I have been smoking Marlboro Reds-Flip Top for 40 years and lately have noticed that they burned almost twice faster and are loosely packed with less tobacco. I though I got counterfeit cigarette pack so returned them to store. Called Philip Morris and they told me formulation and content had not changed. Bought a another pack, without the newer package insert and it was fine. Then got another pack with the new Explorer package insert, and it burned fast again. Called PM and they told me it was not countefeit. They would not disclose any other consumer complaints. At the price of a pack nowadays, such fast burning and loosely packed cigarettes are not acceptable. The cigarettes even feel lighter in weight, and if squeezed, seems to have only 1/2 to 2/3 of prior tobacco. Is this a ripoff or what?
I had the same experience. I bought a carton and the packs had a black band around them and smoked fast. I tested the “old” against new by lighting each and just letting them burn. Old was 6:43 and new was 3:39. It’s called shrinkflation. They want us to quit buying their products so after 40 years, I quit.
I smoke a pack and a half a day, so I'm buying cartons every week or so. Marlboro Black 100s, at the same store for years. Within this last couple of months my purchases has increased due to the cigarettes burning faster. What's going on? I remember when I could set my cigarette down in the ashtray and it wouldn't stay lit, but now it stays lit and within a minute it's gone. Have they changed them so we need to buy more often?
I usually smoke maverick menthol 100 but got a pack of Marlboro 100 and noticed I smoked 2 to 3 more cigarettes a day I had cut down to 5 cigarettes a day but with the Marlboros I was smoking 7 to 8
I absolutely agree. It's ridiculous. Are used to be able to smoke a cigarette like 10 minutes now it's for five minutes. It's probably gonna make me quit which is good but absolutely ridiculous.
Yep, I've been smoking just as long and have noticed the same thing. The prices go up and product goes down. Seems like they're cutting their own throat here given the rate of people smoking has decreased so much. They're forcing those who've hung on to their one vice, to finally quit.
