I recently sent off 18 parcels from the UK to the US using ParcelHero. The company had provided instructions on how to properly pack the boxes and I even took out insurance just to be extra careful. However, upon arrival, I was extremely disappointed to see that four boxes had been completely crushed. The damage amounted to over ?1000. It was apparent that these boxes had been dropped or thrown from great height. Additionally, several other boxes had been repacked.
As If that was not enough, I was surprised to see that 16 of the boxes were left uncovered on my doorstep for days. This led to a host of worries on my part, including concerns about theft, weather damage, and the possibility of them being tampered with. To make matters worse, one of the boxes arrived several days after the others, and another took almost two weeks to arrive! I highlighted these problems to ParcelHero, but they refused to offer any compensation, citing their "damage exclusions list". Unfortunately, this list covers most things that people might send when shipping parcels, so I quickly realized that getting compensation is almost impossible.
What's more, two weeks after the delivery, ParcelHero tried to charge me for a 7kg weight discrepancy - something they should have picked up on earlier. It's difficult to dispute this now since all the contents had already been unpacked and they had tampered with the boxes. It's hard to believe that such an issue could arise when it is already too late to fix it. To make matters worse, ParcelHero employees never missed an opportunity to patronize me through the entire process. Even after what I had gone through, I was appalled when they offered only a ?15 voucher against my next shipment, despite suffering damages amounting to over ?1000.
In conclusion, I felt that my experience with ParcelHero was both frustrating and disappointing to say the least. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to ship parcels internationally, unless they want to risk losing a lot of money and feeling extremely let down.
Beware of ParcelHero's Scam: Overcharging and Fabricated "Audited Bill" from Couriers
This company, ParcelHero, was a complete disaster for me. Their business ethics and model are just horrible. I had ordered a package for which I had to pay the courier company (UPS) ?70+ more than the original fee. I later found out that this was because UPS had audited my parcel. However, I had no idea what was going on as I had not received any prior notification of this audit. I contacted ParcelHero and their customer 'care' agent did not even get my name right while communicating with me and failed to provide any helpful information regarding the additional fee.
I was very disappointed and angry with the situation. ParcelHero and UPS were unwilling to provide any kind of proof or information about the additional charge. According to ParcelHero, the onus was on me to prove that my parcel was the size and weight that I had claimed. Thankfully, I had photographic proof of the actual size and weight of my parcel. There was nothing to appeal here as the parcel size quoted for was both larger and heavier than the actual weight and dimensions. I had deliberately over-measured my parcel to ensure that I paid the correct tariff.
ParcelHero - you are a joke and a scammer! I will never use your company again, and my advice to other consumers out there is to beware of them. They undercut the courier costs only to try and slap you with a fabricated "audited bill" from the courier. They will claim that your parcel is different in size and weight and try to take money automatically from your account. Some customers have been stung for ?100s more. If you plan on using their services, make sure you take pictures of your parcel's dimensions and weight as proof for your appeal.
I made sure that they couldn't take any more money from me by notifying my bank and switching off automatic payments through PayPal. I think if I hadn't done that, I would have magically lost my appeal, and I would have had a fight to get my money back through small claims court. I also reported the matter to UPS's fraud team, and let's hope this company is shut down soon. Others will fall foul of their terrible business practices and modus operandi if they continue operating this way.
