Poor customer service
Old Trolley Rd Summerville, SC location. When I notified the manager about a truck illegally double parked into two different handicapped parking spaces he rudely informed me that the gym is private property. He did not notify anyone else. Also, manager thinks the gym is a night club. Music is so loud i could hear it clearly even with ear defenders on. He claims this is standard practice and he cant lower volume. Many gyms I go to do not even play music.
Desired outcome: Lower volume of music and respect hadicapped parking spaces. Notify customers if they are parked illegally.
community enrichment fee added to bill
I received a letter today from a Pivotal Fitness notifying me they will be charging me a one time "Community Enrichment Fee" of $59. This is out of the blue and was never agreed to in my contract. In fact, I don't have a contract with a Pivotal Fitness. I am a month to month member. This seems rather shady and a clear ploy to raise cash quickly. I will be disputing the extra charge if I see it come across my bank account. They make automatic deductions as most clubs do. They must think the members will ignore the letter and the charge. Very poor management decision making here and worried Pivotal in financial straights...
It looks like this is what they do. Managing is so poor. I don’t know what it is but they are out there just taking people’s money.
broken equipment and leaky faucets in women's bathroom
I have been a member of Pivotal Fitness for two years and it has slowly declined. It use to have 5 treads without a tv screen and now there are only three. The two that were broken have never been replaced. The women's bathroom sinks are awful. One sink has been nonfunctional for over a month and the other sink constantly runs. I can only imagine the water bill! Why not call a plumber? The stairmaster doesn't work properly. I never see any custodians cleaning anymore and it doesn't smell as good as it use to. I have noticed that the membership has declined and I think it has a lot to do with the reasons I listed above.

Month to Month Contract
I was on a month to month contract with Pivotal Fitness on St. Andrews in Columbia, South Carolina. I called to tell them I had to cancel my membership. They told me I would still be charged for a annual fee of $39 and monthly fee of $20 dollars. I did not attend the gym for the whole month but they charged me anyway. Even though I called ahead of time and talked to one of the employees. I called back again to speak with the operations manager and she told me that there was nothing she could do to reverse it. I don't understand why this company feel like they can take people's hard earn money like that especially when they have already cancelled their membership, in advance. This company is money hungry and I will not recommend anyone to attend their gym. Bad cu
Customer Service
This facility has a Ladies only section and exercise rooms but elects to bring the Zumba class in the middle of the main workout area along with its deafening music. No consideration was given to the others who work out in that area and the general manager just has smart alack remarks when it was complained about. One of the trainers just took my glasses to use for herself when I put them down to work on a machine. Had to go to her at the trainers table to retrieve them. I would not recommend this facility who just looks to mind their own business while working out.

To whom it may concern,
I am writing to state that due to your billing departments negligence in transferring a payment out of my account thirty days prior to my contracted due date, September 5th, I am no longer giving you permission to electronically withdraw the $19.99 monthly payment nor the once a year $49.00 facility fee. My bank, Bank of America, has been contacted and the EFT is now cancelled. Any payment that may be due in the future; will be hand delivered to the Club written on a personal check, requiring a receipt.
I am still waiting for the return of my $19.99 transferred from my checking account on August, 6th. I spoke with the Club’s General Manager, Lisa, (located on St. Andrews Road, in Columbia SC) on August the 6th and she stated “She would not lie to me and that the money would be returned in three to five days.” As of today, August, 20th, it has been 14 days (two weeks). I have received no contact from her or the Main Office asking for my forgiveness or my understanding of a mistake in doing the illegal transfer. I believe it to be an illegal transfer because I never authorized your ability to enter my account prior to the above stated due date. I have contacted the SC Dept. of Consumers Affair and I have spoken with the Attorney there. She will be contacting you in the near future on this issue.
In a personal note, I was so excited at the time of joining the Fitness Center. But, with the strikes now against ‘you’, I do not see how I can ever enjoy going in now. I do not hold the financial issue against any of the Personal in the Center but, I was given a very uncomfortable approach on the day I was in the Club speaking with Lisa about this issue and in how her Crew gathered around giving me the feeling of being ganged up on. If they did not want my business, why did they work so hard to get my signature on the contract? I can’t imagine that my contract would make or break the Clubs bank!
I hope we can handle this with professionalism. I look forward to hearing from you in the nearest future. If not, I am assuming that you will at least be able to accept and agree, amicably, whatever the outcome is, of your own making.
With deepest regards,
Cindy Young
Contract number: 5412, Barcode: P171692, Membership Type: FIT, and Term: 24 months…
Additional information: On August 29, 2012 your billing department tried to do another EFT to retrieve the $49.00 facility fee, 6 days prior to my contracted date. Again, that is an illegal entry into my account. You are stealing from me. My bank was notified and a stop payment was placed on it. With the certified letter I sent to you on August 21, 2012 not being accepted by one of your people from the Charleston, SC office, it does not give you any right to think you can ruin my credit by trying to say I never sent you a letter to stop the EFTs. I have proof that it was sent and that it was ignored. My credit history better be mar-free by this issue. With the Dept. of Consumer Affairs sending you a compliant, which includes my letter to you, with WIS-TV and a legal attorney (my next two approaches), who I will gladly pay the full amount required to make you fully cooperate, it would be best if you contact me and end our relationship, immediately. A letter with all information completely spelled out (contract cancelled, monies returned) is the only way I will not continue on my road to have you do as I am requesting. If you try to ruin me, my name and my credit, in anyway, I will feel I have no other choice but, to do the same to you and yours…
Have a great day!
Cindy Young..
Having a similar problem with this company. They won't acknowledge the receipt of my cancellation in spite of the postal services receipt showing the date of delivery. They use this as a delay tactic to get more money and then affect your credit. This is present day fraud and theft at its best. Their staff have lied re: their procedures and the entire machinery is geared to suck out your money while leaning on their dubious contract.
I am having similar problems with this company, if you don't mind my asking, were you able to get any resolution on your issue?
Unethical
I went there to find out my options for membership. The website says they offer a one year and two year membership. I wanted one year and was told that wasn t available but I could have a 2 year, pay in full 20 month or pay $99 and go month to month. The sales person also told me that their contracts were easily gotten out of if I brought in a doctors excuse! I asked if that was all I needed to know and he said yes. I went to home to think about it. I went back a week later and the gal behind the desk couldn t find my paperwork from before. I told her I wanted the $99 month to month but it s NOT that way! You have to pay the $99 and put a credit card on file cuz if you don t pay by the 30th they automatically debit your card! And if I want out of the month to month I have to send a certified, return receipt letter to their corporate office and they may charge me another month! How is this a month to month especially when I was giving them $99 to stay out of a contract? Then I found out that if you have medical issues that keep you from being a member, your doctor must write the letter on the Pivotal Fitness Disability forms and if you can use even ONE machine you cannot get out of the contract! So, then I find out in additional to the $30/month you are to pay $49/year Facility fees to cover maintenance of the equipment. Excuse me but if you re in the business of a gym, isn t the monthly fee supposed to cover the cost/repair and maintenance of the equipment/building/instructors, etc? I walked out and when I called back and talked wih the General Manager the next day all she could say was sorry. All in all, the first year would have cost me $360 for the 36 months, $49 for the facility fees and $99 for the month to month fee...over $500. This company is out to bilk you out of $ any way they can. If you call their Charleston, SC corporate office, you get a recording to leave a message and they ll call you back. Yeah right! Don t go here. Now you know why Golds is busy and they are not.

Unethical Business Practice
Pivotal Fitness has the worst customer service and business practices. After your contract is up, I was told I would have the OPTION to do a month-to-month membership. I specifically asked if this was automatic or if I had to sign up for it. They told me I had to sign up for it. Well it was automatic. Fine, mistake. The only way to cancel your membership...

1.I went to pick up my 9 month old son, and he was by himself, on the floor, in a large room. When someone finally appeared, she said she had to go to the bathroom, and that no one else was there to watch him. 2.Gave them another shot. This time my son is 17 months old and very mobile. I got the attention of the kids zone attendant to let my son in. I...

I signed a 2 year contract that should have ended in August but National Fitness is still charging my account. They conveniently didn't send any notification that my contract ended but didn't hesitate to still charge me even though I haven't been to the Pivotal Fitness once in over a year

I was told by Pivotal Fitness that I was signing an agreement which would give me a 1 week trial, which is what I requested, and that if I decided I didn't like the gym I could cancel in a week and the form would be "torn up as though it never existed." I looked on the web and found they had been offering a 1 week trial without signing this same form and I was not informed of this by their sales rep. The general manager denies any wrong-doings by his employees and is forcing me to pay $40/month for 2 years. I tried to cancel within 6 days. I do not recommend this gym as they are not "above board."
