch's repair of LG dishwasher

Phoned the repair centre and a repair man came out but the problem has not been resolved yet. The repair has now been left with no further comunication from their side. A quote was needed to be supplied for a new replacement motor. nothing has been comumicated thus far. we have been left in the dark concerning the progress on the repair of our machine.

Hirsch's New purchase

I hv been to the store several tyms
The price on Google is still the same...
I was given a discount of R500
Which l refused bcos l cam qualify for 10 percent discount.. In fact the very same fridge is cheaper else n plus free delivery...
I went inline.. No helo from Elisha..
I hv moved to my 5 homes n in very soin in my 6 home..
I always sell my home wud all appliances n l rebuy all from... Which store... HIRSCH AGAIN...

I am seriously ill...l still come out to hirsch to buy. ... The guy who was supposed to be there on that sat. Knew l am coming but didn't inform me is off...
So a new guy came to help.. Bcos of my illness l cudnt repeat myself.. D9 l them l come back... Wen l went back 2 weeks ago. These sales guys are crooks... I was many tyms in the store e n l watch how the try n Crook things for themselves.. Like upping mg the price of an item n money in their pockets.. Possibly shared...
I asked the Elisha abt the fridge she was also conned or l hv no idea
If l see anything cheaper elde where n its exactly the same sixe colour model description n l go to hirsch theu mstch the price.
All l am asking for is the price l see... Plus my 10 percent pensioners discount..

Hirsch's Strubens valley poor service

Posting on behalf of my brother-in-law as he is not getting any joy from emails or Facebook reviews and in all honesty the feedback receivedto date from Hirsch's is shocking and disappointing to say the least - "I had the worst experience on the 6th Sep 2021; I went into Hirsch's to buy a washing machine. I dealt with a salesman there and he was very good, but from there that's where everything went wrong. I then pulled around into the Hirsch's loading bay and gave my receipt for the item to be brought out and loaded. I then waited for the machine to come out and then when one of the loading employees brought it out, none of the other employees whose job is to load the appliances / products came to assist. They blatantly sat and played on their cell phones and the employee loading the machine requested me to assist, so I was forced to help with loading the machine and no other employee would assist the gentleman who brought out the machine. I had no option but to help him load the machine and as a result I fell getting off the van, resulting in severe injury to my ankle. To make matters worse while trying to hold myself up in excruciating pain, not one employee came to assist me or even bothered to assist me to load the last box and close the van. They literally all just sat there and looked at me and watched me pull myself down the van to get in the cab and try call my Wife to come help me, load the small box and close the back of the van.
On leaving the store my wife went in and called the manager, Kershen, to tell him what just happened. Kershen then went to review the cameras and said he would call us later with an outcome. That afternoon, Kershen called my wife and said how disgusted he was by the video footage, as he saw how the staff didn't even bother to load the machine with the employee, nor assist me when I fell. They promised me feedback on the investigation of the incident and someone from head office would contact me (which never happened). Once we arrived home after having my ankle x-rayed in casualty, I was diagnosed / sustained torn ligaments and tendon damage which requires me to be in a moon boot for 4-6 weeks, as well as physiotherapy on a weekly basis until fully recovered. Which affects my work as it requires me being on my feet all day.
We had the machine off loaded at home to find that the lid on the machine was broken. Bosch then came out and said it was a manufacturing fault and the new lid would not fit. After waiting for Hirsch's to contact us about our machine we contacted them via email about the incident as well as costs regarding my injuries, to which a director by the name of Scott replied to say it's kind of their fault and their staff get distracted sometimes, but they will not take liability but if it was something of theirs I tripped on they would take liability but because I was exiting the vehicle after helping their staff member load something they should have done it's now my own fault. Scott had so little interest in the incident that he didn't even bother to refer to me by my correct surname and rather referred to me by my wife's maiden name which he also couldn't even spell correctly. If he had actually reviewed the attachments we sent on our email, he would have seen my surname on all the medical documentation and the Hirsch's receipt. Eventually on Saturday after having to be firm about having my washing machine replaced, they had a new one delivered. What I have come to see is that when I went to buy from Hirsch's, I was told this story how they care about their customers because they are a family owned business, which turned out to be absolute rubbish because they didn't even bother to call and follow up to see if I was okay - It was just deniability. All they care about is the bottom-line and the whole caring family organisation is just a show. I have attached Hirsch's response to this review so if anyone has been injured in their store by tripping over something and you can have a claim as they say in the email from the director that they would take responsibility. If anyone reading this review has suffered an injury at Hirsch's, based on what is categorised in this email from the director and needs a copy of the email stating they will take responsibility. Please contact me."

Hirsch's DNA Slow Juicer

I have sent my juicer for repairs to Hirsch Fourways
And I fetched it today ( 21 /09/2021 )
The juicer is working, but I found the top of the juicer cracked.
It definitely was not cracked when I left it at the customer care.
Not sure how this will be sorted .

Hirsch's My washing breaking and the poor service.

My washing machine broke in August. I purchased less than a year ago. It has been over 3 weeks and I have not received a loan machine. I have had to go to laundromats, family's homes and have spend R1000 in fuel and fees to wash clothes. I have a 4 month old and I am no down to my last R200 and it's not even middle of the month yet! No compensation and no sense of urgency! I use reusable wipes and I have had to turn to buying disposables! I don't have transportation as my husband and I share a car so now I have had to drop him off at work so that I can have the car to do laundry which has resulted in double our normal fuel usage ontop of driving around to get my laundry done! I have to do a load minimum a day. You try go 3 weeks without a washing machine which is also a tumble dryer. I spent R9000 on this machine assuming that would be the only cost involved!

Desired outcome: To be compensated! Something small like a detergent voucher would have been appreciated to show some kind of compensation!

Hirsch's Samsung Fridge spare part (Compressor) Insurance Assessor confirmed the compressor was dead. below is my complaint

1)Samsung Fridge SN A37641AB301305H
2) Model RL43W1H
3) Offered 6 months guarantee on the Compressor ( this influenced my decision)
4) 21/08/21 - paid R1100.00 for manufacturers original compressor
4) Paid a further for a Hirsch Technician = R1308.00
5) Was offered 3 months workmanship guarantee from the service department
6) Total Bill R2508.00 = Receipt Number 3282141
7) 24/08/21 Repair performed by Hirsch Tecnician (Imraan)
a)) Replaced the Compressor
b) Welded all pipes
c) Filled the Gas
8) Note prior to replacement the Technical confirmed the compressor on the fridge was dead
9) 27/08/21 fridge stopped working (3 days later)
10) The Technician (Imraan) came on site and confirmed the new compressor was faulty
11) Contacted Hirsch (Umgeni branch) spoke to Ms Yourika (968) and Nathaniel
12) they informed that the Compressor DOES NOT come with a guarantee.
After presenting my confirmation i was offered 6 months guarantee.
strange responses emerged, that i was wrongly informed of the guarantee.
I am being seriously prejudiced a i dont have a fridge, on the 25/08/21 i stocked my fridge that has now been spoilt.
I seek some response on the resolution of my situation.

Hirsch's Product & service

Hi,
On 8 July I ordered 4 chairs, priced at R239 each on your online site (#[protected]). I called one of your stores who confirmed it to be a good deal and actually recommended I order the chairs as on sale for this price. So very confused? My understanding of CPA is that the price you see is the price you pay? But not according to Hirsch's it seems.

1. This item was displaying at this price for a number of days.
2. You allowed me order and pay for these items.
3. You processed my order and indicated the items to be ordered and awaiting stock from the supplier (7-14 days to be delivered to store of collection).
4. You took 11 days to notify me of this error (19 July).
5. My order status has changed to complete and actually has a printable invoice attached to my order. In the world of online that indicates the order has been processed? Seems as though your online store is the exception to the internationally benchmarked rule?

I get a generic email related to my order cancellation, not even having the decency to call and explain YOUR error! My order was due for collection this week? I've bought items to complement these chairs? What now Hirsch's? Utterly disgusted and your poor service and experience, and as a first time customer I will NOT be a returning one that's for sure!

I'm sorry but this unacceptable and I won't be accepting this, I want my order as so indicated to be on it's way.

Can someone please advise next steps if you even respond to customers? Looking at your response stats, your interest in gaining and retaining customers clearly isn't part of your business strategy!

Hirsch's Samsung 65" 8K LED

Good day!
We bought a Samsung 65" LED TV for our boardroom in the office, on the 28th of February. With moving offices we only got to set the TV up a few weeks later, when we switched it on a broad line displayed on the right hand side of the TV. We reported a technical fault, Samsung technicians came out to have a look and they said that it needs to be replaced as this is a technical problem which came with the TV when we bought it. Samsung said that we will receive our replacement within a week. When the time passed, without any updates, I decided to call and follow up. I was then told that there is NO STOCK, anywhere, and we must take the TV back to Hirsch's in Umhlanga (we reside in Richardsbay) and they will decide from there what the next step will be. I tried to get Hirsch's to tell me what the options are going to be if we do arrive there, with what they are planning on replacing this TV. After numerous calls and promises that they will get back to me, I haven't heard anything. Yesterday we got told that they will give us a Store credit and then we can decide from there what we want to buy! This is unacceptable as we bought this TV on discount, now we will get R40 000 store credit but need to pay in between R10/15 000 to get the exact same specs? This is not acceptable... We bought this TV and it was sold to us, one cannot buy something and if there's a fault you are told sorry there's no stock! The store need to have a plan should there be a fault, to replace it with whatever! We are not going to pay in to have the TV we bought which came out with a factory fault. How can this matter be resolved as Samsung says they cannot help us, we must deal with you directly? Ref number: [protected]

Hirsch's Hisense Tv

My TV has been in for repair twice in one month already, it's only been two years since I bought that TV and the store does not want to take responsibility what am I supposed to watch in the mean time, they take forever just to give me updates I have to run after them all the time I really regret having buying at hirchs SIlverlakes because I thought they sell quality products. I mean who buys a TV that will only last you for two years it's really unacceptable.

Hirsch's Poor service from Hirsch Springfield Park

I purchased an LG tv from Hirsch Springfield Park on the 24 April 2021 brought it home did set up and the tv goes off. It has sound but no picture so I contacted LG on the watsapp number as it was after 5pm. They responded that a technician will be in touch. Sunday they called asked if we can take it back to Hirsch for the LG technician to have a look or must the technician come to me. We took the latter as Hirsch is a 2hr drive from us. Monday technician had a look at the tv and said it's a faulty PC board they will replace the tv. Wednesday morning technician said credit has been passed and Hirsch will be in contact to send new tv. Kerry from the store called and advised that they can only deliver on the 3 May 2021. I was upset but they couldn't help with any alternative. So today I have taken the day off waited til 2:30pm and called the store as the tv did not arrive. Kerry says she will follow up . 30min later she calls to say the drive broke down hes gone back to the warehouse tv will be delivered tomorrow by 12pm. So had I not called I would not have been updated now I have to take a 2nd day off work to wait for the tv. Spoke to the manager he cannot help with any alternative. The driver will try and fix the van now and deliver if not then only tomorrow. I am taking 2 days off without pay for something that is not even my fault. I paid R 16 000 for the tv they have my money and my tv and I am staring at a broken tv from the 24 April til today. Worst service ever I will not shop there again. Thought Hirsch was a respected name sadly I have been disappointed.
I must say LG was quick to respond, kept me informed all the way and kept their word. Service was provided well within their 48hr turnaround time even with a public holiday in between

Desired outcome: No expectations from the store. I will not shop there again and will definitely tell everyone I know about my experience

Hirsch's Poor marketing strategy.

I am totally dissatisfied with your marketing strategy. Advertising a massive sale countrywide by attracting customers and not being able to sell the item advertised either because it's sold out or simply there no stock. Unlike the older days whereby the cost of fuel weren't as high and innocent customers simply just had to accept their time wasted. Today I drove a mere 100 km to a branch at 10am to purchase a Samsung washing machine that was advertised and surprising enough when I got there I have seen the actual machine with the low price as advertised. When I decided to make a cash payment and approached a salesman, he was showing me the features of the machine until he was interrupted by a colleague salesman who said that it was sold. He immediately removed the price advertised and convinced me not to worry as he was going to arrange for a similar Samsung washing machine. Being disappointed that the item I wanted was sold, I waited for the salesman to return as he told me that he was going to arrange a better price for another machine. I almost froze when he told me that he would reduce the price of another machine which was still substantially overpriced. If I hadn't done my research and had an idea as to what a normal selling price is, I would have been taken for a ride. This is daylight robbery as we are living in such tough times. I am very upset with Hirsch. I would definitely not recommend anyone to buy anything from Hirsch.

Hirsch's Grundig Premium 90CM Gas Cooker

In March 2020 we purchased a AEG Gas Oven from Hirsch's Milnerton. The unit arrived damaged and we sent it back. The second one arrived damaged as well and we sent it back also. The third one was also faulty and that was sent back. We then went back to Hirsch's, paid in R 4000 and purchased a Grundig. The Grundig arrived at our home, also damaged and actually looked like a secondhand unit. There was a name and address of another customer on the unit. We sent that back and they exchanged it for another unit. Yes, 5 Ovens in two weeks. Crazy. 8 months later this unit started giving us troubles and we contacted DEFY directly whom are the agents for Grundig. DEFY repaired the Oven and off we went again. Now a few months later the oven started giving us trouble again and we complained to DEFY again. DEFY has since told us that the unit cannot be repaired and has authorized an exchange from Hirsch's.

Now we are trying to part ways with Hirsch's and want our money back to go and buy an oven elsewhere, yet Hirsch's refuses to refund our money and is simply offering us a Voucher or we have to pay in again to buy another brand of oven.

Hirsch's Poor customer Service

Hirschs needs to evolve with current tech 🙄

I told their consultant that I'll come in for my refund and again reminded him today. Nowhere does he mention that my card would be required

Anyways that's the least of my problems,   I cannot phantom why in this day and age big Corp like Hirschs require a customer to walk in for a refund, 2 why it took 4 weeks to process it and WHY in this day and age my card is still required to effect the refund.

I paid for the goods 3 months ago meaning the funds cleared then so why would you still require my card?

Secondly there's new tech paying with smartphones  what happens then.

3rd whether I have my card or not that should not be a detractor.  I shouldn't have to debate an eft refund in this day and age or even walk in for that matter

Hirsch's I'm complaining about BAD services

I went to Hirsch's on Monday15-03/Thursday16-03
I have reported that my SMEG refrigerator is not working it's not making any cool air, everything is working but not cooling, so they say that they will send someone out to come and test it, 2 DAYS later. The guy said that it's a big problem and the first time for a SMEG to have no gas, he will report it immediately, so i'm waiting a again. After 2 DAYS again I phone them again to follow up what is going on STILL NO WORKING REFRIGERATOR.
So how long do I have to wait for any replay from HIRSCH'S on what are the going to do.?
I just can't go another week with NO REFRIGERATOR.

SO PLEASE DO YOUR JOB AND GET BACK TO YOUR CUSTOMERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE it's not that difficult.
