huntington bank wrongfully demoted me and terminated me after reporting sexual harassment and bullying
I was employed with Huntington for over 11 years and was very good at my job. I worked very hard over the years building my career and felt I made an impression on everyone I worked with and we were like family. I got promoted to the management team in 2009 and was loving life! I was in my position approximately six months when I was asked to move to...

My name is Todd baker, I opened a home equity loan with Huntington bank in 2005. It's been ok up until last month, In the last 7 years I have never paid any fee on this loan. However last mounts I was charged a $96.00 Annual fee? After calling the customer service line, I was told that they only can go back to 2011. According to Huntington no annual fee was charged both in 2011 or 2012, when I told them I have never paid an annual fee since opening the account in 2005, I was told that this maybe a bank oversight. What? You say you have a $96.00 annual fee, but have made on oversight for 7 years? Not sure I'm buying that! What a scam!

loc — refin denied after having it for 10 years
10 years ago I opened up a line of credit with Huntington bank that was actually attached to my home in Michigan, I used the money to go to school, which was 15K. I continued to go to school and would pay off and use the line as needed. In 2011 I was in a car crash which caused me to rack up over 30K in medical bills. Obviously that had some impact on my debt to income ratio. So now, I get this letter from a Mr. Kirkland in Ohio telling me that I need to re-apply for my loan as it has been 10 years and the revolving line is coming due, (which I didn't know they could mature). So with the banking industry tightening their lending criteria, I apply for the loan, now they deny my loan and tell me that my loan is being referred to the home savers program. It is interesting to me that these big banks can just decide to take away a revolving line of credit especially since it is secured with Real Estate. I am not one to normally complain and post, but this is absolute BS. When I emailed Kirkland about my home and how upset I was, do you think I received any reply back, of course not. I was simply a number for him and way to probably make some type of commission but since I no longer qualified I guess I was no longer important to them. This is all fine and dandy, once my lawsuit settles in the next year, I SWEAR TO GOD, NOT ONE SINGLE PENNY WILL BE DEPOSITED INTO ANY HUNTINGTON BANK, I WILL ALSO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE AND WILL RECOMMED DUE TO BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES THAT PEOPLE NOT PURCHASE THEIR STOCK. I have never been treated so poorly in my life by a place of business.

Yep just got the denial too. I'm a multi millionaire with an 800 credit score so don't take it personal. They won't communicate with you at all. I think frank Dodd legislation is largely to blame.
bad customer service
I opened a checking and saving account on Nov 3, 2012. I made $25 initial deposit and set up an automatic direct deposit to the new account. But I didn't see $200 cash bonus in my account yet. I sent an email and the following is the reply:
Dear ***,
Welcome to the Huntington Online Banking Message Center.
I would be happy to help further with your inquiry. When your checking account was opened, a promotional code was applied. This code provided a $200 bonus under the following conditions: a new Huntington Plus Checking Account type with a $25 initial deposit and either 5 debit card purchases or a direct deposit of at least $50 within 60 days.
The type of checking account that you opened in November was our Asterisk-Free Checking. I apologize for the inconvenience but you will not be able to receive the bonus because the incorrect type of checking was opened.
I just brought a coupon to the bank and a banker helped me to open an account. How do I know the checking account is Asterisk-Free Checking or not? I called bank three time and left a voice message three times and nobody called me back. I went to the bank where I opened account and I was told I have to wait 25 to 30 minutes. I was asked to leave my phone number and some one will call me back. But nobody called.
I called bank again and a lady said I direct deposited to my saving account. She will check if I can get $200 bonus and will call me back. But I never got any call.
I hope someone here can help!

kept mortgage app deposit
Applied for a mortgage loan. Loan originator was not responsive to questions and did not provide any help with the purchase transaction. It came to the point my realtor even commented that this LO was not getting it. Seeing that this was heading towards disaster I cancelled the loan prior to any other expense other than the credit report. No appraisal was ordered. The application fee was $500. Huntington kept the funds and did not refund anything and won't. After asking them why they feel they should keep money they did not earn or provide services for, the reply was useless.
I am in the industry myself and know they never cancelled my loan like I requested since they have never sent HMDA papers which would be required since I had all of the elements of an application including a purchase contract and property address.
This is an excellent example of how Banks continue to rob, steal and not follow the regulations in place. Since they are so big they think that they are beyond any affects of audits since its a numbers game. They violate lending laws and their is no civil recourse for consumers. Fines and pointed fingers do not scare financial institutions because the have coffers full of money taken from others they did not earn to pay the fines and to hire attorneys.
An app fee does not and usually is not refunded. Did you get your app fee back when you applied for an apartment? No. Because they are nonrefundable. Quit making excuses and read the paperwork they give you. It's just making you look stupid.

misleading information
On July 31st I get a flyer in the mail "open up an asterick free checking account and get $200 free bonus .(with stipulations) I had chase at the time but thought this was a great deal the flyer stated you have to set up "an automatic direct deposit of $1000.00 with in 60 days so I go online and apply for the offer and enter the promo code I get a pop up message saying I needed to call the bank to finish the account setup so I did . While on the phone I ask "does it mean 1 auto direct deposit of $1000.00 with in 60 days or does it mean auto direct deposit of $1000 with multiple deposits adding up to the $1000.00 with in 60 days " she says as long as you have direct deposited a total of $1000.00 within 60 days you will be good to go I said Great Because if it would have been 1 single direct deposit I would not be doing this today because I'm paid weekly and don't make that much lol so fast forward to sept 20 2012 my final direct deposit goes in my account where I finally hit $1000 I call about the bonus. GUESS WHAT. I'm not eligible it has to be 1 direct deposit of $1000 so I explained that I asked this on the phone and even said after the fact I get paid weekly and wouldn't be doing this if it had to be 1 deposit they say they will pull the call and listen to it 5 days go by and I get a call that they talked to so and so and she says she didn't say anything to me of that nature (lie) I kept my calm and asked them if they listened to the call the had the date and the time frame they say "we couldn't find the call" (gut feeling lie) she goes on to say so and so didn't open the account and it wouldn't matter if she said that or not I had already opened it 2 minutes prior ! I was ballistic ! So I say I'm closing the account and calling the better business bureau and filing a complaint and she might want to arrange not to find this call too I was misled and lied too I read the flyer and I like I'm sure a lot of people when your not sure about something you ask QUESTIONS and expect the truth. She knew I wasn't going to be able to meet the requirements for 1 single deposit because I said it to her that was the time to say it is 1 direct deposit ! sorry if its all mushed together the more I typed the more angry I got lol
their choice of appraisal company
Because of our excellent credit scores, my husband and I were asked by our local Huntington bank branch if we were interested in refinancing our home. Keep in mind, the mortgage loan officer approached us on the subject. Because we could get a better rate we decided to fill out the paperwork. Once she found out that our current mortgage was not backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac she seemed less interested and it took her over a month an a half just to get back to us after giving her all our initial financial information. Then, in our next meeting she took $350.00 up front from us for an appraisal. The company...Blouw Appraisals in Jenison, MI was assigned to do our appraisal. We live in the country on 10 acres, have a barn and horse/cattle fencing and approximately 1100 sq ft 3 bedroom stick built house with oak siding and wood flooring. All mechanicals are newer and everything is working. A guy comes out to our farm in a suit and tie, driving an expensive BMW. He spends approximately 15 minutes walking around. Our appraisal comes back at $46, 000. Now...I understand that some homes are underwater, but we were compared with foreclosed, vacant doublewides, a house that had a gaping hole in the roof, mold, wood rot, had septic problems, had three dogs locked inside during the day, and had been foreclosed on and vacant for over two years! I knew all this because the house was right next door to ours. My husband and I had asked the realtor about buying it and she said it was selling for vacant land value because the house needed a bulldozer! He also compared us to a one bedroom house seven miles from us that I found still listed and active on realtor.com. I spoke with the listing agent and he said he had no records of it having been sold in the past year. Why would you comp our 3 bedroom house with a one bedroom house over 7 miles away that according to the realtor, hasn't even sold yet and is listed for $58, 500? Why didn't he comp us with the 10 acres and house that Schultz Realty just sold in this area for $125, 000 with a comparable sized house? Or the house Shultz Realty sold on 5 acres for $130, 000.
Anyway, the moral of this story is...don't hand over $350.00 to Huntington Bank unless you ask which appraisal company they are going to use. If they are using Blouw Appraisers in Jenison...run far and fast.

rude and heartless customer service
Today 9-1-12 I went to Huntington Bank in Nitro West Virginia to deposit an money order and to get one in return for my rent. After the hassle I received over the blank money order it was finally processed. But the clerk was still a little unsure so she took the amount from my checking and told me the balance will be replaced after the money order cleared. After I explained to her that a money order is of cash value, she then revered it, and placed the money owed back into my account. Still I was unsure of her actions, I proceeded to the ATM to check my account balance. All moneys had been replaced, ten minutes later I had notice my ATM card had been left in the ATM so I went back to the bank at which to find out they where closed. A gentleman came to the door where I told him I had left my ATM card in the ATM he told me it was nothing he could do for me until Tuesday because Monday was a holiday and then slammed the door in my face. He did not try to help me in any way, didn't even try to give me a number to call, or anything. I felt hurt more then angry, I set in that parking lot and cryed, several employees walked passed me and didn't even try to to help me or show any concern at all. I do not want to believe that the reason for this was because the WVU game was on and the employees felt that they had better things to do, then to help me. I just don't understand what they can do for me Tuesday morning that he couldn't do for me today. Customer service is horrible at this particular branch, the one in Southridge is Friendly and Very professional. maybe the management team in Southridge needs to show the management team in Nitro how to conduct business in a profession manor.

You are real stupid. You could be giving the bank a fraudulent money order and the best thing is the bank put a hold on your account until the money order clear. As stupid as you are you do not need a ATM card.

mortgage
Huntington Bank is the mortgage lender for one of our properties. For the past five months, I have been receiving letters from Huntington Bank that our flood insurance policy does not meet the minimum requirements by law. However, the documents were incorrectly read by the reviewer an in fact the policy of $250, 000, 000 is over 150% of what is required by law. I have been calling the number provided for almost 5 months now, trying to get this issue resolved. I have been told repeatedly that someone will have to call me back as the call center cannot review my case, however I have received 0 return phone calls to date. At one point, I was told that the issue was resolved, and the charges to my account would be refunded and I would receive a letter in the mail within 10 business days. The letter never arrived. In the meantime my account has been charged over $8, 000 and that number continues to grow each day. Since I am unable to speak to anyone at Huntington that can speak to me specifically about my insurance policy, the issue still remains unresolved and I am left with few options other than to resort to legal action. I feel that I am being harassed by Huntington and excessively charged by Huntington for their mistake. In addition, I am pregnant with twins and this ordeal has caused undue stress on my babies and myself. I hope that this issue can be resolved soon before any additional damage is done.

atm usage
On July 1st, 2012 I went to the ATM located at 6705 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield. I went to withdraw $600 from my Chase card that has my unemployment benefits on it. I went to Huntington because it is close to my house. Wish I had never done that. The machine went through the whole transaction and did not spit out the money. And no receipt either...
Read full review of Huntington Bankaccount address/debit card
I have a PO Box for my mailing address to ensure my mail is secure while I am traveling for work. Recently I have been having problems with potential "fraud" on the account. And durring one of the many sessions to become "verified" a so called supervisor noticed that there was no physical address on file for my account. She added the address. Now it seems that despite my PO Box being the address associated with my debit card and all other accounts, my physical address is actually my "contact information" (even though USPS won't deliver mail to this address, same reason it took over two weeks to get my debit card-Huntington kept sending it to my physical and it got returned). So now whenever I make a purchase that requires me to enter my Zip I have to make sure I enter the one for my physical address otherwise it will get declined. Same thing happens for online orders etc. My billing/mailing address is my PO Box, not my physical. GET IT RIGHT HUNTINGTON! Needless to say I am waiting for an account with another bank to finalize and I will be pulling all of my money out of Huntington. The call center reps, supervisors, and managers are all useless even up to their complaints department who apparently work directly for the CEO. Not only do their systems need update, but so do their training procedures. I know more about Huntington's computer systems than any customer should have to know.

bank fees
My son worked in Columbus and did auto deposit from his employer for 18 months into his checking/debit account. He quit his job and moved back home to attend college, and Huntington started deducting $15 per month because he was no longer having an auto deposit. This went on for 4 months before he realized he was getting a fee for something. He had quit using his debit card all together. In all, Huntington withdrew all his money from his account, continued to deduct the $15 per month bringing him deeper in the hole, he had to pay $70 in fees. I (his Mom) went with him to the bank to figure this out. I asked them why they did not call him until today (Dec 27). I asked my son if he had any idea he would be charged $15 per month for not having auto deposit on his debit card...NO. I told the lady this was not right, and WHY DIDN"T SOMEONE CALL UNTIL DEC 27? I told my son to close account, sever all tied with Huntington. The lady said he had to pay all the fees before he could close the account and that the fees would keep adding up daily until paid. Then I told him "You are not the first to be screwed by them nor will you be the last". This is very bad customer service business practice. I wish I knew the right people to contact because this is just wrong.

I had my bank account with huntington in year 2011. I opted overdrft facity (a biggest mistake.) . I moved to india later and found fraud transaction. I tried communicating to Huntingtone guys and they said It can not be reinstated unless I personally come to their branch.
Finnaly they have closed my account due to non-payment of dues. :(

24 hr grace period
On 11/11/2011 was veterans day. I had some overdrafts on my checking account and because of the holiday I couldn't take care of the overdraft on 11/12/2011 the banks were closed because of the holiday. I called the bank 24 hr help line and asked them if I made a deposit by 11/14/2011 which is the next business day if the everything would be ok, they assured me that everything would be fine. I had an American Express payment that posted on 11/14/2011 and as a result the money that I deposited on Friday didn't post until Monday so my account was not a negative $100.00 I called the bank once again and to make sure that I would be ok and they told me at 6:00 pm in the evening that if I made another $100 deposit I would be ok, I don't know what banks are open that late at night and even if I had made the deposit it wouldn't have posted till the next business day anyway. All said and done I was charged a $150.00 overdraft fee despite my efforts to bring it current in the 24 hr time frame because of a holiday! It was veterans day and my husband is a 38yr veteran! We got penalized because of a holiday even after being reassured that we wouldn't! Their 24 grace only applies on regular business days, don't get caught in the holiday promises from Huntington, because you will be penalized!

I just posted about a similar thing. I unfortunately got bit by the 24 hour grace. Twice they have taken a charge that did put me in the negative then always take the last four charges, no matter when they are and say that they came in after the overdraft. It is horsecrap they do this to try and manipulate "pending" charges in order to make money on the fees they loose from 24hour grace. I am so done with this bank, but have resolved I will not leave them alone, ever. I will email a complaint everyday!
We just got ripped off by Huntington as well. They charged us over $100 in overdraft fees when we never even went below $1, 000! Even after their fees, we still had over $1, 000 in the bank. They claim it was due to "pending charges"! I think that everyone that has gotten ripped off needs to get together and file a lawsuit. I have all my paperwork showing that I am correct and the bank still refuses to do anything!
You had an additional withdrawn item come through your account on 11/14 that overdafted your account again? Sounds like someone needs a to teach this bank a lesson. Why don't they have 24 hour ATM, online or phone banking to transfer funds. At least offer free overdraft transfers from your savings account or offer checking reserve. What a scam. Banks should call us before they post our authorized transactions.
The 24 hour grace thing is a big scam! I woke up, checked my balance and saw I was in the red so I immediately made a transfer. The next day i had 3 overdraft fees. I thought maybe they would drop off or be adjusted the next day so I waited to call the bank. When nothing changed the next day, I called and was handed a bunch of BS. I was told my check was deposited but it was "pending' so it wasn't considered a deposit. The charges I made with my debit card, which were also "pending" were paid immediately to the merchant so - get this- even though they were "pending" they really weren't. So..."pending" is only used in their favor. I'm changing banks this week.
excessive overdraft charges
I screwed up! Overdrew checking, I am human. Too bad the bank policy is to charge 37.50 per item daily until the account is in the black. They charge this amount peritem for three days, then I had a 7 dollar charde.
What the hell!
Thanks for hittin us little peons when we r down. What makes you think I have that much money to pay the fees plus my bills?
How much did the ceo and friends receive in bonuses this past year?
By the way, never had this problem with overdraft in the 30 plus years I have been banking with you! So much for takung care of your loyal customers.
Think about the asterik I want to add below!
Ashley, it is quite obvious that you are young and work for Huntington. This is a COMPLAINT board, not a place to advertise for your bank. I am quite old enough to handle an account. Did you retire at age 39, you little twit?!? I love Huntington, been with them, as I stated, for over 30 plus years. I just think hitting up a person for OUTRAGEOUS overdraft fees (37.50 per day for three days then 7 bucks thereafter till in the positive) is ROBBERY OF THE PEON. CHARGING SOMEONE EXCESSIVE FEES WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY IS A KICK IN THE ###. Guess u never been there. Must b a spoiled brat.
I would just like to say Huntington Bank is the best bank I have ever banked with. The 24 hour grace is amazing! After all of the bad reviews I have seen, I have found out its lack of knowledge with people. Quit complaining about 24 hour grace if you dont know how to use it. They have a call center and banking offices to explain it to you. Also if you have online banking it clearly states you have to make a deposit to cover the negative balance and keep it positive to the following day. Its not rocket science to understand if your account is negative to make a deposit for what its over drawn plus all other items that havent posted. Dont try and play the system and pretend you forgot about a check you clearly wrote and when it comes through you get charged fees. Obviously you dont keep a register and balance your books. That may mean you are not grown up enough to have a checking account or you are one of those people who try to play the system and when it back fires you call to complain about the mistake YOU made. Huntington is the only one who has 24 hour grace to make things right for your first overdraw. No other bank out there does this. Either stop over drawing your account or cover what you over draw and stop complaining. It gets old!
discrimination
I am transgendered, and Huntington Bank refused to phone verify me because my voice sounded like the gender opposite their records, even though I had given them all of my account and identifying information correctly. Instead I had to mail my information into their corporate office (with even less identifying information attached).

overdraft protection - opting in
I opened a new checking account last May at Huntington Bank. I have liked the account and never had any fees, problems, or issues. I have heard about the new legislation where consumers now have to "opt-in" for "overdraft protection" for transactions on their ATM/debit card. I didn’t really know what that meant. I just always figured if you didn’t have the...

I received a crank call from someone who had my social security number and my checking account number. I consulted our local police and the Attorney General's office and they advised me to close my account immediately. I went to my local Huntington branch, explained the situation, closed the account and opened a new one. NOT SO FAST. First, they NEVER closed the account, Then the new account had a diiferent number on the account from the checks that were issued. I discovered this when a merchant verified that I had money in my account--otherwise, ALL the checks I would have written off this account would have bounced. Now I found that I'm being charged overdraft fees on my original account because THEY NEVER CLOSED IT! I went in the day I discovered this and asked them to close the account. They said the manger would handle it and call me later in the day. She never did. I called customer service and they said they would have the manager call me. Again, no call. I finally (9 days later) got the account closed, but they were suppoed to refund all fees. Didn't happen. When I called customer service (again) I was told the manager was handling this. Yeah, right. It's been two days and she hasn't picked up the phone. I closed this account to prevent theft, and so far the only one ripping me off is the bank!

overdraft fees
May 19th I had $67.05 in my Student Checking account (meaning no fees, no minimum balance). I then went and purchased gas for a total of $21.34 which left me with $45.71. I had no other pending purchases. I checked my account and was glad to see it had cleared, because I had some things to buy. I told myself I had to keep it under $45, and I did. I spent $44.73 (cutting it close, yes). The next day I get an e-mail from Huntington. I check and it says I've overdrawn. WHAT? I look at my account, and the 2nd purchase is still pending, as is the fee which is associated with the GAS purchase. After all is said and done they charge me ANOTHER overdraft for the other purchase). Keep in mind, each overdraft is $37.50. After the first overdraft I had $-36.52 in my account. Meaning, I clearly didn't go over. Though I already knew that.
I filed a complaint online and got a generic response. I don't even think they read my comments.

same thing just happened to me. If a transaction clears and they pay the money out, they can still leave the pending transaction in your account to say you overdrew your account. goes something like this. You have $50 in your checking account. You spend $40. They pay the $40 but leave the $40 deducted from your available balance for a day so when your next charge for $5 comes through (you still have $10 in your account) they say your account is -$30 and charge you the $37.50. It is how Huntington operates. i know of no other bank that does this. They only charge you fees when items actually post to your account, not pending items that 1)they already paid, or 2)that will never post to your account (like authorizations).
held my paycheck
When I moved back to Columbus, after 10 months working cross country after college, I went to reopen a checking and savings account at HB. Previously, I had an account with them for 20 years and worked for them for a year during college. When I moved back I bought a house and a car, thus emptying my savings account. I got a nice relocation package and...
