Refreshment stops
I am very frustrated as I have an ulcer and hunger triggers it a lot. I took the bus from Cape Town CBD at 07:30 am and the bus only stopped twice for refreshments, the last time it stopped it was around 1:30 pm in Mosel Bay, we are now approaching P.E and we are not given any chance to grab something yet the bus is an hour behind from the time it should arrive on the stops.
Please review the refreshment stops and amend where possible as some of us are unable to pack food before travelling.
Desired outcome: Reasonable times for refreshment, at least 1 stop before 7/8pm so we can have supper.
Bus arrived earlier without in informing passengers
We were supposed to board the Intercape at 23:55 in Keetmanshoop, we arrived at 23:15 as we wanted to be early.
About 00:15 we went to use the ladies and the staff at the B1Engen shop informed us that the busses had allready left past 9 o’clock.
The assistant first accused me of being late but the ticket states that we should be half an hour earlier. Then all of a sudden he tried to make me believe a message was sent that was not even true or my number. Then he also informed us that the bus is currently in Grunau. We jumped in the car and drove off and informed him we are on our way to Noordoewer to catch the bus. At Grunau we phoned again, and a lady told me that the bus is allready at the border? The next available space is only a week later. Our Accomodation is allready fully paid and we are supposed to be on a tour with my 9 year old son.
This is the most unreliable, unforgiving thing intercape has put us through. I want all my money back including my accommodation! As we all know there are so many unresolved matters on your website that this is just another one. Intercape is a total scam
Desired outcome: I want my money for my tickets to Stellenbosch and from Stellenbosch back as well as my accommodation money from intercape back that they wasted by neglecting to inform their customers. M

the ticket did not state under terms and conditions that there is no refund. it also did not state that you can move the ticket to the next bus 15 minutes before departure
Poor service/rude staff
The driver of the 220 sleepliner from cape Town to PE claims that when he stopped at knysna (my stop) he shouted from the upper deck of the bus that we are in knysna.
If he did shout he did NOT do it audibly enough for me to hear - I was sitting at the very back of the bus.
Because of this he has caused me to miss my stop and had to wait in plett do drive on a different bus back to knysna.
He claims that there were 3 passengers including myself booked for knysna on that bus but only 1 (me) boarded. Meaning he should have double checked.

I have forgot my laggadge bag on the bus that was comming from east london to cape town my arrival station was bellville and the last ticket number for bag was 811 and its a kway and the its navy. In side the is some clothes if a 14 yr old boy.
Intercape Irresponsible Driving
At 8:30 on the 19th of June 2022 - intercape bus (WITH A TRAILER) registration CY63402 overtaking a truck, on the N1 between Beaufort Wes and Cape Town, on a blind hill with oncoming traffic!
I have personally driven with this line, ONCE - and never again. Drivers that are incompetent on the road! Endangering so many lives around them. Personally I don’t understand how they are still operating.
Bus late! Connecting bus MISSED due to late bus!!!
I was suppose to get on the Intercape bus this morning at 07:10 (7/6/2022) in Heidelberg but the bus was 2 hours late, I had a connecting bus in Jhb at 9 to go to the Northern Cape. I missed my bus due to the bus that was late. Now I cant book another ticket because I cant get a refund. It is not my fault that I missed my connecting bus in the first place and its not my fault the bus was 2 hours late. I would like an apology and a refund. The lady I spoke to at Intercape told me "Its not right to book a ticket an hour apart" How was I supposed to know? Its the first time I had such an bad experience from Intercape with such rudeness from the lady. I have been a loyal Intercape client for the past 4 years. This is not right, I want my refund as it was not my fault for missing the busses.

Service when cancelling a ticket
Good afternoon,
I wanted to cancel one of my tickets because my plans changed.
I was waiting VERY long in the chat queue, but I was patient.
Then "RiRi" started to chat with me.
After he/she said hallo, I explained what I needed to be done and then I was holding on and on and on.
I later asked if he/she was still there. Nothing.
Then I asked if he/she was going to help me. Nothing.
And I was really waiting between the questions and was getting irritated.
Now I understand why the queue is so long and why people are waiting for so long.
I don't know if the agent was reading a book or writing an email or what, but his/her attention was definitely not on client service.
It really gave me a bad taste in my mouth.
Hopefully my trip by bus will not be the same experience.

Service and rude drivers
I am boarding a bus from Durban station now to bloemfontein, we waited for more than 2 hours for the bus to arrive, the next thing I am moved out of seat, for no reason, just for another lady to sit there.
The drivers and staff are extremely rude.
I am not happy at all with the service. And can they learn to speak English as not all of us are Xhosa or Zulu.
I am extremely disgusted.

The coldness in the bus #aircon
I'm from Cape town going to Johannesburg ...the aircon it's been on since we departured around 17:00 pm date 26 May 2022 its along distance drive and it's at night the bus is cold tried asking the driver to switch off the aircon but he told us the aircon it's not on and the heater it's not working ...as I'm typing the my hands are freezing and I'm fearing for little one's in the bus that they now coughing coz the driver opened both windows and the aircon now us passengers we freezing in this bus we as passengers we not happy at all.
Unprofessionally behavior from bus drivers and company
I am writing this email to notify the consulate of my current situation which might impede on my ability to be on time for my visa interview.
The Intercape bus I was traveling on from South Africa was scheduled to be in Namibia (Windhoek) at 8:45am today (Monday 23rd May 2022) in time for my interview. The bus drivers were stopped from entering the border and were told their paperwork is incomplete which resulted in all the passengers having to sleep at the border overnight and the problem was only resolved this morning at 5am and only then were we allowed to enter the country.
We tried to ask very nicely that they let us over the border because apparently the situation could be solved however it wasnt done so on time.
I find that so incompetent of the bus drivers and the company because trips like this cost us as passengers so much money and have important appointments to attend at various destinations. I myself have possibly lost a Visa application appointment because of this whole mess. I have lost my money and valued time for something which could have been prepared well beforehand. This whole ordeal doesn't look good for the company. On top of it all, there was no one who explained the situation to us, we had to ask the people working at the borders to explain what was happening and not even one of the drivers apologized to us for any inconvenience caused. Instead they laughed at us when we told them about our grievances. I feel robbed and extremely disappointed at the service of InterCape buses.
I'm going to report this on any possible social media platform and create awareness about this.
Bus drivers even get aggressive with us when we ask about delays.
Desired outcome: An apology to all the passengers and a full refund of the bus ticket to myself to apologize for any problems caused and financial implications caused because of this delay.
Unhygenienic

I boarded the 14h35 bus from Mossel Bay to Cape Town. There were cockroaches on the bus. The bathroom was so filthy and we as females could use the facility, water was on the floor, no toilet paper, toilet bowl was dirty on top and inside. The driver never stopped for any body breaks after Mossel Bay so we were left with sitting on a bus being uncomfortable and having the need to use a bathroom facility. This is unacceptable since we all paid to be on a bus with a clean bath, a hygenic bus without cockroaches running on windows or on the seats. I would appreciate your feedback

I would like to complain about the bus (Sleepliner) breaking down.
We had to wait for 3 hours for another bus to come and the bus that came was not a sleepliner which is something I did not pay for.
If your buses are not delayed they breakdown don't you take your buses for services to check if they are road worghy.
This is very upseting and all we get is an apology.
Desired outcome: Please refund and I would also like a proper apology.
Cockroaches on intercape bus

Donald or at least that is what he said his name is, the rudest diver I have ever come across. Very disrespectful. I am highly disappointed in his service. I thought Intercape trains their employees well but what I have experienced for the second makes me question. I have complained about this before and Intercape assured me it would not happen again.
My granny went on the bus with her grandchild. I understand that there isn't a way to reserve place, which I think you should start considering. But the bus driver told me to speak to the passengers and ask them, however he didnt even allow me on the bus to ask. He didn't adhere to protocol his mask was off throughout... He lit and cigarette and continued walking away.
I have moved busses but decided to come back, referring Intercape to my family was the worse possible decision. Eagler liner has given me better services before. Danold does not know the meaning of customer service. As I former capitec employee I have learnt what service is and he doesn't match working in a sector as such.

I have been using Intercape for a few years. Recently I was told that it is no longer possible to reserve seats on the bus but seating is done on a first come first served basis. My wife and myself are travelling together from Jhb to Citrusdal in the Western Cape in the next few days. This is a trip that takes almost 24 hours.
I have a problem with my feet and have difficulty walking and rely on my wife to help me get around.
I would prefer to be seated next to my wife but I am told this cannot be guranteed as the seating is on a first come first served basis. As we are getting onto the bus at its third stop on the route to Cape Town I very much doubt that we will find two seats together that are not occupied.
I ask too what are families supposed to do with young children, are they to have the children seated in different areas of the bus.
Desired outcome: I find this arrangement for the seating is not the best way of doing things on a long trip . please advise if there is a way of reserving seats when a person books tickets
Cold temperatures
The temperature of the bus is always at the lowest cold (lowered) degrees even if it’s in the middle of the night
When you ask the employees to increase it they reply in a rudely manner and deny the request . This happens a lot on the sleep liner bus
