Newport Lexus BEWARE! Watch out for sneaky sales tactics

BEWARE! Watch out for sneaky sales tactics. On 7/31/22, I found a used car online. I got in touch with Lexus Newport and, after talking to the salesperson, decided to buy it at an agreed price. Since I had to drive from ***, which would take more than an hour, I wanted assurance that they wouldn't sell the car before I arrived. The salesperson said that he and his manager agreed to take the car off the lot and not sell it if I sent them a copy of my driver's license. I sent the license copy and got a text saying that the salesperson was removing the car from the lot to prevent it from being sold. I started getting ready for the trip because my husband would drive me to the dealership. But less than 30 minutes later, I got another text saying that they had sold the car to someone who had tried to buy it the day before but didn't qualify due to credit problems. However, this person came back to the dealership with a ***, so they sold the car even after telling me they had taken it off the lot. Unprofessional, dishonest, and definitely a place to avoid at all costs!

Newport Lexus We went to Lexus to trade in my wife's NX because the lease was coming to an end and mileage was getting high

We went to Lexus to trade in my wife's NX because the lease was coming to an end and mileage was getting high. She went in to get a newer NX. We noted that the NX hybrids don't get the 44 miles/gal that the Hybrid ESs get. (What's up with that?) So we looked at the ES. The issues started for me when we test drove a Lexus ES. The car wouldn't start due to a dead battery. Come to find out it was on the lot for a period of time and evidently not driven much. The salesman, Abe Canaan, called maintenance and they jumped the car. We drove it and decided to lease that car. Hey, batteries wear out if not used properly, we understand. We assumed, (yeah I know), that they would change out the battery or put a charge on it. We were told by Abe that that was done. I went to a Dr. appointment, then went through paper signing and took the car home. This is to say that several hours went by. The next morning the car was dead in the driveway! Obviously they had just jumped the car and counted on our drive to charge the battery. And they obviously did not test or put a proper charge on the battery. We were told that it was fine, fine, fine and it was taken care of. (Later the next day they did test it and found it needed a new battery!) I should add that we did not take possession of the car until late in the day...around 7 pm the night before. Abe got very short, visibly irritated and pushy to get us out of the dealership as we went through the safety check out and safety features of the car. For me...NOT appreciated and rude! My wife commented that the car was starting out with some bad karma. She was starting to have second thoughts at that point. The dead battery the next day really was a deal changer for her...and me! But we know...let the buyer beware...we had signed papers. So we called Lexus and they came and got the car to fix it in the morning. They did NOT leave my wife a car to drive. WTH? So we called the finance person who said that the papers had not been sent in. We said we would be in within an hour and don't send papers in. Getting a new car is exciting and this was to be my wife's car and so I wanted it to be totally a great experience for her. She was very disappointed with the ES. I felt bad because I gave my opinion that the ES was a better car than the NX, especially with the mileage of 44 over the 31 for the NX. When we got to the dealership I asked to see the sales manager. We talked to David Garcia. We told him our concerns and the resistance by him was obvious. We went back and forth and finally he and I came to an understanding that he couldn't make me happy. So he turned to my wife and asked her what she wanted to do. She said that she would like to go with the NX. So David went to his desk to check out the situation. My wife and I talked and I said that I thought since the papers hadn't been sent in to kill the deal and take her old car back, extend the lease and get a new 2021 NX that would have the mileage that she wanted. David said that he was agreeable to the change of lease from the ES to the NX since we were persistent, loyal customers having done business with them for 3 or 4 cars. When I posed the idea that we would like to kill the deal and take back her old car he uttered the words okay and went back to check on it. He came back about 20 minutes later and said that they couldn't do anything that the car went through and the ES was a done deal. Despite what the finance person told us over the phone; that it hadn't gone through and we asked that it not be put through because we were coming to talk with them...David after we came down to the dealership, waited for him for about 20 to 30 minutes, talking to him for another 20 to 30 minutes and then waiting another 20 to 30 minutes...he comes back and says the papers have already gone through. I say, nonsense! They pushed the paper through while we sat there waiting after I requested to kill the deal...despite his willingness to change the lease to the NX! I have a problem with their integrity! Abe Canaan didn't fix the battery as he indicated and should have done. David Garcia was unsupportive, inconsistent and lacked integrity in his treatment of the issue. He was going to do it his way no matter what. Again, I know...let the buyer beware! But, we were put off by Abe Canaan and David Garcia so as to push the paper work through to solve their desire to end the issue and also dismiss the sloppy effort to solve the battery issue. Okay, what do I want? At this point...nothing from them. I just wanted to let people know that you are dealing with seasoned people who have tools to put you off should problems arise. Yes, let the buyer beware! Be very aware. And ok, as I told you David, you win the battle, but not the war. I won't be back to deal with you or Abe. Very disappointing.

Newport Lexus On February 26, we traded in our **** Lexus RX330 for a new lexus with Newport Lexus

On February 26, we traded in our *** Lexus RX330 for a new lexus with Newport Lexus. They gave us a credit of $3,500 for the value of our car against the purchase price of our new car. Six months later on August 21 we received a DMV Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice for our *** Lexus. On August 23 we filed the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability for our *** Lexus. We contacted Newport Lexus and they confirmed to us that they had sold our car to a buyer without registering our *** Lexus in their name. We are still on title for the *** Lexus and Newport Lexus has refused in writing to do anything about removing our name from title on a car we no longer own.

Newport Lexus Beware: The price on the phone don't match when you show up for car service

Beware: The price on the phone don't match when you show up for car service. I bought or leased five cars from Newport Lexus. In late July , I called them to make an appointment for my 120K service. They checked my car, a 2010 *** front-wheel-drive, and went through the main service items suggested by the manufacturer. They said it would cost around $1,540. When they mentioned the tire rotation, I told them I already had it done at ***, so they took off $70. They also offered a 10% discount if I took it to Tustin Lexus (same owner), so the total came to about $1,320 with a loaner since it was a major service. I drove there 30 minutes later, and when I sat down with the advisor, he quoted $2,095 without even looking at my car. He had my appointment and car info in front of him, so I told him the quote I just got and he looked at me like I was crazy. He said that price wasn't possible and that there was too much work to do. Please see attached.

Newport Lexus I bought a 2015 Lexus RC350 Fsport from Newport Lexus

I bought a 2015 Lexus RC350 Fsport from Newport Lexus. I got an extended warranty for about $2200, extended maintenance for another $2200, and gap insurance for $500. I ended up doing an option contract and financed with *** who made me repurchase *** through them for $400. I also found out that the extended maintenance didn't cover spark plugs at 60k, so I canceled both the *** insurance and extended maintenance with Newport Lexus and kept only the extended warranty. I sold that car last Friday 9/3 to my work ***, and called Lexus to get a refund on the extended warranty. Turns out Newport Lexus never canceled the $500 ***. I called the *** at Newport Lexus 9/3 and never got a response. So I paid for it twice. They lied to me about canceling the *** insurance but never did. How many more people did they do this to? This is theft, and someone needs to hold them accountable. I appreciate any help you can provide.

Newport Lexus I've been a Lexus customer for like 20 years and never had a problem until I got my 2019 IS300

I've been a Lexus customer for like 20 years and never had a problem until I got my 2019 IS300. I had to take it in when it was only a few months old 'cause the shocks were all messed up (like, totally defective), and the AC has been acting up three times and still doesn't work right. Plus, there's this faulty strip thingy around the windows and a recall item. But the latest issue is that ALL 4 tires on my car are defective and needed replacing. I had two different places check it out, and they both said it's a defect with the tires. The tread on the tires was all new and in perfect condition, but the inside part came off on the back tires. The dealership says it's an alignment problem, but I don't buy it. I haven't hit anything, and the car drives just fine. It's hard to believe that both the front and back alignment would be so off that it caused this damage. And get this, I took my car to an alignment shop, and they said it's not out of alignment. So, it's gotta be a defect with the tire or the design. I had to shell out $799 at Lexus for the back tires and $448 at Americas tires for the front ones. I want my $799 refunded, man.

Newport Lexus I got some work done on my 2010 Lexus SC430 at Newport Lexus and I was pretty happy with their skills until October

I got some work done on my 2010 Lexus SC430 at Newport Lexus and I was pretty happy with their skills until October . I'm really bummed out because they didn't own up to the damage they caused to the clear plastic on my heat/AC controls. This car is a hardtop convertible and it's pretty special because it's the last year they made them (only 329 were built). It's like a fancy car that I hardly drive. I'm retired and don't go out much, so I've only put less than a mile on it every day since this happened! In 11 years, it's only got 36k miles on it. It means a lot to me and I know it inside out. When I noticed the scratch the very next morning, the manager right away said his guys couldn't have done it. It's not that easy to see until you put the top down, and then I noticed it right away. The car was in for a new battery and the stereo wasn't working. The stereo is right below the glass for the ***. Turns out, the battery was the reason the stereo wasn't working, even though everything else worked fine after jumping the battery. The manager checked the security cameras and said it wasn't his guys. Those cameras must be something if they can see the car all the time. At first, he seemed like he would take responsibility, but then he found out the part itself costs over $1k. That loss will make me take my business elsewhere, and you might want to think twice too. I've been living in *** for 4 years and this is the only place I trust to service my car - or at least, I used to.
