I have a quiet series 300 also, I may as well wash all the dishes by hand because if I put them in the dishwasher with ANY food on them, it will still be there when it's done "washing" them and I'll have to do it anyway. That's even with EVERY feature turned on despite that it takes forever to NOT clean the dishes. I've had it for a year, it's the WORST dishwasher I have EVER used. The door latch stopped working about a week after the warranty was up so now we have to pry it out with a knife to get it to latch so it will NOT wash the dishes. Basically it's a $400+ dollar sanitizer and a waste of water and electricity. I will never buy another Maytag appliance. Any future purchases will be Kenmore.

I am both appalled and furious after seeing all these complaints! We bought ours almost 8 years ago. We didn't have a dishwasher before, and now instead of washing dishes by hand, we wash by hand and then stick them in the dishwasher and then take them out and clean the dried on grime out of them. We had the repairman to the house twice in the first three months because it wasn't cleaning. He couldn't find anything wrong and suggested we run the water to make sure it is hot before we start the machine. Dirty dishes for eight years and I always believed it must be something we were doing wrong. So am I furious? You bet. I found this post while looking for a new filter because once again my dishwasher is in pieces on the floor while I clean it. At least I know not to bother doing it ever again. And no, we will never buy another Maytag anything.

We have the same problem! We bought it brand new with an extended warranty. Do you think we can get it fixed? Of course not! Get told you need this number, so we get it then get told you need these papers and so on. Been doing this for a yr now! It is maybe 3 yrs old now. To top it off, just now went to start a load...even though they have to run 3 times to be clean!...anyway, the door won't shut! Something is going on with the latch and it won't budge! Our Maytag Series 300 was the perfect dishwasher when we bought it, loved it, especially the way the top rack slants, but man are we regretting making that purchase! There was some work done to it, though warranty would not have mattered, it was a recall due to fire hazard! It is quiet, the first few months you have it, then you are almost afraid to run it, to worried it is going to explode or start on fire!

the difference is that you have a Maytag, but there is no such thing. It is a Frigidaire. Maytag no longer exists but we buy thinking we are getting Maytag quality. My Maytags were great but the Maytag 300 series I have (the control panel quit after less than 2 years) made by? NO MORE FRIGIDAIRE OR MAYTAG FOR ME AND NO MORE GERING APPLIANCE CENTER. Serice? or not!

I thought I was just unlucky with my Maytag 300 but after reading here I see I am not alone. My washer has never cleaned the dishes well from the day we got it, and now it is leaking too. My only saving grace is that I didn't buy it I won it, guess they have resorted to giving them away. Shame on Maytag for continuing to sell this sub standard product.

Along with not cleaning...has anyone had issues with the dishwasher eating metal...meaning the metal on silverware, pots & pans, etc. is no longer shiny but flat, dull & rough.

Wow, and I thought after years of washing dishes and dozens of pictures showing how well my kids got along when they had kitchen duty together, I had finally received my just reward. A dishwasher. Well boy did I get a reward of a life time! The Maytag quiets series was installed in our newly built home. It was the only appliance we didnt pick out. I thought that we didnt rinse our dishes good enough, or the water wasn't hot enough, or some other crazy issue. Now that I read that the same complaints are coming from everyone whos ever purchased this machine, Im convinced that this is definitely a piece of JUNK! Maytag owes all of us a credit slip or new machine! Im currently trying to find the roller for the top rack and guess what? Its about the only part that isnt listed. Which means I have to spend 299.00 for a new rack! Not! In fact, I would give any one of you $50.00 for the rack from the machine you may be throwing out! Call me [protected]. Ask for Bryan

After a year and a half, this machine's control panel stopped working. Only a few of the buttons light, and unfortunately, start is not one of them. We are going to bite the bullet and buy a new dishwasher rather than spend more $$$ on this piece of trash. I called Maytag and they said we would have to pay for the repair, and it would only be guaranteed for 90 days. As if!

It was so loud and never cleaned well anyway. But at least it would start!

Sadly, like others, the Maytag name lured us in. And like others, we will never again buy a Maytag! I still cannot believe this dishwasher (such as it was) only lasted a year and a half.

My Maytage series 300 was not cleaning the dishes and the glasses well. It was leaving lots of residue and particles on the glasses in the top rack and the dishes were not that clean. Was living with it until I found out why. The top rack middle washer was not spining properly if at all. This was due to the fact that the rubber seal where the rack connects to the water supply was shot. The seal was shot and the rubber flap that was supposed to block the alternate inlet was bad. After I fixed it no more dirty glasses or dishes.

We purchased a Maytag Bravo washer and dryer set less than 1 year ago. The washer does a pitiful job cleaning clothes and the dryer has stopped working. The is a piece of CRAP! Maytag has sent a repairman out twice and still is not fixed. They need to contact Maytag Technical Support for further instructions and they are not in the office for another 3 days! I have been without a dryer for almost 2 weeks. I want a dyer that works now! I will NEVER purchase another Maytag product and will encourage anyone who will listen to do the same!

Same issues here. Control panel has stopped working twice. No more warranty. Looks like this is a design flaw with the dishwasher where moisture can leak into the housing containing the control panel and eventually short it out. Class action litigation may be appropriate here.

Wow! I was checking out reviews on new dishwashers because I am ready to replace our 5 year old Maytag Quiet Series 300 because it does not clean the dishes when my husband suggested I check the reviews on the one I had. I sure never expected to find that so many people were as unhappy with this machine as I am. The racks are in terrible shape ... pieces have come right off because of the rust. We had to put bolts in to hold the wheels on the racks because they rusted off. Now it just doesn't clean the dishes no matter what I do. We were shopping today for a new one and we didn't look at anything with the name Maytag on it. Sadly they are just going on their name now ... there was a time when Maytag was the dishwasher to buy.

Wow! I'm not crazy after all! I thought it was something I did to make this machine completely crash on us after only 2 years. I "Googled" Maytag 300 to try to "trouble shoot" what could be wrong with the control panel, and this post popped up. We've had a repair-man out twice! Once for the FIRE HAZARD recall and a second time for the control panel. He replaced the entire panel (luckily still under warranty) but now it turns on when it wants! WTH? I'm on the verge of rolling the POS to the curb!

This is a total piece of crap. I have every single problem mentioned here. I will never buy a Maytag again. My dishes come out dirty with baked on food. I may as well hand wash the dishes before I load them. It makes horrible sounds (not too quiet for a "Quiet Series."). This piece of junk came with the house - too bad the builder picked such a lousy dishwasher for so many homebuyers. I hate this thing - will buy a new one and skip the repairman who would probably be wasting my time and picking my pocket.

Purchased a Maytag QL 200 Quiet Series in Oct of 2009, Have replaced the control panel twice and it is broken again. Maytag won't
even consider replacing the part. After a 20 minute discussion with the Maytag (who is also Amana, Whilrpool and many other Brand names) customer service rep, who refused to warranty the part, even though it was non-fubctional for the third time, I asked if basic-ly Maytag was telling me to "just go stuff it ", he agreed they were and that was all they would do. This dishwasher was less than 1.5 years old, and the part had been replaced twice already. Do not buy maytag/whirlpool products. Do not. They will not listen, help, or admit they have problem. Reading other posts I am not alone, many similar issues and no resoultion, or willingness to help. I now am out $350.00, plus tax and install, so it cost me about $30.00 per month to own this piece of junk, and at least 1/4 of the time it never worked.
Do not, Do not buy maytag/whirlpool products.

I have been reading the complaints about the Maytag Quiet Series 300 dishwasher. It seems to me as consumers we should have some recourse when a company sells a product that does not work under normal use. My expectation is that when I buy a dishwasher it should clean the dishes in a reasonable amount of time for years. I think most people would think a major applicance would work from 10 to 20 years, yet in these posts the amount of time is much less. In a perfect world, the company would feel a moral obligation to make this right with consumers. I would be interested in escalating this issue.

I just called Maytag to see when I bought this dishwasher, it was May 5, 2007. The customer service representative asked me whether I bought the extended warranty which costs $230.70 for a three year plan.

I bought a Maytag Electric Gemini Rage in 2005. I also purchased the extended warranty at that time. It worked just fine until July of 2009, when it started throwing error codes. The oven completely shuts off when this happens. I have had 7 parts replaced ( computer board/clock has been replaced 3 times, oven door locks both upper and lower have been replaced, and harness wiring has been replaced.)It continues to throw error codes and shut down. Then it will re-set itself so by the time the tech gets out to service it there are no apparent problems. This has happened even after new parts were installed. To further complicate matters, Whirlpool switched warranty companies this year and do not even recognize the 5 trips out that were made prior to March 2010. I have called both the warranty company and Whirlpool and have been told that unless a tech says that my oven is "not repairable" there is nothing that will be done.I cannot put anything in my oven without the fear that it will shut off and ruin whatever is in the oven. It went out at Christmas this year, and although a new computer board was installed the week before Christmas, it threw error codes 4 days before Christmas and I was not able to use it for the holiday at all. I had to purchase a roaster oven in which to cook my turkey. Had to cancel my cookie baking for Christmas entirely. And by the time a tech came out the Monday after Christmas, it had somehow re-set itself and he could find no problems. It happened again this week after I had put a chicken in to roast; it threw error codes and shut off. I have tried unplugging it, shutting it off at the main circuit, and it never seems to fix it for long. I am truly beyond frustrated at this point. I feel that it should be REPLACED, so that I can have the peace of mind to know that when I go to use my oven, it will not shut off mid-bake. I have been patient, but I feel that this problem needs to be resolved. As this unit seems to be a lemon it should be replaced at no charge. I would appreciate any help to get this range replaced as soon as possible.

Next time the tech is scheduled to come out, put a chicken in to roast before he gets there so it will fail like you say it does.

Yup, I purchased the Maytag quitseries 300 in 2009'. It went throught it's life cycle in 1.5 yrs. 1st came the blinking light stage; followed by the absolutely no lights go on stage but might operate if you patiently wait (2-3 days) and finally the lifeless stage. Consumers are getting stiffed!

Had worn gasket on gas stove, called Maytag said it was still covered under warranty. They arranged a service call. When the guy finally got here he had only have the request. Maytag had left out all info regarding warranty for stove. The repair man from A & E said he had no info and would not do the job without payment upfront. After a 15 minute wait to call Maytag and getting tossed off customer chat online finally reached Maytag.

The new rep Dave was like warrranty what warranty. Don't complain you got a good 10 years out of it. It supposedly had a 10 year warranty. Oh that was just the meaningless paperwork in front of me from the time of purchase. Meanwhile the only reason we scheduled the service call instead of putting the money to a new stove was cause the first customer service person said oh it is worth it you are still under warranty. So instead of the promised $125 service call we got screwed for nearly $200.

Also this stove is a mess, rusting out under the burners, difficult to clean. Do NOT buy a Maytag product. Their customer service is the worst. They do NOT stand behind their products or their warranties.

I purchased a Maytag washer in January 2011, which arrived visibly damaged. I accepted the machine and I contacted customer service. I was given a small discount and I had to wait two weeks for replacement parts to arrive and be installed by a Maytag service repairman. I have had problems with this machine repeatedly (five service calls since February 2011). Both Maytag and AJ Madison have continued to refuse to honor my request for a replacement washer, despite the inconvenience of waiting for repairmen, replacement parts, and having to go the laundromat. They seem to be more concerned with not wanting to lose the cost of a washer. They have actually spent almost as much money on repeat service calls and parts. I am disappointed with the lack of customer service provided by Maytag and AJ Madison.

I received the recall notice on our Maytag dishwasher and, I must admit, the parts came in a timely manner. However, when the repair guy finally got around to fixing our unit it started leaking around the door seal. Not a big incentive to call Maytag and get the same clown back again...

Attached are a few photos of what you can expect from your Maytag dishwasher racks after using it only a few times a week. The upper and lower dish racks are rusty and falling to pieces. Best to stick to another brand that will stay together after you wash your dishes a few times.

We bought a Maytag QuietSeries 300 a few years back. About once a year I have to disassemble and clean the 'moosh'
out of the suction path of the water pump. Mostly its moosh caught in the wire screen, which appears to be a plate
with small holes drilled in it, for the purpose of keeping food particles (said moosh) from clogging the spray bars.

I could not find a manual anywhere that tells anything about this washer, soooooo...

The baskets, the water manifold, and the covers over the water pump in the bottom need to be removed to get to the
water pump. Just take it apart piece by piece, keeping track of every single screw and clip. Keep the kids and the
dog away...

It takes about 30-45 minutes and a small Torx wrench set (similar to an allen set) to complete the task.

---Problem #1---
My screen is usually clogged with tiny food grains, leafy material, egg shell particles, and paper from washing mayo
and peanut butter jars for reuse/recycle.

---Problem #2---
The center spray bar that is mounted on the bottom of the top rack has to move in and out with the rack. It has a
seal (on the water pressure header) a male "stab" on the basket. Every time the rack is rolled out, it wears the
rubber seal out a little more.

I found mine with 1/8" (3mm) gap all around the stab, letting the water flow around the stab, pouring out into the
internal compartment, effectively bypassing blasting the dishes! This reduces pressure on the whole spray system...
the whole cleaning cycle becomes a complete waste.

---SOLUTION #1---
Go to ApplianceZone.com cam and order part number WPL 6-917647. Costs about $20 including shipping. 3-4 days on my
front porch. Snaps right in on the water header that runs up the back wall. This is the seal that accepts the stab.

Here's the link to the part...
http://www.appliancezone.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=4342&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

---SOLUTION #2---
As a temporary solution, I used 5 minute epoxy to seal the upper flap shut, and then used o'rings on the stab to
prevent water leaking out around the stab. I've not even put the new part in yet. The dishes are sparkly clean.

POW! DONE!

We purchased our Maytag washer and had it installed in our NEW house in feb. It leaked and caused floor damage. A&E tech came out and it was a bad part, said they would have to order a value. A week to get a value, really! They WORST WORST customer service out there. RUDE! We asked for a call ahead and you would have thought we asked for a million dollars. Hello we have jobs too. 4 hour time slots, no call aheads. First they said it would be a week until they could fix it. Then the tech left when we told the dispatch we were almost at the house. Now onto week 2 without a washer, and I have a baby, yeah not good. So again we are still waiting took another day off work to fix something that was not my fault. A&E is beyond the worst and reviews look to say the same. This reflex poorly on Maytag. I am in customer service and I know the world does not revolve around you, you help customers not have attitude and no wiling to work with people.

It is sad but true, I too own the Loud Series 300. It never gets the dishes clean, even after we tried to clean out zall the spray bars. It runs for an eternity and the handle has been broken and repaired several times. The plastic racks are broken in many places & the silverware holder has so many holes, the knives & forks & things fall right through the bottom. This machine is a total waste of space, money, energy & water. I bought a dishwasher so we wouldn't have to handwash, but I like my dishes to be clean, so we have too. I will NEVER buy another maytag as along as I live. I agree that when the Maytag Man died, so did the companies pride in their products.

Oh for heavens sake! I really thought it was the way my husband saved the 100 bucks to have it installed, and did the deed himself. (I'm sorry Babe) We have had ours for approximently 6 years and I think we have put no more than six months of use in it. All dirty washes not at all satisfied with it's performance. When we bought it, we paid just over 700 for it. I will never, I repeat never by a Maytag again. I am finally at the point now to try another dishwasher. With my eyesight getting worse as I am getting older I am getting the dishes as clean as the Maytag Quiet 300. You can bet I will be checking out Consumer Reports this time around.

Wow. I wish that I had read these comments before. I too own this piece of junk that I bought with the assurance from Lowe's that Maytag makes the very best. The cycles are soooooooo long I have to use the delay so that we can get showers without competing with the unit. And if you want to watch TV, you can't run the unit without turning the volume up loud enough to wake the dead. My unit quit draining yesterday. I read all these posts and came across a diagram that explained how to clean the soap yuck out of the filter. BEWARE! When I took piece #7 (the filter unit) out it was attached to the motor! All the water in the unit spilled out onto the floor underneath. Sigh, another mess. I wash my dishes by hand before putting them in the unit (stupid I know) so food build-up cannot be the problem, it is just soap. I use only Finish brand like Maytag calls for and I use the stupid dishwasher cleaner every other month. I too wish I had my 1980's unit back.

I had the same problem. After observing a few cycles, I noticed that the soap dispenser would open immediately after turning on the dishwasher, so that the soap would be all used up during the prep cycle. I began using taps, which dissolve slowly, and since then our dishes have come out clean.

Shame on me for not doing a thorough research BEFORE buying ALL 5 maytag appliances from the Home Depot. I didn't plan on having to buy new appliances for years to come BUT I can tell you that I will NOT ever buy a Maytag again. So far (knock on wood) it's only the Dishwasher Quiet Series 300 which has been a complete waste of the $600+ we spent on it. New home, new appliances, 2 months later 1st service call :-( Dishes are NEVER clean especially the glasses in the front at the top, sounds like it's grinding glass, soap doesn't dissolve so I have to re-run it a 2nd time (cha ching) All my glassware will have to be replaced when my extended warranty runs out and I have NO choice but to buy a new unit as I would NEVER sink as much as a Dime into this one (current service call is $655 to replace parts). FOUR service calls in less than 2yrs...the 1st three told me, less soap, change your soap, run the hot water, load the dishes differently, don't rinse the dishes, rinse the dishes, run vinegar, etc etc etc...this 4th service call (and I'm STILL waiting) is for a new control board and panel...dishwasher DOES NOT RUN...part is back-ordered til DEC 2 - family of 5 people! Man, I wish I had've come across this site 2yrs ago - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...I STRESS, PLEASE DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG PRODUCT, the service people apologize for your frustration, however it gets you NOwhere except at your kitchen sink washing dishes for hours!

Have the same model was lied to and told it was a great working model by some showroom sales jerk. It has never worked right. Dishes have never all gotten clean. We have to completely wash the dishes before loading them into the dishwasher. Maytag won't send anyone out to our neck of the woods to fix it. And now there is the fire recall to worry about. Complete waste of money!
