Houzz pro
Houzz Pro is a total rip off. I signed up for an annual subscription as a cabinet maker based on what the sales rep suggested would maximize my leads. Since signing up, I haven't received a single lead - not one - from Houzz Pro. For the exact same time period, I received 14 from Yelp's trial version and actually sold a large cabinet project in that time. Note that I went through the entire profile setup with Houzz Pro with the exact same photos, website link, as Yelp. I even created a video on Houzz Pro which they recommended.
Also, I suspect that Houzz Pro falsifies its website referral data. The Houzz Pro reports show 20 referrals to my website. But, my own website only shows 1 site visit being referred from Houzz Pro for the same time period.
Yet another problem with Houzz Pro is that even though I am only one of five cabinet makers who actually pay for Houzz Pro in my market, I am listed on the last listing on page 3 of search results among 63 pros. That means that pros who don't even pay for the Houzz Pro service show up listed ahead of me. So, what am I even paying for?
And yet another problem with Houzz Pro is that their own technology idoes not work. When I went through the pro search feature as a Houzz User (not as a pro), their website does not always return search results. Instead, you get an email that recommends you call a concierge number. I imagine that is frustruating for Houzz users who are homeowners. The reps are trained to say it is because pros IP addresses are blocked. That's BS. The same result happens when you try a different device with a different IP address,
Still another problem with Houzz is that when you search for "cabinet maker", a bunch of interior designers show up in the result. What the heck?
There's plenty more I could write, but Houzz's roof is on fire. Let the mofo burn.
Desired outcome: Let me out of my contract.
PRO
Kevin Gilispie and Huong Mai both of HOUZZ PRO are key players when it comes to screwing around with your contract.
10 1 22 - I want out of the automatic updated contract terms. Multiple conversations for greater than two months and still you wont can the contract and refund my money. Why? I am told to schedule an appointment for phone meeting so I do. Of course its "recorded" although they can't seem to follow the conversations when it comes to the customers needs. 12 -26 22-You have changed the terms, sent me notice, and I don't want to be a part of your deceitful practices. I want my money back and the contract CANCELLED. You tell me to fill out form and sent it to Pro notice. I fill it out. Automatic send when finished. As soon as I hit send, I get a message back there is no such email. Please this is ridiculous.
Desired outcome: CANCEL HOUZZ. Refund Money
False advertising, bait and switch - sofa purchase
Loveseat ordered on 2/11/22, and "Top Grain Leather Chesterfield Sofa, Slate $3,594.00 on 2/26/22 from Houzz. I disputed the Sofa purchase on 3/6/22 because the delivered sofa was Black not Slate. See Slate v. Black image.
It was a nightmare to return the sofa. Instead of the Loveseat, a single man delivered a SOFA. It was at 8.21 pm on Sunday, 3/6/22. He alone could not bring it into the office and left it in the main corridor. He was told the sofa was being refused but he ignored and left it in the corridor. A SOFA (order #5225) NOT A LOVE SEAT (order # 0946) was delivered under paperwork for #0946);
On Monday, 3/7/22, due to sheer incompetency, HOUZZ was unaware that a SOFA (ORDER #5225) was delivered under LOVESEAT ORDER (#0946) until I informed them. On 3/8/22, I sent photographs of actual black sofa and slate picture on website. See Slate v. Black image.
On 3/14/22 Houzz insisted it was the correct product (TGLCS Slate) and it is black; Cost to return is $ 325.00 + tax in original packing. Workers had discarded the huge box on 2/26. It was too late when we realized it was the wrong color. A new box cost $150.00 + return shipping $325.00. "
It took up to 2 weeks for Houzz to agree to accept it. On 3/29/22, "Will accept if professionally packed. If unable to source professional packer, merchant will charge $150 to package + $425 for return shipping cost." On 3/31/22, I emailed that "Previously $325 plus tax; now $425 + $150 for packaging. Not agreeing to any return shipping costs. I shouldn't have to pay for anything since I ordered slate sofa and received black sofa. Slate and black are 2 different colors. I'm trying to locate box and packaging for the return pickup and haven't found it yet. Provide manufacturer's name to coordinate packaging with them." On 3/31/22, manufacturer rejected return "This is past the return window.
Houzz engages in false advertising and admits so. It states that "the correct item was received." If the correct item was sent or received it would be a slate in color not black. If Houzz intended to accept the return it did little or nothing to facilitate the return. I was proactive in timely communicating with Houzz about needing a huge 3 seater sofa box and the cost of the return (almost $400.00); it took days for Houzz to reply and then very conveniently stated that the time to return has passed.
Because of their deceptive practice, the purchase was placed in dispute with the credit card provider. Houzz then REBILLED item which was not discovered soon enough; the cc provider mishandled the refund request.
Now, Houzz responds "As eight months have passed since the item was delivered, we are no longer able to assist." Clearly, it wasn't willing to refund it then and now its convenient excuse is its 8 months.
Product support for deteriorating product: outdoor furniture
Ordered 7 piece outdoor furniture set from Mango Home via Houzz.com. Price and delivery were no problem. Within a year the 6 chairs and cushions started to "weep" and reddish/brown discoloration that washing with water did not remove. Did not use any chemicals as we are unsure of cause. Deterioration occurred on all chair and cushion surfaces exposed to the sun. MangoHome phone disconnected and contacted Houzz with their order # and related information. Resent info via Express mail to CEO of Houzz (Adi Tatarko) and no response after 6 weeks so recalled Customer Service (HA! What a misnomer that is!). Agent said CEO "too busy to speak with customers". Said CEO was probably too busy to send our complaint to anyone also. Wouldn't provide any information until she verified who we really were! Wanted email address, phone number, original order # and date...NO Problem as we have all that and provided it BUT THEN said we needed the credit card we originally used or she could not provide any help! Credit card was replaced since original order due to being hacked but she said she could not verify us but saw a response in our record that she could not relate until we were verified! Still unresolved issue! Don't deal with this company if you can avoid it. No place on their website to report negative responses.
Desired outcome: Response from Houzz.com with a resolution of our issue. Requested either a credit for the chairs and cushions or a replacement.
Houzz pro account - marketing
On August 15th I contacted my sales rep Michael Vaughn to cancel my subscription with Houzz because I honestly believe that the leads Houzz are sending me are ALL scams. I should have canceled this a long time ago. This has been a big waste of money and I no longer wish to receive any more horrible fake leads!
His response to me was, "I hope you are well! In regards to your subscription, cancellation is done at time of renewal. Your account will auto renew each year as it has done since you originally joined Houzz Pro. I have marked your account to not renew your subscription next June and want to work with you in the meantime to make sure that your experience is a positive one! Does this still work for you? Are there any additional markets or categories we can look at adding on complimentary for the remainder of your current subscription?"
My response I was never informed of auto-renewal. Next June 2023 is not going to work for me. The problem with the Leads is that every lead is fake! So why would I want to expand my reach? I did some googling and saw that there have been many complaints against Houzz on this topic. You may want to reach out to your team to let them know that if you continue these sorts of business practices that the designers and other people trapped by Houzz will likely file a legal complaint against Houzz.
He did not response to my 2nd email disputing the auto-renewal or to the comment about fake leads. If you are a designer or trade professional reading this, then I highly recommend that you spend your marketing money on your website and with google because it is my strong believe that the leads are not real, just like the fake followers on instagram and twitter. Houzz only wants to trap small businesses and brush under the fake leads under the rug that they are scamming us. "Does this still work for you?" No! and I am very upset that I've been taken advantage of since June of 2020. I paid them $7,200, and now they expect me to pay another $3,000 until June 2023? This isn't right. Designers unite! I will be thankful when this scam is uncovered. I will gladly sign up on a class action suit against Houzz for their fraudulant business practices!
I did not agree to Auto-Renewal. In the past I received an email and had to click a link and digitally resign my agreement for a yearly subscription. This took place last June of 2021, and this is what I expected Houzz to do again for this June of 2022. I would not have continued my subscription with Houzz again.
Furthermore, another complaint I have heard from other designers is that when you terminate your subscription, Houzz takes down their profile. Prior to this I had a free profile for about ten years with a good amount of 5 star reviews. There is a petition going on in New York by designers who are trying to make Houzz stop these harmful practices. Houzz is no longer what it was ten years ago. Now they have AIs sending us fake leads to trick us into paying them money. This has got to stop!
Desired outcome: June, July and August invoices to be refunded in the amount of $900, and to cancel my subscription and leave my profile untouched as a non-paid designer like it was in the past.
I am a designer and have used HOUZZ for over 10 years. It was a great investment at first BUT lately my leads are getting less desirable AND fake leads have become the norm. Which I have spoken to a Lawyer about and that is fraud. I was sent a lead 2 weeks ago and the address was a VACANT LOT!
Who else has experienced this?
Pro Services
I'm a Decorative Painter and continue (reluctantly) to pay for their Pro Package for a few years now. My personal experience is 70/30 , Bad/Good. Bottom line is the high fees I pay up front give me enough exposure, leads, and promotion/office tools , along with a [decent ] website to cover fees and profit to convince me to re-enroll each year.
However .
The site seems to have way too many widgets, so many that they often fail trying to use them in the simplest of tasks ; Almost always, I spend hours trying to resolve simple issues; nothing works as it should, leaving you with repeating error messages, or it just plain doesn't work ! - and then you are forced to ask for help from your always changing "Success Managers" or whatever they call them now, and good luck getting a quick helpful response, or one that doesn't involve countless emails to IT or different Reps chiming in - it's scattered and terribly inefficient. I've remarked many times to various Reps., " Instead of introducing constant upgrades and changes to form and features,, JUST GET THE BASIC OPERATIONS TO WORK . "
If you find a similar promotional business that actually WORKS, I'd love to hear it.
Desired outcome: Streamline your basic features - constant problems with operation.
rip off
Back in January 2022
i was contacted by a representative name CHRISTINA PAGE.,
we agreed on a price for my advertisement, my husband and i had agreed to give it a try for 3 months, 3 months passed never got a call from her or any client i tried giving her a call, email her and no response ,
after paying 4 months i sent her a cancelation email thats when she reach out to me and i came to the news that she had me register under a different business name, i had been paying for another company .. she apologized and said customer service was going to reach out to us ,, never did until know JUNE 2022
i am still getting charged ,, i just called my bank yesterday to cancel my card ..
terrible service
Houzz pro
I have an architecture firm and I was looking for a project management solution. Houzz has a project management platform but they do not have any free trial to try it out. The sticker price is $109/month for a 12-month contract but the rep talked me into signing for a 50% discount if I pay for the entire year upfront. There were many features that should have replaced services that I am already paying for so I agreed to the contract. I tried it for a couple of months and realized that it was complete crap. They have a ton of cool features but no feature was quite fully developed and I ended up needing to keep all of the programs and processes that I thought I was going to be able to cancel.
Long story short after the first couple of months, I stopped using it and forgot about it until I started seeing the monthly $109 transaction in my bank account. I reached out to see if I could cancel and they said that I am stuck in a one-year contract for the new amount but I can request to cancel for the next contract! This is another $1090 that I have to throw away for a service that was worthless from the beginning.
Desired outcome: Cancel the auto-renewal contract.
Cannot get Houzz Pro to cancel our auto-renewal membership
We have been with HouzzPro since 2019 and have not been able to use even 1 HouzzPro lead. I have tried for several months to cancel this program and keep getting the run around. They auto-renewed the account even after I told our rep that we did NOT want to renew in April again. Now I cannot get any answers as to how to get out of this "contract" since it is set up as a 12 month contract. I am SO frustrated with this company! We have had absolutely NO return on our investment and want out!
Desired outcome: We want to cancel this membership immediately!
I am going through the same frustration, and there is no way around getting rid of them, please if you found a solution let me know!
Censorship of benign comments
As a longtime subscriber, it was a surprise to find that unless I’m signed-in, the comments I’ve made on design stories are often removed/not present. Unless, that is, unless the comments are 100% flattering.
I’m discerning and not mean-spirited, but even the slightest hint of a critical comment will find that comment ghosted from a piece. Only discovered this by using a different computer to see a story within which I’d previously made a comment.
Pretty thin skinned and speaks poorly of any relationship with users of the site.
It makes Houzz less than authentic.
Really disappointing.
Desired outcome: Stop censoring or own the practice. Unless a comment is mean, it’s disrespectful of any implied collaborative intention/idea sharing.
Pro Subscription
Houzz is trying to hide contract terms under double talk and unclear policies. Stay away from them as a contractor
I enrolled in their Pro services in 2019 and paid for the annual contract for 2020. The terms in my agreement contradict each other and do not abide by California Consumer Protection law 17601(c) defining "Clear and Conspicuous" requires the terms to not be the same, size, font or color as surrounding text.
Also section 17602(c) "shall be allowed to terminate the automatic renewal or continuous service exclusively online." This is not being done, there is no easy way to cancel online at all. There is no pre formatted email provided for cancellation. You cannot change or cancel your subscription via the "subscription Manager" at all. Their revised terms and agreement state the only way to cancel is to send and email to their general pro customer email address which contradicts the service agreement. The law requires and ability to cancel online exclusively but Houzz does not have this.
As a California resident and business owner I have to abide by the state laws so why shouldn't this online service provider.
Houzz has sent me notices about my payment not going thru but they never sent me notice about my renewal or the options. I new that I was signig up for a 1 year contract for a discounted price. The terms "skate" around the truth of what you are enrolling for.
The worst part of all this is that I have not even used the service. I never used their service as a pro. I was never given a single lead, Nor was I assigned a so called "Account Specialist"
The Houzz Pro Program is nothing but a scam. As a sole proprietor I do not have the time to do double work. I thought I was going to get leads and that the services offered would be beneficial but they are not.
STAY AWAY FROM PRO SERVICES!
Desired outcome: All i want is for them to cancel the Subscription from the renewal date. Also I would like them to ensure that they add a cancellation button in the Subscription Management. It should not be impossible to cancel a subscription
Cabinet hinge returns
ordered cabinet hinges early March 2022 in 2 separate orders. Tried to return the hinges and had to wait 3 days to hear from the vendor. By the time I got instructions on where to return the hinges and get my refund, I only got a partial refund for one order $30 and not the $42 total and never received a refund for the larger $99 order. Had to work through Houzz, KnobDeco and Hickory Hardware. What a joke! Will never order from these people again. Buyer beware. These guys are scam artists.
Desired outcome: Full refunds
Automatic renewal on contract
Signed contract in 2021 December
For 1 year however
Houzz has automatic renewal
Not part of the printed agreement I signed
They sent a link that have additional terms but not part of the signed agreement
when you print the agreement They add a link with any additional terms
Contracted 3 different people at Houzz
The original sales person and 2 additional reps assigned to our account
No one was any help
Just sent link and said not able to cancel the contract for 2022 or to cancel automatic renewal for 2023
I have tried to write a review of my experience and Houzz has blocked me
Now I understand why they have bad reviews because they delete them and then block you
Terrible customer service
Everyone customer signs a contract automatic turn into 2 years
Desired outcome: Cancel 2022 and stop automatic payments Refund payments in 2022Cancel contract for 2023
Houzz Pro
Signed up for Houzz Pro Dec 2021. No one explained that the most extensive subscription does not actually include all of the features, some are only available in the "designer" version and some only available in the "contractor" version, but nowhere did it say there were even two version. It has now been 3 months, I have been unable to get adequate help on using the software, no one on their customer service team seems to have an idea of how the software was intended to work. Most had no clue features I was asking about even existed. I have been requesting a refund for 2 months now. I have spoken with two managers, several customer service team members, and someone on the marketing and research end. I have explained to all my frustrations with the system and with their customer service. It has now been a month since the managers said they would find someone to help me and work on my refund. Not one person from their team has reached out to me regarding this. They do not have a quality product and their customer service is horrible. Still waiting for my $780 refund!
Desired outcome: I would like a refund and for them to acknowledge that their customers deserve better. This system is supposed to be to help aid in people's businesses, not make it harder!
Can't get out of Houzz Pro page
I cannot access the Houzz page because it automatically logs into my account and takes me to the Houzz Pro page. I cannot escape this loop. I don't have an account on Houzz Pro and I don't want to make one. It won't let me do anything else. It just keeps trying to make me create a business account. I'm not a business, I'm just a person trying to look at home design ideas. I've tried going to different links, I tried to sign out of my account, I tried altering the address, but nothing worked. The page won't change.
Desired outcome: I want to be able to get out of the Houzz Pro page and actually be able to use my account.
Bathroom Vanity
I am a General Contractor who does a lot of kitchen and bath remodels. Recently a client had ordered a vanity with faux marble top. It was stored in their garage. When we opened it up to install, the top was in 50 pieces. Houzz refused to pay for a new one.
Identical situation with Wayfair, and they immediately sent us a new one. Stay away from Houzz, is my opinion

Cancelation
We signed up for a year, on the contract I have it only says - You dont need to worry about renewing we will take care of it - nothing about sending in notice 30 days prior or you will be stuck for another year. And I did send emails 20 days prior but "they never got the email" We never even got 1 good lead, Not one - we have no desire to continue with Houzz and would like our account cancelled immediately.
Desired outcome: Cancellation of account
Reliable Master Craftsmen
Warning to other consumers, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TILE WORK!
SEE PICTURES ATTACHED
Two week job took Six weeks. Contacted another tile person, his opinion "only way to fix this is to tear it out and start over".
On top of a bad job, they dented my refrigerator, promissed to replace the door and now wont return email or phone calls.
Desired outcome: Warn other consumers
Houzz app
Our architect that suggested I should download a app on my IPhone so I can see nice idea's and if I need to buy anything they have very good selections. I did download to app then I got stalked buy someone my phone was acting very strange so I deleted to app and sent a message to houzz. Today Aug 27th, 21 I got a email sent from houzz sending their terms and conditions like I still have a app which deleted almost year ago very strange.
Houzz Pro is a scam
As someone with a major anxiety disorder, I was coerced into signing up with houzz pro. They say that you are paying for advertisement of your services but it literally goes to no one. Just a bunch of loopholes to give you as little as possible while saying that they do the most. Please don't do what I did. Save your time, money and most importantly your sanity.
Kevin Gilispie and Huong Mai both of HOUZZ PRO are key players when it comes to screwing around with your contract.
