won't deliver
Yes I understand it’s a freakin’ blizzard outside and all over most of the country right now. Most of us are trapped inside and need to eat! I called papa john’s because they delivered a coupon for pizza in the mail. Ok so the mail gets to my house but they can’t deliver a pizza? Thanks papa johns! I called the nearest location and the girl asked where I lived (which it’s like 5 minutes away), and she said they weren’t “going there”. Ok so if you won’t bring me pizza cool but when I call you better tell me as soon as you answer that you aren’t open for business. Quit wasting my time, they got all my info, my order, my credit card number, just so papa could turn me down.
unfair treatment
Hello I want to complain about a store manager of the papa john store located at Oak Rigde Rd on the corner of South O.B.T his name is mustapha bacha and unfortunate he was my boss, he used to scream and throw things at the floor and punch the counter every time I made a mistake even know I was a new employee without previous experience in that field, it was so aggressive the way he act that I thought that he was about to hit me any time, the other employees looks intimidate around him, they just don't dare to say nothing about his crazy behavior, he always do whatever he wants that's why he fired me at just one week of work, without giving me the two weeks of training that he told me he going to give me and without any reason too, but that's not all, he also stole hours from my last paycheck and make me waste my time like for 3 times when I attempt to pick up my paycheck, but not only that guy is a maniac he is also a pig, one time I saw him sneezing over a pizza he was making and he also blow his nose and touch the food without washing his hands, so when I saw that I decide to never eat there not only he dont have any manners he also is very unprofessional, so you dont really want to meet a person like mustapha bacha he love mistreats employees and costumers...

Good point Zachary. Who was it you or Ian who wrote a letter at age nine and it was much better than this one.
rude telephone operator
I just tried to order a pizza from the Salem, Ohio store on E. State street at approximatley 8:30 P.M. on Monday June 20, 2011. First of all I was put on hold and I finally hung up and called back to be put on hold again! The lady finally answered the phone and she knew nothing about the specials I asked her about…The 1st. special I asked her about was the 3 topping large pizza for $7.99 she said that they only had a 1 topping Medium pizza for $5.99. While on hold they advertise any large pizza for $11.99. She said it would be $15.99.
Maybe she should listen to the commerical when you are put on hold! I finally ordered my pizza and the whole time the lady was RUDE. She answered me with WHAT? Is that all? The last thing she said was it would be a hour for pick up. I told her I was not going to wait a hour and she hung up on me! She couldn’t apolize for the long wait? I then called back and asked to speak to the store manager, she got her manager but never said hold on a second she just put me on hold! Janice the store manager wasnt much better w/her phone skills.
All she did was said she would talk to her and thats it. I questioned her about the hour wait on a Monday night and Janice said “Yes we are that busy” Well excuse me! I told them to forget it…They must hire ALL RUDE employees at that store!
bad work ethics
I have worked at this company for a while now. I have seen delivery drivers get paid minimum wage from clock in to clock out, to minimum wage inside the store and 4 dollars an hour on the road. The full delivery fee does not go to the driver. If gas is 4 a gallon, the driver gets 1.20 out of a 2.25 delivery fee charged to the customer. At the end of the shift the manager multiplies 3.25 times the drivers road hours to calculate what tips the driver should claim on taxes. This way the company does not have to pay the minimum wage make up. On my side of town the driver doesn't make good tips, but the company still makes them claim the amount.
If an hourly assistant goes into over time, they are made to clock in as a driver amd deliver to save labor.
The company spends more money on video cameras, so the owner can watch all the stores from home than they do on employee benefits. There is zero morale, just squeezing what bit of life there is out of someone and moving on to the next. Then the company complains when they are understaffed.
And there is no open door policy, if you complain to a supervisor, he tells half the company amd the person you complain about.
I have seen my location go through 6 GMs in 3 years. If you want a raise you have to hit a bonus, or else you get paid under 600 a week to work 70+ hours.
Bonuses are hard to hit when stores are understaffed do to not paying enough.
There are no breaks given, drivers get told... You sit in your car while you deliver, thats all the break you need.
Some GMs under staff the closing assistant to save labor and the assistant cleans the store. When the GM closes they have enough help so they dont have to clean. Then one of the closers gets told they don't get paid to take a break and smoke right after the GM just smoked.
Very horrible work environment!

promise time for pizza way off
We had called the store for the pizza's for carry out. A female representative mentions 20 to 25 minutes. I go over to pick up the pizzas about 30 minutes after I called. A female cashier asks for my telephone # and asks for the money for the pizza's. I mention to her I would like to see the pizza's. She replies they are not even made up and requests me pay...

horrible customer service
I live only about 10 minutes away from this papa johns so thats why I always used to order from them that is until I realized the people working there are complete idiots. the first time I ordered from them I gave them my address in Paterson NJ and they said ok no problem give it 45 minutes after an hour and a half I got a call from the driver asking donde estan tu casa (he didnt speak a word of english) I gave the phone to my mom and she gave him the address and cross streets he said those streets dont exist we finally figured out he was in Hawthorn not Paterson how do you possibly confuse the two names finally nearly 2 hours later I get my pizza with no apology from the driver and not even so much as an offer for at least a free soda with my next order. Thinking this was just an isolated incident I ordered from them again this time from my job again I waited this time the driver did speak English but sent the pizza to Hackensack instead of Saddle Brook again how can you mistake the 2? So the final straw was when I ordered again for my family at home I talked very slowly and gave meticulous directions to my house over an hour later no pizza I call them back and ask where is my pizza the girl says its on its way be patient another half hour passes I call back and ask to speak to the manager and ask again where is my pizza he tells me the delivery man came to my house rang the bell and nobody answered a bold faced lie because 1 my house doesn't have a doorbell only a brass knocker and 2 even if he used the knocker I was sitting in my sofa right next to the door watching tv with my mom waiting for our pizzas. So I told him his driver is lying and never sent the pizza and he then changed his story saying he called from outside my house but my cell phone was out of service I told him check your caller id because I'm talking on my cell phone right now the same one I used when I placed my order and as a matter of fact my cell phone never gets disconnected because I work for at&t and they never disconnect employee lines so please stop lying and send me my pizza he said he wasn't lying and hung up the phone on me I called back and asked him for his corporate complaint number to which he said stop calling and harassing me we don't have a complaint line so I google searched it and got the complaint line number and left a long complaint on the voicemail but never received any apology from the corporate office to this day I refuse to order from that branch because I know I'll never get my pizzas from them on time.
my bread sticks was dough balls
I had gotten off from work late evening. I got off the transit bus at Papa Johns Hickory and Harris in Charlotte North Carolina. I went in and ordered bread sticks. My wait was longer than ten minutes. I was ready to get home. They handed me a medium pizza box, I did not look in it like I normally do so once I got home I said what, I took a picture of them. It was different sizes bread balls and not bread sticks. If I had not been so tried I would have took them back. I did not eat them a matter of fact I still have the bread balls. I do have pictures if anyone needs to see them.
"My wait was longer than ten minutes"
you can wait that long if not more at Mcdonalds during lunch hour...
Oh no! You had to wait longer then ten minutes! OMG you are going to die! Not really, in older papa johns stores, from taking the order to the time is ready the average time is about 14 min...in newer stores...11 min..
failed to deliver a pizza I ordered and then insisted it had been delivered
On 3/12/11, in the afternoon, I ordered a pizza from papa johns store #2112. I call back twice, after waiting almost 2 hour and talked to the man who supposedly delivered my pizza. He insisted he had delivered my pizza and had been paid. When I told him that was impossible, as I was the one who had ordered the pizza and It HAD NOT been delivered. He kept insisting it had, changing his story several times as to whom he had delivered it. I finally gave up, called him some choice names and hung up! I can calmly deal with most issues but I will not stand for being called a liar!
rude staff
I had to go there on a very rainy night Thursday, March 10. First, I called an order in and the girl who answered the phone so fast, I couldn't understand what she said. When I asked who I was calling, she said, "Hello, Papa Johns" then started laughing. I asked if I could place a carry out and she said, rudely, "WHAT?" I asked again, she took the order, did NOT repeat it and nearly hung up on me.
When I arrived, no other customers were there. The employees looked like maybe they were family. A friendly young man greeted me, took my name and told the young girl to retrieve my order. She looked like she was upset about it, having to stop playing w/her Blackberry, and gave me a look to kill. What ever happened to respect? When she came out, the older woman and her started talking in a foreign language and both looked at me and whole-heartedly laughed, like I was a joke or something. I asked the young girl what was so funny, and she had a change of attitude and didn't say anything - the deer in the headlights look. I asked for her name, and I believe she said Neena, but I couldn't be sure as I was not sure of her nationality.
All in all, it was a horrible experience. People like that should not be running such an establishment if they don't know how to treat customers. I will NEVER order from Papa John's again, period.
I'm all for being happy with your job and having fun doing it, but there's got to be a line drawn somewhere. I managed a Papa Johns for 6 years, and the most frustrating part of the job was having to work with stupid, spoiled, giggling teenagers that didn't care about the customers, had no worth ethic, and only cared about playing on their phones and running outside every 10 minutes to smoke cigarettes! I fired a few, only to be rehired by someone hire up then me. No matter how many bosses I complained to or how up the chain I went, the only response I got was "They're just kids, what do you expect?" I finally had enough, quit 2 years ago and never set foot in a Papa John's ever again!
ACTUALLY I WORK AT THAT PAPA JOHNS AND I MANAGE IT. I AM RESPOSNIBLE FOR THE LAUGHING AS I HAVE TOLD THE OTHER EMPLOYEES THAT THEY ARE TO BE AS HAPPY AS POSSIBLE. THIS MEANS LAUGHING ON THE PHONE AND OFF THE PHONE. SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE (ABOVE) HAS A PERSONAL PROBLEM.
sent wrong order on 2 out 3 pizzas
Sunday night was the super bowl between pittsburgh and greenbay. we look forward to this every year.we have four boys and one girl and we always have a party.we decided to order pizzas from papajohns for delivery and for the super bowl.we wanted them delivered at half time and it took two a one half hours for them to get delivered.i understand they were busy but, they quoted one and a half hours origanally.that wasn't the only problem, when we did get them two out of three of them were wrong. so naturally i feel i should be compensated in some way.
takes money but order doesn't get made!
On Wednesday Feb 2, 2011 I placed an online order at Papa Johns official site: http://order.papajohns.com/index.html After placing my order and entering my credit card information the payment could not be verified. Concerned that something was wrong with my credit card, I logged into credit card online and there I found a pending transaction from Papa Johns.
I called the store and asked if they received my order, they had not. I was told to call [protected] for assistance. I was on hold for over 30 min before I spoke to a lady who was rude. I called my credit card company and then called 800 number, merged the calls and was on hold for an additional 45 min.
The supervisor James Hand blamed my credit card company and said they could not give the credit card company the merchant ID required to release my funds.
After 1 and 30 hours of being placed on hold and the credit card company and papa johns arguing. My funds were released. However my evening was ruined, dinner was 3 hours late.
When I asked for my pizza for free, they only gave me 50% off. WHAT an insult!
I spoke to the manager Adrian McCaw from my local store, he didn't seem to really care that I had spent 2 plus hours with papa johns online. I will NEVER order from this store EVER again.
dissatisfied customer/ripped off
I phoned in an order for an XL, 2 topping Pizza for 11.77 plus tax-the man on the phone-(Eric M.)-per the receipt. said"he thought that another customer was lying "even though I had just read the coupon and told him that it was from a current phone book, that was just received! I stated it sounded cheap ; the phone operator agreed however, it was in the...

My husband and I invested our hard earned money in a Papa John's Russian franchisee 5 years agao. By this time the franchisee was to have over 20 restaurants. There are only 4 restaurants still and the franchisee keeps raising money (millions of dollars) but not building restaurants! Where is all the money going? We don't get answers to any of our questions! Papa John's is supporting this group that has taken our money and not put it to use as promised. When I have tried to contact Papa John's now they won't talk to me and say that these guys are current franchisees and that's it. What kind of company is Papa John's? Why would they support this group? Makes you wonder. There is a real story here and not a good one I think.
Sincerely,
Two Honest Investors
You are missing the point I think. We bought into a brand that is not upholding its own obligations. We as owners can represent the company's interest.
To Mary Jane: Business partners are here in the USA NOT in Russia. Restaurants are in Russia.
"How are your relations with franchisees?
I'm now going through a phase where I encourage people to criticize openly the things we've been doing. For example, we did an awful lot of marketing partnerships in 2005. We may have overdone it. They were not totally aligned with the brand, so we have stopped a couple of them. When nearly 80 percent of the system is franchised, you need a positive relationship with your franchisees. I ask their opinion, and I don't think that doing so is weak management - that's strong management."
Above is quote from new CEO Travis of Papa John's from Forbes 2007. Papa John's should be welcoming and researching my comments therefore.
PS If our investment is worthless than what does this say about the 4 restaurants in Russia we allegedly own that continue to carry the Papa John's logo? What company would continue to puts its brand on worthless restaurants as this would devalue the brand? Normally franchisors scrupulously defend the value of their brand and its related intellectual property. I know that Pizza Hut and Sbarros are doing this in Russia and are doing well there as I understand.
My husband and I invested in a project which could have succeeded especially with what we thought of as a top drawer brand like Papa John's in a developing market like Russia. Other pizza brands are doing very well indeed in this market. However no project could succeed in any market where management is not doing its job. I do not care what industry it is- food or otherwise- but brands that put themselves out in the marketplace as top drawer normally do business with top drawer franchisees pure and simple and enforce their agreements. Part of our due diligence was the expectation, reasonable one I think, that a well known brand like Papa John's would hold its franchisee's feet to the fire in terms of performance. This has not happened. Indeed the CEO of Papa John's claim to fame in a recent 2007 said that he developed the Russian market and wants to expand it- how can this be the case? This is not at all about pricing but about business expectatons, commitments and legality and integrity I might add. A brand lives and dies by its integrity in the end regardless of whether it is having financial problems.
How can the franchisee be living up to its franchise commitments if franchisee books are not right (how can a franchisor calculate its % based on inaccurate books), it is in breach of covenants in the agreeement nor is franchisee living up to development commitments (to build more restaurants) for example? I have worked for a franchisor as legal counsel and if franchisee was in breach like this notices are sent out and the agreement gets terminated per US franchise law. What is going on here then? Why would this type of behavior be condoned?
I would think that Papa John's and this franchisee are both bound by convenants of good faith and fair dealing. This has not been the case with this franchisee group. Forget about cruel- how about having parties behave in compliance with the law? Why should we live in a law based society like the US and have our money stolen and our only recourse is to as you say "write it off"? Why should any upstanding corporation deal with the likes of Bernie Madoff of the food industry? I expect all corporations to be in compliance with the law and deal with law abiding parties in their agreements. Would you order pizza from a company that supports and has contractual obligations with people who take other people's money? What about the reputation of Papa John's and how we consumers perceive this reputation? What if you learned McDonald's had franchisees in your area that conducted themselves like this group? Would you still buy the food? If they are not honest about investor money most likely they would not be honest about other things and probably service/quality would be off, unreliable etc. We are consumers buy into brands that are trustworthy and honest, at least I do.
We invested over $100k. No one at Papa John's directed us to this investment. However I cannot understand why Papa John's would continue to deal with a fracnhisee group such as this knowing what I know about this group's comportment etc.
The investment agreement is governed by US law. Loss is one thing (risk v reward) but taking people's money and not putting it to agreed use is another thing and no clause in an agreement can protect those who illegally took our money and used it to fund personal expenses. The issue you raise, ie no guarantee of return of investment, does not absolve fraud such as the one that seems to have occured in this case.
We have tried for 4 years to deal with the franchisee but to no avail. We hired a law firm and have spent thousands of dollars to try to get information but are getting no where. Now we are told that to file a lawsuit against the franchisee it will cost us about $100, 000 and probably these guys have no assets for us to get anyway (the money is gone). I hear you about the legal issues and the franchisor. We do hope truth and honesty will prevail. Can you help with this?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Was this complaint ever resolved? If so when and how?
No. We understand insiders got paid out and more. We also understand that US & European male investors incentivized to invest by insiders providing access to Russian sex workers.
To be clear in our opinion this was a Ponzi scheme and linked to sex trafficking including menus we were told of women/men perhaps being offered for sale among other issues. Minoritty shareholders do have rights, need more rights but the environment that allows this to continue with no recourse is lacking many standards and remedies.
You wonder where you're money is going?
Imagine the movie Married to the Mob with Russian subtitles.
bad pizza, no topping hardly
We ordered a papa john's pizza from the reynoldsburg area that cost us $20.99 with delivery fee. WE ordered 2 large 2 topping pizzas. There was only about 10 pieces of pepperoni and about 10 pieces of black olive on one and about the same on the other pizza that was sausage and pep. It was thin crust but almost burnt and very dry. We could have gone to the grocery store and bought 2 pizzas with better quality then when we had at papa johns. We feel for that price that papa john's is taking advantage of their customers or that the people working for papa john's don't care and just want a pay check
scam
I had a coupon for a large pizza and a cheesestick for 15.00. i added a 10 peice hot wing. When the delivery arrived the cheesestick was missing. I still paid for the order and tipped the driver. they assured me they would be right back. 2 hours passed and i called only to be rudely spoken to. I asked was the manager there and the guy kevin or calvin asked me was my g.d. manager there and hung up on me. I called back told them not to bring me any cheesesticks which they brought anyway after 2 hours had passed. the next day i called and spoke to the manager will who refused to be of any assistance and threatened me and told me not to call again. I have ordered pizza from papa johns for years and this is the 1st time this has happened.
pizza delivered to wrong address
Everytime I order a pizza from Papa Johns my order some how get's messed up. The 1st time I placed an order my pizza took 1hour and 20 minutes and the pizza was burnt and cold. Then when I called to tell the lady she said it would take another hour and 45mins before they could send me another pizza. Then to make matters worst she was suppose to put a credit in the computer and she didn't. Then I tried to place another order on a seperate occasion and this incident was worst than the first. I order 2med pizzas, an order of hot wings, and coke. I had to call like three times to see where my order was before we discovered that I was not the person that order across the street from me and that the driver had delivered my already paid for order to some little girl that lives eight doors down. I had to listen to excuses about the storm the driver was in and it wasn't even raining. The person that took my order was very nasty but did agree to send me another pizza but failed to state it would be free. When I asked if I was going to have to pay for it he told me I wasn't listening. I then asked him how long is it going to take for my pizza to get to me, and he said he couldn't give me a time but the sooner he could stop arguing with me and get off the phone he could get my order ready. I feel like this should of never happened because my card should have been verified at delivery and secondly who argues with customers. The only reason I ordered from Papa Johns after my first horrible experience is because I am 6mos pregnant and was actually craving this pizza. But from the look of things I don't think I ever want to order from Papa Johns again.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
When they're busy, they're busy. No one can predict an actually delivery time. You have factors like, number of drivers and phone people, who tend to screw up addresses and phone numbers because they're high school kids who don't give a crap about you. We're only human so cut people some slack. I've had plenty of orders messed up in my life but I never raise hell about it because I know how hard these jobs really are.
did not deliver
My company was about to order from Papa John's when I stopped them to tell them this:
In 1998, I called to order for delivery after my family moved into a new home. I requested delivery, gave them the address and the order. 10 minutes after the pizza was supposed to arrive, I called them to inquire how much longer. They said "you didnt request delivery. The pizza is here waiting!" (It was almost an hour by this time). I asked if someone could bring it to me w/in the next 10 minutes. The girl on the phone loudly said to her co-workers "hey, she wants this in the next 10 minutes", and they all laughed. I told her to keep it and I was not going to order from them again.
12 Years later, I have not ordered from Papa John's, and neither do my friends, family, or company I work for.
Oh and yes, I have a stunning memory! I'm glad nothing ever happened to you, from a place that did it before, that dissappointed your kids and the people helping you paint your new home! You'd remember it too! :)
LOL! Maybe I should have made my complaint on this "complaint board" longer to avoid anyone assuming it was a first time problem! I appreciate your "get over it" suggestion! I'm way over it! Still, I can not hide the fact that it was 12 years ago and I've found a better place to order from! Thanks to my co-workers who said post it, I'm now expaining my reasoning to people who dont know me on a... complaint board! Seems kinds odd to me! :)
Wow. I thought this was a complaints board. Not a criticizm column. So maybe everything you order is perfect. So maybe you only tell of events that happen within 1 year. So maybe you think im holding an actual grudge? The result of holding a grudge is to feel bitter or indignant about something with deep anger. LOL! That's too funny! I simply didnt order from them! Why dont you ask first? I dont even think about it till it comes up and my co-worker said "hey theres this complaint board you should post it just because". So now you're getting an explination you dont really need cause this is a complaint board. If it were you, I'd say "man that sucks." But no. You think its stupid. Thats not right.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
worst pizza ever!
You know...after 12 years, I bet you they don't even have the same employees and managers that laughed at you over the phone...
Hey shel7dragon,
It's been 77 days since I've read your complaint and I still think you're annoying. I will also never order a pizza from you just to show you.
Seriously, that's too long to hold a grudge. I'm sure none of those people even work for the company anymore.
You must really have no life and sound extremely pathetic.
So some teenagers laughed at you, waaaaaah!
I was under the impression that people should post valid complaints instead of trolling, posting stupid things, posting demands of this website, and everything else under the above that are just ridiculous.
But hey, that's just me. If people don't learn, they never learn. Society has become a plethora of "ME ME ME" and "NOW NOW NOW" without any thought as to why. People view those working at a job like a pizza place or retail place are below them or somehow owe them everything in order to make them happy and that's just wrong.
So if you're going to complain, perhaps make a worthwhile one that's not 12 years old over something as silly as "oops, we didn't mark it as delivery" or a "hey, I gave my credit card to people and now they're taking money from me"
I was under the impression that the purpose of this board was to warn consumers about the possible pitfalls of doing business with certain entities. Not to complain about a twelve year old pizza order gone wrong. I mean, is there a "annoyingly uptight people" board out there? maybe look into it...
shel7dragon... i understand how when your kids are dissappointed that you do not want to dissappoint them again... if you can at all avoid it. So you dont go with them again. You said this happened before with them. YOu obviously gave them more chances. I think maybe the people giving you a hard time on here are family of papa johns owners, cause i cant see how they wouldnt agree with you. i have not bought a car from this place in belair cause they lied to me. this was 7 years ago, but i will never go there again & i told other people. i must have a stunning memory too. i guess the people on here have perfect lives and short term memories. how lucky they are that nothing has ever went against their plans or wasted their time and money.
The funny thing is there is an ad at the top of this page for Papa John's. A sign perhaps?
I know what a grudge is, but I still believe in at least a 2 chance policy, especially if you enjoy a place's food. Or perhaps since it is a chain, it's just the one store, so I generally have no problem ordering from a different location. You seem to hold an extended problem with an entire chain over 1 night 12 years ago. Hell, most of the people (if not all) that were there probably don't work there any longer and have moved on. You can too, just take a few deep breaths, pick up that phone and order from the Papa. He'll treat you right.
I agree with shel7dragon. It does suck. This is a complaints board. I have had bad service from papa johns too. I dont order from them anymore. I dont want to waste my money on poor service when I can go elsewhere. And I, too, have told people. Thats why there are things like complaint boards!

Recently I singed up on line with papa johns pizza, being told that after earning 25 reward points, I would receive a free pizza. once I had earned those points, I was sent an email stating that if I did not use these points in 10 days with the purchase of another pizza that I would loose my points.
This information was never given before the fact and I will not do business with a company that practices deceit as part of doing business.
You people kill me. You order online over and over again paying substantially more in doing so than actually calling the store to place your order...all to get a free pizza with your papa points! In reality, if you call the store everytime you order u will come off better in saving money
Live somewhere else then...there are a lot of business that won't deliver to ghettos for security reason...and who can blame them?
Let's see Papa John's and other pizza places have employees that make min wage, do really think they can afford a 4x4 suv or truck to deliver in? For the most part they own little cars that are easy on gas so that their entire check and tips don't go toward gas.
Jerk. How would you feel if the driver had an accident due to the blizzard on the way to your house! Is it not summer is in the US at the moment? Do blizzards occur summer?
