refuses to refund my money
I admit that I am not the most savvy with technology today, however what happened to customer service and customer satisfaction? I'm new to the area and I received a few emails from match.com. I never thought I would ever use a site such as this one, but thought it may be a way to meet people in the area. I tried to navigate through their system, but personally do not feel it is user friendly. I believe they do it on purpose. Match.com is not clear in their terminology such as subscription versus membership.in order to use their account I had to give credit card information. I signed on after 9pm jan 12 and cancelled out early jan 16, 2018 at $59.94 for three months. Not even a full 4 days of usage and they refuse to refund me any money. I had no idea that this is how they do business and I read as much information possible on the site. I did not see a no refund policy. When I called customer service, the man on the other end offered no explanations as to why I could not be refunded for services I am not using. I asked for alternate phone numbers and persons to contact and was told there aren't any other numbers I can call. If match.com is such a reputable company then why don't they back their product? Are you kidding me? I was not getting goid matches, their web site is not user friendly and I think thwy use trickery with their words and meanings as well. I am so pissed off. I think match.com is a sham and any well respected company would gladly refund a customer's money if they weren't satisfied with the product. I was not and am not satisfied with match.com. There is definitely something wrong here when a company can keep a customer's money after 4 days versus a 3 month term. It is equivalent to being stolen from. I am not the only consumer who has experienced this brick wall behavior from match.com.
Is there anything at all that the bbb can do for myself and the many other dissatisfied customers from match.com? I would greatly appreciate it. Who do they think they are?
unauthorized charges
A charge for $79.92 appeared on my bank account without authorization from myself. I did sign up for a free service on OurTime website for over 50 singles and what I have discovered is that it has linked me to several other web sites that are not wanted and this is one of them. When I went in and tried to resister my complaint it asked me to sign up and did not recognize my information so HOW CAN MY ACCOUNT BE CHARGE FOR SOMETHING I DO NOT WANT? I want my information deleted from any and all dating sites and a refund of my $79.92 to my account.
dating service
I live on Guam. when I tried to sign up for Match.com in 2018, their system recognized the territory of Guam, but it also asked for a zip-code, which their system does NOT recognize. I tried 96921, 96910 and 96913, but Match.com said none of these were valid zip-codes for Guam. So I did what most people have learned to do who live on Guam, I put Hawaii with a Hawaii zip-code that worked. Guam should be properly categorized as a U.S. territory, falling under "GU" in the states selection (even though Guam is not a state, like Puerto Rico). Well, Match blocked my account right away. I wrote to them to tell them exactly what I had done, to be honest with them, not knowing if that was even the reason for my account being blocked. So instead of working with me, in a legitimate situation THAT THEY CAUSED, they terminated my account without explanation, which is really frustrating. I didn't know how to contact the company until I first signed up, but then when I signed up, they axed me. I think Match.com should have been reasonable and worked with me, but they didn't.
cant get in touch to cancel my subscription.
On Jan 6 2018 i joined match.com as a six monthsbasic trial. After filling in my card details for the amount of£59.54 and clicked next, i was then asked to click another box, when i tried to miss this out, was told i needed to, to continue. so i did and was horrified to find i had been charged another £59.54 for the upgrade, which i did not want. I tried to cancel my account as instructed but was informed that my account hadf only been suspended and i could reactivate at a later date when any subscription due would be taken from my bank. I dint want this, i want to cancel the complete subscription and be refunded my fee. I have treid numerous ways to cancel and after investigation have found their is no means of comunication with this company. On various sites it seems that i am not the only one trying to get in touch. I hope you can help me. Thank You. PS I have included a screen shot of my account .

activity after my subscription is cancelled
I am sick of match.coms deceptive practices. I've been a member since last march and I got basically zero activity. Shocking that after my subscription was over I shockingly get activity every 6 hrs baiting me into giving match more money to sign back up. This has happened in the past and it's still continuing. I am contemplating fileing a class action law suit against match because I am sure this is not just happening to me
dishonest company!
I had signed up for a 3 month subscription with Match. I was able to start chatting with a few people; however, after 1 month I tried to log on and couldn't. Come to find out, my account was closed and they claimed I broke their agreement, but they wouldn't give me details without a subpoena.
They refuse to give me a refund for the difference or to give me any additional details. Just look at all of the people that complain about this site. Save yourself the headache and don't join them!
unauthorized credit card charges
Hello,
I became a match.com member earlier this year and I have had a terrible experience. Trying to find matches was extremely frustrating because many of the profiles live on match.com do not have subscriptions and cannot message me back. Also I consistently did not get good matches.
I thought I had canceled my membership with match.com but I was charged again on 11/20 for a 3 month subscription. I have talked with multiple customer service representatives but so far everyone has refused to help me reverse the charge.
This is the worst company I have ever worked with.
unauthorized payment
I joined Match. com in December 2016, I cancelled subscription in may, I did not appreciate there were two sites aligned and paid both Match and Alliance. I thought when I cancelled one as your emails come up together, that both accounts would be cancelled.
I have phoned and confirmed cancelation again and would like a refund for £47.20 that you took out of my account on the 23rd October.
You will see from your records I have had no contact on this site for the previous nine months.
I look forward to a refund prior to raising a dispute with my bank
Many thanks

online dating
I think a lot of people who used match.com should be aware that most of the women are schizo mind game players and using the site can be traumatizing, there is now a term known as PTDD...post traumatic dating disorder. My own experiences of match.com have driven me literally to drink, being hoodwinked into thinking someone actually likes you and then they turn out to be a mental patient or they start talking to you, then stop and play mind games by staying offline or being online and ignoring you. The last three people ive met online have all been formerly committed to a mental hospital, now whats the odds on that ?. My advice to anyone using online dating is to be very cautious and especially were so called big time sites are involved as if its not bad enough that half the profiles on match.com are fakes with people listed as uk residents but in fact all their photos are in another country and mtach them selves do nothing about fake profiles as it generates revenue .
"most of the women are schizo mind game players"
Do you have evidence that this is the case for "most of the women?" Are you a trained psychologist? Saying things like this does not reflect positively on you and it makes one wonder what type of behavior you might be introducing to the online dating scene. That being said, you can meet just as many awful people in real life as you can online, but fake profiles are something you need to watch out for.
Most importantly you need to take care of your own physical and mental health. If you consider yourself to be experiencing post traumatic stress, you may want to consider meeting a licensed therapist and/or no longer participating in online dating.
identity thief using match.com
Match will not remove a convicted felon named mary louise crespo youngstown oh username happygirl2018 from their site even though many men have called, emailed & reported on site that this woman is a conartist who steals men's identies and uses fake profiles on many sites including pof, tinder & eharmony! Match lets a known criminal use the site for illegal activities even after being made aware of her and sent evidence of her convictions and crimes of bank fraud, wire fraud, identity fraud & check fraud! It's complete sexism because if a man gets even 1 complaint match will immediately remove their profile & this woman mary louise crespo has had numerous complaints filed by victims of this woman mary louise crespo! Incompetence bordering on criminal as match will be responsible when this criminal they allow to keep operating on their site commits more identity theft and uses members and turns them into victims!
I am Louise Vallese, formerly Louise Crespo, the gentleman that has been posting all of the comments online about me is an ex-boyfriend. For the past three years this man has been putting me through hell, I won’t go into details because quite frankly there is too much to put on here. I will, however, defend myself and say that none of these accusations are true. He’s created fake profiles pretending to be several different men and claims he’s had interactions with me (none of which occurred) and then brings those accusations to light by posting them under my name on google. He is a mentally ill individual and since he can’t get to me physically he takes to the internet to degrade and torment me emotionally. I have attached four pages of documents (all of which are a matter of public record) to prove that I am telling the truth when I say how sick he is. The first two pages is a protection order I was granted in April 2019 that states he is not allowed to come near me or my three children. This protection order, Case #19DV144 is for FIVE years. The second two pages, Case #19MA69, is a denied appeal from his lawyer when he was found GUILTY of Menacing by Stalking and Harassing me in May 2019, original Case #2017CRB1883. In that case he was sentenced to 3 days in jail, one month house arrest with ankle monitor, one year probation and ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. Since there is no law protecting me from this man going online and writing whatever he wants about me, “Freedom of Speech” were the exact words of the police officer, I’ve had to stoop to this level and defend myself against these humiliating comments by making this post. For the past three years I’ve never written or posted any type of comment about this individual because I’ve moved on with my life. Brent, I feel sorry for you, I don’t understand how your mind works and I never will because to truly understand you I’d also have to be mentally ill, and that I am not. I am a good person, a good daughter and a fantastic mother. Unless you want to meet me in court yet again in a civil case for Slander, Defamation of Character and Cyberstalking & Harassment I suggest you move on with your life and quit making false claims about me. I have moved on with my life and I forgive you for all the hateful things you’ve done to me, to hold a grudge and let you take up any space in my mind would mean that I still care and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I pray that your obsession with me will end. I also pray you never do to another woman what you’ve done to me because no one deserves these kinds of embarrassing comments to be made about them and posted publicly. I know who I am as a woman and a mother and you’ll never take that away from me. I wish you peace and contentment and that you no longer have to live in a world where the thought of me consumes your every action.
refund
Hello I am very unhappy with match.com my membership renewed I've never met anyone off this site all the time I've been a member I just talked to her very rude customer service person one thing a refund or even a partial refund but she won't give it to me they keep claiming they emailed me but I never received any email of them charging me and only reason why I know the money came out was because I found out by checking my checking account so I would like my money refunded forthwith or else I will take legal action thank you

ourtime
I joined Our time 3 months ago on the understanding that it was for 3 months ONLY, only to discover £77 has been taken from my account yesterday. Whilst I appreciate I have not understood the small print reference the renewal, I am thoroughly disappointed in the customer service of this company.
I emailed match.com to explain I am a single parent on a Debt Management Plan who can barely afford food let alone £77 !
I have not even received a reply so I can only surmise that this company appears to not only have total contempt for its customers, the employees have no manners either,
I look forward to your reply,
Kind Regards
Mandy Easterbrook
Did you profile state that you were a “ single parent on a Debt Management Plan who can barely afford food let alone £77”.
refusal to refund money
My account was auto-renewed and the day this was done I called to formally close my account. Instead, match.com refused to refund my money, charging me for the smallest package and disconnected my call. I barely used the service and paid for a 6 month subscription so you can imagine my frustration being forced to pay for additional services that I am not using and have not used for some time.
I am very unsatisfied with the way this was handled today. I did not approve this renewal subscription and asked for a full refund the day it happened and was not listened to.

unauthorized credit card charges
I am a long time user of this service. I know that auto-renewal is a default setting. I always disable it as soon as I start a subscription. Since the auto renewal date was set for 10/21/17, I logged on several days before to make sure auto-renew was disabled. I was not provided a link to disable it, so I assumed it was turned off. On 10/22/17, I noted a debit to my checking account. Match.com renewed me for three more months! I logged on, and was immediately able to locate the cancellation setting, which I promptly used to cancel the account.
Today, 10/23/17, I called your customer service and spoke with "Michael, " employee #22492. He refused to refund my money. He refused to transfer me to a supervisor. I work in customer service, and in this country, supervisors take escalated calls. My experience was very unsatisfactory.
As someone who has used your service on and off for several years, I always had a good experience. I recommended your service to my friends. Not anymore. I will make sure everyone I know, including social media, knows how I was ripped off by your company.
A letter to the Better Business Bureau and my elected Illinois representatives will be my next step in an attempt to receive a full refund.

cannot stop their messages. "unsubscribe" doesn't work.
I just want to stop message from them to three of my e-mail addresses. There is an "Unsubscribe" selection, but it leads to a place to sign up and never sent to the office or program to stop them. I cannot even send a message there.
I have read a lot of other complaints for many years about this. Some were after they had a credit card number when they wanted to start it, they could never go back to cancel without canceling the card for a new one.
automatic renewal
I canceled my subscription thru my settings before the renewal date. I was setup for a 3 month renewal and i went online before the renewal due date but was still billed anyway and at a higher rate and even though I went thru the system and i recieved a messagw that I would not be. I need my money refunded. It makes no sense that I would renew and at a higher rate. Match is taking people's money without permission and I can see this for myself
account hacked
This all started 9/20/17 and I've been back and forth with customer service in emails and by phone, told to change my password because of "suspicious activity" on my account. After many emails asking what was going on, they said someone other than myself sent out unacceptable emails that violated their terms of use. They closed my account. Won't tell me why, won't refund my money, and will not tell me what has happened.
Something serious is wrong with Match.com operating procedures and the way they do business taking money from users for no reason due to the user.
My brother is an attorney and if we have to we'll obtain a court order for all documentation concerning what happened on my account when it got hacked. A lot of trouble and time for us, but it's the principle here and I'm not going to go away with no explanation or $47.98 refund.
This company desperately need to be investigated for their practices for sure. Good grief, look on the internet and see thousands of complaints just like mine.
subscription
DO NOT use Match! They will take all of your money even when you have turned off auto renewal. WILL NOT issue a full refund and will not let you speak to anyone but the service rep. WORST customer service EVER! I have given them so much money over the years and will never use them again, even when I can afford the service. I do not see how they don't see that people will come back if they treat them right. I have convinced friends to sign up as well and now we will never subscribe again.
subscription renewal
clearly, i have the same type of complaint as many others
i signed up for 1 month and used the service for the month
i followed the necessary steps for cancellation after the first month + i removed my profile + i removed all of my details + i removed my photos
they have admitted that there was no activity on my account after that one month but have refused to refund the extra month that they charged
auto renewal of subscription, which I had cancelled two months previously
At the end of July 2017, my subscription was extended without my authorization to the end of December (rather than the end of September) and I was charged for it. I called and was provided with a refund. Immediately after this, I cancelled my subscription on the website so that it would NOT be auto-renewed at the end of September when it ran out.
guess what? September 27, I was charged for a 3 month renewal. I wasted 20 minutes on the phone with a customer service representative who refused to give me a refund.
I insist on a refund for the auto-renewal that I did not authorize, and which I had actually CANCELLED my subscription at the end of July.

Hi Rachell.
You're made an assumption that many consumers make -- that of a business does NOT state they will not refund, that they must. In reality, the exact opposite is true. Unless a business states they'll provide a refund, they are not required to do so.
Match.com really is a very professional site. You should really give them another chance.
