Microsoft Word

Unfortunately, Microsoft, in a desire to collect information and extract money from casual users of "Word", makes downloading and printing a Word document virtually impossible without subscribing to their service.
Congratulations Microsoft, you have discovered a great way of assuring the failure of Word. I use Google Drive and Google Documents or Open Office (free services) for all my documents.
I have requested that all my professional service providers send documents in PDF or Google format.
I pay the bills, so they will comply!

Desired outcome: banish Word from the universe

Microsoft Non delivery of laptop paid for

Order [protected]
Case number [protected]

Ordered a Surface book 3 laptop on the 30th January which came to £3, 434.95 with an essentials bundle for my company. It was important because my old laptop was too slow and I was dependent on being able to work from home to earn money. Microsoft despatched this on the 1st February and took payment. I was told via email to expect delivery on the 3rd February. The essentials part of the bundle was delivered on the 3rd February but not the laptop. The delivery of the laptop was rescheduled a further 9 times. The delivery driver turned up with the laptop 10 days after payment had been taken. He then told me the system had rejected the delivery and that I could not have it and was returning it to the warehouse.

I phoned Microsoft support on the 10th Feb to find out why the laptop could not be delivered. They contacted the delivery company UPS and they said there had been a request to redeliver the laptop which coincides with me ringing them 4 days before to ask for assurances they would deliver my laptop. I then requested that I would like a refund because I had no confidence of getting the item redelivered any time soon. I need this laptop for my business and I need to get another one ordered from a company that can deliver it. I asked about their complaints process to be told there wasn't one.

I am now being held hostage with Microsoft because they are not willing to give me a refund until UPS has delivered the item back into their warehouse and then the system will take a further 7 days. I do not see why I have to wait so long as I never received what I had paid for. I also paid extra for leads, earphones and software that I cannot use. I still want to order the same laptop but cannot do this until I have been refunded.

Desired outcome: I just want a refund quickly so I can buy the laptop I need. Ironically I want the same laptop. They were unable to provide the product.

Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft has suspended my long standing '[protected]@hotmail.com' email account due to (supposed) violation of their services agreement. This has been a much used account, linking all of my multiple computer/phone devices, for a long time & as such, this suspension is having a considerable detrimental affect on my day to day online activities, with the loss of access to the numerous emails sent to this email address over the years. I have repeatedly tried to contact Microsoft to dispute any such violation, having never had any issues over the many years I have had this account, whilst not changing my online habits at all. All I get in response is the exact same violation message but with none of the requested further information as to the exact violation.

Desired outcome: Exact details as to the supposed violation so as to give me something with which to work with to disprove it. Ultimately, the reinstatement of this email address.

I cannot get any help from microsoft outlook hotmail.Com. Starting two days ago, hotmail.Com no longer recognizes my password and cell phone number. This prevents me from accessing my e-mails, especially the urgent e-mails sent to me from my physicians and medical specialists. There is no available assistance that can be reached by phone, or even on facebook. Nobody ever responds. Can you please help me? this is urgent. Please provide me a phone number where someone will answer the phone. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you I CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE ARE SO LITTLE RESOURCES THAT WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN CREATED FOR ME. PLEASE HELP. IT'S URGENT. THANK YOU.

Microsoft 365 office, msn illegal control of my personal device.

There is a statement that there is no option but to accept the 365 OS on a new HP laptop i paid cash for. It also prevents me from enjoyment of new software that I have legal right to, being loaded in my new lap top. This is in violation of the Supreme Court decision against MSN United States v. Microsoft Corporation, 253 F.3d 34 (D.C. Cir. 2001)
This also is in violation of the 2014 (02/25/2014)
Unlocking Consumer Choice and Wireless Competition Act - Repeals a Library of Congress (LOC) rulemaking determination, made upon the recommendation of the Register of Copyrights, regarding the circumvention of technological measures controlling access to copyrighted software on wireless telephone handsets (mobile telephones) for the purpose of connecting to different wireless telecommunications networks (a practice commonly referred to as "unlocking" such devices). Reestablishes, as an exemption to provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) prohibiting such circumvention, a previous LOC rule permitting the use of computer programs, in the form of firmware or software, that enable used wireless telephone handsets to connect to a wireless telecommunications network, when circumvention is initiated by the owner of the copy of such computer program solely to connect to such a network and access to the network is authorized by the network operator, thus permitting unlocked phones.

Directs the Librarian of Congress, upon the recommendation of the Register, to determine whether to extend such exemption to include any other category of wireless devices in addition to wireless telephone handsets (e.g., tablets and other mobile broadband-enabled devices).

Allows such circumvention (unlocking) to be initiated by the owner of such a device, by another person at the direction of the owner, or by a provider of a commercial mobile radio service or a commercial mobile data service at the direction of such owner or other person, solely in order to enable such owner or a family member of such owner to connect to a wireless telecommunications network, when such connection is authorized by the operator of such network. Prohibits such owner-directed unlocking from being construed to: (1) permit the unlocking of devices for the purpose of bulk resale, or (2) authorize the Librarian to authorize circumvention for such purpose.

Therefore MAN must, by established law unlock my new computer so that I am able to load and use any software that I have legal right to use in my personal computer privately and not be forced to use the Cloud or any other service not of my own choice.

Desired outcome: Unlock and remove the hidden administrator and allow me to take full control of my computer and programs as provided by consumer and other prevailing law.

Microsoft Windows 10: Locked out of my account

I am locked out of my account, even though I have "reset" my password. I do not know what is wrong. I have opened a case with Microsoft, and the number is: SIR2784365.

I received an answer from "Diane" which I felt was vague, unhelpful and aggressively rude.

"Diane" from Microsoft Online Safety, is the first person I want to complain about. In her response to my original ticket, she did not explain things very well, and she came across as threatening.

Here's what I am talking about: "Microsoft suspended the account due to a serious violation of the Microsoft Services Agreement, Code of Conduct" what are the "serious violations" of the Code of Conduct did I do? She does not explain it."

"However, the account is temporarily reactivated with the expectation you will update the Profile Picture/Avatar or Mood to not be in violation."

I have no idea what this is talking about. My account has not been reactivated, because I still cannot get in it. And "expectation"? Do I work for her? I also have no idea what Profile Picture/Avatar or Mood is she talking about.

And here is the threat: "If you do not make the picture change within 48 hours, the account will be permanently suspended - with no option to appeal the decision."

So, I will be locked out of my computer with no option to appeal?"

"To change the profile picture from any platform or device, sign into your Skype Account."

I do not have a Skype account; If I "did" have a Skype account, it was a long time ago, and I have completely forgotten about it.

So, what in the Code of Conduct did I violate? The Terms/Code is 34 pages long. You want me to read through it and "guess" what I violated? And, why do the people at Microsoft have more control over my computer that I do?

Another thing Diane did, or did not do, was answer all of my concerns. I had written: "It seems to be a messed up system, and frankly, I would like to be able to bypass the whole thing, and not use the security to get into my computer; because "Microsoft" is hijacking my computer, ironically."

Here is my request: Can I bypass or disable the Microsoft security when I get into my computer? I do not want the security, because it is too sensitive and a hassle when it locks you out. I have not turned off my computer for two days because I do not want to get locked out of it.

Thank you,
Paul Gregor

Desired outcome: To disable the security system; or unlock my account and straighten this problem out.

Microsoft Customer care and support

28/1/2021
I am a customer of Microsoft and currently subscribe to Windows 10 and Microsoft 365. Over the last two days I have experienced significantly technical problems with the outlook email platform with multiple requests to change my password, over 20 codes sent for resetting. Resetting attempts that fail after the next login and locked accounts. I called you customer support department who were quick to call me back (thankyou) but after that proved completely ineffectual. They were dispassionate and neither of the support team whom I spoke with had any ability to simply say "sorry for the inconvenience" that I was experiencing

The approach of your team members was worse than speaking to two robots and the process was very laborious and required a lot of prompting from me to access the right places to try to reset the account.

For any organisation, the first code of professionalism comes from basic manners. Teaching your staff to apologise is something that would cost you very little but would give clients some feeling that Microsoft cares at all about the people who give them money. Today's attempt to reach out to Microsoft was truly disheartening and I hope that you will consider my complaint with the compassion that was lacking earlier today.

yours sincerely

Dr Zarina Shaikh
zarina.[protected]@hotmail.co.uk

Desired outcome: an apology and reassurance that you will simplify what appears to be an overly complex password reset system.

Microsoft Windows 10

I bought a new computer with Windows 10 installed, that cannot be activated. May 3, 2018 I purchased Windows 10 Home. This serial number does not work.

I spent several hours with Kevin Bart. Microsoft Community. He gave me several different fixes, none of them fixed my problem.

I decided to install the hard drive from my old computer, the Windows 10 was activated, into my new one but I am having the same problem. It will not let me use my purchased product key, it keep suggesting that I go to Microsoft store and purchase a new product key.

Is Microsoft in financial trouble.

Desired outcome: Use my purchased product key

Microsoft Windows Support

On Monday January 11 2021 I was supposed to receive a call back from a Level 2 Technician at 1:00 pm PST that never happened. Next I called back on Wednesday January 13 2021 and was promised a call back within 2 hours. this also never happened so I called in yet again on Friday January 15 2021 and again was promised a call back within 1/2-1 hour time frame any you guessed it the same thing again. Finally I tried to contact them again via the get help app and was summarily dismissed by a screen announcing an error try again later. Needless to say I'm totally disgusted with your support personnel and am seriously considering cancelling my paid support subscription.

Desired outcome: I demand a thorough investigation and a swift resolution to my problem

Microsoft 356 microsoft business

My name is Dina Smith, phone number is [protected] from freedom auto company, our account user name is [protected]@freedomautocompany.com.
I was having a problem signing in for my account in the first time, I called the customer service number provided on the confirmation email that I got when ii purchased my account. After the customer services keep transferring me to different department, they finally came out with a very weird/rude conclusion that i am the one who responsible to forget the used name or I even did not create a user name, however i tried several times to provide them with my user name which is the one on my account and they transferred me again to another department to the cancellation team saying that the i have to cancel my subscription and and repurchase again because there is nothing they can do for me and the girl from the cancelation department was able to confirm all the details and the username which is exactly the one that i gave them in min(2) during our phone call! it is very FRUSTATED to spend 45 mins for such an issue with a big company like Microsoft, i am very disappointed and unhappy for the service that we got for our company and paid a good amount of money for that.

Desired outcome: free subscrription

Microsoft Gift card mis-representation

So i bought an "X-BOX" gift card that I wanted for my 7 year old for Christmas as part of his gifts. Last Christmas I was told that if I made a family account that he would be able to access the money through his xbox whenever I added money. So i got this $50.00 X-BOX gift card that says on the back to redeem go to www.microsoft.com/redeem which I did. Needless to say my son is NOT able to access what he wants from his xbox. Sure he can get the games & subscriptions; however what he wants is V-BUCKS!
So of course I called Microsoft to see about transferring the funds or cancelling the gift card and taking it back and putting it towards my sons account but that is not possible and they refused to give any sort of credit to him. I am extremely upset about this. The thing I don't understand is if I'm buying an "X-BOX GIFT CARD" when you add it to the Microsoft account as its stated to do so...wouldn't it go to X-BOX! I did not buy a "Microsoft gift card". I feel Microsoft is ripping off customers especially those who don't know anything about X-box or whatever it is ...I feel their totally ripping off their customers. I plan to take this as far as I need to so it gets resolved and people in the future do not get ripped off.

Microsoft them not answering for what they are doing.

Trying to take money off of your card without permission. They are trying to take money from my card when I deal with them with gift cards. I have been trying to get the problem fixed and they want to answer their calls or put you on hold and no one will answer it. I want something done to them. I want them to leave my card alone they have no need to try and take money from it. when I am using gift cards anyway. I want my money back and something is done to them for all this bs they are doing.

Desired outcome: FIX THE BS

Microsoft Give with bing

I spent weeks getting my favorite non-profit registered in order that I could give with bing. Once registered, I logged on, and made it my nominated recipient. It got changed back. Now, even though it is there, and I select it, and confirm, it refuses to allow me to give my donation where I want! I can change to another non-profit, but not to the one I want touse. Microsoft/bing ignore my complaints, passing the buck and closing it unanswered.

Why is this such a dreadful mess, taking donations and giving them where they want to, even when the desired non-profit recipient is there to be selected?

Why are the service team so unhelpful?

Is this all just a dishonest scam? Many others have told me it is, an they would never give the cash properly to a non usa charity, but I cannot believe they would want such a bad reputation to be broadcast.

Microsoft Controller stick drift.

Hello,
I don't know what is going on with your controller construction but I have bought 3 Xbox one controllers In the past 4 months and all of them has had some form of a drift. As a gamer we can't play FPS with a drift it messes up our aim. It's incredibly disappointing because before covid or could buy your product and be completely happy with. Now not so much. It's insane on how poor you guys have been making them. What worse is I read this (the link).
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-10-11-class-action-lawsuit-against-microsoft-for-alleged-xbox-one-controller-stick-drift-has-been-updated-to-include-the-elite-series-2

What's going on? R u purposely doing this or what? I've bought your controllers ranging between 59.99 to 75.00 dollars. I've nearly spent 200 dollars and 4 months just waiting to get Broken controllers, seriously!
The picture is my most recent controller that also drifts!

Microsoft Warranty service / power supply replacement

Hi, my name is Edward-Jude Kunkel. I am a teacher, I have a Surface Pro, and I use the Microsoft software for my job on a daily basis.. I returned / under warranty,   the defective power supply on july 25, 2020 and microsoft service center received it on july 31, 2020, and as of august 26, 2020 I still do not have the replacement!.  I have spent over 15 hours trying to get this issue resolved. I had to purchase a new power supply so I could do my job. I use my surface pro daily for over 8 hours a day and need to have a power supply to keep it charged. As I said, I feel I have submitted proof that the defective power supply was returned, signed by one of your employees and still they demand that I provide proof that I actually dropped off the defective charger/power supply. What happened to the "the customer is always correct!" I asked if someone on their end could call the service center, speak to "arias" (the individual who signed for the power supply) and was told "wedon't have a way to call service center directly, edward. What we do here is towait for their response on the ticket that we have raised. igot your point on that but the only way for us to communicate with the servicecenter is through submitting a ticket to them and wait for their response. I need to replace my son's computer so he can do his distance/virtual learning and was looking at the new surface pro as my nephew, wife and I all have a surface pro. With the service I have received, the way I have been treated, the length of time I have waited to get the replacement power supply (under warranty!)  with the way that your employees haveinsinuated/inferred that I and a liar/thief! I will not be purchasing a surface pro  or any microsoft product for my son! I will also be telling all contacts and social media abut how I have been treated by microsoft concerning an in warranty power supply. find below the transcripts from the chat I have had with yourcompany individuals. Microsoft Windows 10 october 2018 harmful update

Dear Sirs

I bought an HP laptop with a Windows 8.1 software on it in Pécs, Hungary on March 3rd, 2015. The programs included a Microsoft Office 2013 Professional Plus software, too. Everything was OK with it.

Later I was offered the chance to get a free update to Windows 10, which I managed to install a few months later.
The actual problem arose in 2018, when the October 2018 Wndows update apparently deleted everything from my PC: I know, lots of PCs had the same fate. As I didn't have a recovery disk, I had to pay a lot to have another Windows 10 software installed on it, but I still do not have a windows product key for any chance. But... at least it works properly: My actual problem is that I cannot use the Office 2013 Professional Plus program as I haven't got a product key for it.

I think It was enough for me to pay for the reinstallation (Quite a lot), not to mention that Offfice softwares cost about half of my monthly retirement benefit. And, let's agree on that: It was not me to be blamed for the loss of softwares but your October 2018 update: What I expect You to offer me would be a free Office product key I think I am entitlto have. Hopefully You will help me.
Sincerely: Kacsó László

Microsoft Customer service

There are NO customer service supervisors. NONE! I had an issue today, where an update messed up my computer. I contacted customer service who was unable to help, and also unable to transfer me to a supervisor as there were none. This agent was very polite, i feel awful for him. I can only imagine how many people he's had to deal with yelling at him because there are no supervisors to help when regular customer service is unable.

Automatic update

I get my computer the way I like it then you do an update and depersonalize it.

This pisses me off.

I am obviously not a genious.

It takes an inordinate amount of time to figure out how to get things back the way I like.

Inordinate in this case means with any luck at all I may have things back to "my" normal about the same time you do another update... Maybe.

Then I get to be pissed off again... Rinse and repeat.
