I needed a RFA-67 battery for my dogs collar. It was on sale online for $4.49, reg. price $12.98. At the register, I was told that corporate policy would not allow the price to be matched as there were some online issues that had not been resolved. She could only sell it to me for 50% of regular price. So, my option was to buy or not to buy. Petco has always price matched for me and I find this new policy disturbing as well as probably illegal.
guinea pigs
I was in this store the other day and there were 5 guinea pigs in one little fish tank. I think that is way too many for one tank. two three tops! these tanks are very small too. I know that they are babies but a little room to move would be nice. some of these guines pigs are there for a while. also there never seems to be hay in these tanks.
guinea pigs need hay at all times for their teeth. how can you sell an animal and not know its basic needs.
I hope the next time I go to this store this will have changed. I have 3 guinea pigs. love them to death and every time I go into this store now it breaks my heart. I have to grab my hay and leave immediately. I stay away from the pigs now.

Made a return of a hamster and cage that was purchased in a different city. I checked the website and called the store closest to me to make sure that the items were returnable and was told th hat as long as I had a receipt that they would accept them for full refund and the other items that I purchased separately at different times I no longer had receipt and was told that I would get store credit for them. I went and took items back and was asked why I was returning them and explined that the hamster had bit 2 of my children and they were afraid of it and I had no idea that hamsters screamed.This being frightening as well it was not sick or injured just very territorial and I didn't want it in the house anymore . Catrenia did the transaction and was rude and very condescending the hamster had chewed threw the petco box and I had no choice but to put it in a shoe box that was in my vehicl Was told that they would take the other items back 4 store credit as long as it had a bar code that was fine I had to retrieve other items from my car and brought it up to her that a hamster ball didn't have the packaging if it was going to be a issue no response. She continued the transaction so I waited patiently and politely and received my store credit and was handed back an empty bag. I used the store credit to purchase food for another pet I didn't check the receipts until I had left. Looking at the itemized list of returned items realized that no hamster ball was on it and I didn't have it as well all I was given back was an empty bag. Thinking back I remembered her bending down and shaking the bag into the trash my daughter saw this as well and remembered hearing a thump and then seeing the empty bag being given back to me . I was asked if I wanted the shoebox back at the end of the transaction and said no but t hat it wasn't really secure and they might want to place something on top since it had pushed the flip top open a few times in the car. Was told nawww it's fine and I again said well it did push it open in my car a couple times so just to be safe. And she replied lol I think your giving it too much credit lol. Another male employee then came over and opened the box that had the hamster in it that my younger children are afraid of and put his hands inside to look at it I don't know why that was done near my kids if they were told they were afraid of it and continueing to keep the lid open in their presence. As slap to the face and insult to my claims that it had bit them and they were frightened he took it appon himself to check for himself just feet away of were my Lil ones were. They handed me my empty bag and 2 receipts and a card with the store credit back. I said thank you and shopped left and then called to ask about the hamster ball to witch I was told they had no idea where it was and if I was sure that I didn't get it back. No I didn't lol I was asked about an old empty shoebox with poop and pee in it but why not the brand new hamster ball if she couldnthe scan ithe and give me a refund why not just say as much and return it to me. Instead of throwing it in the trashcan and saying nothing just given dirty looks throughout the entire process. I don't think anyone is in the habit of throwing money away period if I paid for it and she couldn't help me with store credit then it should have been returned to its owner and not take it appon herself to make the decision and not to say anything and sneakily disgard it into the trash by her assumptions that I need longer wanted it back. When I called and confronted them about it the answers I got were we can check and see if it's here and if it is I can try to see if I can get it back for you. Pissed off that a store hires people so rude and so blatant enough to do things like that I told them I would return with all of the other items I had purchased that I had not brought with me that were at home and want a store credit for those as well and they could give me back my hamster ball. It makes me sick to see such undeniably stupid people in this world regardless of the amount of witch it was purchased for it was purchased by myself and min alone to decide what to do with not incompetent unsensitive rude employees like themselves. Stealing is stealing regardless of what it is or how it's done. Sickening that a place I shopped on a regular basis wold hire these kinds of people
I'm done with Petco they are absolute thieves. I will never shop there again. Iam not even going to bother returning anything at all just to spend the same money again in a store that has such disgusting business practices or incompetent employees I have better things to do with my time money and energy then to deal with these crooks. dog groomer injury and vet bill.
So needless to say I am very very irate about my baby Chewys last groom on 7/21/2017 at the Carbondale, Illinois Petco. We get him home an noticed that there was a knick behind his ear and on his back and lip, his skin was super red, his testicles were knicked and red also. From the moment we got him home he favored his testicles and he was hurting. We get home from work today and he had infection leaking all on his belly. So of course I immediately take him to the vet. The visit, cleaning the wound, antibiotic shot, antibiotic numbing powder that has to be applied twice daily for ten days and a cone on my poor baby. All that cost me $195 all from a groomers mistakes. So when I got home I called Carbondale, Illinois Petco and informed them of Chewys injury and how much it cost me at the vet for a groomers careless mistakes and all the general manager could say to me was if your not happy with the groom they would gladly reimburse the cost of my groom. What crap. I'm out $195 because of Petcos bad groom. I have been taking my baby to Petco for all his groom's for a couple of years now but I will never take my baby boy to any Petco again and you can bet I will tell everyone I know what happened to my baby there. I will never have anything nice to say about Petco again nor will I ever recommend anyone to go there. The general manager had no regard for my baby's pain and suffering BECAUSE OF A PETCO GROOMER! SHAME ON YOU PETCO FOR NOT CARING WHEN A GROOMER HURTS OUR BABIES!

I have been to the petco at Christiana mall multiple times and have purchased ferrets before through the company. I came in tonight and asked to see one of the ferrets to purchase it. When we asked to see the ferret, the employee Brett told us that we couldn't and stared at us the whole time as if we'd do something. I have held ferrets before at petco to get a feel of their personalities. I'm not going to buy one by just looking at it. I've been looking for a boy of a certain color at multiple sites and finally found one to be a pair to my one at home. It was a bit rude and I have held ferrets at that same petco before under the supervision of an employee.

I had an appointment for two of my dogs one 9 yrs old and the other 15yrs old. I was told than 15yr old dog could not be groomed on the weekend because of her age. This dog has been a customer several times before and this has never been an issue. It was a discourteous waste of my time and efforts. I personally spoke to the groomer Jackie over the phone. Then I called back after I was told that my 15 yr old dog would not be accepted. I then spoke to another associate named Jessica who assured me that a manager would return in the next hour and return my phone call. Since 7/22 I have not heard from anyone at the Tully Rd petco in San Jose California. I'm truly disappointed with the level of customer service in all areas.

I went with my friend to get her 4 month old puppies shots. When we got into the area where they do the shots a lady who her puppy Pyper has never met before picked her up and held her by her neck and stomach and when they gave her the first shot she tried to nip at the girl holding her. The girl holding her yelled at her puppy and made her scared so she ended up peeing on the floor because she yelled at her. The main vet ended up stepping in and doing the shots and microchip herself with no problems or no biting. We have been previous times and she has NEVER bit any one for giving shots. I just felt the need to message you about this because I do not think it was right for her to yell at the dog AND not to mention get mad at us for not going over there to hold her mouth shut for her. I believe if you want to work with animals you should have a heart for them and have patience for them. I'm sorry for such a long message. It was at the new one in yukon on NW 10th Street. I don't know her name because I was trying to hurry and help my friend get her dog out of there because she was shaking and freaking out but the other people there were super nice especially the main vet. She was very helpful

On Sunday July 1, 217 Petco provided false advertisement on their website.
Clawsome Cat tree was normally $149.99, Petco listed price was $2.99
Pure Bliss cat tree was normally 149.99, Petco listed price was $0.99
Orthopedic Dog Bed normally $69.99, Petco listed as $2.99
Black Nylon Basic Dog Leash normally $10.99, Petco listed as $1.49
Daisy Popup Dog Stairs normally $29.99, Petco listed as $4.99
Harmony Pet Steps normally listed as $69.99, Petco listed for $4.99
There were also several other items that were marked down.
Petco proceed to claim it was a glitch and was supposedly going to cancel all orders because of the "glitch".
However, Petco decided they would selectively decide which items they would honor and which they would not.
All of the items I listed above we ordered several of. Petco honored the glitch in the dog leashes, and both dog stairs we ordered; however, canceled the orders on the dog bed and both cat trees.
We called customer service July 17, 2017 and spoke to a rep named Gene and a supervisor named April.
They stated to us that all orders are canceled as it was a glitch in the system. We proceeded to tell them they honored half of our order and canceled half and asked them to explain why. They stated it must have fallen through the cracks. We proceeded to ask how half of our order would go through, since the whole order was from a "glitch", and how they canceled half. They could not give us an answer. We proceeded to inform them it is not the customers fault they had an error in their website and we believe it is false advertisement as they are selecting which items they want to honor and which they do not. April proceeded to inform us several times that they were not selectively picking items to honor and which they did not honor but could not explain to us why then half of our order was honored and half was canceled, nor could she explain to us why this also happened to several of our friends.
This is NOT an accident on Petco, this is false advertisement trying to lure people in.
I have a few screen shots that we took. The screen shot shows the prices on Petco.com, some of the emails show confirmation, some emails show cancelation, some show being shipped, and one shows that on an order the dog bed and cat scratcher was canceled but half of the order contain the leashes was shipped. Thus, this shows that they were being selective. They canceled all cat scratchers and dog beds, yet they sent us our order of dog steps and also half of our order containing the dog leashes. However, ALL of these items were supposed "glitches".
Here are my 4 issues with this whole Petco Scam:
Petco is honoring some items / orders but not them all. How is Petco determining who and what items people can get?
They honored our dog steps that were $69.99 but we paid $4.99 and also our dog leashes that were $10.99 but we paid $1.49 yet they canceled our cat tree and dog bed. How did they selectively do that? How are some people getting their items that they ordered, some people only get half their order, others their whole order?
It was false advertisement to lure people in, not a glitch.
Secondly, Petco customer service. Petco randomly canceled people's orders without any explanation so of course people are going to call customer service. Customer service used profanity with some customers, hung up on some, were rude, and some were polite. Some told people it was a glitch, some IT problems, others were told a picking error, some were told a pricing error, others were told they were hacked, that they accidentally put the wrong price, some reps acted like they had no idea what was going on. Petco apparently thinks it's okay for their customer service workers to cuss customers out. Petco thinks it's okay for their customer service workers to lie to their customers. I mean, you'd think they'd all be telling the same story not lying to all their customers and having 6 different stories. Petco has proven they don't care about their customers.
Thirdly, they were able to send out a cancelation email, without explanation, but still have my money. I was never informed when I'd be given a refund, just like I was never informed why my order was canceled.
Lastly, before Petco caught onto the "error" customers were calling into customer service and were specifically told he items were marked correctly at $2.99 and proceeded to confirm their orders for them. Also, when calling into Petco stores, customers, including myself, were told those items were the correct prices as they were discontinued items and needed to be gone quickly before the new product came in.
So which story is it?

I'm tired of going into petco and being treated as if I have the plague. I own 4 ferret. All purchased in petco. Various states. So I support and use Marshall products as well as other animal products purchased at petco. Only in the one in Gillette Wyoming am I not allowed to touch the ferret. "Only if I plan to purchase". I cannot tell just by looking rather I'm purchasing it not. There had to be a bond or connection. I've been told totally absurd reasons I'm not allowed to handle a ferret. Even when I'm the only person in the store. I have shopped many states and many pet stores and never been treated so poorly. I also believe some handling is good for the animal. I purchased one that was very skittish and a bitter I believe because he was in the store awhile without human interaction. I understand caution with handling the pets but don't agree with your no handling policy.

Today I went on your site to look at dog beds and food! I found large dog beds for $2.99! I ordered 3 and when I went to checkout, even with the coupon code from this morning's email, it was $134.00! That's just not right to suck people into that and then at checkout you pull something like that! I am a rewards member and shop at our local store but was interested this time in drop shipping dog food.
Well not if this is how your website works! Very irritated! And very disappointed! I also work with a husky rescue here locally plus have three of my own dogs 2 of which are rescues. It costs so much money for us and this was a cruel thing to have happen! I was so excited to get new beds for our dogs!

I brought my mini schnauzer to get groomed. I told the girl to leave her beard. she looked my dog over and said she wouldn't need to touch her face at all. I told her the rest of her can be cut. She said she would try to do the same as they did last time, I agreed since it was perfect last time. I told her she tolerates brushing and knots well and it shouldn't be a problem. Her legs get a bit tangled but again she brushes out well. I restated just don't touch her beard, leave it. She said "ok not a problem, but she may need to cut the rest of her"... I said fine do what u can but try first. I picked her up, PAID FIRST as required, then she brought her out and her beard was GONE! I said "who cut her beard?" she said "I did." I said "I told you to leave it." she said "Oh, I thought you wanted it trimmed, all I did was trimmed it up a bit." I said "no! I told you to leave it!" she said "is it ok? do you like the way she looks?" NO I DON'T, I told her it was fine bcuz I was pissed and just wanted to leave before I said anything I shouldn't. I wanted to cry I was so upset. My goodness, if I wanted it trimmed I would have said trim her beard, NOT leave her beard do not touch it. UGH! $55 for a shaved dog? she didn't even try to brush her out. NEVER AGAIN! why hire girls who are untrained to listen to the pet owner. If this is the case, have a form owners can fill out listing specifics so it's there written out and seen instead of ignored. It will take a VERY LONG TIME for her beard, a trademark in schnauzer breed, to grow back to the length it was. She didn't trim it she cut it off completely! it was not tangled or matted, she just DID NOT LISTEN TO SIMPLE INSTRUCTION TO LEAVE HER BEARD!
I received a quick response on twitter for my complaint, I was given a full refund which Im satisfied with. Also the manager insured me she would better train her staff to listen to the owner of the pet and understand their request. That is all I hoped for was for the staff to do what was asked, not what they think the person meant by it. So thank you Sarah, I hope this helped and doesn't happen to someone else.
crickets
I live in Buckley, and the closet pet store is in Bonney Lake. They are always out of crickets, with no other stores near me. I have to drive 40+ minutes to get crickets. Last week all the Petco in the area were out of crickets, making the nearest place to get them over an hour away. They were suppose to get a shipment in Tuesday, delayed due to holiday, was then told Friday and it is now Monday and out tomorrow. I don't have the time or gas to drive 40-60 minutes away, especially when I have reptiles, who now have no crickets. They are also almost completely out of mealworms as well. You have just lost a customer, along with several others who I have seen storm out of the store.

My husband & young son went into the Petco to purchase fish for our new tank. They wanted to buy inmate cicklets. My husband has had this kind of fish before. Well when he asked to retrieve some of these fish the gentleman began intarigsting my husband out my husband! Asking what size our take was. (It's 30 gallon) Told my husband he couldn't have the fish bc out tank was two small... How? When they had them in the exact same size tank? Doesn't a fish only get the size of it's surroundings anyways? Oh I forgot to mentioned this all happened 15 minutes before the store was to close, which is probably the real reason he didn't want us to give us the fish! Because right after he wouldn't give my husband the fish he quickly got on the loud speaker and informed all customers the store was closing. What great customer service to rush customers service your company to refuse a sale & to rush customers out the door!
lack of reptile food
I went to the Grants Pass Petco yesterday and their reptile food department looked like they were going out of business. No wax worms, no crickets no fruit flies. I don't know what their excuses were yesterday because there was nobody in that department. In fact I only saw three workers in the whole store. The counter guy, the groomer and the dog trainer. I'm going to start calling them excuses are us.
treatment of birds
So I come to petco for certain bird treats. My finches love but last couple weeks have been horrible. You carry exotic birds but have no perches in cage for them. I said something 3 times. This week you had finches that were thrown in cage no perches no nest and their feet hurting. I reported this to your workers and they don't care. Why be a pet store if you don't care! Why work there if you don't care! Made me very sad such mistreatment.
lazy cashier & did not help me as ada disabled person
I was at Petco in Lawndale tonight and was appauled by the service I received by the cashier.
Not only lazy but rude and did not help me when I asked for help as I am partially disabled, I have a hard time with my hands and feet. 15 months of Chemo and Radiation treatments for Stage 3C Cancer has not been fun. I never would ask for help prior to being sick. This woman was put out that I asked her where to put the cart, on the side or other side. She says
"we aren't Trader Joes, We don't help like that" Really? I asked her if her mother needed help out shopping wouldlnt she be disappoited if she was treated like i was. Even after I had told her wny I needed a little help. She was too busy clock watching.
Then when I asked why I didn't get a bag or the option to get a bag. She huffed, I told you that we werent TJ's.
NO DEFINATELY NOT? Its sad because it doesn't take much effort to put 4 items in the paper bag. She also didn't hand me the bag, she threw it in the basket.
All this says is stop shopping here and that I mean nothing to her, or any one else either.
Again, after I mention and said, Do you think I could get some help? She replied something about my bag. I am truely disappointed in that store and especially that woman. (I have no bad moments with everyone else, they are great. NOt her.

Petco Ref # 7967849 from 6-28-17 still unresolved. I tried to log into my account and it would not accept the password that I know was correct. First I was told I was locked out for too many attempts, then I wad told I didn't respond to the Captiva request properly, then I was told they needed to reset my email address. I'm not sure what the problem is but I would think such a large company would have a competent IT department but I now don't believe this is possible. I spend slot of money on line at Petco, in there stores and grooming. It now seems I need to find another pet store
sick fish and bad advice
I live in Tacoma, Wa and "used to" shop at the 6th Ave store. I have gotten nothing but I'll informed advice that killed my more expensive fish and recently purchased 2 black neon tetras that killed off my entire tank of fish. They looked great at the store but immediately started acting odd, died and every one of my fish that took a nibble off the dead fish before I could remove them, ... All died. You are selling sick fish and it cost me a ton of money and a lot of heartache. From now on I refuse to set foot in a Petco store!

So I am in line at store #2414 in Denver with a huge bag of dog food and the guy in front of me is asked by the check out person if he has an account. Says he isn't sure so she asks him for a phone number...doesnt work. Next phone number...doesnt work. This goes on for five minutes so she says let's sign you up right now and proceeds to upload his bio. I walked out and went to PetSmart. Here's the cool part...the only reason I am submitting this on this site is because there is no place to enter a complaint on the Petco website. Lots of places to buy stuff and they do have a contact section but went really out of their way to ensure guys like me cant navigate to a complaint submission.

on June 15th, 2017. stated to me ex dog trainer of 3 years working for Petco.
And I Quote " I am putting you through dog training classes again, WE will document every thing you do and then if you make one mistake I will fire you!":
Me " I quit and have already as I told you have contacted the government filed charges, labor board on down the line"
So the DM "took retaliation " against me which is highly against the law stated in detail by the federal government OSHA.
